Our waitress Anna was lovely. Very helpful with a lovely smile. Nothing too much trouble.

Very very slow service .Food average, starting to go downhill,Not as good as it was on last visit.

We had a lovely experience eating here yesterday celebrating a birthday. Our waitress was called Enya, I couldn’t fault her enough she was informative, polite and humorous. Nothing was too much trouble! The food was served quickly and also they were good portion sizes! The d cocktails were also lovely.

Although we had to wait a while for our food to arrive… Anna our waitress was absolutely brilliant! She kept us informed throughout and was very pleasant, accommodating and helpful!

The place was packed very noisy the food had to go back as one was burnt the other uncooked and soggy. We had waited over an hour for this garbage! It was shocking -we won’t be back and will not recommend

We had a fantastic meal at ego, we were served by the lovely Enya! She was attentive, welcoming and funny! The food was great, I had the chicken supreme and it was supreme. Couldn’t recommend more, thanks enya for making our experience fabulous x

The food was gorgeous. The wait for our food was not very long at all, especially as we had steak, which seems to delay food in other establishments. The staff are hard working and aim to make your visit as enjoyable as possible. The noise of the place can be a little overpowering but expected in an open-plan environment. Will definitely be going back. Cocktails was lovely too. Well done to all the staff at Ego, Lichfield. Your hard work and effort clearly shone through on our visit. Thank you

This was a nice large restaurant, good choice of food, I had spaghetti carbonara but it wasn't as creamy as I like but it was piping hot & good value for money

Lovely meal as always at Ego. Always lovely to get a window seat overlooking the water. Lovely busy atmosphere (but not overly busy). Anna, our waitress was very friendly and attentive and did a great job. Food was nice and with the fixed price menu option and 2 for 1 cocktail offer it was good value for money as well.

Not as good as it used to be. Service very slow, portions sizes have gone small. The tiramisu however gets my points.

Overall, it was a nice meal with the family. But it was just nice. It was a tad expensive for what you get, but overall, it was nice and nothing to complain about.

We have visited Ego in Lichfield several times and always thoroughly enjoy the food and the atmosphere. The staff have the perfect balance of being friendly without being intrusive. The last couple of visits we have been served by Anna who is informative, friendly and efficient. Yesterday we were ten minutes past our reservation time and the majority of the staff couldn't have been more helpful or empathetic re our satnav malfunction. Looking forward to more visits as we travel up and down the country.

Very nice place with a good atmosphere. We initially got a table in the middle, but when we asked to move to one overlooking the river, there was no problem at all, which was great. However, the service was very poor. We waited 20 minutes before anyone approached us. I was with friends and ordered the starter CHORIZO & HALLOUMI Skewers, and for the main, the MIXED Kebab. My wife ordered GARLIC MUSHROOMS as a starter and KING PRAWN & CHILLI Linguine for her main. After finishing our meal, we again waited 20 minutes before anyone cleared the plates or asked if we wanted anything else to drink, and there weren’t even many people around. It was a clear sign of poor organization. When we got home, my wife started complaining about Abdominal pain and unfortunately, spent most of the night in the toilet . I tried several times to call the restaurant to find out if anyone else had experienced similar issues, but unfortunately, no one answered.🙁😢 The place itself is modern, but the service was poor. My food was okay, but my wife’s experience was definitely not.

We had a lovely time on Friday night. Every course was delicious. We all had a steak for main which was so nice. I had peppercorn sauce with mine. Delicious. The waitress was excellent. We hadn't been in a while and had forgotten how good it is there. We'll definitely be returning.

Booked a table for a special occasion...booked for 8 people . Pre ordered the food and we still had to wait over an hour for our main courses. Food was ok .

Very attractive interior overlooking Minster Pool. Spacious with seating for one or two, four and for larger parties. Comprehensive menu and special deals depending on time of day. Staff friendly and attentive. Food I had was good but maybe a bit pricey for what you get. The Pork Duo was very enjoyable. Decent wine list with glass size or bottles at reasonable prices. My only complaint would still be the un-necessary awful background music. It always seems so very noisy inside. You don't need loud music when trying to hold a conversation, and certainly not when you have hearing difficulties! When eating I want something calming, relaxing and quietly in the background so you don't have to shout to be heard. My second visit and I would certainly go again and but take ear plugs if necessary!

Egos Lichfield is one of our favourite restaurants, so that is why l chose for my birthday. My brother and wife came too, I’d been telling him how nice this restaurant was. He was very impressed with the restaurant itself and the beautiful views but the food was something else. We’ve never had a problem with the food before but this time l was embarrassed when l saw my brother’s meal. He had ordered steak and chips from the al la carte. That’s all that came no salad or greenery, he said the steak was very tough and it looked it, the chips were dry. My sister in law had the fish cake and potatoes. She’d requested no tartar for health reasons but we did expect something like a little salad, as fish cakes can be very dry. My paella was so dense, l found it difficult to eat, so left the majority of it. My husband had the hanging chicken, that looked nice and he enjoyed it. I apologised to my brother saying that we had never had a problem and the food was always great. On paying the bill we learnt from the waitress that it was now owned by M&B, then l realised why the food was as it was. Pub food at restaurant prices. Very disappointing as this is the first place my husband and l think of when celebrating anything but it will be a while before we come back. We noticed too that there wasn’t so many people dining there, maybe that's the reason.

Nine of us came for the Celebration Meal. Staff were friendly, attentive and nothing was too much trouble. The only downside was we had to wait a bit too long between courses as they were very busy.

Restaurant was extremely busy. We waited 45 minutes for a garlic bread starter. My husband's main course of rump steak was an extremely thin slice of overcooked beef - definitely not medium cooked steak and not worth £21.95 and would not recommend.

Friday lunch in Lichfield, lovely food, atmosphere and friendly staff, highly recommend a visit.

Very badly run restaurant in my opinion with extremely unhelpful staff. We used to frequent here on a regular basis but will not be returning in the future. They do not understand the concept of looking after regular customers.

Terrific lunch with wonderful food.

The food & staff were faultless. Our only slight criticism is the that when sitting in the centre of the restaurant the noise level made conversation more difficult.

It's a lovely venue, well decorated, very clean and definitely has a higher market feel to it. A good variety of food choices that caters to most. It is higher priced but the quality of food and portion sizes are worth it. The whole table thoroughly enjoyed both starters and mains, and all plates were empty. Some of the tables are very close together and that did mean that we heard every conversation going on at the next table, and at quite a volume, which meant we then struggled to hear each other on our own table. The only let down was our server, who was a shift supervisor, not sure if she was just having a bad day but she was clearly not happy to be at work (not that any of us ever are but when you work in hospitality you can't really afford to have that attitude at the forefront), she spoke the absolute bear minimum but her tone and attitude came across like she just didn't want to be there and actually that impacts the experience for the customers. We saw other staff around the restaurant who appeared, from a distance, to have a happier demeanor, including the person who served us our drinks.

Decent enough place but rarely do they get the service element spot on . Also I’d recommend you book in advance even if you’re going at a quiet time - we pitched up two weeks ago and they said they weren’t taking walk ins that day !! Bizarrely this was at 3.30 pm with only a handful of tables in use !!

What a lovely elybrestaurant. It was our first time there, parking was easy to find, mind you it was on a Sunday :) We loved the ambiance, the restaurant was very clean and very well arranged, with inviting music welcoming guests in to relax. The food was exceptional, very good choices, very tasty and arrived hot and within a good time. The 2 for 1 cocktail offer was a hit. The dessert menu was so decadent, I wished I could order one of everything :). I wonder if EGO would consider adding a mini selection option to their dessert menu. Overall, wonderful service and experience and we will certainly go back again.

Slick and delicious is the two words to apply here. The restaurant is run incredibly efficiently, the staff are on the ball and food is out and on your table without you feeling rushed. The food is utterly delicious - the eton mess was orgasmic!! The young lady serving us was friendly, professional, engaging and delightful. We will be going back WITHOUT A DOUBT.

One of our favourite restaurants in our home town. Food was delicious & service was quick. The Moroccan lamb was lovely & my partner thoroughly enjoyed his pan roasted cod supreme.

The food was lovely and the view over Minster Pool equally lovely, service was fast and attentive and good variety on the menu. The only two downsides were that the music was too loud so I felt it clashed with the atmosphere and the garlic bread was a sort of thin crispy pizza base, that was dry and crisp - I’d rather a baguette type style that is actually bread. Despite those two, I would happily go again.

Lovely evening celebrating a family birthday. The food was delicious and we had great service.

We came for lunch on a weekday lunchtime and the service was very slow. It took over 10 minutes to be seated for a booked table, 25 minutes for a drink order, a further 20 minutes for a food order. Either not enough staff working or they aren’t working efficiently - it shouldn’t be down to the customer to ask for service in a relatively quiet restaurant. One persons food had to be sent back as it was cold on arrival and another decided not to send theirs back in fear of how long it would take to come back to the table. In total we were there for two and a half hours - for four people and two courses. It was all of our first time in this restaurant after hearing good things - safe to say none of us will be rushing back.

Oh dear what a shame, we've been here on numerous occasions and never had a bad experience like we did today. The start was OK but the main leaves alot to be desied. Steak was awful and cheewy, sea bass was soggy and so was the parmentier potatoes (kept warm for too long). It will be a long time before we ho back...

Finally visited and very, very average. Probably below average for Lichfield. Rang in advance as we were running 5 minutes late. Rang twice and no answer either time. We had booked in on a Monday at midday and when we arrived the placed was pretty empty so no reason for them not to answer. Lady who greeted us did so with little enthusiasm. Kind of set the tone. Had to chase up table water despite restaurant being very quiet. Food was distinctly average. Calamari starter tasted as if they had been frozen. Lacked any taste and batter was soggy. Main was okay. Portion acceptable but drenched in a lot of oil....everything had been soaked in oil. Rosemary potatoes had no rosemary on them. Skipped desert based on the rest of the meal. Won't be in any rush to return and wouldn't recommend. Felt like I was eating in a pub chain. Have since found out its now owned by M&B so no surprise.

One of Lichfield's most established eateries. An exciting menu and reasonable prices paired with solid, professional service and a well presented restaurant make Ego a firm favourite. Ideally situated next to the beautiful Minster pool with views of the cathedral and Beacon Park just over the road you can't go wrong.

Great food, waitress service was excellent and good atmosphere what more could you want.

Dreadfully slow service on this visit, and has been the last few times I've been. Garlic bread (sharing starter) sat on the pass for 10 mins before I had to stop our waitress and ask her to bring it over as we'd already been waiting 20 mins! It was quite hard by the time we got it (shame as it's usually delicious). Main courses arrived and were equally disappointing. Spaghetti Carbonara (which had also sat on the pass for ages) was drying out and extremely salty. Lamb rump was absolutely delicious, so tender and tasty, but the portion was at least one third white fat meaning the edible quantity was quite small. Garlic fried potatoes were awful - the cubes were hard and we couldn't taste garlic. They'd run out of asparagus so we opted for tenderstem brocolli which was just about raw. At this point we'd already been there for 90 minutes - for a garlic bread and 3 mains?! 1 person had pudding, apple & cinnamon pie. The pastry base was just a doughy mess and they'd run out of custard - how can you "run out of custard" in a restaurant? This tells me not much is made fresh if the pastry chef can't make some more. I reluctantly still left a 10% tip as I wasn't sure who's fault it was that it was slow and underwhelming, but Ego will no longer be my go-to place to eat in Lichfield.

This is our favourite ego food was luvly great service and 2 4 1 cocktails is great, can recommend the mojito,always delivers a great experience.

We went to ego on Friday it was quite busy, food was a bit mixed for us. My husbands pella was a bit bland, my main was ok the prawns were nice just needed a bit more flavour in the linguine . The dessert was good.

Lovely meal at Ego enjoyed Prix fix menu which was excellent value and delicious! Staff were welcoming, helpful and friendly and atmosphere is so nice! Would definitely recommend 🥰

first of all my friend is vegan and they did her starter wrong so had to restart so she ate hers alone, her main course was the fritters and they were very dry and powdery and the chicken on the kebabs was very dry but the pudding was delicious .

We visited on Wednesday 11 9 2024 For my wife's Birthday We had a voucher for a 3 course meal We both had soup fillet steak and chocolate brownie The food was excellent as always We had difficulty with the Birthday Voucher Which was soon rectified by a really helpful waitress We will be back soon

We’ve been meaning to try here for ages as everytime we walk past it’s super busy and now we know why! We went on a Tuesday for steak night and it did not disappoint. Starters were lovely, we have halloumi fries and garlic mushrooms. We also had a fillet and ribeye steak which were cooked to perfection how we requested. The stage were really friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere with it being busy but not too loud was perfect. Highly recommend!

Great food, I knocked a star off as one half of my 'duo of pork' was a bit overdone and hard to chew, but the rest of the dish was delicious. On a Saturday night there was a loud and busy atmosphere and the service was brisk, bordering on brusque. It got uncomfortably hot, to the point of putting me off ordering a dessert, but was an otherwise enjoyable evening.

Very friendly staff, nothing too much trouble for them. Food was amazing! Very tasty and good portions. We ate from the celebrations menu…excellent value for money. Only down side was it was extremely warm in the restaurant, and was told air conditioning was not working. Would definitely recommend a visit.

Victoria our assistant was very helpful! Quality of the food has declined it’s why I’ve not eaten at Ego’s Lichfield for a few years and disappointingly nothing has changed, 2 of the guests were ill after the meal. I booked a meal for 4 guests on Friday evening. On arrival we were informed the air conditioning was broken however sliding doors were open, lucky we had one of the warmest evenings, however with the doors open and when the food did arrived it cooled very quickly with the stiff breeze The starter took far to long to arrive(from ordering to receive over 40mins), found I was having to flag down assistance and enquire on time scale for next course, not great, main course too over 1hr to arrive. It seemed our table was step up for 3 people although I had booked online over a week in advanced for 4 guests hence had to ask for additional water glasses and cutlery. Unfortunately won’t be attending again but will continue to dine at one of Lichfield’s authentic Italian restaurants.

Great meal, but not really enough staff for the amount of people. The restaurant was extremely hot and stuffy when asked if the air conditioning could be put on we were advised it was not working and had never been fixed since the refurbishment. As a migraine sufferer I felt unwell and had to leave and wait outside till the rest of the party had finished their meals. Bit disappointing for a mid range restaurant, even Mc Donald’s has air con.

The Restaurant offers a pleasant ambiance, providing a nice atmosphere for diners. However, the lack of parking on-site is a drawback, as customers are forced to navigate through a battered car park full of potholes, requiring a 5 to 6-minute walk to reach the restaurant. The food at Ego Restaurant is average, with the pizza being a notable example. While it's decent, it falls short of the authentic flavors found in other pizza establishments. Despite this, the overall dining experience is enjoyable, thanks to the inviting atmosphere and attentive service. Overall, Ego earns a rating of 3 stars. While it has its charms, including a pleasant ambiance and satisfactory service, improvements in parking convenience and culinary authenticity could enhance the overall dining experience. UPDATED: 31/08/2024 Visited again on 31st August 2024, with a group of around 30 people. This time, the food was significantly improved, and the service from the staff was noticeably better. Based on this experience, I'm happy to revise my rating from 3 to 4 stars.

Booked for party of 14 online... couldn't be easier with place cards for everyone as well. Great value on the fixed menu with excellent choice!

The Monday special offer was clearly popular as it was busy but well worth the visit.

Helpful staff. Food ok but not special. Chicken liver pâté tasty but chicken kebab starter was dry. I was very lucky not to crack a tooth on the piece of stone found in the plum chutney. Very nice setting by the water but not enough to tempt me again.

The food was fabulous as always. So was the atmosphere. However, the service was quite slow and it would be better as we were a large party and had prebooked our food as well. Also, the bill was incorrect when it was eventually brought over, even though I had rung up earlier to advise about 1 member of the parties food to be cancelled. Very disappointing indeed. Especially as it was for a family birthday celebration as well.

The staff were very understanding that two of our party were going to be late, and subsequently couldn’t come. We photographed our starters then just tucked in.

Forgot to take photos, but great place. Great service with lovely food. Not the greatest selection of beers but managed to find one. (Please put a proper cider on, not nasty sweet fruity ones) Recommend this place 👍🏼

Has always been somewhere we have enjoyed eating, unfortunately it seems to have become bang average. Very busy and noisy atmosphere even mid week. Really hot and uncomfortable. Service was really lacking- inattentive. Food was not up to scratch considering the price points on the menu. All in all will unfortunately not be returning which seems a shame but it seems to have gone very down hill.

I had a fantastic experience at Ego! The food, the service, and the vibes were amazing. Special mention to both Scarlett and Anneka who served us - they were awesome! They were attentive and kind, and we had a lot of laughs. Highly recommend and will 100% be coming back!

Well we arrived and their was dead insects all over the front window menu not a good start A few customers came out and had said the food was average and over priced So not the best start We was seated on a very very small table asked to move. Came to ordering and their was a comment due to the amount of food we ordered from the waitress which wasn't ideal really. Ordered steak medium well, came well done which is fine but it had zero taste what's soever the onion rings was the only nice thing Peri peri hanging chicken just tasted of sweet peppers. Cod looked good but tasted bland So overall a very poor/ average experience i would recommend going to a local pub for better quality service and food.

Great welcome and helpful as I have difficulty walking. Lovely food and very attentive waiting staff. My wife and I (it was her birthday yesterday) would not hesitate to recommend Ego Lichfield and will be visiting again soon. Thank you !
