Great food, lovely staff. We all enjoyed our meals and had loads of chat with the staff, particularly Olivia. We were there at the end of the evening and they never rushed us away at all. Also had a similarly lovely experience the week before. Portions are generous and food is tasty. Well done, guys :-)

Perfect location for good bars and restaurants. El jefes is a Funky bar/restaurant and great for a few cocktails 🍹 and/or food. The food we had was good portion size and very tastey. 10/10. Was a lovely day and also have outside seating of your lucky to get as very busy. Definitely recommend trying for nice Mexican food in a great area.

Got a chicken curry, chips and prawn crackers tonight. Easily one of the best Chinese takeaways I have ever had. Staff are always very friendly too Our old local takeaway changed hands a while back. Had been looking for a new place and this is now definitely it.

Had pre ordered two lots of Sunday roast for 3 of us on Friday but when we arrived they didn’t appear to have a note of it . Ordered drinks and waited ages ( 45 minutes ) for food . We’d asked why there was a delay and was told that food is only cooked when we arrive ? Thought that was the point of pre ordering ?? No apologies for the wait or maybe a heads up on how long the food would be and maybe order some nachos or nibbles ?? The food when it arrived was good , the sides are brilliant but I think you’re depending on them to fill you up as there was not enough meat for four people in my opinion . If I’d been there with three mates rather than my son and daughter we wouldn’t have been chuffed . Dissapointing as the Finnieston one was highly recommended. Staff pleasant enough but really should have said food would be a while and it wasn’t that busy !!

Always order from here. Chicken balls were fresh and hot. Highly recommend.

Review update, food has gone way downhill, used to rave to people in the area about this place, don't know what's happened but after 3 terrible takeaways in a row, I've been reduced to looking for somewhere else, gutted.

Lovely looking restaurant and lovely wait staff, however very understaffed and they were run off their feet. Place was cold and had to wear coat entire time. Tables very close together and no room on table for food. Food we had was really nice and place could be great if they made a few adjustments.

So good! Staff were quick, food was gorgeous. Love the sombrero hats and the shots. Definitely want to come back with a group.

Went out as a family of six with a high chair also the building was lovely presented but shocking facilities in terms of disabled toilets I was unable to change a dirty nappy as I found the only changing / disabled facilities as the photo shows. I asked if there was any other changing facilities and leaded back to the mess of this bathroom where the guy told me could clean it out for me and never came back to say it was cleaned although it would of needed a proper deep clean as it smelled like bin juice / bin shed. As for food most of table enjoyed but I ordered chicken and received pork later seeing on receipt so never ate much not being sure why I didn’t like it until seeing the receipt. Service wasn’t anything soeacial by staff and the toilet situations was truly shocking espically for disabled people that need it Also don’t promote deals for 2 for 1 tacos and are overpriced otherwise

I’ve been twice to El Jefes and really enjoyed. I don’t know why the reviews are so poor. Friendly staff, lovely drinks, relaxed, fun casual atmosphere, great menu and food. Came with a friend in March before a concert - liked that they were playing music to suit- tried to return with my son before another concert in June but we hadn’t booked and they were packed! (So I would book to avoid disappointment) Came again with my husband before a show in October, this was last minute and we hadn’t booked but managed to get a small table with bar stools. When people ask for recommendations El Jefes is on the list and I will definitely return.

Awful awful service - run by a group of young and unfortunately extremely unprofessional front of house staff. They couldn't have cared less - openly trying to get us to leave before we had finished our meal by turning the music off and putting their jackets on (it was 8.30pm - appreciate it was a midweek evening but come on!) Such a shame as the food was excellent. El Jefe's management if you do bother to read these reviews you need to train your staff properly or at least get a grown up in to oversee what is going on.

The food did take a while to come but still came warm and tasty! When I rang the restaurant to ask about updates, the guy on the phone was so lovely! Can’t fault him at all, really nice and friendly

Great food. The hot green curry is superb.

Building looks great, food was pretty good when it came. Attentiveness of serving staff and timeliness was poor. We sat for a good 15 minutes and questioned whether we had to order at the bar before someone sauntered over to eventually take our order followed by roughly another 15 minutes before the drinks arrived. Seemed to be a lot of pals hanging around taking up seats.. bit of an odd vibe. Don’t believe the the tic toc videos. Has great potential though. Very pricey too.

Could be excellent if staff were trained properly. Didn't know what certain dishes were on menu, food look warm so had to return, starter forgotten, no offer of dessert or coffee but actual food( once heated through), was delicious. Service is the first thing the customer sees. Make it a good experience and improve the staffs understanding of what good looks like!

Here for an anniversary dinner, waited an hour and a half for our dinner. Staff disorganised and just shocking service. Seriously disappointed - we thought a Monday night would be better. Out for an anniversary dinner which was ruined by the service.

Went to the one in town and thoroughly enjoyed it. The food and service were spot on and the portions great value for money.

Hugely disappointed, very few options left on the menu, visited on a Sunday early evening and was told they had run out. Really limited menu and foot just ok. Staff were pleasant but very disorganised. Also had a small choice of desserts and wine left.

Good food, well prepared, inexpensive, tasty, and quickly delivered to the table. Tables not all terribly comfy to sit at, but there's a mix, so you might get lucky. Live band was good, and the staff were helpful and attentive. Not an accessible venue as the toilets are down a flight of stairs near the kitchen.

We came to try out the Mexican Sunday Roast we had heard about and it did not disappoint. We went for the chateaubriand and it was delicious. It came with some lovely veg, some sauces and 2 big yorkies. Was nice to try a different take on Sunday Roast and would deffo recommend.

Have you ever seen the Monty Python Cheese Shop sketch? If you have, you'll have a fairly good idea of what my first experience of El Jefe's was like. After being seated and browsing the drinks menu, our party of 4 was asked if we'd like anything to drink. However, we were told it had been a busy weekend and so several wines were unavailable. We managed to order a bottle that was in stock and were off to the races. One of our party then asked for a pint – El Jefe's only serves one type of draft beer (Madri) – but we were told it was off. Bottled beer was ordered instead, the drinks soon arrived and it was time to order food. We decided to order 4 taco pairs, the top 3 choices on the menu (lamb, steak, chicken) plus a baja fish one. Incredibly, we were told that no lamb, steak or chicken was available. At this point, early evening on a Bank holiday Monday, it was time to cut our losses and go somewhere else. We expressed our dissatisfaction to the waitress, noting that we should have been told about the limited stock before we made a drinks order. Although we were told that we wouldn't have to pay for our drinks, we left the bottle of (screw-top) wine untouched and made our exit. El Jefe's has been open for several weeks now, so there's no excuse to offer such a dreadful experience, not when there are other good options nearby. Safe to say, we won't be back.

First time visiting and we sat at a pretty cramped table however, service was very quick and staff were friendly and gave us some tortilla chips to much on while we waited for our meal. When the food arrived and it was great. Really enjoyed my carne asada tacos, the jalapeño poppers were also delicious. The issue was portion size in relation to the price. £10 for two tacos seemed a little expensive, although I understand the ingredients might be higher quality than some other Mexican places.

I order from here regularly but won't be now. I placed an order of £35 and asked for the chips and ribs in the set meal for 2 to be changed to salt and chilli. I wrote in the comments section that we where happy to pay extra to cover that. The manager got one of the staff to phone me and get me to order those items separately on top of what i had already ordered. The price difference from barbecue ribs to salt and chilli is like 20p of a difference which we where happy to pay actually even if yous had added on like £10 I wouldn't have even cared. Yous have just lost a customer for your weird awkwardness.👍 Also ordered a few month back and the driver never even charged us for our food. When my wife realised the mistake yous had made we rushed to call yous to get yous to come back and get your money. It was like £40 aswell and yous never even knew and we called to tell yous. Looking forward to trying some new restaurants.

Ordered soup and rice that took two hours to arrive. Flavourless, disgusting food - the hot and sour soup was gelatinous and the fried rice had no egg.

totally scunnered and shocked by the way the manager of this shop treats his staff. Somethings can't be helped family related car problems and the way he was treated is out of order no respect for others. This manager doesn't just steal his staffs tips he also trys to be little the younger members of staff and takes 30% of any delivery that is done he also takes 30% of the tips. I am disgusted by the way wong treats other human beings. He should be ashamed of himself I have ate out of this shop since the day it opened. Wong what can I say I am disgusted in the way you run your buisness you couldn't run a bath I feel sorry for any members of staff you have left. I'm sure they won't be there long! goodluck in your 'buisness' Trust me you will need it.

Ordered a special curry was really enjoying it until I pulled a big black hair out of it.

Amazing service, fantastic food, delivery is always very efficient would 100% recommend the Far East.

Absolutely terrible scran and a delivery time that took 1 hour and 45 minutes (40 over expected time). Chicken balls were soggier than the fields at TITP in 2009 and chips that were so cold and hard if I closed my eyes I would have thought I was chewing on a deadman's boaby fresh from the freezers at the morgue. Absolutely barkin' grub, and terrible, rude service! Avoid.

Ordered food at 7pm on their website. Advised it would be 75 minutes. After an hour and a half we phoned to chase it up and were told it would be another 25 minutes. Eventually turned up at 9.10pm and the majority of the dishes were lukewarm at best (they needed to be heated in the oven to be edible). Phoned and spoke to the manager who couldn't have cared less and effectively called me a liar for saying it was cold. She then hung up on me. They offered no compensation for the fact it was an hour late and cold. We have used this takeaway on multiple occasions and have recommended it to others. We won't be using it again.

Normally pick up food but ordered delivery through uber eats. Advised delivery time between 30 and 50 mins. Food took 2 hours and 20 mins to arrive and was cold when it arrived. Disappointing and bad service.

Ordered at 6.06pm food arrived just after 7.30pm. Food was freezing cold and also missing an item which I had specifically asked for. 1st and and last time ordering from here.

Placed an order online and for some reason it only allowed me to click & collect. This was probably my error as opposed to the website. My collection time was 5 and as I had to wait I assume the only prepare the food when you show up to collect it. The quality of the food was as good as usual.

Always enjoyed anything I've eaten from here. Girl on phone & in shop particularly nice helpful in my experience. Delivery prompt & when I've ordered to pick up always been ready. Food tasty & good portions. All goodx

Used to do great tofu dishes, that I ordered all the time and recommended. Suddenly stopped making them. Do you not want to cater to Vegan/Vegetarians and people who want to eat a healthy diet? Such a shame.

Despite website info, it doesn't open on Mondays. Beef curry could do with a wee bit more meat but otherwise FANTASTIC!
