Eggborough Fisheries in Selby

Having lived in hensall for some 10 years which is a stones throw from Eggborough and this fish shop this has been my go to source for fish and chips. I note a couple of poor reviews and cannot make sense of them as they bear no resemblance to the place and service I’ve come to expect. I rate these products as probably the best I’ve ever had and I’m 63 . The size of the portions is superb… if I had any criticism it would be that what was once a cheap tea for the family is not that cheap anymore. But the stuff is cooked fresh in front of you. Literally the fish are cooked to order as you enter. I cannot explain others poor experience but belive me in the years we have used this place it has never disappointed me once and long may it continue to do so! Ian

Haddock special wasn't cooked to order as advertised and the fish was dry as a bone. The battering was like a cake and the chips felt half cooked and extremely greasy. Its a shame what has happened to this chippy as when it first opened it was beautiful - easily the best in the area.

Worst Fish and chips I've had. The fish was totally inedible. All 3 fish had no fish that wasn't totally dried up. Total waste of money.

Called after 6 and had to wait for the fish and chips to cook, not a problem. Staff pleasant as usual, food good, prices fair,parking available outside . What more could you ask? Keep up the good work.

Worst fish and chips I have had in a long time. Not even warm. The food was already cooked the fish was so thin amd what seemed like yesterday's chips will not be going back . I assume we have new owners as its definitely not like the last time we used them John B

When hey first opened this was the best fish and chips for miles but it has gradually gone down, They rarely have fish ready and drained so you end up with a greasy soggy mess by the time you get it home. Today there was a sausage missing from the order, the bread cake was wrapped with a fish and was totally inedible, just a mush of greasy dough. The fish were encased in thick batter and when you got inside there was hardly any fish there. Neither my wife or I enjoyed it ! I have had fish and chips from here many, many times, but never again. I'll drive into Selby and go to Mr.C's they cost more but are so much better !

We had 26 portions delivered to a nearby campsite. Can't fault the portions or the taste - delicious!

Excellent food and great quality. never fails in its portion size - the staff are friendly and helpful and overall this place is well recommended.

I called for fish and chips at tea time on Wednesday 12th June. Usually in the past they are nice from this shop but on this occasion there was hardly any fish in the portion and it was dried up to the point where it was inedible. The portions are quite large with enough chips for 2 but on this day at £5.80 it was an expensive bag of chips. We will try again to see if we were just unlucky on this day.
