The best food I had during my entire three weeks in Scotland! I loved the quesadillas. They were seasoned and cooked perfectly and the fries on the side were 👌🏻. Would love to go back and eat here.

closed? we tried going on the 3rd and 4th of april and both days it was closed while on here it said it was open.

We went here so excited for some nice food and we're extremely disappointed. The male worker had an awful attitude and the food was 3/10. The two staff sat giggling and laughing at us as we ate the oily tacos and burritos. Wouldn't recommend, so many nicer food options in the area.

Great Mexican street food in the best part of Edinburgh. Various options of meats + a single veggie option which I think they could expand on a little more. It was fast and easy which is what we were looking for. Great interior design which adds to the atmosphere. I believe it’s fairly low priced considering the quality of the food which was amazing. £7 for a loaded burrito, can’t go wrong. Only reason I took a star off is because we went in two days in a row at different times and they didn’t have meat. The food itself for the price is 5/5

Food was good. Burrito's, Taco' made with various meats of your choice, ranging from beef, pork and chicken. Good street food.

Been here a few times now and every time got served straight away, food was excellent, staff very friendly and price was class for centre of town. No down sides.

Honestly not bad for Mexican food in Scotland. A great eat for anyone missing Tex-Mex.

Fair burrito, meat was only warm but the rice was stone cold in the filling, found it strange as used to having hot fillings, so not to my taste unfortunately, portion size was good but tight on the meat, packed with the cheaper ingredients, however the prices were keen....

Don't usually give reviews but will make exception for this place... Absolutely the WORST customer service I've ever had in any Edinburgh eatery!! Walked in at 12.35 lunchtime yesterday 26 Aug 2022 with 3 friends hungry and ready to spend our cash! The place was empty apart from four members of staff all standing behind the counter 2 of them stuffing their faces with food and the other two looking blankly into space ! We stood Infront of them at the counter and not one of them greeted us or acknowledged us ... Just cramming food in their faces and staring gormlessly through us.... In the end I said hi and asked if they were actually open one of them gave me a one word begrudging 'yeah'.... So we then waited for them to offer us some service but no they carried on chowing down on their food and disinterestedly ignoring us.... Again I made contact and asked 'how this works, do we sit, do we order at counter?' The girl just pointed up and said 'read that'.... At that point I said actually no we're not staying here we'll eat somewhere the staff are actually going to interact with the customers, I told them their customer service stank...there was no customer service no greeting no acknowledgement no interest we seemed to be a massive inconvenience as they grazed on food and did absolutely nothing.at which point one of them said are you serious to which I said totally.... You guys had totally ignored us since we walked in, no effort to welcome us or ask how you could help us...totally not interested...yet u were shocked when we said we're not staying and why!! 100% worst customer service I've had in a very long time...really hope who ever owns this place reads this because your staff are ruining your business and totally taking the p√$$ out of you and wanting paid for doing sweet FA !!! 🤬🤬🤬

I was craving some Mexican food when I came across el toro. I ordered a couple of tacos and wasn't very impressed. Have had way better Mexican food.But the staff was friendly and kind and the service was quick.

While we were there we were pretty surprised - low prices, looked like decent place on a nice location. It wasn’t the cleanest place but kinda fine. Food looked good although a bit soggy. But a few hours later both me and my partner couldn’t get out of the toilet. Not sure if it was the low quality of the food there or the fact nobody is using gloves and they had dirty hands.. we were there yesterday my stomach is still really upset from that dinner. 😩 In my opinion avoid the place. Or get just the chips and drinks. 🤷🏽‍♀️

No food safety and very poor hygiene by the two guys. One was scratching his back, touching his nose etc and then serving the food, folding burritos no gloves etc. Food was old, spoiled and overpriced. Very dissapointed

They were very friendly and the burrito was excellent 😍 dog friendly, we even asked for an extra cucumber for our lovely puppy and they served it’s so nicely 😋

Very average. Some of the things seem authentic and with lots of flavor, while others are bland and boring. Nice and polite service. Terrible music. If you like to different hot sauces they have a huge selection!

Staff smelled the beans then put them on our burritos.... Chips were crumpled little bits and stale. They shouldn't have been served to us.

After one burritos you are full but they are good!

The food was banging & the two girls working were doing a fab job!! There were loads of customers, some of whom were very impatient, yet they kept their cool & provided a great service!! Hope they’re doing okay after what was probably a very stressful shift!!

Mexican street food is some of our favourites and it didn't disappoint. Food was full of flavour and delicious, and considerably cheaper than the rest of the street, even when eating in, which was a bonus. The staff were really friendly and polite. Restaurant decor was good fun as well. Highly recommend.

Unexpectedly they had amazing tacos with corn tortilla and Cactus!!! A massive selection of spicy sauces that you can try and all the Mexican vibe!

Terrible attempt at Mexican food!! We’re from California where Mexican food is done properly and we’re convinced whoever created this food has either never had Mexican food or has forgotten what it should taste like. There wasn’t a slight hint of cumin, chili powder or chipotle (in a chipotle chicken burrito!). They used plain white rice that wasn’t seasoned at all and a bleached pinto bean?? Truly, the only thing that tasted good was our Corona. The staff was super friendly and helpful, though. They were awesome— just wish the flavors attempted to be so as well!

Bad experience. Me and my friend were searching for a restaurant after going to the market nearby and we came across this one. We asked if we can use the toilet facilities before ordering and the guy that was at the front guided us to the toilet. Midway the lady that was working there started complaining very loudly for some reason to the guy that guided us. We finished up very nicely but then when we were about to go up to order she started making us really uncomfortable then when we thanked her she kissed her teeth and started cleaning loudly which threw up off and made up choose another restaurant.

Stopped in for a quick bite while on our bus tour. Absolutely loved this place - food was delicious, not expensive and the girl working was great! Also, the portion was huge! I’d highly recommend.

Pretty terrible food. I can safely say that I am not the only person to say that. The tacos weren't too good, were cold and runny, impossible to eat. I can't imagine how this could be better at any point - just a low quality restaurant for tourists

As a long time customer I was very much looking forward to a burrito. I arrived at 21:08 on a Saturday night, given the 22:00 closing time advertised online, and was told not very pleasantly that they had closed early due to lack of business. Given that I was about to provide business, this was not only disappointing but a little insulting, and I left hungry. Two stars reflective of the quality of the food from my previous visits, otherwise it would be blacklisted for general lack of customer awareness.

It has amazing price and food. Also has a bus stop infrastructure of the hotel so it's very easy to get to Edinburgh.

I have concluded that Edinburgh is severely lacking in the Mexican cuisine scene. Whilst the ingredients themselves were decent, I nearly cried when the guacamole, sour cream, and salsa were cooked into my quesadilla. Incredibly sad. Also, the menu online is out of date. There are only premixed frozen margaritas on the menu, despite a healthy selection of tequila. Some fresh limes and authentic salsa would do this place wonders. My boyfriend, who has not had nearly enough Mexican food in his lifetime, would like it to be known that he still enjoyed his tacos.

The person who prepared our tacos was super kind and fast. Unfortunately, the tacos were not good, the salsa was very cold and wasn’t tasty (tasted like jar salsa). Meat was kind of tough. Didn’t taste Mexican, sorry 😔

We were hoping for some tasty Mexican street food as that was the impression from outside. Unfortunately food was awful, tasteless and runny salsa, cold rice and meat in our burritos. Girl working there was nice but seemed to be new to it as very slow. On top of that weren't wearing gloves when preparing food and rolling burritos. We were watching her for a bit after and no sign of washing hands between customers and after handling cash. Very disappointed.

Food was ok, but staff touched food with their hands without using any gloves or sanitizing them. I ordered tacos, and, according to the menu, they were supposed to be filled with meat and beans, but I had to pay for meat separately and didn't get any beans.

Pleasant atmosphere and friendly staff, but overall the food was not very tasty (we tried several tacos as well as nachos). It would do the trick as comfort food after a few pints nearby, but I would not recommend to anyone looking for traditional Mexican food.

I visit this place every time I visit Edinburgh… I really love the Tacos here, great food, great staff, very helpful and patient and you can’t go wrong with a cheeky frozen Mary before my trip home. Love this place 👌🏼

A big portion of over priced tasteless rubbish, quiet for a reason I soon realised. This wasn't street food but sat in tubs waiting to be slopped into a burrito that it poured out like soup. On the one hand the two cocktails we had were good but there was only one type of 4 actually avaliable. Note to management this type of food needs lots of spice and flavour, looks like you ran out of that as well as the alcohol. Staff pleasant though but they did recommend the food....

Ate there twice over a few days. First time ordered online, paid for various extras and found that barely any of them had been added once we got home to eat (no lettuce, no tortilla chips, wrong beans, no salsa). Not ideal, but the food tasted excellent and we let it slide. Decided to go in and order the second time. Still missing lots of their ingredients (maybe brexit supply issues?). I told them I had a milk allergy, but was concerned that a bit of cheese ended up in my burrito and it was clear that it was a complete mess behind the counter. These things happen, so again, let it slide. However, all in all, I would summarise that the food is really delicious, but it's a toss up as to which ingredients are in stock and if you do decide to order online, expect to get mildly ripped off if they don't have a certain ingredient on the day.

Average food, fair prices, but I wouldn't come back. Not sure why but the ladies that made my burrito didn't use any gloves ... and she did the same with all orders before me too and didn't wash her hands after.. I wanted to question it but the service was so slow that after waiting for our turn for 15 mins I just was hungry and didn't want to tell anything anymore, just decided not to come back. We ordered burritos and tacos, on the menu it said that tacos come with beans and slow cooked beef, however, in reality the filling for tacos was exactly the same as for burritos - what is the sense of trying different things then? Food was okay, but i guess you don't need to go somewhere to eat this kind of tacos, nothing special. Don't recommend this place to anyone.

The food was of average standard, which can be understood since this is a budget restaurant. The person taking my order made each individual dish as I was placing my order- wouldn't it be better to take the full order, make the food and have all dishes ready at the same time? However, the worst part was trying to get enough napkins for the four of us. Were we supposed to share paper serviettes? I wouldn't recommend this place, which I guess won't matter, since it's in the Grassmarket and they'll never be short of customers.

Awesome burrito! We came from Oxfordshire in England and there’s a burrito chain where we’re from called Mission Burrito, but after having there, I can’t quite decide if this one is even better! We’ll definitely go back again!

My family and I happened upon El Toro Loco on a visit to Edinburgh today. The food was utterly amazing, so tasty and fresh, the woman who served us was great with us and made sure we were fed well. We will be back on our next visit.

On the plus side the food was nice although the Nacho sides were way too small. In terms of feedback, I'm afraid the staff seemed disinterested and failed in some of the basics of customer service.

We chose this place to enjoy some Mexican food. The decor was amazing but the menu was confusing and the quantities rather small. Drink choices were also limited. Its a diner with some Mexican decorations

I bought a loaded burrito that was was smaller than the regular size one. The burrito was cold and the rice was hard. It used to be a good place to eat, now it's just awful.

Awesome Mexican Fast Food restaurant in the trendy Grassmarket district of Edinburgh. Friendly Staff and delicious food and a great price! We had the pulled pork and chicken burritos with a side of nachos. Oh man these were so good! They also have a wide variety of hot sauces to try on the shelf by the door! Watch out for the 'Pain is Good #37 Garlic Style Hot Sauce', that stuff tastes so good but will blow your socks off!

Not good. Quality of food and salsas are all basic and quite poor. Chips poured out of bags, salsas all seem to taste the same, albeit a great location. Walked a few blocks after a few bites and had much better Mexican food.

As everyone knows at Scotland is very cold, and inside of the place it wasnt to warm. Someone should have a look to the place temperature. It was abit cold for us. Thank so much.

Some days ago I was there. The treatment of the staff and the food was great. The only complaint I can have is that the place was very cold, I even had to eat with my coat on 😂😂😂🌨️⛄❄️.

Use to come here a lot and I’ve had a whole range of experiences. On most occasions it has been great value for money, huge burrito for about £6. On other days they’ve had no rice because they haven’t bothered to start cooking any before their current supply ran out. Forgot to put half of the toppings on my quesadilla and tried to convince me they weren’t included and had to pay extra - when I’ve ordered the exact same item numerous times before and it says right on the board what should be on there. Another time put about 3 tiny pieces of grated cheese on my burrito. I just wish this place could be consistently ok. On the plus side they have a good selection of hot sauces.

I just want to start by saying that the food wasn't bad, it just wasn't great either. I had a burrito and it just didn't have an amazing amount of flavour. I think they need to up the seasoning and spices.
