Went on Saturday Night, sat at the table of 6 at the front fabulous meal and drinks, everyone really enjoyed their meals. I had the Tamal Verde which I had never tried before and thoroughly recommend. Drinks were fabulous we drank margaritas and had micheladas, some of the group were very happy to see those on the menu! Staff were lovely, great atmosphere. Will be back! Thank you to all the staff, you’re doing a cracking job 😁

First time eating there this evening and can't believe it's taken us this long to try it! Already planning a return visit. Excellent food, great service, and decorated like a taqueria in CDMX. Loved the Mexican drinks available too (Pacifico, Modelo, and Agua Frescas!!!) Gracias!

updated review: Now tried the restaurant in Eastbourne, what a beautiful place - superbly decorated, lovely and cozy - was thrilled to get the table by the fire. Had the meat mix tacos, steak burrito, papas adobo, lime agua fresca and a horchata. Excellent service, welcoming atmosphere and it was just like being back in Mexico. If I lived nearby I reckon I'd be here every night. Authentic Mexican food at the Bexhill branch, Duke and King torta tried and absolutely delicious - very generous portions as you would expect in Mexico. Great selection on the menu - I wish I had been hungrier so I could have eaten more! Family run business with really nice people, I'll be back again and again.

What a find! We came here for a work Christmas dinner - 9 of us all thoroughly enjoyed our food - so delicious. We will be recommending to friends and will certainly be visiting again soon.

We visited El Changarro last month and what an amazing experience. On arrival we received a genuine warm welcome by the staff. As a frequent traveler to Mexico, the decor and atmosphere was almost like being back in South America. The food was so flavourful, fresh and truly a sensation for your tastebuds. Cooked to order, we could taste the freshness of the ingredients. I am a big fan of Mexican cuisine and this restaurant is truly one of the best I have visited in The UK. I can 200% recommend El Changarro for a delightful experience and we will definitely be returning soon. This restaurant is definitely The South Coast’s best kept secret, thank you to all the staff for an unforgettable evening. Big thanks also from my chihuahua Magnus, thank you for making him so welcome and he can’t wait to come back also!!!!

We had a wonderful evening there on the Day of the Death. The staff was very attentive, kind and helpful, with a smile all the time. The atmosphere was uplifting, very welcoming. Fast service, mexican music, delicious authentic food. And we even got free cocktails because we came in themed costumes! One of the best restaurants in town. Definitely will be back there.

Best Mexican I've ever had in the UK. This is proper authentic Mexican and you can see the owner/chef has his heart in the food. All the dishes were fantastic! The decor and setting done with care. The staff and owner really friendly and take care of you. We had a couple of special requests they were happy to do as not busy and this is a place that leaves you feeling good as you leave. I could eat here everyday trying different things and not get bored!

Food was exceptional as always, mixed meat tacos were cooked perfectly and the elote was immaculate. Delivery time kept changing quite quickly but once it was near accurate it was perfectly on time, definitely happy with everything

Wanted to eat here for a while based upon the glowing reviews. We are a South American family and love cooking Mexican food at home and exploring great taco restaurants in London… well, sadly disappointed that the food was so inexplicably bland - the worst was the burnt steak taco which was as chewy as a piece of rubber 😳 Maybe you need to add the side salsas, but they were mild and flavourless - was there any habenero in the sweet mango & habenero?! The table hot sauce was good though! Mushroom taco my favourite, but everything else was substandard. I can only think that changes might have been made for local tastes - if you want authentic, save your money and go further afield.

Food good, service also good especially the main Mexican waitress. Atmosphere was ok if you like a buzzy noisy type of place. Bit too much for me personally.

Everything was absolutely delicious!

It was very busy when we visited and it took us a bit of time to decide what we were going to order. The team were friendly offering good customer service, we had to wait a while for water but understable as it was very busy. The food was really good and very tasty, the burrito was too big and we had to ask for a takeaway box as we couldn't finish our meal which the team organised quickly. The seats are a tad uncomfortable but I guess they're designed for a short stay only to ensure turnover of the tables. A good venue when meeting up with friends for a quick bite to eat and drink.

Probably some of the best Mexican food I've had in the UK aside from Cafe Pacifico. Service is warm and on point. Lovely range on the menu as well.

The food is so tasty :) I'm planning to try most of the menu. Catalina and her husband cook from the heart. The waiter is attentive and helpful. The place is beautifully decorated with low mexican music so you can chat gently and enjoy the food. Must visit and enjoy :)

Just loved it. Particularly recommended is the mexican prawn cocktail, oh my goodness, so delicious! I also had the fire roasted quesadillas which were so tasty and crispy. Highly recommended.

Absolutely divine hidden gem! A hole-in-the-wall exterior that opens into a colorful exposed-brick vibrant interior. Authentic food (best Mexican food I’ve had since moving here from Chicago which has some of the best Mexican food outside of Mexico), warm and friendly staff, and immaculate vibes all around. Cannot recommend enough and can’t wait to go back. This is 1000% an excellent idea if you are considering.

An absolutely authentic and much needed Mexican eatery in our very own Eastbourne! Everything we've had on the menu including their cocktails has been SO DELICIOUS and the staff go above and beyond to make any adjustments / accommodations for you. I've visited twice in as many months and will forever be obsessed with this place.

El Changarro is a gem of a Mexican restaurant that I cannot recommend highly enough. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. The steak tacos are simply outstanding, with tender, juicy meat wrapped in warm, fresh tortillas. The accompanying salsa and lime added a perfect balance of flavors that left me craving more. But the star of the show was their guacamole. Rich, creamy, and bursting with fresh cilantro and lime, it was the best I've ever had. I could have made a meal out of just the guacamole and chips! The service at El Changarro was top-notch, with Sam going above and beyond to ensure that we had everything we needed. His attentiveness and friendly demeanor made our dining experience all the more enjoyable. What's more, El Changarro is dog-friendly, offering a "doggy taco" that our furry friend thoroughly enjoyed. This thoughtful touch is just one more reason to love this restaurant. Wow wow wow, an amazing little gem found in Eastbourne old town !! My partner and I were in Eastbourne old town to attend a function, and decided to find somewhere to get a bite to eat beforehand. We came across El Changarro by accident and by the end of our experience, boy were we happy !! The family run business ticked all the boxes, clean, friendly, inviting and the food was out of this world. We had arrived just as they had opened so it wasn't busy (this is why I gave four stars for Atmosphere) but I'm sure it is amazing when busy, and we were made to feel welcome from the offset. The combination of food and decor really made us feel engrossed in the occasion. The flavours were out of this world and I'm sure what ever you order from the menu, will show just how much work is put in to guarantee you enjoy your time here. Thank you for the great food and conversation, we look forward to seeing you again next time we are in Eastbourne.

Wow! A hidden gem in Old Town, Eastbourne. El Changarro is bursting with colourful, vibrant Mexican decor and tongue tingling tastes to suit everyone. We were welcomed warmly and seated near the cosy log burner. The menu offered a tempting selection of authentic, fresh Mexican dishes. We were given excellent, honest advice about the different salsa strengths to compliment the Taco choices we ordered. Service was perfect; relaxed but attentive. We thoroughly enjoyed all the food which was thoughtfully presented to appeal to all our senses. The bill was delivered in a beautiful woven basket with a special edible surprise that was a delicious way to finish the evening's experience. The meal was very good value. Our thanks to the owners who genuinely care about sharing quality food and their passion for all things Mexican. We will definitely be returning for more laid back fiesta vibes and a celebration of well-honed flavours.

Absolutely love this place. What a wonderful experience eating in. (and so much better than take away, which we love and have had almost weekly since discovering El Changarro 3 months ago) Our table was right next to the fire, and along with the Latin music created a lovely atmosphere. The mushroom burritos, what I can only say, Wow! They are amazing. I have been to Mexico on many occasions and this is one of the best vegetarian option I have ever tried. The sweet Tamal was pretty amazing too. Service was really personable, young wait staff, professional and friendly. The owners/chefs came and check in on us during our meal too. So happy to have this restaurant in Eastbourne and really looking forward to going back.

I absolutely love this Mexican restaurant! The food is consistently amazing in quality, and my husband can't resist trying everything on the menu – he loves every dish! The personal greeting from the owner adds a special touch to the great service. The homemade aqua frescas are a refreshing delight, and my ultimate favorite has to be the flavorful beef burrito with salsa roja. Highly recommended for a delicious and enjoyable dining experience!
