Review is for Afternoon Tea. Was excited to try a proper English Tea, found hotel on tea review site. Overall was awesome; tea, food, service were all first rate. And the environment beautiful. Would wholeheartedly recommend and would most happily return. All in all a great experience. Thanks!

I have been frequenting the Durrants Hotel for almost 10 years, and it has become my point of reference every time I return to London. This place has a special meaning for me, as it is located in Marylebone, the area where I lived during my student years. Today, Marylebone represents one of the most exclusive and peaceful neighborhoods in London, and Durrants perfectly embodies its elegance and quality of life. Durrants is a historic gem, with roots dating back to 1790. The hotel has retained its Georgian charm, with interiors that reflect an old-world elegance, but what makes it truly unique is the staff. The manager is simply extraordinary, always friendly and helpful, and the concierge team and all the staff work in perfect harmony to ensure impeccable service. There is an attention to detail that is rarely found elsewhere. I have stayed several times in the charming Georgian Rooms on George Street, which I always request for their comfort and refined atmosphere. Every visit is a special experience, but one of the fondest memories is linked to a birthday spent in the splendid Suite. On that occasion, I was brought an exquisite Victoria sponge cake, accompanied by greetings sung with affection by those who served it, a gesture that made the day unforgettable. The hotel's location is ideal: located in one of the most refined and quiet areas of London, it offers a serene haven where you can relax away from the hustle and bustle, whilst remaining in the heart of the city. Durrants is my place of peace in London, a place where I always find tranquility and a warm welcome. During my business trips, I also stayed in one of the single rooms. Despite being compact, the room is equipped with everything you need, demonstrating that every space within the hotel is designed with care and attention to ensure maximum comfort. Another unmissable pleasure is the Afternoon Tea, with homemade desserts that are a true pastry masterpiece. Durrants beautifully combines elegance and substance, offering an experience that improves with each visit. I can't wait to return and continue this tradition that I have built over the years, with the certainty that I will always find the same level of excellence. 🇬🇧 I have been staying at the Durrants Hotel for nearly 10 years, and it has become my go-to place whenever I return to London. We just had a fabulous stay at The Durrants Hotel! The rooms are on the smaller side but quite comfortable for us since we only slept in the room. In our opinion, the location cannot be beat and the service was all around superb. We definitely recommend and would stay again!

The lady at check-in (wearing gold glasses) wasn’t particularly welcoming. Not a single smile or anything to welcome me. Asked for a credit card on check in - which I didn’t have (1 night pre-paid business trip) then said they had to empty the mini bar ‘to be safe’ - OKAY. I don’t drink alcohol anyway but I was asked to take a seat at the bar where she said she would come and get me- she did not. I had to go back and check the status of my room and if I was allowed to enter it after growing tired of waiting. The room is in dire need of an update. (BADLY) Ripped / mauled curtains, stained towels on arrival, chipped paintwork, stained cushions & outdated bedspread. But most of all the staff are a little too snooty and not friendly at all. Wasn’t really directed or shown to my room, nor explained breakfast or dinner / facilities. Just given a key (after I had to ask where I should collect it from - hint - it’s not reception) A smile and some information could very well transform one’s stay here. Good location, poor views, REALLY LOUD creaking floors above me which had me up from 6am. (I was in room 106).

A lovely family owned hotel in the heart of Marylebone. Located on a quiet residential street. Walking distance to Baker Street and the main high street. We were going to a concert and came back to the hotel quite late however, we enjoyed our stroll back followed by a drink at the bar before bed. The bedrooms are clean and tastefully decorated. The hotel has lots of nice period features. The breakfast is freshly prepared. The staff are friendly, helpful and professional. Based on that we will be returning. A recommended stay for sure.

Stunning hotel in a perfect location, on a quiet street off of Marylebone High Street and within easy walking distance to so many places. The open fires in the entrance and rooms where you can sit and have a relaxing drink are the introduction to real luxury and it's so well priced for such a beautiful building and stay. The staff are so helpful and so friendly too, nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are beautiful and comfortable and clean and are well maintained. We had breakfast which isn't like many hotels and kept warm under lights, but each item is freshly cooked. 5 very big stars for this hotel and I look forward to my next stay. I have no idea how anyone could have a bad word to say about this hotel. I had a wonderful time.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Never go here for a meal. A total let down. No wonder the restaurant was nearly empty on Thanksgiving evening. A potentially lovely space ruined by inedible food and appalling service. The type of food that gave England a bad culinary reputation back in the day. Someone needs to come in and take over the management of the restaurant. I was literally embarrassed that we took guests there. We live in the area but will never go back. A faulty towers parody that I can’t believe still exists but for the fact the owners have been there since the 1920’s so don’t face the pressure of marketplace rents. Truly the worst meal since school 40 years ago

Durrants used to be a treat when there was no competition but it’s now very stuffy and stuck in the 1970’s. Soup was gloopy, gravy (or sauce as the waiter called it) was thick, roast potatoes poor, parsnips soggy. Just overall disappointing and I felt embarrassed for my host as I’m sure it wasn’t cheap.

2nd year tradition for a post carol service dinner for a party of 9. Last year we had a private dinning room - this year we were in the main dinning room, and oh what a let down. Service and food were just so average. The dinning room has a nice "clubby" feel, but the food and particularly the service just didn't live up to expectations/previous experience.

We returned to Durrants Grill Room for another excellent meal . We both ordered the liver and bacon rarely seen on menus--. Perfectly done and delicious. We love the atmosphere in the small paneled room. My only criticism is he poorly trained staff. They are young and willing but have some difficulties with the language and need better supervision. I would recommend that you visit if you want a return to the England of earlier centuries.

The restaurant and hotel are like stepping back in time. What they have not done is maintained the level of service or quality of food from previous eras. The service was slow and the food of, at best, average quality. The roast beef was fatty and smothered in gravy, which destroyed the taste. we were not offered horseradish or mustard. One of the staff was chewing gum. that might be accepted in an American diner but not in a restaurant. we had to send the bill back twice to get the correct one. I can't see that we will be coming back

El Durrants es un hotel administrado por una familia, tal vez uno de los pocos en Londres pero a la izquierda hacen un trabajo maravilloso. Time warp, but in a nice way. Went for a business breakfast and you could actually listen to the conversation without bending your ears forwards. As for the era that was bent backwards, but in a nice way. The creaking floorboards might be the best bit. Not exceptional breakfast food, but perfectly good. Coffee wasn't great though. Suspect dinner is still their strong suit rather than breakfast, but if you want somewhere low key that's not too busy for breakfast this would be it. I used to stay in the hotel years ago and would recommend that too (and the bar) if you want a slice of London as it used to be.

I've dined here many times when eating alone and I have never felt embarrassed or unwelcome. As Durrants Hotel has quite a few business travellers as well as tourists staying, it's used to single diners and welcomes them and treats them in as friendly a way as parties, if not more so.Two lovely maître d's - one Spanish and one Italian, sometimes on duty at the same time - and delightfully polite waitresses. If you want to be left alone to eat you'll be left alone. If you want to talk, the maître d's will talk as long as you want.Lovely traditional English food, with a roast on most evenings on the trolley, and a superbly cheap but nourishing - and filling - two or three-course menu as well as a la carte. Gammon on Mondays, lamb on Tuesdays, pork on Wednesdays, chicken on Thursday, steak and kidney pudding on Fridays, and beef on Sundays. As a complement to my favourite London hotel, it is without parallel.

I happened to walk by this charming hotel restaurant on my way to the Wallace Collection a block away. The menu in the window tempted me to go in and make a reservation. My husband and I were staying only a few blocks away at the Marriott Marble Arch so it just right for a walk along George Street. The restaurant was not overcrowded, the staff efficient and friendly; the maître 'd recommended the house red to accompany my perfectly prepared, extremely tender calves liver and my husband's duck breast was quite delicious with an tangy orange sauce that was not overpowering. Prices are not inexpensive, but a quality dinner with no rushing on a week night and overall quite a relaxing evening and highly recommend for London dining.

We have stayed at Durrants several times this year to visit medical facilities nearby. Today we tried the lunch (we had a good dinner a while back). I had the fixed price meal. An excellent lentil soup and a seafood pie (salmon, mussels etc with a pastry crust) so large no room for the Christmas pud. My wife a la carte had artichoke soup (two Spanish sisters waiting got confused which was which and the maître d not available - bless). Followed by excellent pan roasted pheasant - not dry as often the case. The head is an old retainer and we the only ones there. Lots of people in private room. We were a large family group of 18 persons who had a private dining birthday celebration at the traditonal and elegant Oak Room. Addditionally, the hotel offered us the private use of the Spy Room lounge for the pre dinner drinks. The planning of the event was very well taken care of by the hotel, and the three course dinner of scallops, beef Wellington and desert was delicious. This fish and chips place near Oxford Street is average, with a minimum order of £10 per person. They also add a 12.5% service charge for dine-in, which feels unnecessary. Service charges should be optional, especially since food and labor costs in the UK are already high, unlike in the US where servers depend on tips due to lower wages.
