Staying at the Dunalastair hotel suites and pretty much the only options nearby was to eat here. So due to the fact our stay was for a special occasion we decided to eat here despite the prices usually being a bit off putting. We arrived and were the only ones to be eating, which was fine, but the server seemed very uneasy and nervous, maybe newish to the role?, but they were fine. We only wanted a main course and so went for two beef burgers, which came with fries, thinking for £20 they would be really lovely and filling. We asked for some tap water and a beer each. The server first forgot my fiancés beer until we asked for it again and got half a glass of tap water each. This was after already being in the seats for about 20 minutes and still the only ones here. Food arrived about 15 minutes or so later and was essentially a cheap pubs version of burger and chips. Clealry frozen chips, cheap buns and only some packet lettuce and a slice of tomato. It was fine but not worth £20 each. We are the lot as we were hungry and if we had ordered from a cheap pub that would have been fine. But for £20 each it was buttery disappointing.

Don’t be fooled by the nice-looking hotel – the restaurant is a disaster. The menu was tiny, and the food was dreadful. We ordered £22 burgers that came with no salad, no onion rings, or any sides other than a sad mix of frozen oven chips. Completely underwhelming for a place that looks the part. The service was just as bad. The untrained waiters barely knew how to pour drinks, mixing up our beers and generally being inattentive. To top it off, they called us after we left, falsely accusing us of underpaying by £20. Awful food, shabby service, and a price tag that’s laughable for what you get. Avoid this place – it’s a total disappointment.

Just eaten dinner in Monadh restaurant and thoroughly enjoyed it. Eugene greeted us in arrival and was very cheerful and welcoming. Hassan the maitre’d showed us to our table and we were offered water and the menus. We had pre booked the LRHC steak night dinner, which was very good value. It included a sharing steak, chips and salad. Amble portions and well cooked flavoursome steak. We finished with the chocolate crémeux with coffee ice cream, delicious. The Merlot wine was very nice, which we finished in the lounge. The service was excellent and Hassan was very good and efficient. We would like to thank Eugene In particularly as he made our night with his big smile and friendly chat. All round a lovely evening.

It’s a lovely restaurant with excellent fine dining like food. Please don’t expect pub food or pub speed you will be wrong here. Wines are excellent and tasty food selection for all senses. Staff very attentive but don’t forget we are in the highlands and it’s not city speed. We loved the Sunday Roast as well especially !

My 10yo daughter and I had a reservation for 8pm this evening, under the name Gillian Birnie. When we arrived, we were summarily ignored by two different staff members, until I told one of them I had a reservation, at which point he ungraciously sat us at a table closest to the exit, didn't offer any welcome, and handed us menus (I had to ask for the children's menu despite it being obvious my daughter is a child). At no point during the process of making the reservation (over the phone earlier that evening) or when we were offered menus were we asked if either of us had any allergies. My daughter has a life-threatening allergy to peanuts and some tree nuts and carries an epipen. I am frankly astonished that this was not asked, and neither could I find any allergens listed on either the main or children's menu. When it came to ordering, again, no questions about allergies. My daughter wanted the children's chicken katsu curry, and in the light of a lack of allergen information, I asked if it contained nuts. After a moment of confusion, our waiter asked if she was allergic to nuts, to which I responded that she was allergic to peanuts and some treenuts. He asked which ones, and I said she was allergic to most, and gave peanuts and cashews as an example. Without missing a beat, he immediately stated that 'he wouldn't recommend' the curry because it might have nuts. Never having come across a chicken katsu curry with nuts as an ingredient, I questioned this, and asked him to check with the chef. He disappeared momentarily to arrive back and almost gleefully declared that it did indeed contain nuts, but when I questioned which ones, he wasn't able to answer, so again he went to ask the 'chef'. Imagine my surprise when the answer came back as peanuts and cashews, the very nuts I had provided as an example. I asked why there were no allergens listed on the menu and why we hadn't been asked about allergies, and how (if there were nuts present in the kitchen) we could be sure of no cross-contamination with any other dishes. He stated that there were no nuts in the kitchen which was confusing, and I asked how could there be no nuts in the kitchen if the curry contained nuts, was it not freshly prepared? He said it was freshly prepared (and if this is indeed the case, it begs the question as to why it couldn't simply be prepared without the nuts) but that there were 'protections' in place, without specifying what those might be. Given that nobody proactively asked about allergies, that no allergens were listed on the menu, and the information we had thus far about allergens as ingredients, I decided not to risk the life of my daughter by dining in your restaurant. It is inconceivable in this age of increasingly common life-threatening food allergies that your establishment does not have a clear protocol for protecting your consumers against encountering a possible allergen, and that your staff are not better trained to deal with these situations, when someone's life could be at stake. I am frankly astonished and hugely disappointed at the way we were treated throughout our short time in your restaurant, and hope that with this feedback you can make meaningful changes for both health and hospitality improvements which are in dire need. If you are pitching your restaurant as a fine dining experience, with prices to match, it begs the question as to why these considerations are not already in place.

What a mind blowing experience. The food was exquisite .The elements that went into each dish were expertly done by a very talented chef. The service was out of this world. You actually didn't have to do a thing other than sit down and enjoy the 14 course experience. .If you ever get a chance to visit just once in your lifetime ,you really do need to try it .This is 2 star michelin at its very very best.Never have we ever tasted food so delicious
