Called in for a late lunch and not that busy, had a lovely lunch from the fixed price 3 course menu. Served by the wonderful Emma that looked after us and was able to recommend from the menu and engaged in conversation nicely. What an absolute disappointment. £14.95 for haddock and chips. It was a child size portion, fish were tiny but when cut through batter no fish in there, only a tiny sliver like wafer thin ham (wished I'd took a photo) frozen French fries and a possible dessert spoon of mushy peas. The rump steak was the size of a jam jar lid, with again frozen French fries. All very bland and tasteless. Can't believe you charge the prices. Will not go again!!!!

We stopped off here as part of our journey back to Norfolk. We picked The Beverley Arms as my family had been born and lived in Ackworth. I hadn't been in the pub for many years. What a lovely welcome, the pub looked amazing and the staff exceptional. Georgina out waitress was professional, polite and helpful. Food didn't disappoint either. Well done!! We will come back when on our travels.

Being local to Ackworth, I have dined / had drinks at Ego many times and have all been enjoyable experiences. With this in mind, we booked to have my mum's 50th Birthday in the conservatory to host a family meal of 43 guests. The whole process, from booking to dining to sorting payments, was really stress free. This whole process, along with the smooth - running of the evening, was made possible due to Elle and the Ego team, who went above and beyond to ensure we all had a lovely afternoon. All meals were served timely, fresh and warm with all allergies catered for too. We have literally never had a family meal where everyone was happy - until last weekend at Ego. The room was set up well for when we arrived, with accessibility needs considered too. The room was set up in a way which meant everyone could chat to each other and mingle without being in anyone's way which we really liked, especially as there was so many of us. All bar staff were quick to serve and made delicious cocktails. All the team were friendly and happy to help, even lighting birthday candles and helping pass out children's cupcakes we had fetched. We all really enjoyed the evening and we are all very grateful to Elle and the team for ensuring everything went smoothly, meaning we could relax and enjoy the family get together. Much appreciated. On line I'd booked for restaurant at 2.45 on arriving was told delays and to come back at 3.15. On returning waited further 10 minutes to be sat in conservatory near open fire exit door. Then advised only mothers day 3 course menu even though online booking showed main menu only. Table wasn't set out like those in main building. Was told be a shame not to order given our 45 minute wait. Then told further wait of 45 minutes on food. We choose to leave and wasn't offered any thing for our disappointment. Overall the worst experience and a spoilt afternoon.

We came here for mother's day for a booking for 6pm. It was a 3 course menu but we were told straight away that most of the starts had gone but could choose to have a 2 course meal instead. We ordered our mains but then was told one of the mains had gone too. We then waited an hour and a half for our mains to arrived. I ordered salmon with peas and I got THREE garden peas! My partner also had to ask for his sauce and some of his food was cold. My son's roast however was lovely! At this point, I had to request for a manager and to be fair, she didn't amazing job at handling our complaint. She managed to bring me out some green beans. We declined to stay for dessert as it this point it was past 8pm but the manager did make sure we were compensated. The evening was such a let down and unfortunately this is the 3rd time we have had a bad experience here and wont be returning again.

We had a table booked at 6pm on mothers day. When we arrived our table wasn't ready which was fine we had a drink but when we went to order there was only 2 of the 6 starters available so was told we could have 2 course instead of the 3 course set menu. We ordered and waited 1 hour 40 mins for our mains well 3 of them the other 2 waited another 10 mins for theirs. Then half the desserts weren't available. I appreciate it was mothers day but they only had pre booked tables so should have been prepared for the amount of people. Really disappointed

I’ve given this restaurant two chances, and unfortunately, both visits have been a letdown. The service is consistently slow, with long waits to even place an order, let alone receive the food. Almost 3 hours for a Sunday roast is abysmal. When the food finally arrived, it was underwhelming - both in quality and presentation. Given the wait times, I expected something worth the delay, but instead, it felt like a waste of time and money. With so many better dining options available, I can’t justify giving this place another try. If you’re after a relaxed meal with good service and quality food, I’d suggest looking elsewhere.

Josh was absolutely fantastic as a host, he was brilliant with my son and very welcoming, adding to the lovely atmosphere in the restaurant. We all had a Sunday roast which none of us could fault, would definitely recommend!

Went for the set Valentine's meal tonight. Both of us enjoyed all three courses, superb tasty food, and not rushed. An enjoyable evening and good service. Just to add, we were in the conservatory bit , and although they had some high up heaters it was still a tad cold.

We have never had a bad meal or service at Ego, we particularly love the Ackworth restaurant, we came to take advantage of the 50% off mains deal, and tonight we were served by Levi who was lovely and polite and even catered to some amendments to my meal. A lovely experience as always.

I remember The Beverley Arms from years ago, but the re-furbishment is amazing. This Ego is much better than the one at Horbury in all respects. Phill looked after us superbly well, the food was fantastic and we had the most enjoyable 3 hours, no rushing to get us out. Our second visit and we'll definitely be back.

We meet friends here several times a year - four of us altogether. Location very good for this as we each take an hour to get here, combining it with a morning visit to Nostell Priory. Menu is extensive and very varied meaning we can all find something we like including some creative vegetarian dishes. It is also dog friendly which is very important as we always bring our dog. We wouldn't visit if it wasn't! And dog friendly areas aren't tucked away but spaces you'd pick to sit without a dog. The lunch menu and Wednesday menus are particularly good value and as a member I receive other offers during the year. Staff are friendly and professional, welcome excellent. When we visited yesterday our server was Craig and we couldn't have had better service. Really look forward to our visits there!

Not been here for a while, very attentive and friendly staff but took one star off as we had a very long wait for food but she did apologise. The food, chicken and chorizo paella and slow cooked morracon lamb was of a very good standard. We would happily go back again.

We had prawn cocktails for starters and Kebabs for main course, both were delicious.

Sat at our booked table straight away not too busy as 5.30pm Saturday night,we were served by Phil. We asked to be moved as very draughty near the windows and I didn't want to take my coat off. Phil moved us to a warmer spot straight away. Ordered our starter and drinks, food was amazing. Came to our table very quickly didn't have to wait long. Had our main courses but couldn't finish them as outdid ourselves on the starters. Note taken. Absolutely delicious food cannot fault it. A wonderful professional restaurant on our doorstep. Very aptly served by Phil and checked on really well. Thank you Phil and big compliments to the chef. Outstanding dining out.

Just had an amazing Birthday meal thanks to the team at Ego. A great warm welcome followed by an outstanding meal which was served to us by Levi, such a lovely lady, who helped to make our evening a special one. We done Ego, choice of chefs and the rest ot the team make a visit definitely worthy of a 5 star review. Great dinning experience!

Been taken out for lunch new years day but was not what I expected of such a well rated place. But very disappointed the food of my family was enjoyed but the staff were over worked not informative . The service was very very slow but will not go again and I live local .

Went here for a family meal was starving by the time food arrived 1 and half hours later half the food was cold the other half looked inedible would never go back really we should have gone somewhere good like Miller and Carter

Really slow service, food arrived and was not very hot. Forgot our drinks and we could see them sat on the side for 20+ minutes. Food was mediocre, not worth the price. Staff very pleasant but we were there for nearly 3 hours before we finally finished. It wasn't busy either. Shame as the premises is nice but just not worth the wait.

Booked a table today with friends arrived at the restaurant to be stood nearly 10 minutes before being seated . When we finally got shown our tables the manager said I’ll bring the menus over and get you some drinks . We sat there 10 minutes again when said manager looked up and said oh! Clearly he’d forgot about us , fair enough we all forget things . When we challenged him about our wait he snapped at us saying he was busy and we weren’t the only people here and he was on his own . He sent a trainee waitress over at this point drinking coffee out of a Costa coffee cup (not a good look ) ! We then expressed our feelings about being left just sat there to her and the girl then snapped at us again saying that she’d only just arrived at work and it was nothing to do with her . At this point we just got our stuff and left . The place wasn’t really that busy and to be honest if they treat all their customers this way I’m not surprised it was empty . Definitely wouldn’t go back and I will be telling others the same !!!

Stunning! In what looks like a well dressed and maintained pub there is this Mediterranean restaurant. It almost feels like a secret club. Amazing and attentive staff, a wide selection of options and pretty reasonable prices too! A must try for Wakefield

Always good food, always very pleasant staff. Only complaint service of food is always slow.

We have been here many times with family and as a couple. We do love it. But I felt compelled to mention the cauliflower steak! As a vegetarian we don’t get much choice and sometimes feel there’s no imagination that goes into the food which is why I ordered the cauliflower steak on the steak menu offer £19.50 for 2 courses I think it is. I’m glad I didn’t pay full price cos it is not value for money and is a downright rip off to be honest. For a slither of cauliflower (cut to the shape of steak) with seasoning sprinkled on top, half of a beef tomato, large mushroom, chips and a small pile of rocket I think is a lot of money to pay when meat eaters get a steak for the same price. It won’t stop me going here, but I certainly won’t order the cauliflower steak again and to be quite frank, I think it should be removed from the menu. It gives the word ‘steak’ a bad name.

Visited here recently for a special occasion. After waiting to be greeted we had to go find someone. The place had only just opened and there was only two people in the place before we arrived. It took an hour and a half to be served our food (2 out of the 4 of us ordered off the lunch menu). There were other people complaining that the service was slow yet some people who came in after us were seated, fed and left before we even received our food so I'm not sure what was actually going on. The food was mediocre and not hot considering. Appeared as though it had been left waiting for someone to bring it. I emailed the company but after a week they haven't responded so that's why I have left the review. The staff were nice enough just very slow overall service. We had driven 30 minutes to visit this particular pub and were greatly disappointed. Wouldn't recommend. Update: 4 weeks later and still no response from the restaurant regarding our complaint.

This was a disappointing visit as I wrote like ego as a chain. I ordered the duo of Pork which was a Serrano wrapped fillet and some pork belly. The latter was tasty enough but the fillet was dry almost to being inedible. I was the closest I have been to sending something back for a long time, but I was absolutely starving so I just gave my jaw a real workout. Desserts were nothing worthwhile either a tiramisu with little coffee flavour and too much sponge. Described as a torte but ending up as neither. The coffee was good though. Front of house staff were fab. I would hope I just picked up a dud plate. (Also apologies the picture of the pork is abysmal, it was either hunger shakes or eagerness to eat !)

Food was top class, great atmosphere. Service was good as far as hospitality goes, but got the order of 3 drinks wrong, then had to ask 15 later as they came after the food was served. Then charged for us for the faulty drink order, realised after checking the Receipt, so had to go back for a refund which was a bit embarrassing! 🙄

Disappointed 😞 Looked forward to this but it was a very poor experience. The starter came and we thought it was very nice, but unfortunately it went down hill from there. The order for my main was third choice as the first two things they didnt have. The mains for four of us took over an hour to arrive, which considering there was only another couple of tables with people on them was a surprise. The lamb I had was luke warm at best, having waited so long I thought I would just eat it, the roast potatoes well the less said the better. The pasta was cold and got sent back, it arrived back less than two minutes exactly the same. In the end they ask if we wanted something else. My sons dish consisted lamb and cus cus but the cus cus was solid and clumpy. We have been to the Horbury branch many many times and it has always been superb.

Food was very late, over 40 minutes wait; others who came in after served food before us. Supervisor approached who after referring to his boss gave drinks.. first time happened but needs reviewing

Just been to the ego the food was fantastic and so was the service. Levi was our waitress she was very welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed.

Waited far too long for our food after ordering, staff seemed stretched and rushed.. our conatacts Tess and Phil were very personable and friendly however ,let down by the overall experience.

I have recently started going to Ego regularly. I mainly go there with friends for lunch. The menu has one of the best choices for miles around. The atmosphere is relaxing and yesterday I went with friends for lunch. I had not seen them for many years and the staff were quite comfortable with us staying for three hours. I can highly recommend this venue.

Went with my girlfriend and her son and they both had food and said it was very nice unfortunately I'd been to the dentist 2 hours previous and my face was still numb so passed on the grub but Guinness was well kept . Busy as well at 5pm . Well done out and spacious attentive staff would definitely recommend and will definitely return and try the food.

Came for lunch today. There were about 10 customers in the whole restaurant. Our food (couple of wraps and a pizza) took over 1 hour to arrive. Waitress was really nice and pleasant but kitchen area was rediculously slowwwww. Won't be rushing back I'm afraid.

Waited a very long time for food. Staff seemed un phased .£10 Kebab night, my Kebab @ £20 had 4 pieces of meat and copious amounts of vegetables. Poor value !!!! Childs meal ( chicken tenders ) were very dry so must have been overcooked. We won’t be returning couldn’t wait to leave.

We visited for a birthday meal and chose the £40 for 2 deal. My starter of toasted goat’s cheese and Jen’s beetroot chutney was delicious, as was my partner’s gambas al pilpil. For the main course we both chose chicken Milanese with fries and a side salad, all of which was excellent. We had a bottle of house white wine, which went very well with everything. Our server, Elle, was charming and efficient, as always. All the staff looked happy in their jobs and it was a lovely atmosphere. We shall be back soon.

Recently visited Ego for Sunday dinner, on arrival we were sat down to the table to be told there was no beef. I would understand if we visited at the end of food service but our reservation was 15:00. I then ordered a bottle of wine to be told they had no wine left and the alternative was another bottle which was £7 more expensive. When the meal came the green beans were rock hard and the plate was overloaded with cabbage. Due to them running out of beef we had to then pay an additional £4 each for Lamb. So overall we had to pay an additional £15 on top of our bill for a fault on their behalf. We have eaten here numerous times and it’s always been quite pleasant, however I will not be visiting for Sunday lunch again!

Staff very friendly and attentive. Fully conversant with dishes on the menu.
