Enoch's Fish & Chips in Isle of Anglesey

When we first came to live in this area the only place to go was Enoch’s for fish and chips. On our last visit.an item ( curry sauce was paid for but missed out ) not a disaster but careless. Also we asked for a receipt and were informed it would be in the bag but that was omitted. The food was ok but just not quite as good as before. Overall still a worthwhile place for a chippy tea but they need to concentrate on maintaining their high standard.

Seems that the regular staff have changed because the fish and chips certainly have as you would think a chippy could cook decent chips, last nights offering were fit only to feed the wild birds as the chips were really under cooked and the fish batter appeared to only have been cooked on one side definitely not turned in the fryer. Okay we managed to eat the fish but the chips were not fit to eat at all which is a shame as usually they are really good. Wasn’t even busy so I don’t know what happened last night. At £34 I expect better, a lot better.

Very poor customer service Whilst on holiday in Anglesey we ordered online for a family of 5 and drove 20 minutes to collect it. Upon returning to the holiday cottage one family members item was missing and was left with no food to eat. We had spent £40 and tried ringing several times with no answer. We eventually got through and the lady acknowledged they’d forgot the item and said she’d refund the item however one person had nothing to eat and it was too late and too far to get a replacement. Would not use again.

Travelled quite far because of a recommendation . Totally underwhelmed and the fish was covered in wet batter ( no crispness at all) Even if I lived nearby I would not bother with this choppy !!!

Very nice but the adult portion should be for kids and the children’s portion’s were tiny. And in the end we had to go to Mcdonalds

We called in at Enochs for lunch while we were out and about exploring Anglesey and I have to say the haddock and chips was definitely the best I've had in a long long time!

Very disappointing visit. Fish was greasy and very soggy. Chips were soggy, stale and tastless-such a shame. 3 adult meals and one kids meal with drinks was a total of £28!! We think it was a waste of money.

We chose Enoch’s due to the really good reviews but were a bit gutted especially considering the higher cost. Place itself was lovely and the portions were massive but the food let us down. The fish was huge but the batter was so soggy and greasy, we couldn’t eat it as it was quite difficult to stomach. Mushy peas weren’t mushy, just like tinned marrowfat. We also tried the prawns and calamari.. prawns were ok but the calamari batter was so soggy. The actual squid was really chunky though - big portions again. On the positive side, the chips were SO NICE. Overall, really disappointing.

Very nice food, a good selection of items on then menu, the prices are on the slightly higher side when compared with other local chips shops.

Loved the Christmas decorations and the portions of hot steamy chips topped up which chip shop curry , we loved it and will be back

Been a few times in the past and always been okay. Today not as good, fish was freshly cooked and a generous portion but needed draining longer and middle a little undercooked with raw batter. Chips were good. Service was unpleasant - just unsmiling grunts from the curly haired bloke so kind of disappointing.

After a long journey from Kent, we set out to get something to eat, first Fish & Chip shop we found in Camaes Bay, although said was open wasnt, so off we went to our next one, and glad we did, Fish & Chips were lovely, freshly cooked, thin batter, fresh fish & lovely chips, only grumble, was batter was a little greasey, but glad we found,very nice

Our local, last 4/5 times of having chips from here have all been under done. Nothing worse than undercooked chips. Won’t be using again.

Why have bought our fish and chips here regularly for 2 years. The last couple of times have been disappointing. We visited on Wednesday 30th of August and would not go back. The 4 fish we purchased were soggy, very small and greasy. The chips were no better. I wouldn’t go back!

Called in today for fish and chips. Excellent no grease in tray, tasty and we'll cooked, we also had curry sauce which was very nice. It is our 3rd visit to Enochs in Valley, we have not been disappointed on any occasion.

This place is now our regular chippy. By far the best in the area. We frequent on a weekly basis. Staff are friendly and the food is extremely good value for money.

Another fantastic visit. Called in for a quick lunch whilst I was out and about. Lovely service and great pie and chips, special mention for the 5 star gravy.

This place is totally over rated. The fish is small and is like a Birds Eye frozen fish!! The curry sauce is watery and the chips are dry. I don't know why people rate this place so highly, there are much nicer chip shops around the island.

On the Island for afternoon, decided to try the Enochs, was more than pleasantly surprised. We had 2 lunch boxes, chips cooked lovely, fish just right, very pleased after the disappointment we had in their sister shop in Llandudno. Will definitely call in again to Enochs in Valley, thoroughly enjoyed our lunch, staff very pleasant there as well.

A previous visit lead us to return but unfortunately we won’t be coming back again and won’t recommend this place. The staff appeared to not want to be there, with little hygiene practice being followed seemingly messing around. That said , we ordered fish and chips. In transferring the fish to plates we found it very soggy, falling apart with oil coming from it. Far from crispy how it should be. The chips were also very oily. The greasy food don’t taste fresh and part through eating it didn’t agree with my stomach and I was ill. A very tasteless greasy meal. Save your money and go to the chip shop nearby instead😕 don’t go here!

Thrown it away so a waste of money after find hair in it, short and dark. Have tried to raise the issue with them directly but the website isn’t working properly.

Came for tea ordered 4 items sausage with chips fish cake with chips. One with salt and vinegar one without. Had the order repeated back to me upon collecting. And once home no fish cake what a fail Poor service I’m afraid

Previously enoch’s has been everything fish and chips should be; fresh, crisp and seasoned the way you like it. This time, it was none of this; the fish tasted stale. The batter wasn’t crisp. And despite being asked and responding “yes please, lots of both”...

We had takeaway for 5 people, most of us having fc&p. The fish was good, extremely lightly battered, which is what we like. The chicken nuggets/bites/whatever they were called were well received. The chips, peas etc were disappointing.

Taking on board reviews and scores on doors, decided to give it a go. A very good decision, quality food at a reasonable price. They cannot be blamed forcurrent financial situation. Great ordering system, then collection. Will be back for scampi, cod chips and peas.

While holidaying nearby we thought to try out the local fish and chips. We had to wait for 50 mins in total to order and receive food but that was absolutely fine as they were extremely busy on a Saturday night. The food was average, the chips were okay, the mushy peas were awful and ended up in the bin and the battered sausage had a weird smell to it but the fish was good. We were disappointed and won't be revisiting.

We arrived too late to go shopping, and I'm so glad we did as we got to taste Enochs Valley and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. We'll definitely go again before the holiday is over.

Visited circa 8pm on a Wednesday evening. Covid restrictionists in place but well managed. Ours was a walk in visit but noticed pre-order available.Take away only. Ordered the fish and chips for 2 cost £13.60. Given a bleeper at time of order and then waited outside. Bleeper went off after a 20 min wait and we collected easily. Drove to the nearby penrhos coastal park to eat the meal. Plenty of car park space at the coastal park and bins to put the wrappers at end of meal.Good quality fish and chips cooked well and tasty.Would use again.

We were just looking for somewhere to get fish and chips while close to the coast. We stumbled across this place as it was the closest listed on Google Maps. The location, presumably on the old A5, didn't look particularly auspicious. However, this place was terrific!We enjoyed their lunchtime snackboxes. Our small group of 3 had the cod and chips and the fishcake and chips, both of which came which mushy peas (or gravy or curry sauce had we preferred). Even paying for big pots of ketchup each, it was still only 12 GBP total -- and the chip portions were huge.The set-up was Covid-secure and the staff were super polite. The customer toilets were accessible and uncommonly clear. We sat at the tables outside.Strongly recommend.

We visited recently and had Cod and chips. We was hoping for haddock or hake but restaurant had run out of a lot of things. Food was nice but portions were very small for the money.

Quite good quality fish and chips but fish portion was minute. Service at the counter was not at all friendly and we were treated like she was doing us a favour. If you can put up with being shouted at it’s ok but if you like friendly service don’t bother.

Went there tonight to order what I though was a chips and jumbo sausage to be told they no longer do jumbo sausages which was fine but when we got the food we were disappointed to find that this was a “large” portion. I could feed this to a family member that eats little portions and they would still be hungry. Shocking to think that we paid over £10 for two “large” portions like this.

Slightly pricey but easily worth it as these guys do great fish and chips plus some real treats like the calamari. Great set up for Covid with the one way system and booking a slot to get your food by ordering on line.

The Shop was lovely and clean and the staff friendly. However, that was as good as it got. I ordered fish and chips x 2. I drove less than 10 mins away to eat them whilst looking out to sea. The chips were actually cold, not even luke warm and whilst the size of the fish was impressive and the batter nice, the fish itself was soggy. Not what I expected from a supposedly award winning fish shop.

We arrived after a long drive, feeling tired and hungry. We waited a very short time for our food. The staff were very cool and friendly. We then took our food to nearby Penrhos country park, about 1.5 miles away. The food was freshly cooked and very hot. It was like fine dining sitting in a beautiful place with really hot food (i hate luke warm food) If this place was situated in London it would be earning serious money. An amazing treat, well worth every penny.. We cannot wait to go back.

These are the best fish and chips I've had in years. Great service and cooked fresh while you wait. The large portion is great for my husband but I couldn't manage it, I just about managed the small one. If you're in the area give them a try. You won't be disappointed.

This was a fabulous find for us while staying nearby at Trearrdur Bay. We all had fish and chips and really enjoyed them - decent portions and really nicely cooked. I liked the focus on sustainability, and the children's meals were good value.We took them to the picnic tables at the nearby Penrhos coastal park which was a good spot to look out across the shore during the evening.We definitely come back here if staying in the area again.

We have had numerous lovely fish & chip meals at Enochs in Llandudno Junction and were expecting the same standard at their Valley premises. Unfortunately not! The batter on the fish was soggy (and it only took a minute to take it to the table outside) and the chips were pale and poor quality. Very disappointing. We won't be going back again.

We were looking for a place for fish & chips whilst staying in Anglesey for the weekend and found this place. Cracking little find and couldn’t have been happier with the food and service. We put a large order in for 8 people. It was ready in no time and the food was delicious. We all got fish & chips which were great. Couple of sides (onion rings, calamari) we got were just okay so stick to the traditional stuff and you can’t go wrong.

Had been told that this is the best fish & chip shop on Anglesey so just had to try it!Spotlessly clean, pleasant gentleman serving, good ordering system where you get a receipt and move down to wait for your food whilst it’s cooked. It was delicious! There’s lots on the menu so we’ll have to go back but the chips were fluffy, the fish had a beautiful flavour and lovely crispy batter, highly recommended.

This place looks clean and smart. When you order, you have a number on your receipt (like Argos). The food is then cooked to order. You can take away or eat in. When we asked if we can sit in to eat, the staff member said if he had known, he would have plated up for us instead. Either way the food was delicious and hot! There’s a few benches outside. Only parking space on front for one vehicle. You have to park on main road or in side street. But worth it.

This place is very well sorted. An excellent business. Well presented, professional and very clean and modern.I live nearby and have visited many times.First the positive aspects.The fish is excellent. Cooked beautifully. Light batter but a slightly smaller portion than most places of this type.the food is generally cooked to order. A few minutes wait for freshly cooked food is no hardship.The negatives....... Unfortunately I don't find the other main alternatives to fish particularly great.But obviously they are focused on the fish and they do that very well.The chips portions are on the small side too.... But tasty enough.Secondly and my biggest grumble...... When you choose an extra to have with the f and c most go for the mushy peas or curry sauce. Great and both options are ok.......... BUT in my opinion twice the price they should be.It may sound mean but I nowadays keep a tin of branded mushy peas in at home. 34p a tin and serves two. The same quantity from Enoch's is served in three little pots at 80p eachYou do the maths lol.Otherwise

We found Enoch's on a day trip to Anglesey and what a gem it is. A very warm welcome, great fish and chips for Mrs W and I had the best home made fish cake I have ever had anywhere. A lovely flavourful balance of fish and potato with a nice light crispy batter. I could eat them every day. Will definitely visit again when next in Anglesey.

Myself and family had a great weekend on Anglesey. On the Saturday we all decided we “needed” fish and chips. Plus a few extras like coffee; shrimp, squid gravy and probably things I’ve forgotten . I’m just a plain fish n chip girl. We took them onto a fabulous beach not too far away and the whole family from 68 down to a baby under one (8 of us in total) were quiet for a good fifteen minutes while we tucked into the most delicious food. Thoroughly recommend Enoch.

Now a takeaway only shop as always the fish is excellent, however the chips although cooked never seem to be crisped up enough. A minute longer in the fryer perhaps? Anyway, still best fish & chip shop around for us.

Tried most chippies near here but this is the best. Just had 2 haddock - chips - curry sauce - mushy peas. Food excellant no trace of oil. A great ordering system, you dont have to ask everyone "are you next". Staff friendly and even put my order in my carry bag.

Food is okay but ordering it is a bit complicated, you order one side receive a ticket then walk 3 paces to the other side to receive your order where there seems to be a bustle of people in a small place trying to serve sometimes just one or all these customers holding tickets and in some cases getting it all wrong. It’s not a big place, dump the ticket issuing and just have an orderly queue and a bigger serving counter , you order, you get and you go it’s that simple, it’s a chippy.

We made the effort to try and find this shop, as we were in the area for a day trip and it had been recommended to us. So glad we did. It really was a good choice. There's nothing worse than a lovely family summers day out, only to experience bad fish and chips at the end of the day.

Visit to Enoch's, Valley, Angelsey. The premises very nice, clear menus, clean and tidy well presented, Top marks. Battered burger, no Bun!! Should read battered meat Pattie on the menu. Food nice but Fish a little on the smaller side, of a regular chip shop. Nice to read that they ethically source ingredients and supplies. Nice to see them using cardboard containers instead of those polystyrene type. I asked for a bag, let down!! only plastic!! How's that fit in with the ethical policy? Meal ok, served hot but Fish size and definition of a burger needs to be revisited Enoch.

A really great place to go if you love your fish and chips. Always fresh with generous portions it is always a place we visit whenever we are on Anglesey.

Impressed with slick operation - numbered receipt; orders up on a screen. Haddock chips n mushy peas for the boss, H chips n spicy curry sauce for me. Nicely lightly battered fish and no oil taste. Trying all the local chippys - well done Enoch's.

Fish was a decent size in light golden batter. Freshly cooked and certainly fresh - the cod was white and flaky. All fish are ethically sourced. Chips were golden brown and cooked in fresh oil. Mouth watering. Mushy peas were traditional with a generous helping. A nice touch was homemade tartare sauce. Outstnding!
