Very well located in the historic heart of the city. So pleasant to wander around looking for quality food or unexpected objects. I go back every time I visit Durham.

Great, historic indoor market with a huge variety of stalls. A nice change from the horrible generic and run down streets outside. The council should be drummed out of town for presiding over the decline of this historic city!!

What a little gem. I got literally everything I needed within the market, from toggles for a rucksack chord to paint rollers, a cushion cover and some artisan cheese! Well done Durham!

What a fabulous, vibrant market could have spent hours there will definitely go back

Small and bustling, it feels like you can buy everything for those who don't want to go anywhere else. Some products were already on the market in Churchill's time. ;) You have to have time to browse here! There was a weekly market in the large square outside, a perfect combination.

Disappointing, when compared to other market halls l have visited. Cramped and not exciting. Very little fresh produce.

Difficult to remember where you are due to its all over the place layout however, that being said there's lots to find in there. It doesn't have the easy on the eye appeal that it could have which makes it look dated and grubby. With the correct modernisation it could be a 10/10 but for now as it's not easy on the eye it's a 4/10 as I'm in no hurry to revisit

Durham Market Hall is an amazing place to shop for all kinds of good things, whether it's fresh food, unique gifts, or accessories. The variety is great, and everyone there was so friendly. It's such a fun place to explore with a bit of something for everyone. Definitely worth a visit!

Plenty of stalls to see, offering a wide variety of stock from records to household items, to food, to key cutting, to guns, to coffee and even a lovely cafe upstairs. Very historic and yet still very relevant.

Great variety of goods, cafe is good with plenty of choices of hot & cold food. Friendly atmosphere, a real treasure of old fashioned market stalls. We never come out disappointed.

Love the old looks and set up of the market, a good mix of shops from model shops to butchers, bric-a-brac to clothes. Only marked down as I struggle at times with anxiety and its tight and close in some places especially with a lot of people coming and going.

We found a stall selling cheese and it had a large selection that made it hard to choose. There was a huge selection of stalls selling everything you could possibly need or want.

I get why people will love it here, it's quaint, looks like it's small businesses, the people are friendly. However, as a disabled customer, it was awkward, uneven and difficult to access as the lift was broken. The accessable toilet facilities were shockingly outdated and grubby. Underwhelmed.

It's an eclectic mix of stalls, but not much in the form of a variety of fresh produce. Good fresh fish counter, cheese counter... could only find one fruit and veg vendor. Plenty to see in terms of other vendors from card shops, florist, jewellers, music stall, and a well stocked DIY/Hardware store. The Market Cafe, located the floor above the market is well worth a visit; there is a lift for the less able / mobile people. Good range of food and drink at a budget to suit all. The broth and dumpling, although seasonal, is well worth a try.

Old style market, everything from a needle to fresh fish. Very friendly staff and attentive service.

Lots of nice stalls and you get different things that are local and quite different. There are food stalls outside in the market square. if the weather is good, then its a good go to place.

A brilliant market hall in the heart of Durham City. You have to visit it if you're in Durham, not least for the vegan and gluten free bakery that's moved inside!

Had a cuppa and a toasted teacake in the cafe upstairs. They have a great menu. Ladies are very nice and helpful. There is a great wine supplier, Market Hall Wines, great selection of wines, beers and ciders. Guy who owns it can recommend good wines, havnt had a wine I didn't like from him. 10/10

Exceeded expectations. Most all the operators are cash only. I had to walk away from a shirt 👕 that I wanted.

Central Market with a wide variety of shops geared towards tourists and very busy when I visited There was an outdoor market adjacent though some of their prices were extortionate Eateries on site too

Good place for getting everything under one roof from fresh fish to continental vegetables, kids toys to stationary and even hardware stuff. There is a cute little restaurant on the first floor which helps if you are hungry. The staff are friendly. Toilets are on the first floor but those get closed in the evening hours (can be an inconvenience sometimes) There are some unique stores such as antiques, old records, paintings, and even tatoo and piercings. There are special markets in the city centre outside this market hall mostly on Saturdays. Car park can be a hastle but you can try the Prince Bishop's car park. There is a Tesco supermarket outside and the Durham post office besides it. I hope this helps.

Large covered market with a range of goodies from fresh fish to knick-knacks. Covent Garden without the prices, and definitely worth a stop!

This is exactly how an indoor market should be! The Market Hall is a beautiful old building chock full of wonderful stalls selling all manner of things: fruit and veg, freshly ground coffee, seeds, knitting wool… and there’s a great cafe on the first floor. One of my favourite stalls was right at the back selling beautiful cushion overs, throws, embroidered bags and mosaic lights. We visited on a grey March Wednesday and the place was busy with shoppers of all ages. I didn’t get a photo but did see a blackboard near the entrance detailing the different specialist events scheduled. Will definitely be back to this Market when we are next in Durham.

Durham is a very scenic place to visit

Absolutely lovely place to visit, try out the upstairs cafe as well and have a browse around. There are lots of bits and bobs to choose from the many stalls, it's difficult to leave empty handed. Such a relaxed atmosphere here but the one single thing that lets it all down is the pure unfiltered dross coming from" Heart" radio blaring out in the hall, it is absolute punishment. I would suggest this cacophony does not fit at all with the natural ambience of this historic hall.

I am notvthat thrilled about the place, but, and there is a great "but" - one of the stalls, which is actually a multi-stall is a gem: Row Bazaar. They sell rugs, lamps, small furniture, cushioncases etc from Turkey. It's a celebration of colours and fabrics and you'd be spoiled for choice. Highly recommended!

Full of lovely little trading stalls. The people are very friendly in the north east.

It's surprising the stuff that you can find in there. The aisles are very narrow so I don't recommend taking a pushchair or buggy into there.

I always enjoy a trip to Duhram Market. When we lived in Durham we used to get our fish from Hodgson's and it was always spot on! The butchers here is good too. Today we had lunch at the cafe upsatirs and I had a lovely pie and chips - sorted me right out!

Very nice very centrally located market. Has very good range of second hand records, pet provisions, gifts, hardware, stationery and books and more The nicest aspect is the cafe come restaurant on the first floor very nice range of dishes well and prepared. Order at the counter and they come and deliver to your table. Public transport links excellent accessibility good well worth a good look around
