Went to the Golders green restaurant,( the one next to the shop) the woman sitting people down was very rude and unpleasant. That put us off do we decided to go the the other restaurant around the corner. The waitress lady with mask and glasses was the most pleasant thing at that restaurant she was very informative and friendly . Food very bland and lack of any flavor. Would not visit again or recommend to anyone

We came to G2 for Shabu shabu and it’s really disappointing. There are not too many choice from the menu and not tasty at all. On Google review, it said opening time is from 11:30am to 10.30pm. But it closed at 3pm for lunch. We arrived around 1:40pm with 5 people including a 4 year kid. The time is quite rush to complete the hot pot within 1 hour.

The exterior and interior look just like Japan! It was quite large but crowded. All the staff seemed to be Asian. There didn't seem to be any Japanese staff. There are all kinds of Japanese food on the menu, There are so many menu items! Sushi, rice bowls, pork cutlets, curry, etc. I've been craving sushi lately so I can't help it. I ordered a sushi set. That said, I didn't expect much In fact, it was delicious! I thoroughly enjoyed it. I think this is cheap at £12. My husband and daughter chose tonkotsu ramen. Apparently this was also delicious. Japanese food at affordable prices I'm so happy to have found a restaurant where I can enjoy it so easily! ! It seems like it's a chain store, so there seem to be a lot of stores. I have a feeling that I will use it regularly♪ If you miss Japanese food in London, please come visit.

One of my go-to spots, offering affordable meals with decent taste. There’s another location just a minute away under the same owner, but with slight menu differences. I usually come to this one, but recently discovered the other offers a bento with foie gras fried rice, pear, egg rolls, and black cod—hitting all my favorite flavors. Both are worth trying!

Average Japanese restaurant, not amazing, not terrible, but value for money. However, must be inflation, the portion has gone down and the quality was not as good as it used to be. In particular, the tuna used in the sushi roll was Dark Grey. Will I come back? Yes, only because it is cheap and a quick eat. Would I come for special occasions? No.

Quick order service, very authentic and fresh Japanese food with loads of options to choose from. The wasabi was one of the best & strongest I've ever had, their sushis are under £3-4, miso soup is complimentary and the croquettes in their bento box were crispy & nicely cooked. Couldn't recommend enough :)

We ordered sushi and it was really tasty. You can definitely recommend it. But I still have to deduct a star because I find it a bit cheeky that an additional 10% tip is added to the bill. This is always on every page of the menu, but I still find this approach a bit cheeky. We also didn't think it was that cheap. In the end we paid €50 for everything and it wasn't particularly well presented.

Nothing is fresh at this restaurant compared to the other Eat Tokyo in the city. This is the worst, without a doubt. Ordering food that couldn't be eaten and looked expired. The staff seemed angry that I couldn't eat what I ordered, as if it were my fault. You cannot force people to eat expired food. The bad experience of feeling uncomfortable because of the atmosphere after that is that I would never return nor would I recommend.

A superb dine experience, came in as group of 9. Recommended authentic Japanese taste, the food is undoubtedly 5*! Also a highlight, customer service is amazing and beyond satisfactory — they are very swift to attend your needs — upon entering the door they would assist you find table, take your order timely and served your food without waiting! [not even more than 15mins we sat and the food was served despite of full house] Went around 20:00H, the place was full and crowded. Only that, 3* for the “atmosphere” as the place offer very limited seats and cramped space. P.S. the menu is as thick as a book so I wasn’t able to take photos.

We have been dining with Eat Tokyo for long time at both branches in Golder Green. Recently at this branch for the last several visit since last year, has changed a lot. Service there like a robot, no human working. No greeting , no conversation, Rushing you to leave and they always don't take reservation. we noticed that the food portion sometime more sometime less of the same item. We just feel like don't want to here any more the other branch was better food, service eventhough they serve the same foods apart from hot pot, sometime you got icy meat sometime the meat colour different ,darker and they blame on us that you order just normal meat!! (we normally order but colour look fresher). The Manager can not face the customer directly. Shame.

Been on my list for a while, and I can say its worth it. Quality of ingredients is high, and despite a very traditional system to request more, staff come to you frequently so you can order more. For context you will have a starting order, then you can order more as you go when staff are about / when you need. They were pretty quick and you didn't have to wait long much for most things. Unlimited sauce as well, ponzu, sesame, and some chilli/radish I cant recall. Meat and shrimp quality was good, yeah it's thin cut, but good marbling and unlimited anyways. Sushi roll was pretty good, but the rest of the sushi are just ok, but thats expected for the price range and the shabu shabu is the main star anyways. You will have to pay extra for different broths. (£6 for half and half) for table so not bad really. Service is best out of all the eat tokyo's in london I've visited. Timing wise I think it's more than enough and theres a good selection of ingredients to choose from. It can and will get busy but don't let that put you off, truly great experience.

The unlimited shabu-shabu was the worst meal I’ve had in London. Awful selection of meats to begin with. When the beef arrived at the table, it was paper thin and incredibly dry—almost like ham? Once cooked, it’s completely inedible as the meat is tough and chewy, indicating very bad quality meat. The sushi is not much better: Only rolls are included and it is quite shocking how poorly they’re made. Oh, and no dipping sauce for the meat (besides soy sauce) was given. Laughable when compared to any other proper shabu-shabu place. I feel bad because the service was excellent.. but the food was just immensely awful. Oh, and the toilets were absolutely rank—do NOT use them. It was like a flood down there and it looked like it hadn’t been cleaned for a while.

Tried the all you can eat shabu shabu today, and I did not recommend it at all. We were served with the starter plate - a mixture of vegetables and seafood. We also ordered the sushi (which doesn’t taste good as their usual sushi in other Eat Tokyo branches) and a small salmon rice on top. I have finished the rice with a teaspoon of rice left and the waiter refused to take away our finished rice, shouted “why” and demanded us to finish the last bite and then they unwillingly took it away. The waiters were kept staring to see how we are in progress with the starter plate and rushed us to leave when the time is up. Felt like we were put under surveillance and they are very eager to charge us extra even with the untouched wasabi left in the bowl. The beef and pork was mediocre at best, the seafood wasn’t fresh as well but yeah 27 quid each for a 2 hr hotpot was okay, the staff needs a bit of training and treat your customers better. Almost wanted to ask to waive the service charge as the customer service was beyond par.

My first ever 1 star review. We went for £27 shabu shabu, this honestly my worst one in my life. Really low quality of food, the pictures of the menu is very misleading, you will only get really cheap beef, pork and sushi, the prawns were mushy, crab sticks were tasteless, we left after 45 mins and we had 60% of food untouched. By the way, soup base you have to pay on top, it taste like water, let alone the dipping, I paid 50p on top for spicy sauce, I’m pretty sure it’s mixed with ketchup. No one even bothered to ask “how was it” so if you go for that, good luck.

Found through Tik Tok, such a lovely little gem. Staff are so attentive & kind, could not fault them one bit. We did the Shabu Shabu for £27 pp, however this doesn’t actually include the broth (which is hilarious because that’s the entire dish), so for half and half it was £7 extra. They also have 6 sushi roll options however you are only allowed 1 per table, again not too sure why? Everything came out very quickly and they topped up the broths multiple times throughout the meal. We did not feel rushed at all & were able to order multiple times of extra items. Partner ordered the brown sugar milk tea which was great and tasted unreal. Menu isn’t as extensive other hot pot places but their a la carte menu looked huge! They offer bento boxes, ramen etc which looked great too! Would definitely visit again.

This is a pretty good Japanese restaurant. Their food is mostly good - my favourites are the bentos (especially the eel and sushi one). The service is normally quite good. There are normally queues for dinner at both Eat Tokyos in Golders Green, the other one is normally faster as they don’t have hotpot. My only complaint is the all you can eat hotpot. For the price, you only get a limited choice of food, which is generally low quality. The rice with salmon on top is a scam. Soup base is not free! And don’t forget about the service charge. It’s not generally worth the price.

Today I stopped in for a very brief lunch, and I'm sorry I did. When I asked for a table after entering in, the manager in charge responded, "You have to order right now," with a grumpy face, rather than greeting me or even saying hello. I work in hospitality too, but if I treated my guests like this, I would be fired right away. After ordering my food, which was average only (the ramen was extremely bland and the tempura prawn looked very artificial, like the one you can buy frozen anywhere), all I saw was the same "welcoming" manager passing by, checking his watch and then measuring how much food I had left. Eventually, I made the decision to get my ramen for takeaway. The kind staff brought me up two boxes. Alright, I got the message, I'll pack this myself. Let me tell you something, it's difficult to pack a full portion of ramen without creating a big mess. And after all of this, they had the courage to expect me to pay a service charge. We have now visited this location three times in the last year, and each time has been worse than the last. What a waste of money. This establishment used to be fantastic when Lisa was the general manager; they had friendly staff, smiling faces, no pressure, and delicious food. Try the Eat Tokyo location across from the station if you'd like; the cuisine is much excellent and everyone is friendly.

We came here for the all you can eat buffet, made the reservation a day ahead and was reminded with their dining hours, totally understandable on that. However, we are slightly disappointed with the food as the selections are limited, shabu shabu has only 2 options of meat to be selected. The shabu shabu also does not come with any flavours, if you wanted to have different flavour of soup base you need to pay. They even charge on requesting extra wasabi. Our first order of sushi does not have a decent portion of wasabi so we asked for more, the lady mentioned to us that you will get it with your sushi, she will charge us if we requested for more wasabi the second round. Lucky enough she gave us free on the first request of wasabi. We felt very disappointed at the services. We ordered 5 portion of beef and when it arrived on our table, we asked if the beef was 5 portion, the waitress went to reply us that is only 3 portion and wanted us to finish it before she gave us the rest of the orders. We also felt unwelcomed to order food, remember we went for "All You Can Eat". It's so hard to get the attention of the staffs as they were all not nearby the dining tables, food take awhile to be served too. Most importantly, the atmosphere gave us the feeling of that it is wrong if we keep ordering for more...

I saw this restaurant on instagram for their all-you-can-eat buffet (27£) and decided to give it a try. Well for starters, since it’s an all you can eat buffet, I thought there would be a wider variety of food but was disappointed with the limited choices. Honestly the service was pretty slow because when I first ordered, everything came out gradually and when we ordered the second and third time, it took quite some time for things to be served which I found unusual since it’s literally raw ingredients for shabu shabu. Also, whenever we wanted to order, it took some time for me to get the waiter’s attention as our table was at the far end corner but to be honest, someone should’ve been on standby since it wasn’t a busy crowd. For the food, I didn’t expect much since it’s a buffet so I don’t have much complaints about that other than the pork being tough - I would suggest not to order it.

Though the restaurant decor was decent here, the customer service was sadly the opposite and the same applied for the food. Yaki Soba was a small portion and the salmon fish in the W Shioyaki Bento box, which is a regular dish we ordered at the other Eat Tokyo branch further down the road, was not grilled at all per the menu description. It was boiled instead. As far as the customer service goes, the waiting staff were rather unapproachable and unfriendly. It felt as though we had stepped into Soho's Chinatown when requesting something with politeness and received a slam on the table in response. A rather disappointing experience overall and putting this next to the Eat Tokyo branch further down in Golders Green North End Road, there is no competition between these two. You suddenly wonder why the G2 branch is rarely as busy. Better off visiting the other branch nearby as their food quality and prices are far more reasonable and you have friendlier staff who do their best to accommodate customers during the busiest hours.

I know this place few years ago. It was good. That is why I want to come back to try the hotpot which we never try here before. But I’m not happy with the service. The food is normal, the price is fair. We order four salmon rice bowl at beginning. After we finish it. We was asked for finish two of them to get another one. Why my friend need to wait me to finish my dish then order another one? To save your company profit? The service is changed here. I’m not happy.

Exceptional Japanese food in a casual bar atmosphere. Been coming for years and it's consistently good.

Great food. Shabu shabu is fantastic just like in Tokyo! Tonkotsu ramen are also fantastic and gyoza are exceptional. Well done!

TLDR: Watch out for their timekeeping despite the decent food and good price. We’ve ordered Shabu Shabu for 4 people. The food was decent, and the price was reasonable. The service was also very efficient while the waiters and waitresses were attentive in general. The environment was not too bad but rather crowded, especially we’re seated near the kitchen. However, the timekeeping was disastrous (for a 2-hour all-you-can-go session). Everything was ruined when a lady claimed that time was up and needed to take all our food back from the table. We, in fact, had the food for just 1.5 hours by the time she came to us (at 8pm). And, the most interesting part was, she could accurately recall we started at 6:30pm. She only realised she made a mistake when I showed her my watch saying that it’s only 90 minutes since we started. She didn’t apologise and simply walked away after saying a few words and acknowledging my argument. I lost my entire mood to eat in the rest of 30 minutes. I also didn’t hear anything further before we left the restaurant. I understand this is important to maximise table turn from a business standpoint, especially on a Friday evening. Yet, this is imperative that customer experience should always be on top of the operator’s mind. This restaurant unfortunately failed to put their customers first. In short, I wouldn’t come back again even if there aren’t any other choices. Hopefully other customers would be mindful how they manage the tables/time if considering to visit (and order Shabu Shabu). Note that "word-of-mouth" is one of the most powerful (influential) marketing tools - whether it's about a positive or negative experience. Good luck!

Well, we've been here many times over the years and, unfortunately, this occasion was possibly our last visit. The food was just not as good as other Japanese restaurants that we have been to, and we've been to quite a lot of them in London because we generally like the cuisine. I think the chefs need to revise how they cook people's food. I really felt like they served me an awful meal because they may have thought, "don't worry, he's not Japanese, he won't notice that it's not quite right". Well, I did notice everything wrong with my meal, and I will take my money and family to a place that I regard as far better. My daughter, and my partner didn't like it either. 3 out of 4 of us were not happy. That's 75% failure on your part. The staff are generally very good, helpful and happy to help. And the atmosphere is lovely and authentically Japanese. But we won't be coming again because the food, the reason we came there, is just not good enough.

Food was delivered within 10 minutes of ordering but they got 1 item wrong. Food was great, and the portion sizes were appropriate. I ordered the Chicken Teriyaki Bento and the Prawn Tempura Sushi, which were both amazing.

We had the all you can eat shabu shabu. It's a fairly reasonable price for hotpot, but the food is not worth coming all the way here. Pros: Service was fast Soup base is delicious Sushi rolls included in the meal is decent Good quality prawns All vegetables, especially shitake mushrooms, are very fresh Cons The beef and pork are fresh, but not tender. The quality wasn't very consistent either. One plate of pork was so tough that we stopped ordering pork altogether. This is a bit disappointing as meat quality is the most crucial part of shabu shabu. The salmon don included in the meal barely has any salmon Conclusion: if you happen to be around the area and fancy some hotpot, it has good value for money. But don't expect Japanese gourmet.

Too expensive and not much value. Hygiene is a bit concerning. Just shabu with tea for one person and it's over £46.

We were attracted by the lovely display of fresh produce in the window and decided to order juices to take away. We were taking our time deciding what we wanted and they never rushed us, they were so friendly. They made the juices in front of us, we could see how good and fresh all the fruit and veg were. The staff was chatty and lovely. When they handed us our order they were just so nice, saying they hope we enjoy and wishing us a good day etc. The juices were absolute top quality. Will definitely return and recommend!
