Effy in Nottingham

Best coffee not only in Nottingham, but best I have tried personally. We venture around trying different coffee and still talk about this shop! I went for the Flat white, and the cinnamon buns are also popular and delicious. Their coffee blend is certainly unique, more fruity and different and definitely a stand out.

100% the best coffee going around, me and my husband take the time to come visit every so often from Sheffield (a city which has good coffee), as it just tastes so good from here. Always a large range of filters, and always excellent, never had a bad coffee. They also do great peach iced tea, and a lovely selection of sweet treats. Personally I'd like to see more vegan options, though as someone who is lactose intolerant I often will eat them anyway!

Authentic coffee. It's very hard to get decent coffee in this country, that isn't 99% water, so was a brilliant little place. Nice vibe too, although I felt like a bit of a hipster tbh 😂

Coffee doesn't get better than this. The focus on incredibly high quality beans and roasts, experimental brew methods, and pastries that could bowl over most patisseries means that Effy leaves others in the dust. It's quite literally a smorgasbord of tastes well beyond what you get in high end coffee shops, and is ahead of the game on the whole coffee scene. Their knowledge is second to none.

I find the staff OVER-CHARGE at this place. I visited the store last week and had been served by a tall guy with a hat and glasses. I order the same thing whenever I go to Effy. I visit 3-5 times a month but seem be charged more and more every time I go in ordering the same thing. I’ve noticed before you couldn’t see what your paying for and it use to happen a lot and now it’s still happening. PLEASE CHECK WHAT YOUR PAYING FOR AT THIS PLACE!!!

Nothing to not like here. Connoisseurs. Best mocha I've had, would recommend. Coconut milk would be dope. This place should be everywhere. Will be back, new regular when I'm in town.

Roses are red, violets are blue, Effy makes the best coffee experience in the neighbourhood. Honestly guys maybe the best in the world. They always got a fresh menu with new coffees, honey processed fermented co fermented fruity chocolaty flowerish coffees. There are always something new what will make even posh tastebuds happier than ever. If you are speciality coffee lover and you are in Notts this is definitely the place to go. Also prices are totally reasonable and the little cakes and pastries are just as much great as the coffee.

Today was our second visit to Effy. If you like your coffee then this is the place to go. These friendly people know their coffee and todays double espresso was as good as I have ever had, if not better. Thankyou gentlemen, we will be back!

I hadn't been here before but it came highly recommended by friends and I can see why the coffee was delicious and we loved the mugs as well, the atmosphere was very chilled out and would be a great place to sit back and relax.

Was not impressed, was recommended, but found it to be cramped and noisy, with drab dark interior. Paid £3.70 for a cold, cappuccino sized latte. Didn't complain, as I'm British 🤣 it was also too busy to. I'm so surprised, it's busy i have found much better coffee in Beeston, and West bridgeford. Maybe I'm just not knowledgeable on coffee, but I like it warm/hot.

I had George serve me today, he had a great moustache and really good customer service, we had a good chat and he told me all about the coffee, baked goods and the setup of the venue, always a great experience in effy and brilliant coffee, if you’ve been down the YouTube rabbit hole of coffee experts and always wanted to try one this is the place, thank you George and thank you effy

Very unusual coffee, I haven’t really tasted anything like it before. I understand it’s different to your generic coffee shops, which is nice... but the coffee I was served that day wasn’t to my liking personally. My main disappointment was that I didn’t really feel much of a friendly welcome, most places say hi when you walk in or thank you as you leave.

First visit today and very impressed. This is the real deal. Friendly, highly knowledgeable service from Mitch and most importantly, great coffee!

Quality coffee, proper start to the day.

I've visited twice and the coffee was a different blend each time. Both were amazing and interesting, rather than just bog standard. The guys are passionate and knowledgeable and provide great chat, as well as the space being cosy. It reminded me of coffee shops in Copenhagen, if you love coffee this is one of the best in Notts!

Checked out this very cool coffee house on the recommendation of fellow coffee lovers and we weren’t disappointed. Very knowledgeable staff and a widely varied menu for all tastes at different price points. The oak barrel coconut fermented offering we tried today in both espresso and pour over form was so interesting

I have been to a lot of coffee places in the UK but so far this has got to be the place with the best coffee. The place has amazing atmosphere and excellent coffee I would definitely recommend this place and I sure will be coming here often.

We were on holiday in Nottingham for a week and we were so in love with everything that we went twice. The place is small but beautiful, service is great, coffee is excellent (totally recommand the oat milk flat white) and the cinnamon buns, just out of the oven, were chef’s kiss !! If you are in Nottingham or passing by, definitely go check out Effy!

This place is always great, and they do the best turmeric latte by miles! Also excellent coffee and hot chocolate :) The service is always so warm and friendly and it has such a nice, relaxed atmosphere. It can get busy sometimes but to be honest the wait is still less than many of the chain coffee places and various others.

Have visited often before, and staff have always been super friendly and chatty. Asked if they had anything special on for coffee, and was recommended a roast with strawberry yoghurt tasting notes. Had it in a flat white, and the recommendation was 10/10! One of the best coffees I've had, and would go there again just for this roast.

Stayed in Nottingham for a couple of weeks and Effy had been my go-to. Great coffee and a friendly bunch!

Don’t know if I visited at an off point, but my coffee was ok, not at a level where I’d make a specific b line for here. The espresso wasn’t made fresh at point of order, which didn’t help. Brownie points for the recyclable mug and lid.

Another great place to have coffee in Nottingham. We have visited on a couple of occasions now and the coffee is banging. I love cool places like this with a nice vibe and great people. Love the teaspoons as well.

High-end specialty coffee shop. You can choose between 10 or so different beans, both for espresso and filter, from the very best roasteries, such as Friedhats, Manhattan and DAK. The staff are very knowledgeable and will gladly help you in choosing a coffee with a flavor profile that you enjoy.

Part of my Nottingham Cafe review series! This is honestly a hidden gem. It's hard to find coffee that's not only at a drinkable temperature, but actually tastes good and is made by lovely staff members! Their coffee has a slightly salted taste but in a way that enhances the brew and characterizes the coffee in my mind. Their cutlery and cups are incredible and I love the look of their store. Definitely a unique coffeeshop that I would recommend to anyone around Market Square looking for a more artisanal approach to your caffeine hits!

Staff were extremely friendly, I love the cafe vibes. It is definitely unique and has got lovely colors and interior. Something that you need to see more often in the UK because living here is depressing af. We need more places in the UK that is bright and colorful and this place is cute. I loved their turmeric latte, and i was surprised that it will be this good tbh! Definitely recommend this place. Only downside is they only offer oat milk as an alternative/substitute. It would’ve been nice if they added more to their range like coconut milk cause that’s my go to. Otherwise it is a must try coffee shop.

The best coffee i have had in my life

Delicious coffee and a cute little hang out place. Not much seating so you have yo time your visit right. This place used to have beautiful decor and really look unique however during our last visit, it was looking a bit basic. I would suggest some cushion or padding for the window seating. Overall if it's good coffee you're looking for, this is a decent visit.

It’s hard to visit places based on reviews these days as most negative reviews are from people are unfortunately out of touch and afraid of change, and therefore feel that anything that pushes boundaries must be bad. This place is what nottingham needs, fresh ideas and a beautiful product.

If you're into specialty coffee you will love this place. I had the tastiest filter coffee. I didn't even mind paying the premium price (£7.50) I was lucky enough to be the only one there, allowing me to talk to the barista for a long time. He was very friendly and answered my numerous questions. I didn't find the seats to be very comfortable and the place could do with fresh air inlet but it won't stop me from visiting again. 10/10

I don't consider myself a massive coffee drinker but when I am not drinking large amounts of tea, I really do enjoy a Flat White. Before discovering this little hidden gem on Hounds Gate, I was blissfully unaware of how delightful, delicious and complex my usual Flat White could be and would have, without hesitation settled on a bog-standard Costa Coffee drink. Not now. My Flat White at Effy was light and creamy which was complemented by a rich roastiness and an unexpected acidity that developed the flavours even further. This excellent coffee was also accompanied by a superb atmosphere and friendly customer service (even with my nearing closing time call-in!) I doubt there will be a place that will enhance my Flat White experience as much as Effy has in a single drop by. Truly, truly impressed! I will be back! ~Dan :)

Straight up the best coffee in town, black or flat white, their lean towards the funkier side of processed coffees, these down to earth, welcoming and hard working guys own this business and it’s showing in the coffee and now the pastries, I get around a bit, searching out the best coffee, this week I paused for the best flat white that I can remember, complimented by the best banana bread I’ve had the pleasure of eating. Take the time to stop by, these guys are serving up gratitude of the finest quality.

The best specialty coffee in Nottingham

Awesome staff, great value for money considering the excellent coffee and overall experience. Lovely ambience with pastel color theme (though the lighting makes it difficult to take pics). 2022-10-23 House blend espresso (in a flat white) £3.2 - Excellent. Was a floral, lightly acidic. Served with a lovely complimentary palette cleanser drink, mildly sweet with hints of earl grey

Small café with a small selection of cakes. None of them were labelled up when we went, so we had to ask what they all were! (Also, they were behind the counter uncovered, which I am not a massive fan of!) Coffee not to my taste, but my partner thought it was okay. Think it was in the process of being done up when we went, so it could've been an off day! Might try again another time if we are in the area.
