We loved our meal here in January 2022, sadly this has now been sold and is undergoing major refurbishment, I do hope they don’t spoil the ambience of this hotel. It claims to be the oldest hotel in Scotland and is so beautiful, I bet the locals are waiting with baited breath to see what the new owners do. I will be back next year to find out what has changed, hopefully for the better

The booking system is not updated or checked regularly, also pretty pointless considering the staff don't seem to actually check or honour bookings. Understand that there may be a shortage of staffing in the area, but when a booking has been in the diary for several months, and the week prior you get told you'll need to rebook to another date when you already have a week worth of bookings secured in advance, is really not acceptable. A group of 10 of us then managed to rebook for a lunch / cocktails instead of a dinner, and upon arrival we were greeted by a very rude staff member who rudely informed us we wouldn't have had to book if it was just cocktails, and to sit wherever we wanted. It was really made into an issue and we were treated very begrudginly after this. The service was continously negative from beginning to end, and the cocktails over priced for the size of serving, however the snacks/ food were tasty. Would not return as had 3 negative customer experiences with them, one of which before I even arrived for the stay.

My family, consisting of wife, sister, brother and sister in law dined at the restaurant recently during a week in Kenmore. I will concede that the region is struggling with staff, and that there aren't many restaurants to choose from. However, our experience of this restaurant was disappointing from a service and food level. The young female server told us from the outset this was her first day working in the restaurant. But even acknowledging this fact, I would have thought she would have had an experienced member of staff showing her the ropes. When the server brought a bottle of Coke, she hadn't a clue how to use a bottle opener to take the metal top off. I politely asked if she'd like me to open the bottle, and showed her how to use the bottle opener. The food when it came was average. Nothing inspiring in terms of either presentation or flavour. When we had dessert, my wife ordered sticky toffee pudding with caramel ice cream. When it was brought to the table, the ice cream was chocolate. My wife queried the ice cream flavour. The server (not the young trainee) initially said it was caramel, but went to the kitchen to verify and came back to concede it was chocolate. She offered to change it to vanilla, only to return to say they didn't have any vanilla ! My sister and I had a chocolate mousse with macaroon. What actually came out was more of a thick sickly ganache. The consensus from our table was the food was presented and tasted like a school dinner with no thought about presentation. Coupled with distinctly average flavour, this restaurant makes for an expensive disappointment. Needless to say, we didn't re-visit the restaurant during our week stay. I would have thought that post Covid, if you are in the restaurant business you would want every aspect of the diners experience to be the very best to encourage return custom and reputation. Clearly not considered important by the hotel at this restaurant.

A beautiful setting and good standard of food, sadly I felt, let down by the Chaotic service. I fully appreciate the difficult new dining routines etc,so hope my comments are regarded as constructive. On arrival our temperatures were checked, the tables were well spaced, and floor markers for directions were good. After this things just seemed to fall apart.I was surprised the well promoted check in Scotland App wasn't being used. Taking of food and drink orders then their subsequent delivery was erratic. I noticed the staff were generally very young, but they seemed to be in a state of chaos, and unsure of themselves. On our departure, a visit to the ladies toilet was poor. Of 3 cubicles, one was out of action, one the toilet roll holder persistently fell off the wall, and the other people were having problems flushing. We did report it to reception, but had no one been to check the toilets regularly?

Had a weekday lunch here. It was not busy but the service was very slow. The starter (duck pate) was lovely but the burger, instead of being a lovely minced steak burger was a centimeter thick, mass produced lump of rubber. A MacDonalds would have been better and an eighth of the price. For some inexplicable reason, the undercooked chips were slathered in so much salt they were inedible. After waiting an appreciable length of time and having not been offered either a sweet or a coffee, we asked for the bill. Definitely one to avoid.

The lunch menu stops at 3pm, says it on the menu but the kitchen closes at 2.45pm so when you queue for 10 mins and try to order something, you can't get it.

While in Kenmore this week we stopped past the Kenmore Hotel where we enjoyed coffee & cake outside on the terrace one day, followed by a lunch inside on another day. Excellent food which was very well presented. Very friendly staff. Highly recommend.

The food was very poor. The so called warm bread was not warm at all. The haggis course did not contain much turnip and the rib eye steak was extremely fatty! The service was fine and the setting very pleasant but please don’t expect good food. This was a real disappointment!

Ate at the bar one evening when on holiday. Haloumi burger was heavily fried and served in a tough baguette ( not the promised brioche bun) and the gnocchi was lovely, but came late because we needed it without cheese. But no apology or even friendly chat

Tried to visit here in July but a local told us it closed after lockdown so don’t go here as there is a very limited choice in Stanley. The Stathord Inn serves good food at an excellent price.
