Lovely New Years eve meal with our friends up from Essex. The Manageress was amazing and also the young waitress. We had a meal at 3pm and it.was perfect x

Arrived to eat food told would be at least 45 to 60 mins wait so didn't stay had just heard a mighty crash and bangs from kitchen which obviously was rhe issue here

Family get together with a buffet style meal - amazing starters & lovely mains. Staff very attentive with drinks etc & make you feel very relaxed. Beautifully decorated & clean.

Christmas market wass fab local people with their own unique products. Lovely atmosphere, weather was good nice seeing kids eating hot dogs and burgers and mulled wine on tap. Well Done

Better than it used to be- overpriced for what it is now

I visited the Eagle and Child about two weeks ago with my family for our Sunday dinner. The pub itself has undergone a massive refurbishment and the outside area has also been improved. There's a large car park and allocated spaces near to the entrances for customers with disabilities. As a patron in a vehicle, you have to enter your registration number at the bar as there is a fine system in operation to avoid non guests from parking on site. The inside of the bar is nicely decorated and has kept a lot of the features of the old coach house dating back to C1839. The restaurant was busy on the Sunday evening we visited and I would recommend a reservation to ensure your dining experience. Once seated at our table, we were given menus and our waiter, Matt took our orders. The floor staff were very attentive without being overbearing and our food arrived quickly. The Sunday menu was mainly Roast dinner and although it wasn't going to be my first choice, my god, it didn't disappoint. Unlike the queue up and load up style of carveries in a lot of pubs these days, this was excellent. Presented on a large plate, piping hot, with plenty of meat, vegetables and Yorkshire pudding, oh, and a separate board of side dishes including cauliflower cheese and gravy. The meal was a great combination of flavours. I don't normally go for a sweet course after a large dinner, but on this occasion, I decided to push the boat out. Once again, I demolished the plate and thoroughly enjoyed it. The pub was great, the staff were great and the food was great but don't take my word for it, book a table for yourself and give it a go. Por Daniel y el personal. La comida y el servicio era fantástico. El niño de 5 años con nosotros tenía la pasta de tomate y comió casi todo. (Por lo general sólo come unas cuantas cucharas.) El personal era excelente para nosotros, teníamos 2 menores de 9 años que les encanta interactuar con la gente y los llamaban por su nombre. Recomendaría absolutamente cualquier cosa en el menú, ya que los 5 platos diferentes que conseguimos eran todos deliciosos. El menú para niños viene con un desierto que es de gran valor también. No puedo esperar para volver y probar el Lamb Rump. . . . mmmmm.

A party of 20 adults and 7 children had pre booked and pre ordered our meals. The service was atrocious, we waited almost 2 hours for starters and another hour for mains. Several items weren’t available despite pre ordering, including mashed potato and peas! How a restaurant can run out of such basic items is beyond me. Several desserts were also not available It was my daughter’s birthday and this put a dampener on the day. The manager did give us a round of drinks and discounted the bill but this didn’t make up for the terrible service. We would have happily paid full price if the meals had been satisfactory.

Absolutely gorgeous meal, we got there at 3.pm and had the toasties and a bowl of French onion soup. Highly recommended

Hay carteles para advertirle que si estaciona aquí, debe registrar el automóvil en la computadora. El comedor es bastante agradable, con mesas muy bien colocadas y no demasiado cerca uno del otro. Opté por el salmón y mi pareja optó por la lingüina de marisco. Tomamos dos copas cada uno. A £ 65 pensamos que era caro para lo que era, aunque estaba muy bien presentado y sabía bien. La porción extra de fichas para compartir estaba en un cubo de plata pequeño, no mucho más grande que una taza. No estaba rebosante de chips como las fotos de gestión y no valía £ 4 Pequeñas cosas acaban de quitar el límite de la ocasión. El personal aquí es agradable en general, pero quizás podría ser un poco menos blase y más atención a los detalles ayudaría. En dos ocasiones mi pareja pidió vino y su copa tenía el lápiz labial de otra persona por todo el borde y marcas de dedos en ella. ¿Cómo no viste que el vidrio estaba tan sucio? Hacerlo dos veces fue más que falta de atención a los detalles. Uno de mis tragos estaba corriendo por el exterior del vaso y estaba justo encima de la mesa. Como era una noche tan agradable había ventanas abiertas. Hay mesas de madera afuera y se permite fumar allí. Obviamente, el olor estaba entrando y como no podía llamar la atención del personal, mi compañero se acercó y cerró la ventana más cercana a nosotros. Decidimos no quedarnos más tiempo y tener un desierto. No creo que volvamos. En general, fue lo suficientemente agradable, pero podría ser mejor.

8 of us turned up Thursday afternoon 15th August, we were greeted by a lovely young woman big smile made you feel welcome. We also met a lovely young man who looked after us doing drinks and food order, I have been many places and my children say I an hard to please and always have a complaint wherever we go but here the only thing bothered was I did not get their names, and I was in a rush to leave. These guys are a huge credit to you and let's not forget the delicious food spot on first class will be back soon. THANK YOU

Lovely food, great prices, nice outdoor area!

Played bowls at pub, very good,facilities. However car parking confusing, presumably the car park is run by a separate company!!! You need to enter your car registration on a machine on pub bar but the machine does not display that you have to pay. I was told by staff member that it was either £2 or I could buy a drink to the value of at least £2. However other members of my team were only told that they had to pay £2 - no mention of the drink deal. Therefore inconsistent messages are being given by staff members. This matter could easily be resolved by clearly displaying written payment messages both in the car park and on the bar. After all there are clear messages in the car park of the penalties imposed if you don’t register your car details.

Strong smell of urine inside on a mid afternoon, with few customers at the bar. I assume it was from the toilets, I ordered drinks only and quickly sat outside in the fresh air. Outside seating is ok. Has steps inside which is poor for disabled/wheelchair users when you go in one entrance and get told the bar to order drinks from is down the steps. Raised cobbled stones by the disabled parking is also a poor design feature. Nice friendly staff.

We held our nans funeral here and I couldn’t fault it one bit. Birgit and the whole team were amazing from the planning to the day itself. The kitchen team were fantastic with chef meeting with us from the get go to make sure all needs were met.

£3.40 for a glass of Diet Coke wtf!!!!!! Complete rip off will not be coming here again either with or without family sorry but disgusting prices

3 of us visited at 3pm for food, we opted for bar food over the restaurant menu. We ordered a club sandwich with fries, pepperoni pizza and the steak burger with salt and pepper chips. Food was absolutely delicious and decent portions, especially the burger, glaze on the salt and pepper chips was also delicious, everyone really enjoyed their meals- fab chefs 🤩 Majority of staff were lovely and friendly!

Popped in for a quick pint, served inside really quickly and found a seat by the tv in the beer garden. Place was heaving and the place had a chilled vibe.

Waited over 40 mins just for the 1 starter between the 2 of us. Then another 30 mins for the mains, to which one was the wrong order. Chips on the meal were cold. Menu very basic

Lovely Sunday roast..nice atmosphere and staff are really friendly and can't do enough for you..recommended..clean and tidy

I decided to order the Sunday roast. I'm not usually a fan of roasts in pubs. I have to say it was delicious. The beef was so tender and plenty of it. The yorkshire pudding was lovely and crispy. Everything was perfect. Nice friendly staff. We did have to wait almost an hour for the food, but it was rammed as it was Father's Day. Unfortunately, we couldn't manage a sweet!

We went since the place had been done up and taken over and the food was awful. I ordered the salmon and it tasted like it had been boiled in vinegar and lemon 🤢 My partner ordered the chicken tikka masala and it had no flavour too it whatsoever. I'll never eat here again. The price we paid was not worth the food that was served to us.

Best food in the area! Hard to beat even if you travel. Excellent service and laid back atmosphere great bear garden for sunny days. Staff are really nice and super helpful. Salt n pepper burger is something else!!! 🤗

Was filming in the area in April this year. I got in touch with the pub and they were happy to accommodate us - they provided a room for us to shoot in but we also had our lunchtime meal here as well. The food was fantastic, much better than you'd expect when ordering a pub lunch. The steak sandwich was particularly nice. Not only that, but the staff were all incredibly helpful and friendly throughout! Would definitely recommend.

A delightful, family friendly pub with good food, Sunday roast- very generous helpings. Caters for vegan and vegetarians. Spacious and outside seating space. Attentive staff. More than enough parking and wheel chair accessibility . Will definitely return.

Over priced food & extremely poor/slow service. Online menu is better than actual restaurant menu. Went to celebrate a birthday but left feeling disappointed. Soft drinks extremely over inflated. Will not be returning.

Me and my other half and her brother John Walsh had a cracking time in terms of the food which was spot on, the service was perfect by hannah, Amanda and the young lad who's name I never got thank you for treating us in a professional and friendly manner, will definitely be back for John's cheese sandwich 🤣

My partner and I popped in for our tea Saturday teatime. Staff are so friendly. We had fish and chips and a chicken curry. Food was amazing. We can’t wait to go again and try other dishes on the menu.

Great food reasonably priced with very friendly attentive service

The food here is first class, as is the service. I have fatal food allergies and I know how difficult it is for any restaurant to cater for people like me, even with advance notice. We dropped in last minute. The manager Amanda, and the the Chef, Martin, were excellent. Went right through every ingredient and made changes to the recipes there and then so that the food would be safe for me to eat. All the food preparation utensils & surfaces were cleaned & isolated from the rest of the kitchen. No danger from cross contamination. The chef made repeat visits from the kitchen to the table to double check everything, as did Amanda. The serving staff were amazing. The lamb rump was fabulous as was the rest of the Sunday roast. Our party (without allergies) cannot praise the quality of the food enough. Amanda and her team are so pleasant, professional, and so welcoming. If you haven’t been here already, give it a try. You won’t be disappointed.

Excellent food . I have food allergies and the chef adapted my meal for me it was excellent. Hubby had the special sea bass king prawn carbonara and said it was exceptional. Always feel welcome 🤗and well looked after by the friendly efficient staff Alice and Amanda. We’ll be back 👍

This pub should pride its self on its staff, as well as the quality of the food and portion size. I find this quality so rare these days, we where made to feel so welcome as a family, honestly keep up the amazing work, your staff and chef are Fabulous.... foods amazing... defo recommend this place.

Lovely pub, great service just unforgettable put your registration in to the car park that you don’t have to pay for. Otherwise you will have to pay for it, which seems a bit weird

Disappointing visit today …. We were put in the ‘annexe’ just the 2of us ! It was very cool and lonely ! Sitting next to a brick wall facing the toilets and emergency exit. Apart from the cold roasties the food was fine !

Friendly staff, good ambience and nice decor pub. Very good value Sunday lunch menu. However, if you’re vegetarian, you’re just not getting the same value as meat eaters. The ‘chestnut’ wellington was awful!!! I sent mine back as the filling was burnt. They brought me another one just as I was finishing my veg and potatoes. Half the Wellington had NO chestnuts, only two green beans and three carrots. No herbs or spices on the filling. WHY do chefs think we want to eat plain veg.. the same veg was a side dish as part of the main course. Also we had to ask for the Yorkshire puddings, despite me asking the polite waitress when we ordered, to include all the same trimmings as meat eaters. Meat eaters had their Yorkshire’s arranged attractively on their place. It’s not difficult to make vegetarian mains to be part of a Sunday roast. Sadly we won’t be rushing back. (We were re funded my main course but I would have much preferred to pay the £15 and enjoy my food)

Met with friends for a pre-Christmas meet-up here. Our server Amanda was fantastic throughout, so friendly and accommodating and really added to the day! Food was great and the whole atmosphere was lovely.

Omg where do I even start?! I'm writing this review from my recliner couch cause I'm that full 🤣 The food was absolutely gorgeous. It's been years since me and my partner were defeated by food 🙌 Portions are so generous. Absolutely lovely. We had a soup of the day for a start and it was like a warm hug from the inside on a cold day. Then my partner had a turkey and stuffing pie. He's a very fussy eater, but he said it was the best pie he ever had! Lovely crust and proper chunks of meat inside. He even liked the garlic mash and the man doesn't like garlic! I had the chicken curry of the day, which again was plenty. The curry was so aromatic and well seasoned, little toasted nan breads were fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. Simply delicious! Not to forget the triple cooked chips. I haven't had them for ages as most places serve frozen stuff. Place looks lovely and was spotless. A special shout out to the two Queens who served us, Amanda and Briony. Great customer service, we had a laugh 😜 The food and service was just spot on. Compliments to the chef, he cooks with passion for honest, delicious food. We'll definitely be back! Thank you Eagle and child xxx

Great atmosphere and Great food this place is a gem, from the moment you step foot inside and your welcomed with Jess’ warm smile, Amanda is the most welcoming host always talkative very helpful and great service swell as Amy, We came for curry night and asked Matt the chef for a recommendation and he didn’t disappoint the food was amazing, Matt and Martin (with an I) always deliver great tasting food.

First time visit on Saturday afternoon (11th November) had drinks, staff were friendly and welcoming, great sized pub, good location, spotlessly clean, will return for food.

I have popped in for a drink before, and it’s always been a warm, relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Amanda delivered the most polite, friendly and professional service that I have ever received in a food/drink establishment. Thank you for making my evening so pleasant from start to finish. The food was also delicious, so I would definitely recommend and return.

Smashing place that has really improved under new management. Food is fab with a great range. Very tasty tomato soup for example. Staff uber friendly. Clearly a well led pub. Fantastic.
