We had food from here delivered by Deliveroo. When it arrived it was cold and it had been packaged badly so food had spilled everywhere. It wasn't that tasty, the nachos were a mess and the tacos were awful. But the worst thing was when I called them. The woman I spoke to was so rude and didn't want to acknowledge my complaint at all. She blamed Deliveroo for being late and that's why it was cold but they weren't. When I commented on the food she simply said 'we've never had a complaint before' and 'we're not Wahaca'!! How on earth is that helpful?! She ended up hanging up on me!

Eaten in a number of burrito joints and stalls nearby, but this is by far the best in taste and price point. Shop is small and café-like with friendly staff.

I've always been a fan of Mexican food and this place is the only authentic fast food burrito shop in London. Their ingredients are 100% mexican and they also serve tacos and other mexican dishes. Prices are very reasonable too.

One of my favourite burritos in London. Massive, great value, great variation, and feels authentic unlike a lot of chain burrito places. Has a little stash of Mexican foods to buy out the back too.

Feels odd giving five stars to a tiny cafe with plastic seats out the back. But then, there's a reason the plastic seats and lack of plates don't matter, and it's the same as the reason you'll see a huge queue form out the door at lunchtime. El Burrito mostly does takeaway, and that queue moves very quickly once they get going, so don't be put off. My colleague and I discovered this place while working in the area, it became a struggle not to be going there every day. Staff are efficient and friendly, and they operate a very good system to get people served quickly. The burritos are absolutely delicious, especially if you grab a handful of nachos and a can of weird fizzy agave and plonk yourself in the back. You can then dare each other with fire-hot chilli sauces. The food actually comes down from their parent restaurant, Mestizo, just up the road. Also a truly excellent dining experience.

As previous reviews have stated, El Burrito isn't the biggest of places, so getting a table to eat in isn't easy a lot of the time. However, if you go early enough especially before the lunch-break crowd, you should be able to get a table. It's fairly good value - £6 for a burrito with chips & guacamole on the side - and you can get it to go which is what most people seem to do.The staff are generally pretty friendly but it depends on their mood and how busy they are. Making the burritos is a bit like a production/assembly line, but the burritos taste better than a lot of similar Mexican places in the area.Drinkswise, the horchata isn't great but they do have tequila!BTW it's part of the same group/company that owns Mestizo which is an excellent Mexican restaurant especially if you're dining in. If you "Like" the respective Facebook pages, you'll be kept up-to-date with the latest offers and promotions, such as a free drink on arrival at Mestizo.

I am not Mexican nor have I been to Mexico. As a Londoner in search of the famous tamales I found El Burrito searching the internet. The web site is not fantastically informative for images of the venue, but the old menu is online (http://www.mestizomx.com/ElBurrito.html) and the prices are cheap. The new menu in the venue is tiny A5 and you need glasses to read it!Venue: small café style with sticky tables (I think due to being painted surfaces, but not sure) and a large range of sauces, nothing particularly hot.Staff: Okay, young and I think perhaps not professionally trained. The welcome was a bit vague as we did not know where to go or the system… the small seating area is at the back or you can sit out side under a canopy and smoke - great for smokers! Which I am, but we chose to sit inside.Toilets: 2 downstairs but only one working. Our order was: Tamales: Chicken Mole, cheese and Poblano pepper, and Pork and salsa verde. Pork Burrito (the pork was very tender), Flautas Ahogadas, and a taco dish.Cutlery: Wooden knifes and forks, which I hated (as it reminded me of lollipop sticks on my tongue as a child). But we have silverware with the starters.Paid £30 for 4 dishes (one being 3 – all variations on the famous tamale) including a Fabulous margarita and a beer (at happy hour discount).I cannot comment on how authentic the food is, however, as spice lovers, we found the food too bland and will not visit again. A great venue for students or visitors needing food on a budget at lunchtime or early evening, tucked away from the main tourist traps, near Goodge Street and the British Museum.

I went with two homesick Mexicans and they loved the food here. It really is like the food you get in Mexico, tacos, molletes, burritos, agua de horchata. The service and the prices are good too - tacos from £1.50

Can't comment on the meat dishes, but the veggie Raja con crema was sweetcorn & grated cheese in mayo; and ditto the tuna burrito (which came straight out of a can).

The food was lovely. After my plate was taken away I sat and waited to order a dessert. Despite catching the attention of the waiting staff after over 30 minutes of waiting I gave it up as a bad job and went to the bar to ask for the bill. I asked for the service charge to be removed due to the wait but was not asked why. Disappointing, as the initial service was good, and the restaurant seemed to quieten down as the evening went on so it was strange
