Elite on the bail in Lincoln

Extremely disappointing. The fish was the skinniest piece imaginable. Probably safe to say it was 75% batter. Both of us had the same and not kidding there is more fish in a decent fish finger. Shame as was so looking forward to a traditional fish and chip supper.

The battered crème egg is the best thing I’ve ever eaten!!!! Such a great addition! We got a battered sausage meal with curry sauce and a fishcake meal with gravy. Everything was amazing, fresh and tasty. The staff are lovely too and such great prices. Would highly recommend! Thank you!

Y los precios son buenos.

Parked up in Lincoln on Friday and couldn't believe my luck when my expert Yorkshire nose alerted me immediately to Beef Dripping! We went in for haddock, chips, mushy peas and a bottle of muscadet. What a treat! This place really is elite. Service was really lovely. Everything about this place is fantastic. If I lived in Lincoln I'd be as fat as a barrel in a month 😁

Nice restaurant . Good food and service.

We had our function upstairs, in a private room, which was ideal. Everything met our expectations and the event was enjoyed by all who attended. I would thoroughly recommend this Fish and Chip restaurant to anyone seeking to have a fish and chip venue, for a large get together, for a meal and a social gathering. Go and have a look for yourself. You will not be disappointed.

Chips were average,but the curry sauce was the worst I’ve had for 30 years, My mrs said it was Bisto,but Bisto instant is far better. Her mushy peas were poor also.

Fantastic chippy. Super fresh fish, served up soon after ordering with the crunch we all seek in a fish and chip supper. Nice strong pot of tea to wash it down with. The staff are really friendly and keep the place ticking along nicely. Would recommend to anyone.

Restaurante de pescado con una sola ala de patinaje en una noche de sábado. Mala salida aunque la única ala se asó satisfactoriamente. La alternativa Huss era pobre. Como fue el titular de Whitebait. El pescado está bien, pero el pan rallado o la masa se empaparon en un aceite o grasa desagradable. Este aceite/grasa necesitaba cambiarse o posiblemente necesitaba estar más caliente, ya que el recubrimiento del pescado debería haber sido seco y crujiente, no húmedo y empapado. El servicio era muy bueno, así que no hay quejas allí, pero para una tienda especializada de patatas fritas fue una experiencia pobre.

Quick friendly service, Fish had light batter and was well cooked but a bit greasy and chips could have been cooked a bit more

First time in this restaurant and we were very impressed. We both had cod, chips and peas, tartare sauce and a pot of tea. Cosy and comfortable inside despite it being Baltic outdoors. The food was served after just a short wait. Everything was hot and the plates were warm. Fish freshly cooked with a nice batter and decent chips. We just managed to finish it off; good sized portions. The service was first rate. The place was clean. Everything was done just right and we look forward to our next meal there.

I went with my girlfriend on a quiet Tuesday afternoon. We were the only ones in the restaurant. The service was spectacular, not just because it was fast due to being the only ones there but because the waiter was polite courteous and patient while we decided what we were having. The food was fantastic. The cod and skate came out perfectly, crispy batter and not oily. The chips again slightly crispy but still fluffy. Will be going there again for takeaway and dining in whenever I'm in the area. Highly recommend.

Whilst searching for somewhere to eat, we visited the restaurant (as a party of 4) on a Saturday evening after making a booking, and was very lucky to get in. We ordered a Thai spiced salmon fillet in a chickpea curry, homemade fishcakes, mini cod, muscles, and sausage and chips. Everyone enjoyed their meals, and so I would highly recommend a visit!

Had the lite bite meal deal great value includes a drink loved it.

He estado en la élite en la fianza ahora más de 20 veces la comida siempre es increíble, pero ha habido numerosas ocasiones 4 de lo que puedo recordar donde el personal femenino detrás de la caja han sido simplemente impresionante. Este es un restaurante no un lugar para ventilar sus opciones verbalmente y en voz alta. Ayer la rubia más alta contestó el teléfono. A alguien que quería reservar una mesa, entonces cuando dejó el teléfono procedió a quejarse al otro personal que la persona que llamaba preguntó dónde estaban y que querían GF Hace dos meses estábamos sentados y escuchamos toda la historia de uno de ellos atropellando a un gato. Y no se detuvo. Bueno, es solo un gato que dijo. Antes de eso, todos escuchamos de nuevo a la rubia más alta contándole a todos cómo se puso la cintura en su noche de fiesta. Antes y tenía resaca. El mejor pescado sin gluten con patatas fritas que he tenido en un restaurante El personal fantástico que me guió a través del menú. Estaba pasando por la ventana cuando vi el cartel de "sin gluten". Rara vez tengo la oportunidad de comer así que corrí. El personal no podría haber sido más amable, repasó el menú, ayudándome a elegir el menú del almuerzo y tener una gran porción de pescado. No podía creer el tamaño cuando salió y sabía maravilloso. Gracias por hacer que mi fin de semana en Lincoln sea memorable.

Absolutely exquisite food. Was lucky enough to get a table on a quiet Saturday afternoon. Had the whitebait to start and the light bite haddock and chips. Best batter I have ever tasted. Service was polite professional and super friendly. Really recommend this place.

No había estado aquí por algún tiempo y estaba deseando el viernes por la noche fish and chips. Ordenaron una comida para llevar alrededor de las 7 pm, estaban ocupados, pero no terriblemente. Una vez en casa, desenvolví mi pescado y parecía que el Exxon Valdez había perdido su carga de nuevo. Nunca he tenido pescado tan graso como para cubrir mi encimera y eventualmente mi tabla de desagüe mientras se dirigía a mi contenedor. Era completamente incomestible. Esta reseña es para la próxima persona pobre a través de la puerta. No estoy interesado en ningún tipo de recurso, simplemente nunca volveré a frecuentar este establecimiento de nuevo. Anuncias lo bueno que eres, y estoy seguro de que si me sentara en tu restaurante sería, ciertamente no es de tu comida para llevar.

Just popped in for takeaway to take around to BeerHeadZ around the corner - new guy on the counter, this was a regular chips under the sausage - didn't feel like great value for money.

Had a fabulous meal on Saturday tea time, beautiful Haddock, chips (cooked in beef dripping) & Mushy peas...probably the best fish & chips I've eaten. Lovely friendly restaurant, with great staff. Highly recommend.

Acabamos de parar en la comida para llevar y tenemos dos bandejas de patatas fritas con restos. La joven que nos atendió era muy competente. Sin embargo, las patatas estaban mal cocidas. ¿Qué más puedo decir? Mi esposa y yo estuvimos veinte minutos escogiendo las patatas fritas ocasionalmente cocinadas (y con eso, quiero decir no duras, casi hasta el punto del dente) de la bandeja, pero escaseaban. ¿Cómo puede una tienda de fish & chip cocinar patatas fritas? Vamos a intentar acabar con ellos en la freidora esta noche, para ver si podemos salvarlos. Para cuando el problema se hizo evidente, estábamos caminando por Steep Hill, y yo no estaba a punto de caminar de nuevo! Puedo probar el lugar de nuevo, pero les pediré que se aseguren de que las patatas fritas se cocinen primero...

Great fish and chip shop, Andy is a really nice and cheerful guy definitely a credit to the place.

Living in Lincoln, I have a good choice of chippies. This one isn't the nearest to my home, but I always make the extra effort to get to the Elite on the Bail for the sheer quality. They're not just the best in the neighbourhood, or the city, they're the best in the region. You won't be disappointed. And if by some chance you are disappointed, their customer service is excellent too.

The best fishcakes I've had yet. The tall bloke working there was really friendly, and informative, we weren't sure what to get so he recommended the fishcakes. No complaints, would definitely come again next time me and the missus are in Lincoln. Will recommend to friends and fam!

My first time to eat here. On 15th August 2024. Very clean and smart decor. Nice atmosphere and great, friendly service. Delicious food, nice & hot, good sized portions and the best curry sauce! Highly recommend you try this plaice (pun) out!

Do not arrive 30 min before stated closing as you may get "last orders". I arrived at 19:35 and ordered Chips with curry sauce on top and Regular Haddock on top. I got chips,dry Haddock,seemed like it had been re cooked,then curry dumped on top of fish,who on earth puts curry on your fish,even tho I always ask for it on chips and Haddock on top. It might seem patronising to ask for it but, hey seems like I missed the point here.

Went on my own one Saturday afternoon lured in by Skate Wings. Made to feel very welcome. Great food. Fabulous mushy peas.

A great place for fish and chips - and it has a licence to boot. We had a meal here and couldn't fault it. Lovely food and great service. The lad serving us was polite and friendly. It was a great price too. Couldn't fault the place.

Had the lemon sole with salad for a main and squid to start. Both were fantastic. My mum agreed and we went again for dinner on the second night of our mini break. Not the poshest of restaurants but it’s been a long time since I’ve had fish cooked this well. Batter was very light and crispy. The salads were fresh and very plentiful. The onion rings were incredibly light and crispy. Staff were friendly and prices were very reasonable considering the quality. I would definitely recommend and I wouldn’t hesitate to go back next time I’m in Lincoln.

Would give the Elite Lincoln 10 stars if possible. Service was great, food was wonderful, beautifully presented, many choices, the onion rings are to die for, planning to go back to Lincoln just to have a meal there.

Takeaway Saturday lunchtime. Cod & Chips plus Large fish, chips & bread bun. Both fish same small size. "Do you want salt & vinegar?" "Yes". Counter staff girl emptied the salt shaker on both meals. Both meals inedible. It's not cheap either. Last time we ate there was the Steampunk weekend and it was excellent. They're living on that success. We won't be back. Went for pub meal. Proper stuff.

Visited on 13/06/24 after a recommendation from a couple of my colleagues who came the night before. The service was absolutely fantastic, very warmly welcomed by Andy and Ella who were working during my visit, they immediately checked if I needed any fish cooking. I’m veggie so I went for the Halloumi Fritters. They were AMAZING, and this Seaside-Town-Born Welsh Boy thought the chips were AMAZING! I got a message as I was leaving saying our van and crew were ahead of schedule so I had to eat on the go, else I’d have got a better presented picture! But a huge thanks to Andy and Ella, and a huge thanks to Elite on the Bail. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in Lincoln.

One of the best fish and chips shops in the country, love it here

A guy was physically sick all over the table and floor right before we ordered. We felt sick ourselves but the staff would not respond to our distress of feeling sick, and refused to comp our wine (despite our understandable lack of desire to eat) there was sick everywhere, and told us we ((10 year patrons) are band for pointing out the spew. They deserve to feel shame but that doesn’t mean they will. They’ll just keep ramping up prices , because they don’t care about consumers or consumer loyalty.

We popped in to grab a convenient Fish N Chip picnic to enjoy before I began my shift and after my girlfriend had ended hers. The gentlemen that served us was a friendly fellow. Who made some appropriate recommendations… the tartare sauce. They offer a home-made tartare sauce that the staff make themselves and it is vastly superior to the Heinz squirts pots they also offer on the counter-top. I believe the Salmon & Prawn salad is generally a “Sit-in” dish that they serve in their very spacious restaurant, however we asked nicely and with the beautiful smiles adorned upon our faces…he kindly obliged. We also got a regular cod and chips and they’re bloody gorgeous. #FishNChipFriday

Best fish and chips in uphill Lincoln.

Went into shop to order food 5.30 on 5th April, I have been in several times and many times to the other shops but on this occasion the guy behind the fryer ( wearing glasses)was shouting about having a 13 inch appendage and using swear words. The girls in the back area were laughing hysterically and really loud at something they were watching on their phone. The girls on the serving area looked embarrassed about what was happening behind them. Felt like I was in a youth club to be fair, I’m no prude but it was a bit too much as it literally went on whilst I waited for a large order. Food great as usual though 👍🏻

I grabbed a couple of sausages in batter with chips. They cooked to order so there was a little wait. The food was ok but I think that I need to try again and get the fish as the other reviews seem to be glowing.

My nannan is coeliac and had loads of choice of what she could have here! The food was brilliant, great portion sizes, and good prices, the gluten free options were almost the same price as the regular, which you don’t see very often either 10/10 would recommend!

Just bought a meat and onion pie for lunch,one of the worst pies I have ever had,filling less than half full, pastry like card board. We used to love this place but it's definitely going down on quality.

We had our first visit to Elite on the Bail during our latest trip to Lincoln this week and we were extremely impressed with both standard of food and the service. We will definitely visit again and would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone on a trip to Lincoln.

This is the best fish and chips I had for years. I am usually not a fan of fish and chips as it is very oily and heavy, but this place is just amazing. The fish was so well cooked and it was not full of oil and heavy. It is the first time I had fish and chips and I didn't thing it was a heavy dish. I just loved it. The only thing that I would like it would be a bit more salt in the butter but it was still delicious. We are definitely going back!

Visited the restaurant, 4 of us in an evening. We all had haddock, chops and sides which was all delicious. I just wasn't keen on what the woman serving did. She delivered a jug of milk for the cups of tea. I pointed out there was a fly landed in it, and she just dunked her finger in and dug it out. I was quite shocked. However, the male server was lovely and polite and friendly. Definitely some training needed for some team members

Don’t believe the reviews - Worst fish and chips I’ve ever had. Everything is cooked in very strong oil (beef trimmings?) that makes everything taste the same and is truly sickening. Maybe the oil was old from a day of cooking, but it was only 7pm. We had fried Brie, haddock, shrimps, calamari, chips… but we could only taste the oil. The fish batter was awful, and the only way to eat the fish was by removing it. The only nice thing was the smoked salmon starter, the only thing not fried. I felt sick when I left and had to rush to buy indigestion tablets. I truthfully thought I was going to throw up, no exaggeration. A terrible end to a great day in Lincoln.

Friday takeaway for the family. It was very busy which we didn’t mind. However some of the chips were not cooked throughly and the cheese was on my granddaughters chips was absolutely awful and had to be binned. A bit disappointing

Best fish and chips we have had even compared to the coast. We went in had the lunch special which was £10.95 including a soft drink or you can upgrade for £2. Either way for two of us including drinks it was £23 which is a really good price. Unfortunately no photos due to the food arriving and could not wait to get it down me. I had the haddock and my husband had the cod and we both had chips and curry sauce all included in the price. The food was fantastic and the batter on the fish was so light and not the normal thick batter you get. Highly recommend and best fish and chips we have had. If we come back to Lincoln we will return here for sure. Staff were so attentive and polite and making sure everything was OK and how it should be.

Brought Anglo Swiss friends who were visiting . They don't do f&c in Switerland (no sea coast!). They absolutely loved it! We enjoyed it too, especially the natural assumption we needed mint sauce for the mushy peas. Something else I introduced to the Swiss. Staff were excellent, service great, only very minor nit pick was the chips were lacking inner fluffiness.
