Empress Fish Bar in Coventry

I visited this chip shop and waited 25 minutes for my order. The reason being they were cooking and wrapping food for delivery guys who were coming and going. When I went in they had everything available, so there was no reason for my long wait. What annoyed me more was they took my money straight away, and because I ordered 1 regular chips, 1 large chips and a piece of cod they charged me more money. Had I said cod and chips it would have been £7.50. Instead they charged me £6.20 for the fish and £2.50 for chips (plus £3.50 for the large chips). I queried the offer but the server said I couldn't have it as I'd ordered the items individually. I became flustered. I chose this chip shop to avoid queuing; unknowing that they prioritise online orders. I won't be back.

Been going here for a few years spend at least £25 a week, but the last 4 weeks the kebabs have been of very poor quality & quantity every week I've been thinking it's a one off but today was a joke,they have got a lot smaller & the meat looked like it was scrapped off the bottom small bits of leftover meat, think it's time to look for another chippy 😞

Nearly nothing inside. Bun was cold. Chicken so small. They dare to charge 3.30 and call it a burger. Also fries are soggy

Popped in a grabbed a small bag of chips for lunch. It should have been a cheeky treat... I recieved a bag of priced chips with eyes that had been drenched in vinegar first then excessively covered in salt.. who does that.. l

Good value for money Chip shop and does a bargain KFC type fried chicken and chips in a box - 2 pieces £2..99 or 3 piece £3.99

good chippy. Used to live near here and used tiouse it then. It's now one of five or six chip shops we use. Food's always been good and on this most recent visit, we had three x chips, fish n mushy peas. Yum.

Absolutely the best place to get your fish and chips from in Coventry, the staff are the friendliest nicest and politest and the owner is just such a fab guy, a young school boy had come in whilst I was in the queue and didn't quite have enough money for all that he wanted so he had started to put his can of pop back, the owner had heard him and said no, keep it and enjoy, how lovely was that!!! We had a big family food order and the quality is exceptional, all fresh and plenty of it, definitely them again and again.... beautiful.

This is one of two local chippies used by the family and we find little at fault. The prices are standard for Coventry (ie cheap compared to Birmingham etc) and we have never found fault with the food. Its next to a handy Indian takeaway so you are spoilt for choice.

very nice much better price than in sevenoaks my home town. and good service well done chips not too soft. and fish well cooked and nice batter thank you

We generally avoid chip shops as the food is very hit and miss andI haven't been here for a few years as the food had gone down hill but we thought we'd give it a go. We had 2 kebabs, pie, fish and chips. The portions were huge, the chips were very tasty, the fish wasn't greasy in fact my daughter was very disappointed that she couldn't finish it all! The staff were very friendly and we'll definitely be using them again!

Be quicker to grow the potatoes, then pick em cut em and cook em your self. Hardly any choice of food apart from what looked like left over kebabs.

Every time I visit this lovely little fish bar I am impressed by the great staff as well as the high standard of the food. They take pride in what they cook & offer, so please give them a visit.

The food here is fantastic & extremely good value for money with huge portion sizes. Very friendly welcoming staff.

One of the best fish & chips I have had in Coventry. Fish was a decent size with excellent batter, chips were fresh (crispy from outside and soft from inside). My wife had mixed kebab and said that it was absolutely gorgeous. Great staff too. Will definitely use again. Thanks to the staff and keep up the good work.

Very gd food friendly staff and can deliver gd time keeping very easy to get to. I only live about 5min walk away so I go almost once a week.

Great fish n chip shop really top value with quality produce,big hit with all the family just around the corner but also deliver as well,oh and always happy and polite staff.

Nice Chippy either stop by or order takeaway. Not had a bad one yet. Friendly service and always fast delivery.

New owners - fish dried up - very disappointed would think twice about going there again - used to be good - please cook fresh and serve fresh and then I will return

I visited Empress Fish Bar upon a recommendation from a work colleague who was really impressed by the quality of their food. Whilst this was not my local chippy I made the trip down and was not disappointed. I had their traditional fish and chips and was really impressed with the taste, quality and portion size. The staff were great and really friendly. The management team were keen to hear any feedback as they were really passionate about making the best quality food. I found this quite a refreshing take on a traditional industry. This will be my new regular along with the family who all had positive comments about the food. Guys, please keep up the good work and I hope you dont lose the motivation and enthusiasm I saw when I visited.

I went to the Empress Fish Bar in Binley last night upon recommendation from a friend - I have to say I will be making this a regular visit, the staff were great and coming from a seaside town it was the best fish I have ever eaten!Top Job Guys!

I recently visited this fish bar, by the off chance, with it not being my normal fish and chip shop.On entering, I was greeted by such friendly staff and made to feel welcome. Having looked at the detailed menu, which caters for all ages including fussy children, I notice some amazing offers.I ordered my regular, fish and chips, Chicken kebab (which may I quote they offer two different types) as well as a kids meal. I must quote that the portion sizes are generous, unlike other competitors near by, the food was fresh and hot, and no quibbles from the children. There is also the option to have Peri Peri chips at no extra cost (which I recommend) as they taste delicious. After speaking to the lady serving, she advised that the shop is now open on Sunday's (which is great, as no other shops are open near by are) and also they deliver locally when spending over £8.00. I was also advised they will soon be offering fresh pizzas.No doubt, we now have our Fish & Chips delivered on a Friday night, which have always been fresh and hot. Defiantly recommend, this Fish Bar.

Nothing much to say other than this place serves the best fish and chips in Cov. The portions are generous and there's always a queue in the evenings. Recommended.
