El Bosc in Cheshire East

If you like authentic tapas this is not for you. The mixed fusion decor is confusing and reminiscent of several failed attempts - chairs from a chinese, stools from a traditional old mans boozer and stacked furniture from an old bistro. With trepidation tried a couple of dishes salt and peper calamari and pan con tomate which consisted of very salty rubbery calamari and two chunks of chargrilled soft sliced bread with garlic and watery tomatoes, there was more attention paid to getting our car registration to park in the potholed and muddy car park than to the flavour and quality of food. Very disappointing!

Just what Styal needed. Lovely relaxed atmosphere, fantastic food and Fiona couldn't do enough for us. Will definitely be visiting again on a regular basis.

Friendly welcoming staff, nice atmosphere. Lovely food when it came, but so very slow and even understanding Tapas, as a way of enjoying lots of small dishes, there was no flow at all. There were a lot of staff, so I assume the chef/chefs were overwhelmed by orders and we just got a mediocre experience. The menu was very limited and disappointingly the Sunday Menu, which online had looked so inviting, was not available. Hopefully if we visit again it will be a full and yummy experience.

Miserable day outside and in’. Like having a very expensive lunch in a builders cabin! No welcoming atmosphere and the feeling that we entered after closing time!

Came here to celebrate my birthday but sadly we were left unimpressed. Although most of the food was quite ok, we waited too long. We ordered 6 dishes, 3 came with a little wait but the other 3 didn’t appear until after waiting about 40 minutes we had to ask and it then came out bit by bit. The chicken skewers were quite bland and tasteless. Numerous times the waitress came to our table with food that wasn’t ours. The table next to us were waiting on 4 dishes and cancelled them in the end and asked for the bill and another table didn’t get their cheese board, so cancelled that. The only thing to arrive quickly was the bill !! It seemed a very disorganised restaurant and sadly will not return

Fabulous laid back restaurant, small menu with a lovely mix of dishes, something for everyone. All the food was delicious, fresh & tasty. Great wine selection, friendly staff. Perfect place for an informal get together. We will be back.

What an amazing evening we had at El Bosc. Free parking available at the rear (you may have to add reg at the restaurant). The welcome from the staff was lovely, the restaurant ambiance was just right, the tables were decorated in a lovely way, and the food was just out of this world! They were flexible whilst ordering I.e. mix and match the amounts for 3/4 people and it wasn’t all brought at once so you didn’t feel rushed. Would highly recommend for that special evening. Even the ladies toilet was really pretty. 5 stars all round from me - thank you to Fiona and her team.

Great little find in Styal village. Me & my good friend went in after a long walk in the woods. She needed something to eat I wanted a pint of Guinness so did she. Anyway, I’d heard the Guinness is super and it was better than next door. So we decided to eat the £15 lunch meal deal which includes a choice of 3 x tapas each. Was perfect food served nice and hot friendly service and nice environment. Couple of Guinness and 2 x glasses of Rioja later. Perfect lunch and very attentive staff.

A truly excellent tapas restaurant in the picturesque village of Styal. Convenient for Styal Mill and walks along the Bollin river. El Bosc has a warm and friendly atmosphere and serves excellent tapas - but save room for a dessert! Also dog friendly. Book in advance at busy times.

Great food, fantastic service was really impressed with our first visit. Owner and staff were really attentive, gave good recommendations and checked in to ask how we were getting on. Brilliant atmosphere, great to have live music we will definitely be back.

Confirm same with many - mixed views. Ordered 3 dishes, 2 were excellent. Took far too long time for 1st dish arrive - but was good. 3nd dish arrived before the 2nd dish and just loaded with tomatoes, but no olives- advised the Chef forgot them. 2nd dish arrived - really tasty. 2 out of 3 tasted really nice. Waiting staff - students. The chef didn't appear to be well organised. Lovely atmosphere, house wines very good, but not sure I'll be returning!

We went for our 41st wedding anniversary and the food was excellent, albeit the portions are bigger than we could manage. The young servers were faultless and we were even given a dessert to share to celebrate the occasion. The main thing for others to watch for is that you must provide your car registration to a server if you use the car park or face a £100 charge! There are some small advisory signs outside but with dark evenings looming guests may miss these.

We went for dinner on Saturday night. Great atmosphere and the food was excellent - the lamp chops, chicken and prawns in particular. The service was faultless and we were surprised when paying the bill that the waiter apologised for front of house and kitchen being under-staffed - we thought they were swift and attentive. Will be going back regularly.

Food and service was lovely but unfortunately evening was rather spoiled by a very noisy group of 4 at the bar. Hoping they would leave but hopes dashed when we realised the owner was one of the group!! No regard whatsoever for customers so went elsewhere for pudding and coffee. Won’t be going back ! Noted that someone else had put a similar review that it seemed like a place for owner and friends to have a few too many and had disregarded it but obviously a worrying trend.

The menu has vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options. The staff are on hand to discuss both the menu and wine list in detail. We particularly enjoyed the smokey Pan Catalan. We are looking forward to returning.
