Edesia Restaurant Bar & Lounge in Bath and North East Somerset

What a fantastic restaurant. Beautiful decor and tables well-positioned to avoid being cramped. On arrival for our Saturday lunch reservation the restaurant was quiet and almost empty but it soon filled up and the atmosphere was convivial. The waiting staff were polite and very attentive and gave us good advice. A wonderful and varied menu was complimented by an excellent wine and drinks list. The food presentation was first class and the food itself was of excellent standard. I was delighted that we chose Edesia to dine with good friends and I will most certainly return again in the near future.

BEWARE ALL THE MEAT IS HALAL!! We booked to this restaurant planning on having steaks only to find after ordering all their steaks are Halal. They do not put this anywhere on their website or menu. We only found out after noticing a sign in the window. We then cancelled our steak orders as we believe halal slaughter to be cruel and completely unnecessary. Not the evening we planned and would never have booked if we had known. I gave them 2 stars purely on the staff being very friendly.

I had seen the reviews of the restaurant and the menu appealed to me. I wanted to have a wagyu rib eye steak in peppercorn sauce. I wasn’t feeling very hungry but I wanted to try the Argentinian steak with marbling, etc. The dish looked good as presented and the sauce was tasty. I had requested medium rare cooking which it was. I had a problem with the chewiness of the meat as if it was a poor cut with lot of tendinous tissue. I even wondered whether it was rib eye steak so in contrast to some other patron reviews I found the steak selection poor and not among my better experiences. The service was good. The waitress came and asked me how my steak was and I told her it was a bit chewy. The restaurant when I went on a Tuesday evening had only me as a patron whereas many of the adjacent restaurants were about half full. I object to a service charge included in the bill. It says discretionary though I would prefer to make up my own mind whether I pay a tip or not. The waiting staff are adequately remunerated in England so the tips should be a gesture of thanks by the patron rather than pre included in the bill.

The downstairs it alot better than the upstairs which is about like a village hall. However the food was great and the service was ok. Yes I would go back but ensure that you sit downstairs.

Only had drinks here as part of a meeting but how on earth you justify charging over £3 for a tiny bottle of coke is beyond me. Put off coming back to eat as don't want to have to get a mortgage to pay for drinks

A nice place. It needs redecorating though the decor is tacky and discordant. Ditch the plastic plants.

Food was poor quality. Meat was dry, the burger was giving bought from Sainsbury’s vibes (patty and 3 slices of pre sliced cheese from a packet), mac and cheese was swimming in oil. When we complained only service charge was removed (which for a table of 2 is an optional fee anyway!). Cannot fault the service, our waiter was lovely. The ambience of the place is gorgeous, just such a shame about the food.

Visited Bath and booked Edesia as it looked lovely. It did not dissapoint! Food and service were amazing, a little gem so will definitely be returning.

Really enjoyed this place. Booked for a Saturday evening in January for anniversary meal. Steak cooked perfectly and decent portion of fries. Staff were helpful and accommodating. Decor is appealing and adds to the atmosphere. Would come back

We dined here on a cold January evening and were greeted warmly. First impressions of the dining area were positive - loved the décor and theme. My only gripe was that we had to ask for the set dinner menu (which was advertised outside) and I feel this should have been handed to us along with the main menu. We ordered starters - I opted for the vegetarian empanadas with dipping sauce which was divine! I could've eaten about 10 they were so good. For main we shared a vegetarian paella which was tasty - full of mixed olives and I liked the addition of feta cheese & chargrilled lemon on top. My friend had churros for dessert and these were also tasty. The lady who served us was attentive throughout our meal. A 12.5% service charge was added to the bill which I'm not a fan of - I'm happy to tip for good service & food, but feel it should be up to the diner. Overall, a lovely dining experience and I would return.

Must say, this restaurant is really good. Service, from Yara, was on point and the food was excellent. You cannot go wrong here. Somehow the Mac and cheese side order was better than my mum's (just)...so take that as the highest recommendation!

My husband and I had a delicious meal here for our wedding anniversary. Large starter and then a very flavoursome flat iron steak. Our waitress was Abi who was very attentive and friendly and did a great job.

Great atmosphere and location is central. I think the food is certainly overpriced and not very tasty if you like seasoned or spicy food. Got the lamb and was not very pleased. If it costs less than it did, then it wouldn't be so bad.

We came here for my son’s birthday. Nachos to share, grilled octopus and burger. Perfect from start to finish. The food is in a class of its own from start to finish for a lunchtime and the staff were very attentive throughout. We will definitely come back!

My boyfriend and I came for the 35oz steak and it was amazing great atmosphere and delicious food. Abi was our server and she made out first experience here amazing prompt service and very kind, as are all the staff. Definitely recommend and will be back

Came here tonight for husbands birthday. We were a group of 5. Were sat upstairs and we were the only ones there, it did fill up pretty quick! Food came out pretty quick even though we had ordered 15 dishes!! Which was a bit of a worry! All the tapas tasted really good, Luke warm some of the dishes were though. Really expensive when we had the bill especially when you had drinks, service charge and food and no one did anything for my husbands birthday!!no slice of cake even tho we told our server!if we did come back would probably have mains instead of tapas!

This is a very well managed, lively restaurant with great food. The menu choices were good without being too complicated. The produce was good quality and the meals were well presented. The service was attentive without being intrusive and there was a lively vibe about the place. Despite being very busy it was managed very efficiently. Food and drinks were served without a long wait and it was reasonably priced. Recommended.

A beautiful spot, in a perfect location! Wonderful service thanks to Arbias. The food was incredible, I went for two tapas dishes and they were huge! =) Great decor, and the function room above looked amazing too! Recommemd for an intimate dinner or a girls brunch!

Really nice place, great food (we had our Xmas work event here recently) and the bar has a great selection of drinks (great rum and tequila choices! :) and the bar staff, and restaurant staff were top notch in their service and friendliness. :)

The decor and ambiance is good however the food was underwhelming. The chorizo croquettes and pulled pork Bon Bon’s were nice but HUGE. I felt cheated as the tapas is not tapas. When ordering tapas it is common to get 3-4 dishes, however these were like mains and so I ordered too much and didn’t enjoy half of the dishes. It is as though they know you’ll order more if it’s tapas but this shouldn’t be listed as such. The octopus was bland and boring and ridiculously large. The plantain was bland and soggy and had odd dip selections. Staff seemed impatient and were not very friendly. Changing an order was made difficult and left one of the guests feeling awkward and upon leaving we paid and didn’t even have a thank you or hope you enjoyed it…

We live locally and hadn't tried this restaurant before. We will definitely be returning! Great atmosphere, absolutely amazing food, drinks and service. Had a thoroughly enjoyable evening and could not fault a thing. Our waiter Arbias was also fantastic. Thank you for a special birthday celebration.

We were honestly very disappointed with our visit to Edesia and it didn't live up to the hype of it's current rating. The food was okay, nothing special, and certainly overpriced for what you get. The highlight was the beef short rib taco but we've had much better for cheaper elsewhere. The croquette was served luke warm, but tasted okay. The service was really quite poor... our waitress/waiter seemed quite disinterested and miserable to be honest, which a few of us noticed. They spilt cheese sauce on one of us without much apology and didn't ask how our meal was once. Tried to get attention for another drink but no luck. Maybe an off day but we won't be returning. Much better options, especially at the prices they demand.

Four of us in our party. Mix of starters, all awesome, but standouts were the beef short rib tacos and beef tartare. We were all a bit unadventurous with main course, steaks all round, but they were superb. Each cooked to individual tastes, good size, decent sides. Only thing I didn't like was a fake food hanging in between the kitchen and dining area, that being said, it was pretty unrecognisable from its previous incarnation (a Starbucks) so they have done a good job on the whole.

absolutely couldn’t recommended anything else but edosia, it was my first time visiting and we opted for steaks & the cauliflower steak which swept us of our feet. wine choices are wonderful and the cocktails were a nice ending touch to our meal, a lovely family owned place

Absolutely gorgeous evening at Ededsia. Our server Katie was just a delight, and made us feel right at home. Food was to die for - we had the Tomahawk steak (recommended by Katie ;)), pulled pork bonbons and provoleta. Soooo good!! Died and went to heaven.

Sunday roast on Sunday evening is a great idea. Churros were very fine. Katie was a friendly and very fine host.

We had an amazing experience at Edesia celebrating a friend's hen party. The communication when booking was excellent and on the night everything was perfect. Despite us being a group of 11 on a busy Saturday night, the food was excellent and arrived quickly. The service we received was top notch - huge thank you to our server Arbias for looking after everything. After dinner we stayed for drinks and dancing at Bibesia which was the perfect end to an amazing evening. Thanks to all the staff at Edesia!

the staff in there are incredibly welcoming and friendly. Helped us finding the best spot for my family and 2 kids. Some of us are plant based and their menu is super good! meat eaters were very happy too! definitely coming back! Thanks so much

Just celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary with our family (9 of us in total) at Edesia and had a fantastic time. Couldn't fault the food or the service. Thoroughly recommend this restaurant. Three of us are vegetarians and there was plenty of choice for everyone including the children.

The food in this restaurant is out of this world... The beef tartare, the lamb, the steak... Utterly delicious. The service was good and fast, they took my coat. Genuinely can't fault them in any way.

We were in Bath for just one night with my Omni partner so wanted to try and get somewhere that would suit us both. I saw from another review that there was a few options for starters and mains. When I got there however there were no starters at all that were vegan bar bread and olives. I went for the bread which to be fair was nice but there was no vegan butter and when I asked for olive and balsamic I then had to ask for a plate to put the bread on and then a dish to dip (which never came). I ordered the veggie paella for the main. It was horrendously over cooked and absolutely swimming in oil. I sent it back and was kindly offered an alternative (two main choices) for which I wasn't keen. I ordered a plate of chips in the end because I felt awkward my partner was eating alone. They did offer me a cocktail on the house which was nice. Staff were okay but seemed a bit unknowledgeable about the vegan menu. When I asked if there were any vegan desserts I got handed the menu and told 'have a look'. Did feel isolated as a vegan in there which is a shame as sometimes in Omni places it can feel much more inclusive. My main, chips were compensated which was kind however I wouldn't return. Pros: Bread selection, Nice cocktails Cons: No starters, Awkward vibe, Poor main course

It was a ladies weekend visiting Bath so we popped in without a reservation . We were accommodated immediately and the service emailed excellent from then on. Food was wonderful and our vegan options were good. Chloe was our waitress and was really attentive and chatty. Would definitely go back

Great service by Hanna, food was well prepared and presented and interior has a very quaint and comfy feel. Cutlery and plates all very clean.

Cloth napkins had clearly been left in a damp pile and smelt dank (luckily the ones under the bread seemed fine). Everything was just really quite mediocre and felt like a tourist trap

We stopped in for a very late lunch when we stopped in Bath as a put stop in our journey. Our meal, which was entirely fish based from the small plates section, was really great, good quality, and very fresh. The atmosphere was very relaxed as it was the middle of the day and we got good attentive service from Lucky.

Lovely ambience. Chloe made us feel very welcomed. Ensuring meal was gluten and dairy free. Chloe treating us as people and not a number is so important in this world. Thank you Chloe, enjoy your travels next week.

The service was great and speedy, Lucky my waiter was very attentive. Pankaj, the chef, produced an amazing seafood paella that was spot on and I would definitely recommend.

Lucky's service was the best! On Thursday, I went in for a steak with a cocktail for 20 pounds. Since I can't drink alcohol, I switched to orange juice. I ordered steak at first, but the portion seemed small for me because I was so hungry, so I ordered tacos as well. I ate it, but I was hungry again, so I was looking through the drink menu, and before I knew it, Lucky had given me a dessert menu. Perfect sense. Everything was delicious, and the churros were freshly fried and super delicious! I'm enjoying it happily🤗
