Overly expensive inside area. A haven for gobby drivers doing trailer changes all night. At least the thieves do their best not to wake you while they steal your trucks load.

I stopped here for a cup of coffee and a vegan breakfast to go. I asked three places and these were the responses. The first person laughed at my question when I asked him if they had anything vegan. The person in the second place was very apologetic that they didn't have anything apart from porridge and soup (I did not have the time for either). The person in the third place was almost angry because I asked her if V stood for a vegetarian or vegan! Her response was: "I have no idea" as if I asked the most absurd question in the world. I wondered if this place and the people in it belonged to the 21st century. The only vegan thing I could see was vegan sausage roll from greggs but the queue was long and I did not fancy it at 7 am. I wouldn't stop here even if I wasn't a vegan. It looked expensive and unhealthy. But certainly, don't stop if you are a vegan or if you have any other dietary requirements.

Very under staffed along with cheap awful food at premium prices, Was absolutely disgusting. Can i give no stars?? AVOID

After a great night’s sleep at the travel lodge at the service station we wanted to have breakfast before continuing on our journey to London. Really disappointed that the restaurant wasn’t open. Staff were obviously preparing but a rather vague response that they might open at 7:30 didn’t fill us with confidence so we left. This was at 7:10am. Seemed late to us considering there were a number of people obviously looking for something to eat.

Went to Burgerking at Southwaite as was half way home in our journey yesterday, it was dusgusting. Dirty tables, mess all over floors, staff with long hair not in hairnets, staff with beards uncovered, overflowing bins, rest of food court was clean & tidy. Will think twice before using again.

This is always a good place to stop as it isn’t too massive and there is quite a good variety of eating places. There is now a Greggs but we had coffee and cake in Costa coffee which was just fine. The cake was very tasty and coffee as desired. There is a M&S there so that is handy. The loos took some working out and they could do with a few more hand driers in the ladies. All in all it is an ok place to wet your whistle!

Uncooked mushrooms,runny egg, angry staff member, waited too long to be served with no queue ,only one staff member

We called at MOTO Southhwaite southbound at teatime on August Bank Holiday Sunday - EDC closed (barricaded off by chairs), other outlets had big queues and the toilets are in need of urgent repair/deep cleaning. Overall a grim place to stop and we won't visit again - it's like one of the service stations from the bad old days.

The guy serving the food was having a bad day as he kept on telling everyone. Throwing a tantrum as well as utensils. Finally got served and moved up to get beverages to order coffee. No cutlery and was finally offered plastic knives & forks. Best part of the meal of pie, chips & baked beans was the salt & pepper.

We sadly stopped here for breakfast, bad idea on our part! Full English breakfast consisting of boiled mushrooms, two sausages, bacon, an egg, beans and some very under cooked potato tot things. Definitely NOT a full english. 3 breakfast and coffee were £31.95 they forgot 1 of our coffees which was then brought to the table 20 minutes later stone cold. Staff were flustered by their 3 person que and really didn't look like they wanted to be there. Scary this place even makes money.

We had breakfast in the restaurant at yam the staff were very friendly and served our food nice and hot at our table, coffee was hot and fresh. Having a breakfast before heading off to scotland and a 7 hr drive , it really set us up for the day. We would recommend them very much and if we were to travel again and stay in southwaite, We would have breakfast again.

toilets were clean and that's about the only good thing to say about this place. If you want go where the prices are extortionate, the staff rude and unwelcoming then this is the place to go. If you are prepared to hock a kidney for something to eat or drink then this is it.

Seriously. No baked potatoes at lunchtime. How useless. We were told it would take half an hour. What are they doing. Digging them up.

The food was awful the service pathetic and the staff didn't seem to care at all. The only recommendation I could give fellow travelers, is to avoid the place at all costs.

We ate here on the way home, I wanted sausage beans egg and chips, which was fine the my husband wanted chicken chips and mushy peas. Well the lady started plating up but the horrifying thing was she was replenishing the hot plate at the hot plate so there was mushy peas( which I hate) all over the bucket that the sausages and bacon was in then there were 2 serving ladels, dirty on a plate to the side which she used to put the peas and beans on our plates. Then she wiped the edges of the containers with her apron and the ladels continued to stay on the plate whilst we were there. We saw other people order and get their food with the same ladels, never again just gross.

Stopped overnight 24th November 2017...Went in for breakfast!!!! only 1 person serving with terrible attitude. She used the food tongs to lift the metal lids of the serving dishes!!!! Ordered 2 breakfasts and one with black pudding .....The eggs were disgusting and refused to have them and she had to make fresh..she forgot the black pudding and had to be reminded.. the fried bread was rock hard and inedible . No hot drinks available. Utterly shocking

EDC at Wetherby Services 5th November had chicken and leek pie was totally gorgeous full of flavour the staff were approachable and very cheerful many thanks to all the EDC staff makes a change to see people happy in their work

Stayed at the excellent adjoining Travelodge and went across for breakfast.

Staff is not friendly. Food is awfull. I wouldn't recommend you to stop there at all. We made the mistake not to read the reviews first .

Rápida parada en el camino a casa de vacaciones, y fue rápido! Los inodoros son asquerosas, algunas de las puertas no cerraba y la mayoría de los retretes no funcionaba. Mesas en la zona de comida o no fueron aclaradas, o si claro, muy pegajosa. No parará aquí.

Este es un lugar refrescante con comida básica simple, bien cocinada y sin administradores de comercialización. embellecimientos Es un completo contraste con el lujoso honeypots del Lake District, que me había llevado de desesperantes de encontrar una abundante comida rápida. Me paré en Southwaite esperando conformar un Burger King. Lo que me dieron fue de pollo, patatas fritas y guisantes. Sin salsas, sin estilos de cocina extranjera ningún valor agregado. Sencillo de pollo, patatas fritas y guisantes, el estándar de una cantina buena y a un precio muy razonable. Olvídate de los comentarios de la exigente y parada aquí si quieres una comida simple resuelto, muy por encima de la calidad de la típica comida rápida. Bien hecho, EDC mantenerlo

Yo no soy un gran fan de servicios de la autopista, pero por necesidad y para un viaje muy largo, nos detuvimos aquí para almorzar en EDC. Mucho para nuestra sorpresa, la comida era bastante sabrosa, mi esposa tenía el Katsu Curry y opté y yo fuimos para el pollo picante, que resultó ser bastante aceptable, el lugar no estaba lleno, incluso el servicio fue amable [autoservicio de todos modos!]. Mucho mejor de lo que esperaba.

Paramos en el domingo 21 Servicios southwait agosto a las 7.45am y decidimos comer un desayuno inglés... Qué mala elección fue que!!! Los cubiertos estaban sucios, no había servilletas, las mesas y las sillas estaban sucias. Mi marido tenía el desayuno en su morcilla, pero él no podía la bifurcación en ella porque era tan difícil que era como un puck de hockey! Cuando nos quejamos, no hubo ningún tipo de disculpa, el miembro del personal le preguntan qué más quisiera en lugar de él, para que mi marido dijo que él desea algo comestible!! £21.80! Nunca volveré allí de nuevo!

not the cleanest of services, and this was 7am so can only imagine the state of the place in the afternoon when its a bit busier.service was ridiculously slow on all food and shop areas of the services.prices were disgusting considering the state and quality of the food and drink received, will be driving passed this particular set of services in future.

Didnt have much choice for breakfast on the way to Glazgow from Kent, so stopped on the first services that were open so early. Terrible Full breakfast for £7.99 Each, raw eggs and tomatoes, small portions. Never order coffee there!!!! ours was full with coffee bits in it and tasted more like "coffee drink". There is Costa 5 metres away. Better stay hungry. 2 breakfasts, 2 americanos £21.56!!!!

Food was left out long time and dry.Staff not friendly.Prices rip off.Told them member for aa and showed my card on app and staff member refused to give my 20% discount I was entitled to.Will certainly not return.

9th. July 5.0pm. Having booked in at the Travelodge we went into the Services Complex to find the EDC Restaurant which was advertised on the Travelodge website.EDC was closed but advised that when closed to use the other outlet, over the motorway footbridge.I am disabled and walking that distace is difficult and painful, however `needs must`,we walked across the footbridge. That outlet was also closed. Possibly funny on April 1st.but not that day. There were other outlets ie Burgerking, Greggs and Costa but that was not what we wanted. We ended up eating in our room, food from M&S.I have tried to contact EDC but have not had a reply.Poor Show.

My wife and I had slept at the Travelodge and in the morning headed for the EDC for 'breakfast'. After telling us what we COULD eat, we opted for beans on toast (wife) and bacon and egg roll (me). As we were waiting to be served one of the waitresses was banging on about her kitchen redecoration, moaning and groaning about it - she looked half pissed. The other waitress just kept laughing - we were ignored. Eventually the food was served. Firstly, the bacon was under-cooked as was the egg. The bacon was cold and the egg even colder. It was inedible. My wife took one look at her beans on toast, managed one mouthful, and spat it out. Cold beans, burnt toast - hellish! Beware travellers!

We stopped here for breakfast at 0930 on Sunday 10 July. I asked for English Breakfast (Egg,bacon,sausage, tomato, fried bread and hash brown) and for my wife - a sausage and egg bap. We were told there were no sausages so I asked for them to be replaced with black pudding - they had run out of that too - and I had the last tomato. I finally asked for extra bacon which he served me. Also the sausage and egg bap was changed for a bacon and egg bap - but he started to serve it without the bap until I reminded him.We were not impressed with the service as he did seem very disinterested with what was going on and not making sure that there was adequate food (which was advertised) for the customers.We had no complaint with the food itself - which we did enjoy.

We stayed one night at Travelodge Southwaite and wandered into the services area for something to eat. It was extremely quiet and we were attracted by the pictures of the EDC food (how silly of us to choose that way!) I chose fish n chips my partner chose roast chicken. There was no roast chicken left so he was persuaded to have a chicken burger with veg. Fish looked ok on its arrival, but it was puffed up to look like that and when cut into, there was just a big space of air with a bit of cheap looking fish at the bottom. The chicken was so cremated as to be inedible. We should have demanded a refund there and then but foolishly did not. They certainly couldn't say they were rushed off their feet as there was only one other couple sat there. The lady seemed more interested in mopping the floor than engaging in any conversation about the food. We will never use EDC again, disgusting service and food and prices.

We visited Chievely service on a Saturday evening and weren't expecting much but we were pleasantly surprised . We found Arlos and ordered our food . The staff were pleasant and helpful, the seating area was clean and comfortable , seating in bays , crockery of a high standard ,chunky and rustic and the food was good and by motorway service standards inexpensive . A good experience.

Steamed baked potato full of water, with grated cheese substitute even the black pepper sachets have no flavour! Avoid

Me and two friends decided to eat here around 10am yesterday . It's got to be the worst " full English " breakfast I have ever tasted and the most expensive !We ordered three English breakfasts and two drinks , one of the drinks being a 300ml bottle of fresh orange which came to £2.30. The total cost came to £34.00.I was then directed towards the " condiments " which consisted of knives and forks and salt and pepper .Red and brown sauce was 25p a sachet.To then sit down at a filthy table full of debris from a previously customer .The egg was absolutely trousers i think it had been made the previous day , not to mention the sausage which was rotten .However due to the price I decided to eat the breakfast but would never eat here again . The staff were extremely creepy when serving .The only bonus about the place is WHSmiths which has a wide variety of books and magazines for your road trip

Firstly I'd like to say that all the staff are friendly and helpful. Their knowledge of cooking and serving food is lacking. The family in front of us wanted items needing to be cooked from fresh - this perfectly fine, in fact to be applauded. However we hadn't realised that only one "family" can be served at a time! We waited until they were finally served. We should have realised while watching this that things weren't going to go smoothly. It was so obvious that they didn't have enough chips for two servings however we ordered one lasagne and one fried egg, beans and chips. The lasagne was duly served with chips on the side. We were then advised that they had to cook more chips - OK. The server then proceeded to put the beans on the plate and the egg on the griddle. We were asked to go and pay and they'd bring it over when ready. The lasagne was acceptable however the beans were cold, the egg was totally hard, no sign that the yolk had ever been liquid. The chips were hot and freshly cooked. Wouldn't say we'd never go back but might have to point out timings to the staff!

Doughnut tasted 3 days old, no excuse for that. Hot chocolate too sweet and not hot enough. Cuppa tea ok but you can't really go too wrong there. Don't bother.

Possibly the worst food we have ever had. Full English Breakfast plus 2 latte = £22.06, what a rip off.It was completely inedible and the staff don't seem to notice or care.Just keep driving until you get to Westmorland at Tebay.

I had a perfectly pleasant cod, chips & peas at under £5. Cooked to order & a reasonable size. At a motorway services I think that very good value, plus the staff were a delight. They seriously went the extra mile. Impressed

So it appears that staff do not understand how to add a discount from a moto app, after 10 mins of struggling With the discount and no manager on site I decided to pay full price, whats the point in having a moto app if it's not trained to the staff!!!!!! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr £6 extra.

my kids wanted a burger king which is very expensive and i went to the E.D.C, and got half small chicken salad and a large baked potatoe for £5.99 tasted great smilely staff would reccomend this rather than bk any day.

Went in for breakfast joined the queue just one person serving and doing everything else. Waited about 15 min then gave up and went over to Costa. Just one person doing everything is ridiculous

The food was advertised as freshly cooked , it was nearly cold , my partner had an English breakfast the best thing on the plate was inedible, the black pudding was harder than the plate the meal came on . I had a sausage sandwich it too was only just warm. I will never eat there again . Even though I go past 4 to 10 times a year.

Sorry, typical roadside cafe mentality, poor quality expensive food and drink. Costa - small latte £3.80. Swerve if you can Although the staff were friendly.

Stopped into EDC at Tamworth with my old Mum who I helped into the EDC as she was lured in by the posters. On nearing the counter the server stepped round and complimented her on her hand knit cardigan, the old girl was on cloud nine. We both had pie and chips, and while not special they were perfectly edible and at a fiver a pop not expensive. A Gregs pasty is three quid and a Starbucks smoothie over four.Filled a gap, great service from at least one lady. (Marjorie / Maureen ?). I'll go back

Decided to give the expensive hotel breakfast a miss and grab a quick breakfast at EDC at Wetherby Services instead. Went for the bacon bap at £2.99 x 2. We were told that there was no bacon ready at the time, but it would be ready in 5 minutes. We said ok and gave instructions for butter and sauce. Fair enough, five minutes later two bread baps turned up with undercooked bacon in two bare baps devoid of butter and/ or sauce!! We repeated our previous request for brown sauce and butter and the aforesaid bap was taken away and squirted with the previously requested HP and one, yes one small oblong of frozen butter which I offered to share with my wife, but she declined bless her. Verdict............. Must try harder!

Really pleased we only paid £4.99 each as the pie and chips were very very average in taste. The Service was rubbish too.

As much as i admire companies that employ people on probation i cant help but think its not the best idea to put such rude, bad mannered individuals to searve the public especially when those employees clearly dont want to be there in the first place! The attitude of staff was dispicable and quite honestly ruined our breakie whilst on route to a close family members funeral! Avoid EDC at Leigh delamere at all costs!!!!

Knutsford services on M6. Seemed a reasonable place to stop for a coffee and bacon roll but I can only describe the experience as truly awful and down mainly to a total lack of management, training and care. Everything that was bad about catering in the UK in the 1970's can be experienced here first hand. Maybe that's the point. A retro stop to show the kids the bilge that we had to endure. Go on, treat them to a day out they will never forget, assuming you have an hour to waste to get served.

Asked for cooked breakfast, no choices of what they were made up off, some food unavailable as they had run out at 11.00!! Food was dry, cold and tasteless. Staff were unfriendly and rude. Cost was very expensive. Ended up leaving the breakfast and buying sandwiches from Marks and Spencer's .Would not recommend this part of the service station to anyone. Will not stay again.

Truly horrible. I had Teriyaki Chicken, my son, sweet and sour chicken. Both were unpleasant. The teriyaki tasted liked it had been boiled in Bisto with some unidentifiable scrapings of an unpalatable root vegetable thrown in. The sweet and sour chicken turned out to be sweet and sour water chestnut. With a homeopathic dose of chicken. Portions are tiny. Nine parts rice to one part of yukky stuff. Maybe that's a good thing. Their rice is lumpy but edible.

£8 for an english breakfast. Uncooked tomatoes, broken fried eggs, cold beans.... And then get to checkout and get asked to pay 25p for a sauce sachet.... EDC anywhere now on the "not even if I am starving" list of places.

Eat elsewhere, bring sandwiches or eat the grass outside but under no circumstances eat here. We ordered the Chicken, Chips and Peas but sent them back as the chicken was dry and crispy from sitting in the food warmer for an excessive amount of time. The chips were underdone oven chips, the fresh peas were tinned and the gravy was packet.When we sat down and tried to eat the chicken we found it impossible to chew, it was so dry and overcooked.My wife immediately took it back, and complained, ordering pie,chips, peas and gravy instead,which was brought to our table as soon as it was ready. This meal was at least edible and we quickly finished.I went to the counter to point out that the price for the Chicken was £5.99 whereas the price for the Pie was £4.99 and requested the difference.It was here that I noticed that not once was there an apology for the appalling state of the chicken, in fact there was no remorse for the shoddy and inadequate service that had been offered.This place deserves the lowest marks possible and I urge Tripadvisor to consider a minus point system to accommodate places such as this.Avoid this place like the plague, there are better places onsite.

As bad as it gets. Ordered full english brekfast, they dont do it as its too late despite a menu saying its all day breakfast. Got pie and chips instead. Charged me more that I needed to pay, refunded the differnce when I objected. Microwaved old pie. Bleught! Should have gone to burger king

Pulling off the M6 on the 3rd AUGUST, we had a Ramsay moment . At the EDC section of the Southwaite Services, it left us feeling appalled at the fact that this place to is open. It was grubby, lacklustre, uninviting, and shambolic. The staff were quite untrained in service, casual, bordering on rude, We asked for a 'pie' and as it turned out, even this simple order was complicated. We were not offered beans OR peas with the poor imitation of a crusty puff party soggily lying on top of the salty artificial filling on perhaps re-constituted meat lumps. There were no trays i either of the tray racks, the 'meal' was perhaps a copy of the first meals in space for the moon landings, or surplus to the space station some years back. Tea or coffee was one size fits all, large mugs only, which one had to fetch oneself from across the serving area. These 'drinks' were some £2.35 for tea and.coffee. The meal was £5.99, with confusing pricing between special deal and run of the mill servings. The serving lady was unintelligible, sullen and virtually counted out the chips for each serving.. The aged chips were mixed with aging pieces of fish shifted from another tray on the hot counter. The promotional photograph showed a picture of an almost appetising meal of immaculately presented portions, fresh and colourful. What landed in our hands, due to no trays being available, was semi dehydrated gash and not fit for man nor beast, nor inanimate object. So disorganised was the EDC area that we could not think of searching for someone to complain to, so we muttered ourselves to some seats and a wee table, and used the food, in the loosest manner, as mere fuel, but resolved never to use the Southwaite service area again.

Called at this dreadful shanty town (the only way I can describe it) Saturday morning, for breakfast, on the way to Willerby, nr. Hull, knowing it's the last outpost of civilization on the M62 eastbound (the Little Chef at South Cave closed a couple of years ago.) I have to admit to not having travelled to the far east since the early nineties and I was confused as to where the exit ramp actually was - last time I used the place I seem to remember it being off the M62 on or near a roundabout, and assumed it was at the M62/A1 Northbound junction. It isn't - as I found out after turning off the M62 and found myself on the A1 Southbound. Travelled a mile or so to the nearest exit and turned around Northbound, heading North. Missed the turnoff due to lousy signposting with little warning, so ended up turning off the A1 North back onto the M62 Westbound.... turned around at the Xscape exit and finally got back on course - staying on the M62 as we should have done in the first place. The atmosphere in the car was getting pretty hot by this time, with my use of colourful language pondering why on earth there isn't some sort of signposting warning of the approach to the services on the M62 Eastbound. A mile or so down the road we finally turned into the place - almost overshot the car park entrance (lousy signposting again) and it then became clear why they haven't bothered directing people to it... IT'S A DUMP!Last time I used it (going back a few years now, I admit,) it was a Granada eatery - with options of a proper meal and some decent seating. Now... it's a ramshackle collection of costa packet and grotty burger king etc., outlets - the seating is so uncomfortable you really wouldn't want to stay more than 5 minutes or so. The absence of any queues anywhere should have warned us - but as I say, we were on our way to a wedding near Hull, had not eaten breakfast, we needed to eat and breakfast at the hotel would have finished by the time we got there, so had no choice.We opted for the Burger King 'Breakfast Special'... a grotty half warmed - up cheeseburger that looked like it had been sitting there from the night before, with a small half rasher of bacon added as an afterthought. Good job we ordered hash browns (well, that's what they were described as) because the burger was inedible: rubbery, the cheese stone cold, the burger itself not much hotter and I pulled the 'bacon' out, to avoid getting food poisoning. I could have topped my car battery up with the coffee, it was that bitter. The 'service' was, at best, indifferent - with the look on the assistant's face that simply says "Don't bother complaining; I've heard it all before and frankly I don't give a flying..." We paid over a tenner for that.The gents toilets weren't very clean, and according to my wife, the ladies' were disgusting, with the WC push button in the one she went to, hanging off the wall.There is a Greggs in another one of the shacks - a sausage roll eaten in the car would have been a better bet. If I have to leave a bad review about a place, I usually end with some constructive advice about what I think the management should do, to put things right. So here it is:1) Sack every one of the useless staff there.2) Hire a bulldozer, level the site and fill it with wind turbines: they are just about as useful.

My wife ordered a toasty when the assistant brought it it wasn't toasted i asked the assistant to take it away and toast it she brought it back still untoasted.Me and my wife decided that she did not not know what toast was or she was just being nasty i think it was the later one.I will recomend to people never to use an EDC cafe very very poor standards

Visited Ferrybridge services - what a disgusting experience. The operative was extremly offensive and the food diabolical, we even questioned if it was real. All ended up in the bin - BUYER BEWARE!!! And you are expected to pay for it!!!

.. stopped off at the EDC Reading on a return journey from London recently - filthy teapot - complained - not a clean one to offer - had to go into kitchen to get a replacement - cream pot filthy - changed - and tray absolutely disgraceful. Heath and Safety have a field day here - staff seemingly not give a dam.

Horrible dried roast chicken. Didn't even seem like chicken. Blah chips. Bleh sausages. Top prices! Don't bother. Buy a sandwich instead.

Stopped here on way to Scotland. Saw meal deal for 4.99 me and my wife chose to get this. Sandwich, drink and crisps. When going to the till we were told water wasnt included in the meal deal. So we swapped for fanta. they then tried to charge us £14.98 I complained that was incorrect the cashier huffed and told me I would need to swap dr pepper as it also wasn't in the offer. No advertisements said which drinks were and weren't included. Poor service and drab atmosphere will not be using again

Stopped off for a food and drink break at Woolley Edge services, Costa and Burger King were acceptable but EDC was dreadful - the food, the service and the prices. This isn't the first one we've been to and they have all been dire. I have had to give a one star rating to be able to submit the review but really wouldn't rate it at all.

At the time we called in the cafe was staffed by two friendly helpful ladies. Unfortunately, the service was slow and a bit shambolic. The food was just about OK but nothing to shout about. I remember they had some sort of meal deal on at £4.99 which is good for a motorway service area. This place needs a good refurbishment with updating of the equipment and more staff. Not quite a 'never again' place but not far off.

Traveling from Scotland to Yorkshire, we stopped off for a break ! Never again! We will take a flask and sandwiches the next time! The cafe have the attitude that visitors are a captured market! Extortionate price for so called food and drab and dreary atmosphere! Open plan , food hall type atmosphere. Reminded me of a school kitchen and I am 61!Even though this was dinner time 1:05 pm, the place was deserted.Soup was too spicy and thick . Steak pie should have been gravy pie ...little steak .Cakes were dry.Staff were multi tasking serving food ,checking tills then cleaning bins . But no one was cleaning tables and they were grubby even though it was quiet.We need to make the repeat journey soon and picnic is in order definitely .
