Elia in Glasgow City

This is my favorite Greek restaurant in Glasgow. I discovered it on my first visit to the city and I always try to eat there when I'm in the area because what is served is delicious so I always leave feeling satisfied.

A superb quick lunch before dashing to the train. Could do with serving larger portions!

Great place with good location,near our hotel.genuine Greek food with mythos beer and superb baklava. The waitress was very helpfull and the prices decent . I will recommend this place !

Everything was just surreal, amazing food..

It is a great place to have traditional Greek food. I've been there many times, and every time I was happy with the quality of the food (both taste and dish size), the service and the overall atmosphere (including the music that is Greek!). The quality of the above has been consistent all this time, and so it is an easy 5-star from me.

10/10 the food was amazing and super delicious, I would highly recommend it, the price is good and they gave us some cupcakes ❤️❤️

Excellent lunch with friends on my first visit in a long time to Elia. Staff were attentive and friendly throughout our lunch. Food quality and portions were very good we will definitely be back.

We ate very well there. The only downside is the prices, which are quite high compared to other restaurants in the area.

I recently visited Elia Greek restaurant located in the heart of Glasgow city centre, overlooking the beautiful George Square. The location is easy to find and offers a lovely view, adding to the charm of the experience. The atmosphere inside was calming and relaxing, and it wasn’t very crowded when we went for lunch, which made it even more enjoyable. The food was absolutely delicious and full of authentic flavors. As a nice touch, they brought us some complimentary snacks before our meal, which we really appreciated. The service was great, and the overall experience was fantastic. I’ll definitely be going back, and I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a Greek cuisine in Glasgow!"

Nice place in a great location but the food really let it down. Souvlaki should be tender but my partners last night was woeful to say the least. I told the waitress but no refund was offered probably my fault as I should've said something sooner. Oh well I'll not be in a rush back.

Been in here a couple of times for lunch and for a dinner. Food is always great and the staff are nice and friendly. Highly recommend the express lunch as the selection of dishes is great.

About 6 cubes of dry pork and some under cooked chips and some green stuff £17.50.... our lass had 6 cubes of dry lamb with under cooked chips as well ...... over priced if you ask me. Complained but nobody came back to see us, Went to Greg's after. Staff where good, wine was good

How tender is the lamb here? Just take a look at the photo I’m sharing—it practically melts off the bone! Everything we tried was incredible, from the creamy tzatziki to the perfectly grilled halloumi and, of course, the show-stopping lamb. The staff made our experience even better—they welcomed us in late and never once made us feel rushed. In fact, the waiter even said, “You can stay longer if you like!”—and this was at closing time. Warm, friendly, and genuinely accommodating, with quick and professional service. Honestly, I can’t recommend this place enough!

Atmosphere isn’t the best with its busy city centre location if you arrive for lunch time. This may be different during the evening. The Kleftiko though is fantastic

Lovely authentic Greek food and excellent service

On m'apporte rapidement la carte et ma boisson. On a de la déco avec le plat "gyros" mais on n'en propose pas, logique... Après avoir fait ma commande, on m'apporte des olives, de l'huile d'olive et du pain. Que je n'ai pas commandés. "Cadeaux de la maison" pour nous faire patienter... Je n'aime pas les olives donc j'ai tout laissé...Quel gaspillage ! Demandez-nous d'abord si on aime les olives ! Effectivement avec une serveuse sur 2 qui est efficace et l'autre qui est dans la lune, ça commence bien... J'ai choisi le "express two courses lunch menu" . En entrée, j'ai pris du tzatziki avec pain pita. Pour le plat j'ai pris du souvlaki de porc avec salade & frites. Le tzatziki était bien assaisonné, même si on ne sentait pas beaucoup le concombre. Le pain pita, c'est une blague. Il n'est pas frais et si on a un petit pain pita entier, c'est bien (cf photo). Le plat a pris pas mal de temps à arriver (alors qu'on était 3 tables !). La viande de porc était très tendre, bien assaisonnée & bonne. Je ne peux pas en dire autant de la salade avec une vinaigrette tout du long qui n'était pas à mon goût du tout. Les frites étaient fades. Tarifs corrects.

We had a great selection of meal off the 2 courses for £14 menu. Chicken meatballs in a light pepper sauce. A moussaka main and a chicken souvlaki with chips,and side if lemon potatoes, absolutely delicious. Tentative staff and great value for money, oh great olives if your into olives great produce.

I could not recommend coming here. I came with my friend for dinner here tonight, it looked promising and my friend said he had been here before and was very forthcoming about the portions of food you get relative to the price. The prices really took me to expect that the portions of food would match the prices. Unfortunately we were both disappointed to see that for what we payed for, the portions were well under expectations, starter sizes. I ordered the Lamb souvlaki while my friend ordered the mixed grill. My friend mentioned to me while we were puzzled by the entree sized portions that the size were double last year according to his memory. I got a miserable plate of five bite sized portions of lamb for the 'low, low price' of £17! With 7 pieces of potato and an undressed pile of leaves as a salad on the side. Also a 'cheap' pint of Coke for £4.50!! I usually expect Greek restaurants for being generous, being a Melburnian, a city with over half a million Greek Australians, the restaurants there just serve you with massive portions, same as the Greek restaurants in Berlin! If you enjoy being ripped off, by all means come to this restaurant. 5 stars for the grift guys! I am sorry guys, but because I left hungry and felt completely ripped off, I had to give you a bad review, and I am the guy who usually leaves 5 stars!

We have been here a few times and as usual the food was amazing. We had Dakos for starters, Beef Stifado and Soufitos which was beef medallions with a lemon and garlic sauce, oven baked potatoes and vegetables with a bottle of Pinot Grigio. Excellent service and value for money .

Been here on many occasions, but this year I noticed a difference in the food….not as good as it used to be. Earlier in the year we visited and I was disappointed with the food, I normally have hummus then chicken souvlaki, the food wasn’t as good as normal, I thought it was a one off perhaps the usual chef was off. Our next visit the food was worse than the time before, hummus was watery & tasteless, the lemon potatoes weren’t lemony and very greasy, just not the lovely food this place used to serve. I assume they’ve had a change of chef, sadly we won’t be back. Staff aren’t up to much either, they forget drinks and mess up your food order etc. Not good at all…..shame, I really liked it in there. 🥺

Tasty food! The restaurant is nice and cosy.

I went here for a nice dinner with my husband, sadly the food was very disappointing. The best part of it was the olives and bread that you get as a complementary starter. The food was not fresh and it tasted days old and reheated. The vegetable mousaka was very disappointing we couldn’t eat even half of it. And the spinach and cheese pie tasted like an expired pie u forgot in your fridge. We paid over£50. Would definitely not recommend this place.

We needed a quick & light lunch in central Glasgow, so chose the Eliá in George Square. My wife & I had the Greek salad & my daughter had the express lunch. The food was excellent, quickly served by competent & friendly staff. We would certainly recommend this restaurant.

Visited this restaurant last night. Had hummus, olives and Tyrokafteri for starters. Vegetarian mousaka and Beef Stifado for main. Absolutely beautiful food. Service was second to none. Will definitely visit again when next in Glasgow.

Our group of eight friends left Eliá totally satisfied. Great service, a pleasant atmosphere and delicious food made for a totally enjoyable dinner. The pastitsio, soufrito, kleftiko and spanakopita were all very good and the portions were ample. We all highly recommend checking out this restaurant.

Appalling customer service, very disappointing. I have been a customer of this restaurant a few times before and today I was walked past it with my one year old baby (in the pram). I was looking for a baby change so I thought I would just quickly ask the waiter if I could use it, as unfortunately I did not have time to stop for lunch. It was 11.20am, the restaurant was extremely quiet, but I was told that ‘The boss does not allow me to use the baby change if I am not going to eat in the restaurant’. Obviously the boss and the waiter guy have never been babies themselves, and obviously they have never had babies or they might know that if if I wanted to stop for lunch - it would not have been possible as with a baby things are always a bit more complicated. Anyway, I will certainly never return to this restaurant in the future, as they obviously treat people in such an appalling manner. I will in fact use the restaurant next door who were incredibly friendly and understanding and allowed be to use their baby change without any problems.

Had lunch yesterday it was amazing great place definitely recommend .

Choice on the lunch menu is good value, however chips were a bit soggy. Apart from that everything was great Very friendly staff. I took my dog with me and staff were very good with her, but I had to ask for water and no treats offered 🐾😔. I love however that they accept dogs so will be back.

Excellent service, good wine, delicious food: perfect. (I had the taramosalata with pitta bread; and dolmathes.) Plus a glass of the house rose wine. Sudip and Sara gave great service.

£8 for two slices of Halloumu with a slice of tomato underneath each to start. Followed by six cubes of chicken ( which was nice) and some chips and green leaves as my main which was more expensive than the two course express lunch of which my dish was one of the options on it?(make it make sense). £4.50 for a bowl of sauce(peppercorn) is also hard to justify. Shame

Second visit and still loved it.

I recently dined at Elia and it was an incredible experience from start to finish. The food was outstanding – I ordered the lamb skewers and chicken meatballs, and both dishes were bursting with flavor. The lamb skewers were perfectly grilled, juicy, and seasoned just right, while the chicken meatballs were tender and packed with rich Mediterranean spices. To wash it all down, I enjoyed some Keo beers, which were crisp and refreshing, complementing the meal beautifully. It was the perfect drink to pair with such flavorful dishes. What truly set the experience apart was the service. The staff were attentive, friendly, and made sure everything was perfect throughout the meal. Their warm hospitality added to the overall charm of the evening. If you’re looking for delicious Greek food in a welcoming atmosphere, Elia is definitely worth a visit. Will visit again for sure.

Cafe quality not restaurant Can do better elsewere

Good for a simple quick lunch at a reasonable price. A few slimy/composting leaves in the salad and being misgendered by one server took the edge off a simple lunch with very nicely cooked and flavoured chicken. Food too salty for my taste but that is subjective. Fast food feel so good for groups, family or tourist trip lunches but not for me a second time.

Dish sizes are smaller than before but prices are up

Went to this restaurant last Thursday and absolutely loved it! Service was the speediest we have ever experienced and our waitress was extremely kind! Prices were very reasonable and we had no complaints. I had never tried greek food before and this ended up being one of the best meals I have ever had out! You guys are missing out if U haven't been yet!

I ordered 2 kleftico lamb meals, and I was very disappointed with the one I was given. It was about 40% fat, and the amount of potatoes was miserly to say the least. It was basically a lamb shank, which I have never seen used in this meal before. Then the "waitress" got shirty when I said I was disappointed.. I personally don't think I could recommend this place to anyone.

After a movie ride on the motorcycle, we enjoyed a nice local beer BUT PLEASE NOTE WHEN PAYING THAT YOU ASK FOR A RECOUNT FROM THE PAYMENT MACHINE. WE HAD PAID, DID NOT RECEIVE A RECURR AND WERE RUN BEHIND BY ANOTHER WAITER WHEN LEAVING THE TERRACE. THAT WE HAD NOT PAID SO WE HAD NO RECUES SO NO LEG TO STAND ON

I recommended Elia Greek Restaurant especially for very friendly atmosphere and very helpfull staff. We were with 2 infants and for the first time we feel like guests not intruders. Thank you :)

Mousaka acceptable but our own is much tastier. Tasted dry and perhaps several days old. Beef youvetsi was good. House white nice not too acidic. Overall quite expensive.

A delicious Greek restaurant.. very close to the train station.. the atmosphere of the restaurant is nice, the staff are all wonderful and they do the job perfectly.. our requests Hummus very good 7/10 Mutton banana with rice 10/10 A very delicious dish Eggplant moussaka with minced meat and potatoes 7/10, a little extra spicy Seafood spaghetti, the seafood flavor is overwhelming, with an increase of 6/10

Not impressed. The chicken souvlaki was dry (overcooked and charred ++). Small portions and short on pita for the hummus appetizer. All in all, I’d give it a 6/10 from the many Greek restaurants I’ve visited.

I come here every time I'm on Glasgow and it's always lovely time. Very accommodating and tasty, and prompt and polite service.

They really know their cheeses! Super fast service too. Dad loved the lamb. Brother said even the spaghetti and meatballs was homemade meatballs.

An absolute gem of a Greek restaurant situated in the middle of George Square. We ate there twice on a break recently and had an amazing experience both times. Beautiful and relaxed surroundings, great staff and extensive and deliciously fresh menu. Can’t recommend highly enough, and can’t wait to return ❤️

A couple of minutes walk from Queens Street station, this restaurant is a gem. the staff were lovely, the food was great, the lunchtime menu was great value. Would have been 5 stars but one deducted for not been offered lunchtime menu when we walked in. The waitress who took our food order was surprised at this. Will definitely return on my next trip to Glasgow.

Great restaurant with authentic food and chilled atmosphere, service was good and a special shout out to Alexandra the manager who went above and beyond on a busy Saturday night and having worked in hospitality I understand how stressful that can be on a busy Saturday evening. Love this place, it’s a vacation in itself.

Been visiting for a few years and most recent visit the food was not up to standard. Smaller portions , poorly presented and no flavour at all. Such a shame as this is my go to usually. Good service , staff friendly and knowledgeable. Nice atmosphere, clean , not too noisy and nice decor

Disappointed in quality of food. Hummus was lovely but I ordered beef medallions with roast potatoes and vegetables. The beef was braised and smoothered in too much garlic butter. The potatoes were like chips and there was only 4 of them and the vegetables were soggy green peppers on the side. I won't be back.

Really good Greek food, the taste as if you were sitting in the sun on a Greek island. Highly recommended!

I think this can be summed up on the size of the portions. Good, crispy calamari and 5 dolmathes for starters. Main courses were very generous with large portions of food quality meat on both the beef stew and the sliced beef. No room for a dessert!

Reading the previous reviews helped us to decide to eat at Elia and we were not disappointed. The service was excellent and all staff were extremely attentive.. we chose taramasalata and aubergine dip as a meze and then had vegetarian dolomatkes and white bait to start.. these dishes themselves were extremely delicious but also very filling. Without knowing the quantity of the starters and mains we both ordered vegetarian moussaka with a Greek salad to share… all good again was delicious.. we had just ordered too much ..would definitely recommend but be aware of the amount ordered unless you are really hungry 😋

I Strongly recommend this restaurant for people who love homemade Greek food . The ingredients are excellent and the dishes very tasty! The service ( Nikos) is very polite and friendly. I had lunch with my daughter today and we were very happy of our choice. (Brunella and Maria Costanza)

First time visit with friends to this excellent greek restaurant in the heart of George Sq close to Queen St.Rail Station at the opposite end from Glasgow City Chambers.Huge menu for both food and drinks.Daily specials board.Old fashioned traditional Taverna atmosphere.Staff were really friendly and helpful with menu explanations.Presentation and quality of food were both excellent. Great greek food and reasonably priced in the centre of Glasgow. It was a midweek evening so quite quiet but I'm sure it would have more atmosphere on the weekend.

The staff working there were incredibly rude. The food was sserved warm, but I ordered calamari in multiple places before and this one was far behind the others.
