Dylan's Menai Bridge in Isle of Anglesey

Extremely Disappointing. Sorry seems to be the hardest word.... The evening started very pleasantly with a warm welcome. As a family of foodies, we, alongside our daughter, who works within the hospitality industry as a restaurant manager in a city, were excited to visit Dylans's as we had read about their ethos of locally sourced produce etc. Both my daughter and l ordered the scallops which were fine, if under seasoned. We also both ordered the linguine vongole and were looking forward to tasting the fresh pasta made in-house. Unfortunately from the first mouthful, the dish was so incredibly tart and sour that it overpowered every other aspect of the dish. Sadly there was no check back from any member of staff so I called over Aled to let him know of our concerns, telling him that it tasted sour and that too much lemon been put through the dish. His response was to look incredulous and said that 'it does say on the menu it has lemon in it.' We of course are aware of the ingredients that goes into making a vongole but being met with his reaction that somehow we were wrong surprised us greatly. He then said he would ask the chef what would help cut through the tartness but did not take our dish over for the chef to try. He came back with 2 ramekins filled with butter and was told to put the butter through and that would make it taste better. Aled did not return to find out if it made the dish taste any better (it made it into a gloopy, oily mess) and when mentioned to the waitress she said it's good to have feedback as it is the first day they have served it. She offered no apology or attempt to rectify the situation, but just asked if we would be having dessert or coffee. As you can imagine, this horrified my daughter whose restaurant would never give this level of lazy, uncaring service. It did feel like it was a running theme with the staff to not offer an apology. There is definitely of little true care for the customer experience once food has been ordered. They do come very quickly to take payment though!

Seafood was tasty. Only criticism is the chaotic and dopey front of house staff? Failed to provide an expected level of service

Been to Dylans several times and never been disappointed. The food was good although I think the portions are smaller for the price that was charged. 25.00 for half of a very small lobster, salad which was lettuce leaves, tomatoe, red onion and cucumber and a portion of skinny fries. I realise that everything is increasing with the cost of staff, food etc. Service was very slow and we had a small child with us, the waiting on staff were excellent but I think there were problems in the kitchen, I know I should have raised the issue there and then. The restaurant wasn't too capacity. Slightly disappointing.

We have been quite a few times and always come here for my wife’s birthday. The food and the staff are always outstanding every time we come. There is also a lovely little shop at the entrance of the restaurant too with a good choice of sauces and other items. Make sure you arrive early to find a parking space and book in advance. The restaurant is always popular and full of other diners.

Excellent lich in this great restaurant

We had a great evening here. The food is high quality and delicious, and they are very attentive and careful towards allergy and intolerance. Aled was our waiter - he was very attentive to our table, thoroughly checked our dietary requirements and we were able to find dairy and egg free dishes that were delicious. He even found time to take a photo for us to commemorate the meal although it was busy. We can't praise him enough, as it's really the staff that make a good occasion great.

Just a fabulous meal with family. The tacos were fantastic. I had the seafood linguine which was also excellent. Attentive and polite staff and service. Just great!

Great location and unique atmosphere. Service and Staff excellent and very helpful. Great selection of alcohol and other drinks. Food was well cooked and decent portions. Well worth a try if you are in the area.

Great food and service!!! Absolutely Fantastic! All as you would expect, nice atompshere, great food and service. I assume, finding a parking spot may be difficult, but we did not experienced that during our visit.

Recommended by friends, on holiday here so we booked. Saturday night out!! As soon as we got in you could feel the tension, they were under pressure. Table later than we booked. Ordered and waited almost 45 mins for 1 starter that we shared. There were tables all around us that had been waiting a long time for food so we knew this was not going to end well. Waiter was friendly but not attentive due to obvious stress. After another 20 mins there was no sign of main course and tables before us were still waiting so we decided enough was enough and politely left. Sadly not a very good experience at all…..

Delicious food, the lasagne bites, chicken in a basket and Welsh beef with pepper sauce was lovely. Great location overlooking the Menai straits, beautiful scenery and good atmosphere. Will definitely visit again, please bring back the ham croquettes..

Dylan’s is always solid. Nice lunch today after a cold boat trip on the straits. Good service and tasty food.

Came here for a birthday celebration and they were super accommodating and made the evening feel super special. The ‘walk in the woods’ pizza was one of the best tasting pizzas i’ve had outside of Italy!

Booked in for our first night back in Menai Bridge. We came here 6 months ago, and it was good, so had to come again. Didn't disappoint. It was busy even though it was early, always a good sign, but staff were efficient and friendly. One Korean Burger and a Dirty Pig later, we were very content. Will be back again on our next visit

The food is gorgeous!! We are honoured to taste the art of the chief and the freshness of hake fish and lobster. Not only, we appreciate the excellent service by Louis. This was a perfect birthday night. Highly recommend!

Great food and atmosphere overall. The seafood linguine, mussels and king prawns were really good, however the fish tacos were disappointing. Way too much lettuce, too big wrap and not enough fish for the size. The prices were also quite high overall Views over the river were super nice though!

Another gorgeous delicious meal at another Dylan’s, this time in Menais Bridge. Excellent waiter service from Louis. This time we both had the chicken in a basket with chunky chips. We had whitebait and also chilli garlic broccoli as a side. Drinks - a lovely glass of red wine - Gigondas and a Pinot Rose Piatt. We can’t wait to go back.

The food was amazing had the best seafood chowder here and the portions are extremely generous. The staff are extremely accommodating and friendly, our most recent visit we had a server named Louis and he provided outstanding service. I would 100% go here again and recommend it to others.

Dylan's is a lovely restaurant in a wonderful location. I was with three colleagues. Our food was fabulous and the service was great. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience. Open seafood ravioli was one of the best dishes I've ever had. Couldn't fault any of the food that we got. Mackerel pate, calamari, mussels and the ravioli. Simply outstanding.

The location and atmosphere try to make up for the poor food… I had the “Open Ravioli” which was so small I couldn’t tell you what it tasted like, 2 penny sized bits of mush on a 5cm square piece of pasta, cost about £12 and disappeared on one fork!! Then a calzone which was doughy and underdone… my other half’s soup was decent but her burger ‘main’ would be a slider anywhere else… drinks were over priced and flat… lovely view though but next time I’ll get fish n chips and sit on the bench next door

A really enjoyable experience, friendly and attentive staff, the venue has fantastic views over the Menai Strait, and the food was delicious. It was all very reasonably priced too. I would definitely visit again.

Thank you to Jason and his colleague (sorry got her life story 🤣 but not her name) for a lovely birthday meal. As always Dylan's food and service didn't disappoint! One of my birthday gifts was a Dylan's gift voucher so I'm looking forward to the next set of workshop dates being released (I want to do the bread masterclass) and maybe one day I'll be able to make brioche buns nearly as good as yours. Really mediocre meal. Expensive, and the quality is not up to the price tag. Food was also slow to come, and we missed the start of an evening event because of this. I feel this place relies on reputation and doesn't feel the need to try hard any more...

We stopped here recently for lunch after struggling to find a local dog friendly place for lunch that also had a good range of vegan options, this place has it all! Including a stunning view! The food was delicious 🤤

Excellent restaurant, in a top location on the Mennai Strait in Mennai Bridge. They have a nice extensive menu (in addition to fish dishes, they also have various meat dishes, pizzas & vegan dishes). Unfortunately we were seated near the entrance, but during the day and in the right place you have a beautiful view of the Menai Strait while eating. The service is also very helpful and hospitable. The downside is the parking (may require some searching).

This restaurant is very popular as the food is excellent so booking is essential. There is a wonderful panoramic view over the Menai Strait which is so picturesque making this restaurant the perfect dining experience.

Absolutely incredible food, very friendly service. I had the Walk in the Woods pizza which was exceptional, and my Grandad had the Feather-blade of beef, which he was beyond impressed with. Only issue is parking, but it was definitely worth the walk. Will definitely return

My partner & I came to Anglesey on a trip, and off the advice of our host we visited Dylan’s. As soon as we read the menu we were blown away by the amount of produce Dylan’s gets from hyper local & local suppliers. We went for a range of dishes and EVERY SINGLE one was absolutely amazing, even our mocktails were super impressive. With the Menai Mussels you could taste how fresh and local they were. Really reasonably priced considering how delicious everything was. Mia & Louis made our trip really special with their friendliness and lovely vibe :)

I was really looking forward to the evening and left a little disappointed. The restaurant was busy, but the service was ok. The staff were friendly, and service was quick. The food was tasty but portions sizes were small especially for the price, it was vert over priced in my opinion.

A Relaxed, informal yet smart and contemporary restaurant- perfect after a day outdoors. A superb location overlooking the Menai Strait. Dog friendly on ground floor. Food is seafood predominately ( of great quality) but a wide variety of other dishes available including vegetarian and vegan options . Booking advisable as it is popular, easy to book a table on the website . If you’re into seafood, you can’t go wrong with any of the dishes but the moules marinara is delicious-yum! X

We visited Dylan's on Friday evening, December 13th, without a reservation and were lucky enough to secure a table for two without any wait! The food was a mix of hits and misses for us. We started with the soup of the day, potato and leek, which was absolutely delicious! It was hearty and comforting, perfect for a chilly evening. For mains, we ordered the seabass taco, which, unfortunately, fell short of my expectations. The portion was quite small for a main course, with just a few thin slices of fish and lots of lettuce. While the taste was decent, it didn’t feel very special, and I was hoping for a more generous amount of fish. The second main, the pizza with goat cheese and mushrooms was a delightful surprise! It was incredibly tasty and made our visit worthwhile. I’d happily return just for the pizza alone. That being said, as a seafood restaurant, I was expecting a more extensive selection of seafood dishes. Though the menu still offers some good options worth exploring. The service was slightly slow, but since it was a busy Friday night, it’s understandable. The staff were generally polite and patiently answered all our questions.

We were early so it was a little quiet but that was better. The food was absolutely amazing. There was a little wait for it, but it was hot and fresh so it’s worth waiting for. Serving staff were super friendly and nice too.

The food is always amazing but really feels like the waiting staff have lost their friendly, helpful manners and just make you feel like you’re lucky that they’re even serving you as opposed to it being their job. Becoming more like another chain instead of a welcoming restaurant

Service was excellent, and food was ok.. I have to say event with the good food and service, it was expensive for what it was. Churros for £9 as an example.

I went with friends last night, December 22nd. 2024 and had the beef lassagne. It was hard, stale and tasteless.

Visited earlier for a pre-Christmas meal. Lovely place, nice atmosphere, great food. Tiramisu highly recommended.

Had a lovely meal, surroundings beautiful, staff friendly. The only fault we could give really was the sun in the conservatory was very low this time of year and it might be helpful if they had some blinds or some kind of tint on the glass. Some people moved but it was a bit of a problem. Overall very pleasant experience

Visited Dylan's Menai Bridge yesterday for a post graduation celebration lunch. This was our most recent visit of quite a few over the last seven years that our two children have attended Bangor university. As usual, the food was excellent, the staff cheerful and obliging and the location is wonderful. The only thing is that the prices have steadily crept up over the years and it's now a rarer treat when we visit the area than it once was. I know some of the influences on are beyond the proprietors control, but it's getting a bit too pricey for what is essentially brasserie type cuisine. Difficult as always to find somewhere to park means that the Criccieth branch will probably be our next visit.

A great range of food for all tastes, lovely atmosphere with beautiful views of the Menai Straits, and friendly, helpful staff. One of the best restaurants on the island.

Had a lovely evening. Food was excellent. Service was first class. Gemma was amazing. Very polite and friendly and extremely professional. Had difficulties hearing which, was due to the large open dining area. Very loud. Other than that. Would definitely recommend.

Unfortunately the quality has really gone down since I last visited.

Fantastic. Went with two friends for my wife's birthday and all four of us thoroughly enjoyed the whole evening. Could go each night for a week and still not be able to work through all I fancied off of the menu.

Had the mussels (with additional pearls) and lasagne bites. Was fantastic.

As good as always. The view over the Menai Strait is the icing on the cake!

A stunning setting if you can get a table in the conservatory looking over the strait. Food is good, but I'd have hoped the fish dish (hake with a mustard & leek sauce) would have been switched since our last visit in 2023, as I just ended up eating the same thing again! (I appreciate there is a specials menu which offers variety, but there was no fish fillet option on this). Anyway, looking forward to returning next year.

Really good food, really nice staff

Delicious food, best meal of the week. We arrived the day a new menu was available and there was plenty to choose from. We sat in the dog friendly section, which was just nearer the door. I'm sure in summer months the view is great, but it was too dark for us to see. Would definitely recommend and given the chance we'll go again. We even had lunch from Dylan's deli in town and that was delicious too.

I stumbled across this little gem while searching for gluten-free restaurants, and we are extremely happy that we went there. Beautiful spot, great view, friendly & helpful staff, and the food was fantastic as well. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will be sure to call in next time we are travelling in that direction.

We go to Dylans a lot but last night, Wednesday 30th October I was very disappointed. We were a family of 4. Unfortunately both my children have worked in hospitality and would have been mortified if I had complained but I regret that now as I can see as a restaurant you have no redress. My aphrodisiac pizza was basically a plate of overcooked dry dough covered with leaves it had virtually no topping and was so dry. And pretty expensive. Huge parts of the crust had blown up and filled with air, as I said no topping. I was realky disappointed and found it almost impossible to eat. My son had chicken and chips, my daughter a burger and my husband a calzone, they were OK. I realky regret not complaining about mine. Very poor quality control.

I attempted to book a table on Monday for my mother n’laws birthday on Wednesday. The request went through and the reply email advised we would be updated. Tuesday I called the telephone number to be told that the booking system had gone down but as soon as it was up and running I would be informed. I attempted to ring back throughout the day but with no luck. I finally spoke to a gentleman last night who abruptly told me they were concentrating on the guests they had in before replying to any table reservations. As of yet I still haven’t had any communication to whether the table has been confirmed- Suffice to say I have now had to make a booking elsewhere. I am unsure as to why a reservation couldn’t be taken over the phone and why it’s acceptable not to reply back to future customers who will now not be visiting due to the poor communication from this establishment!

Really nice food, slightly expensive but you get what you pay for.

Treated by our Son for our wedding anniversary. We do love it here but felt rushed. The food was delicious and the welcome is lovely by the guy with the beard… we wanted more of an occasion not to be out within 45 minutes.

service very abrupt and very slow staters came before the drinks !!! waited about 30mins for mains and it wasn’t even that busy. Table by us with children was exactly the same and children were being stressed and loud. Ordered liquor coffee and espresso martini both of a poor standard. Very disappointed never experienced this at a Dylans restaurant before

Great restaurant. A must-visit with brilliant views. We were a party of 5 (would recommend booking as it can get busy) for Sunday lunch. Burgers were brilliant as well as the sundae!

Great views. Food tasty. I had a burger which was small. 12 chips and teaspoon full of coleslaw for £22. Starters where bigger.

Went out to find some good food and this little gem did not disappoint, we did not have a booking unfortunately but they seated us in no time. The service was amazing and was quick to your every need, food was on another level, we are not from the area and this food was 10/10, we shared 3 different starters (Scallops, SeaBass Tacos and the sharing platter) and it was unreal. We then had then dirty pig and chicken basket and it was cooked and season to perfection, we both commented that we have not had food like this in a long time. Thank you for a great dinning experience

Excellent service, excellent location, excellent food. Proper dedication to promoting Welsh produce. We didn't go in for much seafood because we'd already had a lot that week, but the whitebait starter was good, the dirty pig (pork sirloin on roast potatoes in Frazzle dust) was delicious, but the surprise star of the show were the buffalo wings: I almost never order buffalo wings because at most places the chicken's meagre and the sauce is rubbish, but I had a feeling this would be good and these buffalo wings were the best I've ever had by a country mile. Price overall was a bit more than we'd expect but it was all worth as a treat/experience.

The seafood linguine was everything I hoped for... the muscles were sweet and the fact they were collected from the waters right outside the window made them even more sweet!! I could give you an article to read about this restaurant but, there is no need as it is one of the finest places I've eaten in a while. It's tremendously busy so book in advance of your arrival to Anglesey. Only issue is parking! Get there at least 15 minutes before your booking to give time to find space as you WILL LOOSE your booking if LATE!

Visited Saturday afternoon having booked a table. When I booked, I asked if we could have a table in the far corner with our dog. Male Manager told us the policy is not to allow dogs in that area. Tried to explain that we did not want the outside section. He was not listening and took us to a table in the middle of the room. Shockingly poor customer care from this man, who seemed a little stressed and completely ignored the first rule, Listen to your customers and don't talk over them. Never a problem previously when we have visited, so very disappointed because of the actions of one person. Food was OK as usual, and table service was fine.
