Eastern Promise in Gateshead

Such a shame this used to be much better, the food is average - poor. Popadoms cooked in old oil really nasty taste. £1 for tiny portion of onion salad ( I mean tiny 2 teaspoons). I will be asking local food standards to check out their kitchen hygiene, I ended up throwing away my order because my starter was so bad I didn’t want to risk anything else.

We were regular customers when raj owned it but only been twice since new owners took! Kebab meat was dry, chips undercooked and pizza base was still doughy. Portions are way smaller now! Quality has went downhill. I have left this review on here as they keep deleting off there own website. So if you leave a bad review they will remove it. Just a heads up when ordering

Delivery around an hour (!) late but oh, sooooo tasty. It's a cliché but totally worth waiting for.

Food was absolutely beautiful. This is our first choice of take away every time. wev tried different stuff on each order and can honestly say nothing has ever been a disappointment. So tasty. I'd certinally reccomend to everyone.

Food was lovely more of observation , the chicken tikka masala was very spicy, although it was enjoyable it definitely wasn’t something I’ve tasted before and the minted yogurt sauce is meant to be yellow and sweet this one we ordered was very spicy and wasn’t Enjoyable at all I ordered 6 and they all went in the bin due to not being able to stand the spicy ness as it was overpowering , I do understand that every chef has there ways on cooking and preparing food however I’d definitely be considering the change in the minted yogurt sauce and the tika masala sauce as they are meant to be sweet but very overpowering with spices! Such a shame as this this was the first time ordering everything else was lovely I’d order again but just not the tika masala

Ordered a chicken vindaloo pizza and it came with a tomato base...

Over 2 hours late still havent got my food and wont return my money until they feel like it !!! Absolutly diabolical management service .. leaves family starving and no alternative so sort the situation! Thanks

Had a Tandoori Mixed Grill and and a Sri Lankan Chicken curry. Both very tasty and fresh. Highly recommended.

Ordered 6:30 arrived 8:55 , no apologies, applied for money back and was ignored, I normally love this place but was disappointed with how I was treated. All could of been solved with an apology of any sort. I will not order again.

Always usually have hangover box from here as it’s fab but last night I tried chicken curry and beef madras with egg pilau rice and nan bread. It was heavenly and Definatly my new go too place for a curry. Never keen on rice but loved their egg pilau rice. Was all lovely

This is the se old time we've ordered, rang at 6.15 on a Saturday, guy said it would be with us within the hour, which is far, it's only 5 minutes up the road. Food arrived at 8.30! And that was after I called to ask where it was. Food was good, plenty, and good flavour, but service very poor.

Part of my order was garlic mushrooms on puree and to the restaurant's credit they rang and said they didn't have any and was there anything else I would like, so I ordered king prawns on puree instead, emphasis on KING prawns. The puree arrived with the smallest prawns I'd ever seen. Also just regular chips came with the order when I ordered 'roasty' chips, I wouldn't normally mind but I LOVE the roasty chips from an Indian restaurant. Everything else was great, as it usually is with this particular restaurant.

Ordered from Eastern Promise while staying in the area on holiday. Had the Happy Hour special and really enjoyed. Great value for money with huge portions. Tikka rice is amazing.

I ordered at 6 pm for a 7-40 delivery and received my order at 8-30 disgrace. The meal was the worst I have had nothing but chili powder to hot to eat, Very poor

Pizza was nice but was just averagely warm and I like my food piping hot, is a few mile away though so that's understandable

ORDERED LAST WEEK FOOD WAS WELL OVER AN HOUR LATE AND FREEZING COLD ORDERED TODAY FOOD WAS 40 minutes late chips soggy garlic bread with cheese had the smallest amount of cheese and dry as sticks but the madras and korma were nice and hot and lovely as usual I'll probably order once more and if it's still s late and as cold I'll go elsewhere usually spot on

Just shy of 2 hours late! No call from restaurant to say they were busy and it would be a while, nothing! I called several times to discuss the delivery time to be told each time it would be with me any minute. About two hours late, close to 10pm on a Sunday there's a knock on the door.. the delivery driver just gave me the food and ran off into the car!? Curries were luke warm and pizza was stone cold. 30 quids worth of food went in the bin last night hope your proud!?

Lovely food. Only problem that the Purée bread was missing from Garlic Mushroom on puree.

Paid for a bottle of pop which never came so rang them up and was told they would send it straight up waited over 45 mins for it and tried ringing them and there was no answer! The pop never arrived! Absolute joke of a service and will be putting a complaint in to just eat and will be on the phone tomorrow as i want what i have paid for!!! Won't be ordering again absolute jokers.

Kebab wrap was full of gristle. Ordered chips, got peri peri chips. Madras pizza was really really cheesy and was luke warm.

Hideous substandard muck, a freezing cold pizza thick with hard cheese, lacking pepperoni and with the texture of a Frisbee, the kebab was a soggy mash of undercooked pitta bread and tasteless meat drowned in a cheap and watery chilli sauce. Waste of money Never again. AVOID

I thought I had a bag of rocks not roasties they were solid they had hardly been cooked the nan bread looked like a dough pizza base just no effort at all won't be eating from there again

55 mins late and not even a sorry from the delivery driver. Due to turn up at 21:35. Didn't arrive until 22:30. Food was hot when it arrived and tasted fine but not as a good as other places I've been to.

Half of my order was missing and then when I received all of it, my partner nearly choked on a chicken bone that was in his pizza!! Disgusting!

Worth the wait. Spot on kebab and salad everytime. Did leave out the yogert mint sauce again but other than that spot on!

The only thing I can fault. However they did forget my yogert dip and onion salad but it wasn't the end of the world.

Food was ok, would have liked a lot more salad with my kebab. Was quite a small portion compared to other places I've ordered from. The menu also said it's all breast meat but it didn't all look like breast meat. Was tasty though.

Food took two hours to come, cant complain about the quality of food tho it was very good. But is it worth waiting two hours for??

I ordered the same meal I ordered 3 days ago. I am sorry to say that this was poor. It appears there is no consistency in there meals. Kebab meat was greasy and the spicy chicken was anything but the salad was mostly cabbage next to no lettuce and 1 slice wacky of tomato and cucumber. Got to do better.

Only one criticism.... there is no option to order tubs of chilli and garlic sauces so asked for them in the comments box and was willing to pay for them at the door but no sauces came !! Other than that great tasty food

Waited much longer than stated and good was cold

Food was amazing, so tasty and excellent value for money but they forgot to deliver my popadoms. Items missing from orders are mine and probably most people's lost annoying takeaway mistakes. Meal is incomplete without them.

I am very disappointed in my whole eastern promise expirience after waiting 1 hour 40 minutes for my food to receive an awful chicken tikka that was bland with no taste my poppadoms were all broken and the apparant chicken kiev that was mostly mushrooms I used to really enjoy eastern promise :(

Food due at 20:45 Didnt arrive until 21:20 so 35 mins late. Sadly not half as nice as the 1st order chips very bland and tasteless (felt microwaved) Overall very bland meals and late Havnt bothered ringing the shop, dont intend to but waste of £20 in my eyes

Food is nice (if you manage to receive it all) but the service is ridiculously bad and not worth it. Ordered twice and had bother both times, won't be ordering again

Was recommended this place. Bit apprehensive as haven't eaten from here before but we weren't disappointed. Beautiful meal. Delivery was a bit slow but well worth the wait.
