Great food 😋 and friendly staff 😍 Thank you

Food was superb ,so good I forgot yo take photos. I had Ribeye with additional king prawn skewer, pepper sauce and Dauphinoise potatoes. It was delicious. This is now in my top 3 favourite places to eat.Staff were polite and gave an excellent service

Had to change my review. This was my second time here and it was terrible. Staff don't listen when taking drink orders. Asked for a pint but received a half pint. Was charged £3.25 for half can of sprite and £2.80 for the fresh orange.£6.05 for half pint fresh orange and lemonade outrageous 😡 Steak wasn't the greatest very chewy and fatty.

We just had a fantastic dinner there last night with lamp steak and sirloin. The meat was perfectly tender, juicy combined with wonderful roasted potatoes. We highly recommend the restaurant.

Such a nice place to eat, it was the first time we have been and will definitely return. The food was so good and the service was spot on. We would highly recommend

The only negative thing I can say is that the salad dressing isn't very nice. Other than that, fab!!!

The food and the staff were excellent with the atmosphere suffering slightly due to the restaurant being a bit on the small side, it felt a bit cramped but we will definitely be returning ASAP.

Food is amazing 😍 gastronomical orgasm. Waitress will show you the meat they have and you will see steak ready in a very short time afterwards. Also will be explained everything about the meat before ordering 😉Worth every penny.

Visited on a Wednesday evening, surprisingly busy for a Wednesday night. Had a gift voucher from my daughter and her partner. We had to contact them to extend it due to medical issues. They were very accommodating. I had nachos as a starter, Fee had aubergine. I had the rump steak, and my wife had fillet steak. Both were excellent and cooked to perfection. The sides( sweet potato fries and salad ) were also very nice. Good selection of drinks and dessert options. The staff were friendly and attentive, without being obtrusive. The prices are very reasonable. We will definitely be back. If you're looking for a pleasant venue and good steak, you'll be pressed to find better in the area.

Visited on a Saturday night, 5:30pm table, already busy with most tables taken. Great buzz about the place. A member of staff explained the cuts of steak which is always helpful. Well cooked, delicious, steaks and lovely sides. Highly recommend, make sure to book!!!

Went there on Saturday and the food was out fast. Perfectly cooked and the food was honestly to die for. Would highly recommend going if your thinking about it. The server Melissa couldn't do anything more to help us which was great to see

We came to El Toro Gaucho to celebrate our engagement and the place is just incredible. We are going back this weekend to celebrate another milestone! The quality is of Edinburgh but the prices are more reasonable. We had the Steak sampler (for two) between us, with a lot of red wine, with no starters - it was a huge portion but we managed to finish it all between two. If you got some starters as well, this would do 4 people. Next time I'd like to try the Tomahawk. We need to support restaurants in Bathgate of this quality.

Absolutely fabulous, raw meat demo of each cut, immaculate decor, first class service, and the chef / quality of all 3 courses was phenomenal. Definitely returning soon. A little gem of a place to eat.

I'd go back here any time. We had a steak and a burger and both were excellent, perfectly cooked with great sides. I reckon the burger was the best I can remember having at a restaurant recently! There was a good crowd already at 6pm on a Monday night so I reckon you'll have to book to be safe!

Went here last night (Saturday) at 5pm for dinner. There was only a couple of people in at 1st but soon the restaurant was full. We were shown a selection of raw steaks and advised the name of each one. We decided we would have the beef skewers and the chicken skewers which were delicious and cooked perfectly (well done) We then both had dessert and washed it all down with a lovely Rose wine. The staff were great and attentive but not overbearing. I would have probably taken stars off as the restaurant was unbearably hot due to how small it is. When I mentioned air conditioning to one of the staff they said there wasn't any but opened a back door which helped greatly. My husband and I had a lovely time and will definitely be back

If you want a steak in west Lothian this is the place. Fantastic meat cooked and served to a high standard, definitely recommend!

If you like a steak and your in West Lothian. You don't need to go to the city to get a great steak meal. Try here. I had heard it was better to book. So I did and glad I did. Saturday 27th Apr, busy time. The restaurant is quite small but that does not stop it from having a good atmosphere, it's tastefully decorated. The staff were attentive and the service was very good. The menu is specifically steak but there are other options. See pictures of menu. The food was served on hot plates which is always a good sign. My wife and I both had steak which was cooked just as we asked for. Along with a variety of sides like fries, mini roasts, onion rings, broccoli and sauces like whisky or garlic. All downed with a nice bottle of red wine. Very well presented, 🤔 and delicious 😋. Did not have a starter so had a pudding the rice pudding was not too filling. All in all a great job and a great night out.

Really excellent meal last night. Always great to find a good local place to eat, and it was, genuinely, one of the best (Ribeye) steaks I’ve had for a long time; and that includes enjoying going to Hawksmoore and other far more expensive places. Staff were great too, and we’ll definitely be back.

Great wee restaurant with good food. We were shown the chefs "specials" steak selection while perusing the menu. Our main server Grace was welcoming, friendly and attentive. Our meat was cooked as we asked, good quality and decent portions. We will definitely return.

Wow what a fantastic eating experience. 12oz sirloin steak with daupinoise potatoes pepper sauce , tomato's on the vine , mushroom and rocket, the followed by hot crispy churros with ice cream sauce and chocolate flake , it was all mouthwatering. I have been to Miller and Carters a few times and this is definitely on par if not better . Staff friendly and happy to help, they are a credit to you . I can't wait to come back

Was in the bar for atleast ten mins before we went looking for any staff as we weren't sure where we to go,didn't realise there was an upstairs,got seated,lovely girl waited on us,food was dry and not eaten part of the meal was missing.

Had the 12oz sirloin steak with a peppercorn sauce with parmasan mash! Absolutely lovely! Plus the bottle of red wine (Malbec Goyenechea Centenario) was GREAT with it 👍 I am happy & slighty pished 🤣

I really like El Toro, steaks are great service is great but I feel they could do much better with the side salad, and dressing. Maybe put more beers on even a peroni gluten free, the chips are ok aswell but the sauces could be much more tasty. The peppercorn and Diane sauce are bland and there are so much better out there in a bottle. Love the steak cooked to perfection maybe think about a deal through the week and a lunchtime deal Would go down a treat, atmosphere a little boring :(

Nice place to eat but very expensive for 2 people. It was 70 for 2

We had the sharing steak plater. The steaks were cooked to our liking. All of them were melt in the mouth. I really didn't think that I would be able to eat all of it plus chilli broccoli and chips. I ate the lot and still had room for sticky toffee pudding and ice cream. Fantastic place and we've told all of our family who live locally about it I'm sure they will love it as much a we did. Thank you to the friendly staff and especially to the chef. We do not live locally but when we come back to visit family, we will most definitely be back

Fantastic birthday meal with friends, the food was amazing and staff were friendly and first class, well looked after with brilliant food and company.

I recently moved back to Bathgate with my fiancé after many years of living in Edinburgh and have been to this restaurant a few times over the past year. Each and every time we visit both the food and staff are absolutely fantastic! I have tried just about everything on the menu as I like to try new things and each time i can honestly say I was blown away. If you haven't been already, I highly recommend you pop along as you won't be disappointed.

Food lovely but service poor. Starters finished before drinks arrived. Staff not very attentive or friendly. Was fairly quiet on a Wednesday night , would have understood wait if it had been busy.

Great food. Steak was well cooked and roasted potatoes were very tasty. Staff were attentive and helpful. I've only given 3 stars for atmosphere as we were given a table right next to front door and it was cold and we were constantly interrupted by people coming and going. Also coat stand was next to table so lots of interruptions with people hanging up or collecting their coats. I will definitely go back as food was lovely but if I'm offered this particular table again, then I'd ask to be moved.

Dining on a Thursday early evening. First of all, the service was friendly, relaxed and helpful. We ordered some bread to try out the chimichurri and they kindly brought, without prompting, an extra piece so that nobody at the table was left out! The atmosphere was pleasant, not too overbearing, warm and with a good buzz. The food - well it was was delicious, easily one of the best steaks I've had in recent years and cooked exactly to order. Bathgate has its share of other restaurants of varying quality, but El Toro Gaucho is exactly what it needed to mix things up! Will definitely be back.

Christmas day experience here was outstanding All 3 courses were wonderful & the rice pudding was one of the best things I've ever eaten Service from everyone was fantastic & the whole thing seemed to run very smoothly from the customer's point of view We can't wait to return to try the normal menu

The service was abysmal. We were asked multiple times if we had put in our drinks order by different waitresses which suggests they don't have a good system. Chipped glass, only one steak knife (4 people), missing dishes, wrong dessert order and a mistake on the bill that they decided to argue about instead of making it right. Not to mention it took forever. The atmosphere was ok except it was packed so it was hard to hear others at our table. The food was hit and miss. The steak seemed decent quality but we ordered 4 steaks and they all varied in temperature even though they were all ordered medium rare. Fries were unseasoned and I am pretty sure the onion rings were frozen. I was looking forward to the some fresh chimichurri but I ended up surprised that the US wasn't invading the restaurant for the insane amount of oil in the cup. Overall we were disappointed in the quality. All that combined led to a really disappointing visit.

Had wanted to come here since it had opened. The staff were very nice and attentive. You could feel the warmth from them, and they are passionate about the restaurant. The food was top quality. Without even asking, we were shown the steaks, which I thought was a lovely touch. The steaks are good quality, and the sides are so luxurious. Thank you for the dessert recommendation! Will come back!

Fabulous food! Steaks cooked to perfection and chips were crispy on the outside, most inn the middle.

Amazing meal and girls who served were fab. Only downside was table beside us was literally right beside us and we had no privacy to chat. Heard everything from people beside us. Felt quite uncomfortable like we were intruding on a private conversation. Next time I'll ask for a booth if available for 2 people. Apart from this 1st class.

This was our first experience at this amazing restaurant… and it won’t be our last. The staff were warm friendly and attentive. Restaurant was busy and cheerful which helped create a lovely ambiance. Now to the food…. It a was amazing… best steak ever. Such a varied menu too. Would definitely recommend this little gem.

I had a rump steak and my wife had lamb rump. Both meals were cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. Even the coffee afterwards was good. The staff were very friendly and attentive. We will be back again .
