Excellent service. Loaded fries with veggie chilli as a starter followed by enchiladas as main course. Excellent food. Good portion sizes and really good value for money. Would definitely recommend

From start to finish to staff helped in every way. The cocktails are amzing and they even make up any cocktail you want that isnt on the menu and they are perfect Nachos are fresh and gorgeous Fajitas and burritos lovely too. Will definitely be back

Our boss organised our staff night out here... the menu was on a A4 paper with only 4/5 main meals so not a lot to choose from. 4 of us had Nacho’s for starts not very big on portion size. One person was vegetarian so think only one meal to choose from and they got that wrong brought out a meat chilli dish. Good job the person re asked the staff member if it was vegetarian chilli because it wasn’t. So she had to wait for her meal while we was all eating.

I think this is suppose to be a restaurant or bar? Seems more like a club because of the deafening music. Not possible to carry a normal conversation in the midst of it. Came in for drinks and desserts which were good. Nice churros. But I really wish they lower the music so it’ll be ideal for a dinner outing.

Went recently and the kitchen had ran out of what the full table had ordered, fair enough it happens. So we picked again. The starters came out at different times. One of our orders was completely wrong. And then with the mains one of our friends food just never arrived. When he’d finally managed to tell someone and it had come, we’d all finished eating so he told them it was pointless and he didn’t want it. They was apologetic and offered to knock it off the bill but when the bill came this was wrong, we’d be overcharged and there was cocktails on there we hadn’t had. Food was bland, service was average. It’s nothing like it used to be. El chupitos used to be one of my favourite places to eat in Hull but it was just terrible. Won’t be going again.

El Chupitos, or just Chupitos now, is an average Mexican themed eatery that is let down often by a lack of attentiveness. Food: The food is average, although slightly more Tex-Mex than Mexican. It aways served within a reasonable amount of time and does taste of good quality. Portion sizes are decent. Drinks: Drinks, notably cocktails, are of high quality and their is a good range for decent prices to chose from. It is here, in my opinion, that the restaurant finds its strengths. Staff & Other: Unfortunately, visits to Chupitos have been marred by substandard service each time. The staff do not seem to know the menu and offers very well as on numerous occasions I have had to notify the staff of offers from their menu the they have not made me aware of (such as free drinks with certain 'meal' offers) etc. The menu's themselves are quite hard to read, with unfocused printing on the fonts. Further to this, on every visit I have been presented with a bill to the table which is incorrect and has orders from other tables on it. This is always rectified fairly quickly when mentioned, but it is a shame that this happens consistently and I do wonder how many people would pay the incorrect bill without checking it first. Chupitos most certainly has the potential to be a very good eatery as can be seen from other reviews here, I just haven't been fortunate enough to experience this yet. I have visited here a few times as I can see the potential and will no doubt try here again in the future due to the lack of Mexican eateries within the area, I just hope that I can experience a higher standard next time!

Had my hen party here and the staff went above and beyond! It was a brilliant night and as always the food was great!

Food nice as has been on previous visits. Had a range of enchiladas and burritos. The enchiladas appear to the a lot smaller than previously and a few of my friends commented that their meals were just ok, nothing outstanding. The visit let down by the service which has frequently been the downside to this restaurant. Although staff are pleasant, they seem unorganised and slow to serve and bring drinks. Would return as I enjoy the food but this restaurant could be a lot more better if service and portion sizes were improved.

This is a difficult review for me because this place has so much potential but it’s just not hitting the nail on the head. The venue is lovely! Great decor, good vibe. Staff again are friendly and we had quick service throughout. Furthermore, the pricing was excellent. But then the food came.... started well with beautiful chicken wings, but the mains were just really bland. I can’t describe them in any other way than bland. Lovely big portions, but lacking in any flavour at all. It’s such a shame because this place could easily be 5 stars, but they really really must sort out they’re food. If they get a chef who actually knows Mexican flavours then I’d 100% come again, but if not then I’d have to give it a miss because even I could cook tacos with more flavour and that’s using a pre made mix from Tesco!!!!!!

Excellent meal again well cooked food, service was very good and the cocktails where excellent. A great night had by all.

I am allergic to dairy and stated this when ordering my meal. The nacho started came covered in sour cream and cheese which we had to return to the kitchen for a fresh batch. The mains came out and again, my burrito was filled with sour cream and cheese, not realising this until I had eaten a portion. I had to return the main and sadly this was the end of our meal, by this point I was feeling rather unwell. I had pointed this out to the server when paying and he just apologised, I again pointed out I was allergic to dairy and they had actually made me very poorly and I was going to be up all night being sick. What I had said seamed to have gone in one ear and out the other, no offer of a reduction on our bill, no apology from the kitchen or manager to speak to. Truly a cowboy small time place that doesn't accomodate well for anyone else other than the 'norm'. If you are: Coeliac Vegan Dairy Free Have any type of allergy or dairy requirement... just stay clear of this place for your own health! They couldn't care any less about how tardy their service was and how they had actually poisoned me.

Amazing food all fresh and quickly served, great cocktails and hospitality of owner lady. Highly recommend this place defo will be back :)

Went here with a group of friends. There were a few diners in the venue, but not packed. I had the chicken fajitas. It was okay, but nothing special. The chicken didn't taste like fresh chicken (it wasn't very tender) It didn't have much flavour either. The accompanying salsa was just like eating granita, really wet, I think it was salsa? I can cook this a lot tastier myself.

The food is fabulous,good portion size and very well presented. The staff are great very helpful,and make your evening great.

I visited this restaurant with my friend at around 7.30pm on a weeknight. There did not seem to be many other customers at this time. We were seated and promptly asked what we would like to order despite having only been sat down for approx 3 mins. The waitress came and went 3 times within about 10 mins as I decided on what food I wanted to order. Once we had ordered our food at about 7.45pm, we got our drinks and all seemed fine. At about 8.15, we still hadn't received our food and considering how quiet it was, we wondered what was taking so long. It got to 8.25pm and my friend went to the bar to ask where our food was. It was apparently on the way, however they brought it over and had got my order wrong. No idea how they got my order wrong, they only had about 8 customers in so not much to get confused by. It then took another 5 mins for my correct order to arrive. As a concession, we were given a free round of drinks which was nice, and a free sauce with my order.

The venue actually looks rather nice so we felt like we made a good choice. However, after 20 minutes waiting for someone to take our food order, I was forced to flag down a waiter. We eventually got our food (over an hour after sitting down) and tucked in. I've never had such bland, tasteless food in a restaurant before. Absolutely awful.

On this occasion I opted for takeaway and can honestly it was horrendous to the point where KFC burritos are better need to sort it out guys

El chupitos has been our favourite place to visit for a meal for over 3 years but sadly it seems to be going down hill. Was disappointed on our last visit to see the sauces on the table has changed to what it used to be (seems this is a cost cutting exercise as the bottle looked tacky and not a brand Iv seen before and certainly didn’t taste nice) The fajitas came out not sizzling was literally just chicken on a normal plate and wasn’t favoured to its usual taste. None of us could take our coats off as the building was freezing and the toilets were dirty. We have never felt this way before about el chupitos and it’s a shame it’s lost it’s original reputation looking at some of the other recent reviews too.

We booked with only a few hours notice but was told there was room.

Visited on a Saturday night but was not too busy when we arrived, however did start to fill up when we were leaving. The food was very tasty and the menu has a lot of choice. Cocktails and beer also very nice. Staff seemed a little disorganised in terms of sending orders to the correct tables but all pleasent enough. We would return to try more off the menu.

Waited half an hour for drinks. Had to collect cutlery for both courses. Restaurant was cold. Drinks order was wrong. Main came with starter. Toilets stank and were filthy. Was out favourite family restaurant. We won’t be going back

Visited with friends (7) was a nice relaxed environment service was promt and quick we all ordered a selection of chicken and meat fajitas and all of us enjoyed our food and reasonably priced definitely worth a visit you won't be disappointed

Food was amazing..don't be put off because our meal was delicious. I just feel very let down by the staff.. we walked in to be informed we had to walk to a cash point as it was cash only. Upon our return we were sent to a table that had been allocated for us, right where the draught hit every time the door was opened. On the table were the remnants of what was a menu..they we're bloody awful and left a very poor impression. After waiting for nearly 15 minutes without seeing a staff member I went to the bar..the black haired girl with face piercing made eye contact and promptly turned to adjust the music..very rude. I was informed it was table service..we went and sat back down just as we had decided where we were going to go because we couldn't get service someone finally arrived to take our order. Pretty pissed off at this point we ordered soft drinks. Our food took only 17 mins to arrive and we were blown away. My husband had fajitas I had a burrito and we got a loaded fries sharer. It took 11 minutes for a check back and we were not offered top up on drinks. We asked for a takeaway box and the bill. Paid and left..the price was very reasonable and again the food is great.. FYI the manager, if your staff had been more attentive ie as soon as we sat down asked if we wanted drinks while we got settled in.. remembered where we were to take an order or asked if we wanted more drinks we would of spent more money. Your staff need serious retraining..

I have been here a few times with my mum, it’s quiet during the week, but quite busy at the weekend with many people going for drinks. I went when it first opened and I didn’t like it at all, however now I enjoy it every time. I usually get the chicken quesadillas tasty and my mum often gets the loaded chips which are a good price and a huge portion! It’s really the only Mexican in Hull, much cheaper then Chiquitos with better food and bigger portions!

Came here with some friends and my partner for some drinks as I’ve always fancied it. It was so disappointing.

On the recommendation of our children we decided to try this eatery (best description) on a Saturday night and these are our impressions.

Went there because of the good reviews from here and our friends, unfortunately we went there waited 1H15 to not get the course we wanted because they had no more guacamole... (No more guac in a mexican restaurant at 8 pm on a saturday...), the waiters pretty much ignored us the all time we were here and did not warn us for the late.

tried this eatery because of a write up in local paper and found good food good service however the level of noise will mean we will not return a combination of music to loud and the acoustics but I will say we are both in our late sixties but I would say it will appeal to younger people

Been here a few times now and have never been disappointed. .lovely food and drink with excellent service and to top it off the prices are very reasonable what more can I say ...

We love it here, the service is spot on and the mangeress always makes a point of looking after the tables.

We visited on Friday for tea. No one ever has greeted us and Friday was no different We went to the bar to get a drink and ask for a table. We ordered food after catching the waitresses eye and asking. Food came, fantastic as usual. After the meal, a waiter came to start clearing the plates and asked if we wanted anymore drinks. We ordered more and he went away. He never came back to clear the rest of the plates or with the drinks.

We had been a few times before but took a good friend while his wife was away. One of the best Mexican restaurants I’ve been in definitely the best in Hull, great starters and the steak and meat are so tasty and not to be missed excellent and varied menu. Good selection of draft beers as well as plenty of bottles too. Highly recommended great for a celebration or just a good meal, not expensive at all.

Two meals and two drinks came to £29. Fajita was good, only get 2 small wraps unfortunately. Mrs had a chicken burrito and it was huge. Waited longer than average for food. I'd try tacos if I went back

We got sat down quickly as we booked and were seen too quickly, I ordered a cocktail and my partner ordered a corona, cocktail was nice. Both me and my partner ordered the enchiladas, we had a chicken one and a beef one.

You get what you pay for which is not very good food. Portions are HUGE! But not very good. I had the taco salad, the lettuce was not very fresh, the steak was way too salty, there was an insane amount of dressing. Overall it was inedible.

Rather disappointing. Cheese and bean quesadilla lacked flavour. "Steak" taco salad was topped with what we assumed to be tinned steak like the type you'd put in a pie filling. The taco basket it came in was nice and crispy though.

Who'd thunk it. Just one more great restaurant find, actually a favorite of the friend that took us.

This is a place we continue to go to as not only is food great value the food itself is incredibly tasty! The staff are always willing to help and are very friendly. The atmosphere of the restaurant adds to the wonderful experience.

Really quick service and super tasty food, I had the chorizo and halloumi enchilada, which was superb, and there was absolutely loads! Was tempted into the churros for pudding too, which were a really tasty treat. The bill came to under £30 too for two mains, drinks and puddings. I'll definitely be back!

So we just visited here with family and the food was delicious!! I had chicken fajitas and my hubby had chicken enchiladas which were both beautiful. Cocktails were delicious too!! Definitely recommend a visit!

Been here a few times now, and in my opinion this is the best food available in Hull. Great service, cocktails, food and drinks. Cannot recommend this place enough. Will definitely be paying more visits in the future

Came here with friends on 19th October.

The cocktails in here are so nice could sit there all day and drink them plus £6 isn't too bad. Only had nachos here but was very nice and a big portion. Deffo worth a visit even just for a cocktail. All the staff was very helpful and was so nice as my friend was half a hour late

As we arrived, we were not greeted by anyone and so, after a while, decided to seat ourselves. A waitress came and handed us menus and then greeted us. She returned a few moments later to take our drinks order, just as the final member of our group was arriving. The waitress rushed us to order drinks, especially the late arrival and stood at the head of the table, rolling her eyes and tapping her own against her pad loudly whilst he decided. After we ordered our drinks (a mix of cocktails, soft drinks and water) it took a total of 20 minutes before we were given our drinks. Another 20 minutes passed - we had not been asked for our food order - and we sat rather anxiously. A member of our group had to go and locate a waitress (it is a small restaurant and it was not busy in the slightest) and ask whether we were able to order food. She took our order quickly and vanished again. Another 10 minutes or so passed and the waitress returned to inform us the kitchen had no potatoes and so we were not able to have the chips and side orders we’d asked for. She then told us they were waiting for a prep chef to arrive before they could prepare the food. Having been in the restaurant an hour, having been given only one drink, we decided to ask for a jug of water to be shared. Thankfully, this did arrive, but when the waitress placed the glasses of water on the table, she merely plonked them on the end of the table, leaving us to serve them round our group and she also removed our drinks from earlier (some still being drunk!) Eventually, our food arrived and was not delivered by a waitress but by the chef himself, in his grease stained t-shirt and checked bottoms, he spoke to us as if he was one of our friends dining with us. Very little professionalism from him! We ate our meals - tasty yet a little dry in places - and wished to leave. Again, it appeared all of the staff had perhaps gone home for the evening as there was nobody in the restaurant. We made our way through to the bar to find all members of staff stood talking behind the bar area. We were given our bill, which we intended to split equally between us. The staff asked us to work out how much we owed and then to tell them! They used our calculators on our phone to divide the bill between us. As we left, the staff simply returned to their conversations with little respect for the customers leaving or ones them entering the building.

Food was good very tasty and fresh we had fish tacos, chicken burritos and veg burritos it was delicious. There was obviously a few issues though as cash only sign on the door, no Diet Coke but the worst thing was the time we waited for the food to come out order was taking swiftly but we waited well over 40 mins for food it wasn't particularly busy 2x other tables and no apology for the wait.

You will struggle to find better Mexican food outside of Mexico. We have been multiple times and never had something that wasn't amazing. There is a really good lunch menu available during the week which is also very cheap. Everything is well priced and big portions. The cocktails are an art themselves and one containing 7 shots of Tequila is something very special. This is always my first choice on Newland Avenue

We decided to try this place after getting a 25% receiot from Ruby Lounge. Staff were really friendly and attentive. The food was good but nothing special. Interesting mexican decor though. Desserts prices were not too bad however protions a bit small. I ordered the churros which were tasty however I was told there would be about 4 or 5 when debating whether or not to get a dessert it wasn't until I ordered when I was told you only get three which I thought was a bit cheeky! So no complaints but wouldn't rush to come back.

Greeted and attended to by very friendly and helpful waiting staff. We were served quickly and the cocktails were amazing. I have multiple allergies so had to ask for mine plain and couldn't eat any of the sides. Instead I asked if I could have some lettuce to put on the side but was told no. I ordered what I had eaten here before as I knew I was ok with it and I really enjoyed it. However when it arrived it was over the top spicy. I couldn't bare to eat it. My friend ordered the same as me and she couldn't eat it either. We told the waitress that we had both asked for plain chicken but were told we can't have it plain, it comes with a spicy rub. I said last time I got it, it was simply chargrilled and was gorgeous. It didn't have any heat to it. She offered to take our food away but I said I would eat it anyway if I could put plenty of mayo on it to try to take some of the heat out. The waitress went back to the kitchen and told them that the food was too spicy and they agreed then to let us have some lettuce. It was still too spicy but I managed to eat it.I suffered for it the next day though. After we had eaten we visited the restroom where other customers were complaining that the chicken was far too spicy and they couldn't eat it.Hot sauce is available on the table for those who like extra heat. There isn't much to be done to take heat out for those who like a milder taste. Please consider customers who don't like spice. I may as well have eaten a vindaloo for how hot it was. Other than that the prices are very reasonable but it's put me off coming back again.

I went with a friend on his birthday 27/7. First time going and I must say I find fault in everything. However this place is very friendly and the food was brilliant. I also had cocktails. I couldn't find 1 fault. Will go again very soon.

We all loved our meal. But that was all. Seated on arival for 7 but 2 people had to sit on a different table from the rest. Our order was taken and the food came in good time. But the was no check back to see if we were ok. And when we'd finished our meal it took over 30 mins for the plates to be taken away. We were hoping for deserts but staff members were no where to be seen and did not ask after 15 mins we tracked down someone for the bill. We all put our money in. We where happy for left over money to be a tip but they didn't even offer to give us the change back. It was a busy Friday night but this had happen more than once now. I think the best time to go would be lunch time.

We were greeted by friendly staff upon our arrival and there was a good atmosphere about the place, although the music was a bit too poppy for me (it must be my age!) I would have liked to have heard some more traditional Mexican music.That said, the cocktails were delicious, the food was good and of a generous portion size. I would say that it was great value for your money and I would definitely recommend to other people.

Visited here on my birthday a Monday night. It was very busy which we later found out was due to a deal they do 2 fajitas and 2 cocktails for £20. The food was very nice and came quickly we had a couple of cocktails but was disappointed the frozen ones of our choice were not available. The atmosphere was good and the decor is really cool. Would go again especially for the deal offered.

Visited last night early doors so the restaurant wasn't really busy. The staff seemed friendly and helpful enough, drinks order taken and delivered fairly quickly, food order taken early aswell. Didn't wait that long, but when we got our meals they were poor. My partners was burnt so she cut all the burnt bits off and told the waitress to which she replied "I'll tell the chef" but nothing else, mine was very basic and pretty bland to say the least. We've eaten at several places down Princess Ave/Newland Ave and this was by far the worst meal we've had.Not somewhere we would go again much better Mexican's elsewhere I think.

Decided to go out for a family meal on Sunday 28th May, on entering there were no staff to advise if we just sit down or wait to be seated so we walked to a table, we were then shouted at to come here, we were then seated. There were signs everywhere and on the menu stating "2 4 1" cocktails, Sun thru Thursday, however when I asked if this was true I was advised "not on a bank holiday" I stated that today was not a bank holiday and was rudely told "its bank holiday Sunday" never know they existed.We ordered food but I requested that I have plain rice and not the rice that came with the burrito as I do not like coriander. A few minutes later the server returned stating that all the rice has coriander in it, I enquired if they have any plain rice and was advised no, we cancelled the order, had a few more sips of our drinks and I went to pay. I asked if I could have a discount as we were unable to eat anything and that we had not actually drank the drinks, I was asked why we couldn't eat, I stated the coriander, and was rudely told "this is a Mexican restaurant I think you will find coriander in all of the meals!" I stated that coriander is a South Asian, North African herb, Mexican is my favourite genre of food and have eaten in countless Mexican food outlets, including in Mexico and have never been offered coriander! The whole experience was terrible, the staff rude, the venue very dark and is difficult to read the menu, we left and ate at the Lodge just further down the road and had a fantastic meal.

This was our 3rd visit and we have had something different on each visit off the menu and we still can't pick a favourite Give it a go you won't be disappointed

Went for a Sunday late dinner, the place wasn't busy and we were seated as soon as we entered, we decided not to have a starter and we ordered our drinks which followed in quick time. I had already decided to opt for the foot long burrito as recommended by a mate and my wife had the steak burrito, the menu stated that the foot long burrito was filled with a selection of all 5 or 6 advertised fillings but I struggled to find anything other than a few pieces of chicken and a bit of mince, the main filling was rice and veggies. There were certainly no chorizo, steak or prawns in there, I complained to the waiter who knocked £3 off he bill for goodwill, pity really because we had eaten there before and the food is wholesome and tasty. We will probably eat there again and put this visit down to a blip.

Took the family for there first time after ive told them how nice it was and it lived upto my words lol ha after reading reveiw about fish tacos i tried them wow was unreal strongly recommend to try fish taco all the food is good quilty and portion sizes are huge for 6 off us with few drinks each was £94 great value

We visited here a few weeks ago and was disappointed, so decided to return - pleased we did! I once again had the fish tacos, but checked that the taco was soft, as on the previous visit it was more like a crisp. The guy informed us they must have run out last time and we would have been given the gluten free ones. Personally think they should have told us this when we ordered! However, pleased to say that when the tacos did arrive they were very nice. Although they have gone up in price! The revolutionary fries were also revolutionary and such a massive portion. The music was still a bit too loud, but we could just about have a conversation. The guy that served us was nice and friendly and service was good.There was five of us in total and everyone enjoyed their meals. The food offer is great and different to most places. We will definitely return.

Wow. What a great little find. A must try Great food though the portions are too big but my only constructive complaint apart from the hot sauce on the table. That is not hot !!! Needs upgrading. Service superb. Very friendly and accommodating Rustic ambience a fun place to go and great value. We had the taco selection. Very tasty indeed. Seeing other customers having a variety of what looked great alternatives. So will be back to try them. This is spicy food so don't expect it not to be. Looking forward to my next visit.

Visited on the bank holiday, mid afternoon. The place was fairly quiet so easily seated and not too much of a delay getting served. The funky decor and lively music added to the atmosphere. There was a couple ingredients missing from the dishes we were informed, but that didn't spoil the choices left from the menu. We also ordered cocktails from a fair sized list. Both food and drinks came in good time and were tasty and enjoyable, was all reasonably priced too.

When we arrived it was very busy and seems more of a pub to me than somewhere to eat. The music is definitely lively and great if you're wanting to get drunk and have a dance. Not ideal if your going for a family meal. The wait for food was about an hour. We ordered the chilli con burrito and the mixed meat and prawns burrito (can't remember exactly what it was called on the menu) the chilli burrito was ok but the mixed meat one was so bland and dull I didn't even want to finish it. We ordered the churros for desert and you only got 3 tiny pieces which we again waited what felt like a lifetime for; of which by the time it came they did apologise and state they would give the desert free of charge due to the wait which was nice of them. The staff were lovely though but will not be returning for food

It was my second visit to El Chupitos. Food looked and tasted good. Reasonably priced. Cocktails were very nice if a bit on an expensive side. Nice atmosphere, very pleasant and efficient service.

Ive eaten here a few times. Yes it appears a little dark when you walk in... but it all adds to the experience.As for the food.... having been to mexico and eaten authentic mexican food.... this is as close to that as you will get without going to mexico.It all tastes fresh and flavoursome... not over salty and dry like a well known chain restaurant ive eaten in the past.... the cocktails are really nice and id be happy just to frequent the bar and drink cocktails as eat the lovely food. Would definately recommend it to anyone who just likes the idea of fresh flavoursome food and refreshing cocktails

We visited El Chupito's for a family meal and had a very enjoyable evening . Service was prompt and efficient, quantity and quality of food was fine . The decor was quite rustic - nice change from a lot of restaurants . Will definitely be visiting again .

Went here first time For a meal here.. It's dark and dingy.. Not many staff on. The drinks are nice and reasonably priced. Cocktails are lovely. Lots of seating. The food was OK.. Too many onions. Fajitas are average. The house fries were not salty or spiced just bland. We ordered desserts and hardly non available. One waiter and he was run off his feet. Food wasn't brought out on time. We dined as a group of eight.. Tell of us waited 15 minutes after the other five had already got their mains. I shall not be going again unfortunately.

booked a table. please was over staffed waited over 40 mins just for nachos. when nachos arrived there was only a small amount of cheese sauce and red chillis. There was no salsa, no pepper dip and no jalapenos. Friend ordered food - no cheese and just dry beans for veggie option £3 for small tub of colesaw I DO NOT RECOMMEND!!

We called in today for lunch. Very friendly staff, quirky decor and lovely food. An extensive menu with a lunch time special and different offers during the week. We ordered fajitas, which did not disappoint us. What I will say is the diet coke/ Pepsi tastes more like rola cola. Not great. When we visit again, I think it will be cocktails as it's 2for1.

Just popped in for an evening meal, lovely warm welcome & excellent food. Although it was early evening place was starting to get busy. Nothing was too much trouble. Shall definitely repeat visit.

We have visited this restaurant quite a few times and have always enjoyed our meals. However, we visited again last night and didnt feel it was as nice. The tacos were hard and more like a tortilla chip and I personally didnt feel the taste was as nice. Also the revolutionary fries are normally a real favourite of mine, but they werent as nice either. The guy serving wasnt particularly that friendly and other staff previously have had a bit more about them.As I've left previous excellent reviews, I thought it was only fair that I left this review to say that on this occasion we were disappointed. We will go back, but personally wont rush back again, there are lots of other places to eat.

We arrived on Sat 26 th of Feb st 10 to 6 4 other people in restaurant were left stood waiting to be acknowledged quiet a while when the girl finally acknowledged us she then proceeded to answer the phone and left us stood there again finally a young man came over and asked if it was just the 2 of us he seemed quiet put out he showed us to a table and we asked for the cocktail menu he just started to walk away when the girl with the bandanna in her hair told him really loudly they can't sit there you'll have to move them as we were being moved my friend asked why we were being moved from a 4 table to another 4 table she was ignored at this point we were still waiting for the cocktail menu when it finally arrived it was dirty and really sticky as was the table we were moved to at this point we decided to leave we eventually went to ruby lounge and were met by attentive staff and it was nice and clean your staff could learn a lot from this and other restaurans in the area certainly won't be going back

I've been here with family quite a few times now and you can rely on good food for a reasonable price. A nice selection on the menu and the quality has been consistent. My criticism would be that the seating isn't very comfortable - the chairs with metal rims chilling your legs especially, though maybe this is only a wintertime problem. It hasn't stopped me going back again and again, roll on summer...

My Halloumi Burrito from the lunch deal (£4.95 or £5.95 with a beer) was stunning. We all left nothing on our plates. The food is too gorgeous for that. Add in super cocktails and a laid back vibe and you have the recipe for success.

My first meal on a visit to Hull was on El Chupitos, on the recommendation of my Daughter's colleague and it was justified.We arrived for lunch and only one other table was occupied. Having a nosey, the food looked interesting. I didn't expect anything special from a lunch menu, where a taco bowl, or burrito with a drink was only £4.95.My daughter was on her lunch break and needed to get to work for a meeting. The only real criticism is that the service was a little slow. The food made up for the slight wait. The taco bowl is a fried tortilla filled with a chioice of meat and garnishes and the burrito was just what you'd expect. We had range of fillings and all were delicious (we had a taste of each). The drink was a large glass, which is again unusual.We also had a side of queso filled jalapenos, which were just as good as the rest of the meal. Other reviews mentioned only being able to pay by cash. I saw the sign before I ordered and accepted it. Get your old fashioned cash out and pay for your food it's worth the minor inconvenience!!!

Visiting friends in Hull, my boyfriend and I decided to try here as our friends said they had a good experience on the restaurants opening night.The staff seemed rude and uninterested in being there. The food came out in less than 5 minutes which I feel is never a good sign unless opting for fast food. My enchilada seemed as if the chicken had been heated in the microwave and everything else had been thrown on the plate cold. My partner laughed saying it looked like someone had just took a cold tortilla wrap and emptied a tin of chopped tomatoes over the top. Literally no flavour in this food either. We could not wait to leave. Would not recommend. It feels like there is no passion in this place at all. Bland is the perfect word.

Came here with my husband for my birthday meal. Nice and quiet, dimly lit and the food was spot on. Really reasonable pricing and the cocktails were fab! Would recommend the chicken enchiladas.

I would agree with a lot of the comments below. No card machine in this day and age for a busy restaurant is just weird. Nachos and salsa lacked any real bite but my burrito was really tasty. Service was slow and heating was broken upstairs so was a bit chilly as it was trying to snow outside.

Last Saturday evening visited with two daughters and three of their friends. Food was excellent and lots of it. Very busy but we had managed to book a table. Did get slightly noisy with some young gents I think trying to talk over the music but being Saturday night it was sort of expected. So if you want a quieter experience another night might be more suitable. We found the atmosphere good. However they did apparently run out of large bowls that they serve nachos in as we were asked if we had finished with them. Surely an eatery should always have enough crockery, cutlery etc to cover all evenutalities!

food was great. portion sizes may be too big but great value. only down side to the meal/evening was the volume of the music. we were booked in for 7pm and when we arrived we had to shout to speak to each other and it only got louder! may need to take your own bowls as they seem to have a shortage of them - we were still eating our sides and were asked if we had nearly finished as they had ran out of bowls!!!! more of a drinking establishment then a place to enjoy an evening meal.

A very busy place on a Saturday night, took about 30/40 mins to get served at the bar due to a very short amount of staff it appeared. Quite pricey but as expected, a nice range of cocktails and right in the heart of the busy newland avenue.

Good food, far from great but substandard service. Too long a time to take order, take plates and give us the bill. Okay but I wouldn't recommend.

Surely it should either be called El Chupito or Los Chupitos? I'm just saying. I can't enjoy my food with something like that hanging over me.

We've been here several times and we've become accustomed to waiting for food... It's something I thought early on would be a problem they'd sort out but no... Don't get me wrong, the food is fresh and hot... But let's be honest, it should take that long to put together if the prep is there... It really does let it down... When questioned, the response was that they hadn't enough chefs working as the students aren't back yet... I'm sorry but that can't have been the reason last time or the other times.... I've been to the others in the "chain" doesn't seem to be a problem for them But all in all, just go! eat some tasty Mexican food, get a starter to nibble on and get your drinks order in early...

Service was terrible as soon as the food was served they where itching to clear the table, at one point I was asked if I'd finished while I was clearly still eating. I wouldn't say the food was fantastic either.

Nice surroundings if a little too moody/dark. Fajitas very nice with extra breads at no extra cost. Good finger food. Not badly priced either.

Two mains + two sides + two beers for around £26 was really good value.Staff were friendly & attentive.The tacos were tasty & well put together, well worth a visit.

I have visited El Chupitos quite a few times in the past and always really liked the food and atmosphere. On this particular occasion I was not so pleased. The staff seemed really bored of their jobs and were not particularly friendly. My food and drink were nice as always but my friend ordered a vegetarian halloumi and mushroom fajita but when it arrived there were no mushrooms in it! She pointed this out to them and they brought her some mushrooms in a separate pot but there was no apology from the staff nor did they offer her a free drink or something along those lines for the inconvenience. During our meal we were asked 3 times if we wanted more drinks and felt almost pestered. Then when it came to asking for the bill we struggled to get any of the staff's attention! I usually really like this restaurant so hope this was just a bad night for El Chupitos!
