Ideal outside space on patio or grassed area. Just the place to sit and soak up the sun whilst catching up with friends

Service by Gemma was excellent and attentive atmosphere was good food was good but some of the meat was a bet too well done on one of the roast dinners, but overall was enjoyable.

I ate with 5 friends on Friday 14th July. I had the steak and ale pie from the lunchtime menu. Dissapointing, half cooked inch thick pastry with less than 2 ozs of steak and gravy underneath. Chips also tasted like oven cooked. I won't be rushing back.

Been numerous times during the week excellent. Went for Sunday lunch terrible. Very small portions of dry overcooked meat. Cauliflower cheese couldn’t cut it it was so hard. Potatoes coked perfectly in the middle but couldn’t cut though the skin. Not a pleasant experience won’t go again for Sunday lunch.

As a regular at the Punchbowl ego we thought we would try the fox cub. The team were friendly and drinks arrived quickly, but sadly that’s where the positives ended. We waited over an hour for food, after finding out they’d run out of chips, my steak sandwich was soggy, and the haddock was nearly burnt. Everything felt a bit overpriced for the quality. No one checked in on us during the meal, and we had to go looking for someone to pay. A shame, as we were hoping for better — but we won’t be rushing back.

Visited Ego yesterday to celebrate a family birthday. The restaurant was busy, however we were impressed at the prompt and friendly service. The food was beautifully presented and tasted delicious. The children were excited to make their own pizza and the 2 for £12 cocktails is great value for money. We will definitely return, a great afternoon had by all!

A great night at EGO for all the reasons stated. Food: A wide variety on offer, my wife and I had the mixed kebab, superb. Service: Exceptional and to a person, delivered with professionalism. For example, we were informed that there was a delay with one of our party's kebab orders and that whilst we had to wait a complmentary bread, oil and olive dish would be delivered to each of us by way of apology. Atmosphere: Wonderful, a very well decorated warm and inviting atmosphere for a family gathering at a difficult time and after a stressful day visiting an elderly, very poorly relative. Thanks to everyone at EGO, I can honestly say as I stay and eat all over the UK in my job role, you are truly very good at what you do.

We visited at an extremely busy time given it was Mother’s Day, but were nevertheless greeted warmly by Evie who seated us quickly. This gratitude was present throughout our stay, both with our server Grace and bartender Will. The food was excellent to round off the day, we will definitely visit again in the near future!

Ate here for Mothers Day, set menu, 3 courses for £34.95. There was plenty of choice, the goats cheese starter was delicious, garlic mushrooms a bit of a let down. Most of us had roast dinners. The duck leg was tasty, roast potatoes weren’t great, bit hard and not browned. Dessert was lemon tart which was nice. Service was attentive and good, the food just lacked the ‘wow’ factor and felt it was expensive for a set menu

Really impressed with the service from Keira. Our mains took a little while to be served due to an error on the order system, which Keira highlighted to the team to rectify this and she brought any drinks we ordered from her quickly

Worst Meal ever. Been on several occasions before but today we waited for over an hour for our main course which was only luke warm when it finally arrived without an apology. The restaurant wasn’t full and now I know why. Over £120 for 3 Adults and 1 Child absolutely ridiculous for the meal served.

On this visit, food took a very long while to get to us. It was busy but by the time we got served most tables had cleared. My steak was okay but peppercorn sauce had been forgotten as was a serving of fries. This was rectified but still after this long wait one would have expected a bit better. Didnt complain but were left a tad wanting. Still good value and will hope for better experience next time

We have been a few times now and the service has been really slow. At the last couple of times they have made errors with our order. We asked for a medium rare steak and we got a well done steak. When we mentioned about something else that went wrong the waitress was not apologetic and had lost all friendliness. 😢

First time visit had a steak , beautifully cooked from the lunch menu and my daughter had cod with mushroom risotto off the a-la-carte menu also very nicely done. The surroundings were very cosy and lovely and warm with excellent service from the staff. We certainly will be coming again, very busy at lunch time on a grey miserable day outside.

My partner and myself booked a table for 3.30 on a Wednesday. Once arriving we were informed of an offer for 2 courses for 2 people for £40. My partner informed the waiting staff that she needed gluten-free and we were informed that this was not a problem. We ordered drinks straight away (lager shandy and large white wine). Unfortunately there was no labelling for gluten free so my partner had to ask. Waiting staff then had to go and ask the kitchen. (This is no concern as I'd rather be 100% sure) We ordered a prawn starter and a gluten free paté. For some reason the prawns were brought to the table by themselves and we waited a few minutes for the paté. No explanation for why they came separate. It literally felt like food was just dumped at the table with no real care. Portion sizes were okay. Paté was smaller than expected but my partner enjoyed it. 7 king prawns which I found good. Only complaint is that there was far too much chilli for my taste and prawns were slightly overcooked. We did not receive a check back during the starter. At no point did any staff even ask if we would like a drink. We finished starters and waited approximately 5 minutes for table to be cleared. We were them asked if we would like another drink. Still noone asked about the food. We both ordered steaks (1 blue, 1 medium rare) both with garlic butter. These arrived in good time. The blue steak was cooked more than the medium rare. We continued to eat as at this point we realised that staff were too busy talking between themselves instead of ensuring customers were happy. We received one check back as we were almost finished. Steak was okay but over cooked. Chips were standard, onion rings were very greasy. We decided to stay for a dessert as we don't get to eat our often. Server took our order and again received in good time. Again no check back. We could hear staff talking between themselves from around the corner from our table. Nothing obscene but still unprofessional. We then waited for almost 10 minutes for our table to be cleared. We asked for the bill and paid up. Women did not ask how anything was and appeared very uninterested. Overall food was okay but service was appalling. For the price I wish we had gone elsewhere as I've had better service at chain microwave pubs Just to update, my partner started with diarrhoea about 2 hours ago and I have just started with the same. The only thing we have eaten today is from this restaurant. I expect a response as soon as possible

Brilliant and many thanks for accommodating us we had a wonderful relaxing day with great food and drinks ,and it might not sound much but going the extra mile and getting a fried egg on my steak, once again many thanks to all the team looking forward to our next visit

Ok so the Sunday roast looked great but failed on the hard roast potatoes. There could of been a bit more greens too it and stuffing. So couple of things missing. It was OK but can get better for cheaper also. The pub and staff are brilliant to be fair. Plenty of parking space and didn't have to reserve a table. I would go back and try there main menu and hope it's just a off day that day. The rest of the food was cooked great and tasty.

Absolutely lovely place. Great options for gluten free. Loved that the bar area is dog friendly. Very child friendly, my daughter had the pizza and she got to put it together herself before it went in the oven, a nice little touch! Great service, will definitely be back.

First time here for my Birthday and the food was Great and the Service was Fab

This was a lovely evening meal with my mum. The staff were not over attentive,the food was tasty. We booked for 6.30,by 7.30 the volume of noise in the restaurant did become very overwhelming though.

We have started to visit Ego Fox Cub at Little Hoole regularly on a Wednesday evening for the dine out for two deal. This deal is excellent value for money and as a result the restaurant is always full with plenty of atmosphere. The food and service is also great. Really hoping that this deal carries on for the long term.

I took my sisters here for birthday treat on a Monday evening and took advantage of the 2 courses for £20.95. The food was lovely and the staff very attentive and friendly. Unfortunately we only managed 1 photo between the 3 of us.

Fab food and we were looked after very well. It was our wedding and they put a sparkler on my dessert with "Happy anniversary" written in chocolate, made it a special evening x

As usual, experience here was fantastic. My go to place for the excellent vegan menu along with excellent service.

Overall impression was a good experience even though the time awaiting the first course was rather extended. Bearing in mind it was quite busy I suppose it was to be expected. The food was well cooked and served hot which is important to us. This was our first visit to EGO I am sure we will be back.

The service was slow even though the restaurant was relatively quiet. We were in the restaurant for 2 hrs 45 mins! When we received our main courses we had no cutlery so had to request more. I also had to request napkins, which never arrived. We also had to chase up drinks on a couple of occasions

The lady who was Front of House went above and beyond to help me retrieve a discount code on my phone - she is always fantastic and such an asset to the business.

A lovely meal made all the better because a young lady noticed my son was struggling with how noisy a party was next to us and offered to move us to a quieter table, which was very much appreciated. We’ll definitely be back soon. Good was fantastic and the staff were lovely.

Had afternoon tea with my daughter. The food selection was good and very tasty. Included cappuccino and speciality teas. Very nice.

Always consistent quality food and it's very good. Friendly staff and service isn't rushed. This is not a fast food place. Look upon it as a typical Spanish restaurant where the food is freshly cooked but will take a little time to arrive dependent upon the number of people dining. Sit back and chill.

What a great little pub/r'rant near Penwortham. Lovely garden in the sun. Free lge car park. Interiors are cosy and stylish. Staff are happy and the food is both presented well and Hot and Tasty. A great stop for a drink and a nibble. 🙂

1 hour after taking our order and no food. Drinks not offered. Told the beef was poor quality after 40 minutes from ordering. Service ridiculously slow. Would never come again.

We have been to Ego at the Fox Cub many times and the food is always good, the service is always good, the staff are always friendly and the surroundings are comfortable. What more could we want?

I came following a recommendation from a friend. I didn’t find the menu very appealing, the calamari was rubbery and greasy and the salmon fish cakes were dry, as was the rocket salad (no dressing) and the fries were stuck together. The service was descent and the atmosphere was jolly as a ladies group was celebrating a birthday. But I won’t be returning again any time soon.

Hmm 1 star this time. So I spent £65 for a meal. Starter ×1, mains x2, dessert x2 & drinks (non alcoholic). Starter ok isish. Mains pizza base as thin as paper & burnt around the edges. Risotto no chicken small portion and bland no taste. Desserts well small & no worth the money. Staff were not attentive apart from asking every 3 minutes did we want more drinks. Sorry no. After the last experience with uncooked kebabs and refunds I expected better. Change the menu a bit and stop serving the same things for the last 3 years. Atmosphere empty tables in the restaurant so not much if any atmosphere. Would I recommend no, not until you start giving value for money until then I will eat out elsewhere. I have been a loyal customer in the past but something needs to change for me to return.

Consistently good quality food, service and atmosphere. It was surprisingly busy when we visited on a Tuesday lunchtime. We had pizza's and loved them, thin crispy bases done in a pizza oven. My partner had goats cheese and red oinion chutney which was delicious and I chose to make up my own pizza which was; mushrooms, artichoke and black olives, which was also delicious. They have a special lunchtime menu for those who don't want to eat a full meal.
