Attended on Saturday 22nd March with my parents for a meal, had a lovely waitress named Anna who was so pleasant, the restaurant was very busy and you could see her running around attending and helping others. The food was fantastic and we would 100% attended again.

If you're looking for a lovely place to eat in Lichfield, look no further than Ego. A contemporary Mediterranean restaurant with a wide lakeside view, modern furniture, and great food to boot. Despite having arrived early to our booking, we were quickly welcomed and brought to our table overlooking the lake. For the most part, our experience was great, having been served by very attentive staff and rapid food service. For our night, we started with pan-seared scallops on a bed of mashed peas. These were wonderfully tender. Following this was a fantastic beef bouginogne, which I couldn't recommend enough. The portion was large, with plenty of meat that just melted in the mouth. It was absolutely brought together by the flavourful gravy, with the vegatable crisps adding a crunch to balance the tenderness of the meat. My partner instead had Morrocan lamb, which was well worth a try, being just as tender as the beef and incredibly rich in flavour. For dessert, I would also recommend the tiramasu, which was perfect in both texture and flavour, particularly the marscapone. Though if you prefer ice cream, the sundae portions were certainly generous. Overall, the food was great, and the service was attentive. The only perceivable downside was a loudly upset child that repeatedly disrupted the atmosphere of an otherwise lovely night.

Great venue, very relaxed. Sat at a table over looking the pool and cathedral. Attentively served by Vika who was lovely.

Our booking was at 7:30pm and we had looked at the menu prior to our visit so we knew what we wanted to order. Our order was taken soon anfter we anrrived and then 50 minutes later 5/6 of our starters arrived. The 6th came a short while after. I asked one of the managers ‘Kat’ for a second set of cutlery as 4/6 of the guests had two sets as they should and 2 of our guests had only one each. Her reply was ‘if you use them you’ll be given more’ as if we were not going to use our cutlery to eat our starters. It was then 9pm before our mains turned up. One of which had to be returned as the sauce tasted as if the pan was burnt whilst the sauce was cooking. It was then replaced and so 1/6 of our guests sat with no food whilst the rest of us ate until that was replaced which was then not amazing. The paella had 4 pieces of chicken in and was sloppy and all of the chips that were served were cold. The potatoes that came with the sea bass were all brown. The only decent meal at our table was a Halloumi skewers which, as you can imagine, its hard to mess up a plate of veg. Molly who served us, however, was very apologetic and accommodating, thank you Molly.

My sister and I visited Ego in Lichfield for my birthday. It was our first time at here . We WILL DEFINITELY be going again! The food was out of this world! Fantastic! And the waitress service we received from Izzy was second to none. She was professional, friendly and attentive. Thank you for making our visit even more enjoyable! 👌💖 Recommendation to anyone who orders the Lamb Kleftiko: Ask for a spoon to lap up the gravy. It's just so delicious. I could've happily drank a bucket of it. It was that good! 😉😋😋😋

It was quite hot in the restaurant.

We attended here to celebrate two of my family members birthdays, we were greeted and seated quickly which was nice, drinks were asked for quickly and that's where it kind of went down hill really. The food service was extremely slow in-between starters and mains, so much so the waitress had to apologise after we were asked for more drinks and still hadn't been served our food. The appetizers were lovely! I had a harrissa chicken and my partner had the hummus with pitta bread, both delicious and perfect size for a starter. There was then, over 1 hours time until the mains came out. We are a table of 6 and ordered the food all together so not exactly a huge party unexpected on a Friday night. When the food did come out, 4 of us had ordered the Duo pork and they were all presented differently, some were cut, some were whole, and one came out the size of a kids portion. We then had to ask for a gent to come over and see the differences, and in fairness he was great, he completely agreed, it wasn't spotted by 2 chefs and within 2 minutes had a fresh plate out for us. My veggie partner did say there was plenty of vegetarian options and the goat cheese pizza was really nice, but soggy on the base and would advise it needs cooking more. Unfortunately as beautiful as the pork was, it was like it was sat under a lamp for 15 minutes because 2 were warm, the potatoes were the hottest part of the dish. Drinks wise, my friend had a passion fruit martini, the first one I'd ever seen without an actual passion fruit in it and said it was weak. My long island ice tea was also weak. Overall, was a lax meal, we felt it was quite overpriced for what we received and the timings in the kitchen and the service of food was not up to par.

An exceptional location, attentive staff and a very tasty eclectic menu with a Mediterranean twist Our early evening service was engaging and faultless. We were waited on with wit and valuable information about the menu and my special birthday offer which is always well received! This restaurant has been here for 16 years and has at least one dedicated servant who delt with our gastronomic needs perfectly. Prawns in Garlic have a perfect chilli taste and my chargrilled mixed kebab is tasty with its varying flavours. While my wife is very fond of the Lemon Chicken Milanese. Now under the corporate umbrella of M&B one hopes the style and manner of Ego and its traditions are maintained notwithstanding portion control!

Lovely meal but it’s the second time that my initial choices weren’t available.

Our first visit here and I'm afraid it is one of those places we won't be rushing back to. Restaurant clean, tidy, nice ambience, Now onto the food; we had the fixed price menu and we both chose lamb kofta for a starter - this came out nicely presented but beware as it turned out to be the spiciest kofta we have ever tasted, onto the mains we chose to pay extra for the sirloin steak - both my wife and I certainly didn't think this was worth the £6 supplement - had better quality and size steaks at Weatherspoons, this was a mile off one of our recent fav steak restaurants (miller and carter) I suggest they get a different supplier of meat. Oh and be prepared to pay well over £6 for a draught pint of standard lager.

Visited for Sunday lunch for my birthday with my husband, daughter and parents. Restaurant was far too cold. Many other diners sitting with their coats on. Our waitress was pleasant but straight away advised of many meals that were not available. (Of course not her fault at all) Service was slow and felt there was no manager present at the time of dining. Children meals were disappointing but the adults meals were nice enough. Felt this was a bad day for the restaurant but based on our visit we won’t be returning which is shame as it’s a lovely looking restaurant in a great location in Lichfield

We dined at Ego as a group of 12. Our server Anna was amazing! She was friendly, accommodating, efficient and always on hand with anything we needed. The atmosphere was great and the food was nice but as a group we were disappointed that we had to order from a preset menu when we could see other people all got to order from the range of menus. There wasn’t really anything I loved from the preset menu so thought it was a lot of money to not be able to order what I wanted. Would not go again as a group if the preset menu was the only option.

Very disappointed with our meal here. It was for a friends birthday and it seemed that they were unable to accommodate larger group bookings. The service was poor, we waited over an hour for food to arrive and the food was not to the standard as others had expensive previously. No one was completely satisfied with their meal and although it was my first time there, I would not be returning.

We went to ego as a if party of 23 for my cousins birthday and the food and service was brilliant but maddie went above and beyond making sure we all had what we needed and was smiley and happy the whole time

Such a lovely venue & couldn’t fault the service but the prawn chilli linguine was so tasteless. Won’t be visiting again. So many other lovely restaurants in Lichfield serving better quality food.

It had been several years since my last visit to EGO due to previous disappointments with the food and service. However, a friend wanted to give it another try, so we did. While the food was enjoyable, the service was once again underwhelming—something that seems to be a recurring issue here. At first, the staff were attentive, but they soon became more focused on setting tables than actually tending to ours, which was frustrating. I even had to call out to get someone’s attention for the bill. To top it off, I was shocked to be charged an extra £2 just to swap chips for broccoli—how can that be justified? Unfortunately, this experience has reaffirmed my decision to stay away. I won’t be returning anytime soon—if ever. Sorry, EGO, but there are far better places to dine in Lichfield and the surrounding villages.

Lovely afternoon tea. Food was great and very filling considering it was only an afternoon tea. Got a window seat so enjoyed looking over the ducks. Did have to get servers attention a lot to request tea/coffee refills or for the bill. Felt a little forgotten which unfortunately is why I knocked off a star.

Really bad experience served mushroom on my steak after informing of allergy. Two other steaks sent back not cooked virtually raw not as pre order request. Spoilt my daughters 21st celebrations. Prosecco not ready either on arrival and waitress unaware of pre order and deposit paid. Awful!

Excellent food, service, atmosphere and welcome, thoroughly enjoyed by my wife and myself on our 1st visit. One mistake was made that COULD have been dangerous though. I was halfway through a course of antibiotics and wasn't allowed to drink alcohol, I ordered a 0% fruit cider which was very nice. The waitress later asked if I'd like another drink and suggested "same again" as she removed the bottle and glass, I responded by saying yes please and a couple of minutes later she returned with my drink which I consumed with the rest of my food. It was only when I checked the bill I noticed a price discrepancy in the two drinks which, technically should have been the same. I checked the 2nd empty bottle and noticed it was a usual 4% alcoholic drink . Which obviously, I wasn't supposed to have. Fortunately, I suffered no adverse reaction although I slept well that night. However, everyone is different and with someone else the reaction of drink and medication could have been far worse.

Myself and my family often go to Ego as we are very fond of the restaurant. The staff are always pleasant including Tom, always happy to assist when asked. The food is always enjoyable, today we have a birthday party that we have tried the lamb shank which I thought was very good. It is our go to restaurant.

So we were going to visit Ego Lichfield as we love the our local Ego in Suffolk. But Ego Lichfield is a no dog zone.

Not normal run of the mill restaurant. Varied selection of mediteranean dishes & steaks. Excellent food, although steaks overpriced for the quality.

Wow, what a transformation! Ego in Mere Green has undergone a stunning renovation since our last visit, and the new decor is absolutely stunning. We recently dined there, taking advantage of the 50% off food offer, and were thoroughly impressed. The service was impeccable – our server was attentive, friendly, and ensured we had everything we needed. The food itself was outstanding. Every dish (I had the Lamb Kleftiko for my main) was beautifully presented and bursting with flavour. While the 50% off deal certainly sweetened the pot, the quality of the food and the overall dining experience was exceptional. We're not sure if we'd be willing to pay full price on a regular basis, but we'll definitely be back to explore the menu further and enjoy the stylish ambiance.

Went last night and was disappointed that after sitting down and ordering a bottle of wine we were told that they had run out of many items on the menu. Both meals we wanted had sold out and so we had to choose other things, if we had known this as we arrived we may not have stayed. The waitress was very friendly and apologetic but was clearly embarrassed when reading out the fairly long list. Apparently they had been very busy but surely a restaurant of this size should be able to deal with that without running out of food. The food we had was fine but disappointing not what we wanted.

Make sure you book in advance, four of us went on a Monday night and it was packed, several items were missing off the menu due to being sold out, looking how busy they were we all understood, staff were great, service was good even though they were fully booked. I had the mixed kebab and it was perfect.

Me and my dad came here on Monday night. All of the staff members were lovely and highly professional. The food was tasty and the portion size was brilliant.

Shame,birthday meal n lamb shank was terrible ended up giving it back, girlfriends mixed kebab looked nothing like the pictures and gave her a dodgy stomach. Posh prices for very poor food, never again.

King prawn linguine didn't have much taste, unfortunately. Prawns were princes rather than kings.

We spent an evening dining here on Christmas Eve and it was a whole mix bag of opinions on the dinner. First of all, we came into the restaurant and was greeted to what I presumed to be a manager due to wearing different clothing to the rest of the team. I imagine it was a stressful night for said person as it was very busy, but we were greeted quite short to begin with and then like we were an inconvenience once we stated who we were under the booking. We had a booking of 6 people and a baby, the person that booked had stated we had a baby with us and I had called up a few weeks prior to let them know that she would be in a pushchair. We then got backlash for having a pushchair with us and that they were apparently not told, I didn’t mention at the time that I had in fact called because I felt I would just receive more backlash so I just went along with it. We were shown to our seats and told “well you’ll have to sit here in the corner as there isn’t any room for the pushchair as we didn’t know.” Again left it at that as I didn’t want the hassle to continue. Once seated, we clearly could tell that said manager must have moaned about us to the staff, every member of staff that came over to serve us were acting very funny with us to begin with, I would even like to say in a sarcastic manner. The service for us to begin with was very slow as it was as if people did not want to come over to our table and continued to serve around us. Obviously we weren’t letting this affect our evening so we continued as our usual selves and were polite and tried to have a laugh and a joke with the team as that’s the type of people we are. This was falling short at the start as we still continued to get funny looks and were spoken to at times in a way where you could see people were annoyed with us again as if we had inconvenienced them. Getting onto the food, it was absolutely superb. Honestly, really good food. A credit to the chefs that worked that evening! Lastly, I’m not sure what is put on the floor but it was honestly like an ice rink round the whole front of the restaurant, literally from the toilets all the way to the front door, it was honestly like a whole vat of oil had been spilt on the floor, the whole restaurant was commenting on it, but we honestly were pretending to skate around the floor when going to and from places as it was so slippy and was honestly more safe to fake skate across than actually walk (noticed no wet floor signs either😬) All in all, the food was amazing but service was subpar just from the experience we received as we felt like we weren’t wanted there from start to near the end. It was redeemed towards the end as it was as if they started to warm up to us. I’d say I’d like to go back for a redemption but not sure I want to sit in an uncomfortable environment again

Had a beautiful meal today. Waitress Enya was a 5star serve especially when my mum who has dementia didn’t like her starter which was changed fur her with no charge at all. Great food, service and atmosphere

Really disappointed with our annual NY day visit to Ego Lichfield and will look to book elsewhere next time. Atmosphere & service from waiting staff was great, food (starters & mains) were tasteless, cold and badly executed - nothing like our previous experiences here.

A lovely festive lunch with a friend overlooking the cathedral’s side, by natural light and lovely views, just as we requested. The attention to detail was delightful; fast and friendly service in addition. The food was fresh, delicious and generous in terms of portions. Great value too. Would highly recommend and will definitely return.

Food was outstanding 1st time visiting for christmas meal

I recently attended here with family as a party of 6. For a weekday evening, it was pretty full which is always a good sign. It's very bright and fresh looking inside, which sets a nice scene. The table waiter was very friendly. We ordered hanging kebabs, the duo of pork and pizza for mains. This was followed by sorbet, lemon tart and apple pie and custard for dessert. The food tasted great. I would highly recommend if your looking for somewhere with a nice setting and decent food.

Food was alright going in. It was terrible coming out, that’s partly because it was mixed with my own blood as I threw up all night long. How do I know it was the food from Ego Litchfield? Well my friends and I came for a meal together. I had the duo pork & the garlic mushrooms , my friends had the steak, we all ended up sick as dogs today. Truly was excited to come here but so disappointed in what is probably a cleanliness or food quality issue. I don’t commonly get food poisoning but from a place so well regarded was a shock.

We had a really enjoyable lunch at Ego Lichfield. The service provided by Harriet was excellent. The restaurant was very busy with a nice atmosphere albeit rather noisy due to the low ceilings
