Duos Fast Food in Larne

Stopped for fish and chips with the family on the 11th of July 2024. I have previously been to Duos several times before when I worked in Larne and it was an outstanding chippy. This time was a big disappointment . Fish was soggy and dripping with oil. Chips were also oily, asked for salt and vinegar and didn’t get any. I have noticed that Duos have moved away from the ventilated cardboard packaging which kept the food crisp and dry. Won’t be back

Staff are friendly and helpful, they have a big menu, but their fish is horrible, as it the batter. Chips are good big portions, prices are good as well. Can be a bit slow as most food is cooked fresh.

Generally I really like duos. But we got a Xmas chip, which consisted off chips stuffing and cocktail sausages. No ham no chicken/turkey, no cranberry sauce. I have had several of these from various chippys and this is the first without the turkey/chicken, or cranberry sauce (this is not a xmas chip). The gravy was really thick and gloopy, really unappealing. We ordered stuffing balls, these were really tasty. All in all on this occasion the food was just OK. I am on this occasion disappointed because duos is usually really good.

Huge fish, crispy golden batter, too many chips for 1 diner. Prompt delivery. 💯

Food was good quality and not too greasy. Enjoyed the food and the delivery was pretty quick also.

Takeaway Traditional Fish & Chip Shop style for dinner. Got myself a reasonably priced Chip and Cheese for dinner and couldn't be happier. Plenty of chips and plenty of cheese melting on top with a splash of sweet chilli sauce for extra flavour. Hopefully get a few more trips down to this place over the winter for hearty grub.

Chips were hard and reheated fish was rock hard over cooked, I asked the staff for salt and vinegar and they did not put it on also staff are miserable I would not come back here it's poor value and badly managed.

Purchased Cod and chips, fish so overcooked and hard. Chips ok and a big portion. Would not buy Cod from then again, maybe try something else as they have a big menu.

Duos chippy in Larne suffers from the same issues as all the Chios shops in the town. It is ok but nothing is particularly great. Chips while real seem to be from the standard pre-cut suppliers which make them quite bland and tasteless. Fish is similar. You know it is fish but the taste is bland. As I said all Larne chippys are the same so if you are hungry then Duos is as good as any but no better than others.

Girls on the phone were so polite and helpful food was beautiful we ordered chicken goujon meal 2 kids burger meals and a fish with a few chips thrown on and a diet coke my daughter called down to collect it came home and the 3 drinks (you get 2 with the kids meals) were missing i rang down girls were very apologetic and said the drinks would be sent up to the house we ate our dinner n then i had kids in bath over an hour later while i was bathing kids the door went and my husband answered the delivery guy still got it wrong and we only got a can of coke i didnt ring down again for the kids drinks the kids were now in bed by this time i jst wouldn't order again to collect I would go in myself to make sure its all correct

Stopped for a fish supper. Very polite and efficient service. Have to say it was great to say if was fresh and batter in the shop. Heard the chef say, one and half minutes on the fish. Good to see the update was correct. A large portion of chips is well worth a visit.

Had the most amazing fish out of Duos this evening, absolutely delish, cudnt get over how big the fish was. Super thick, beautiful crispy dry batter and lashings of red sauce as requested. Girls serving were really chatty and friendly. First class service Very reasonable priced. Highly recommend you try here. Simply the best. First visit and definitely won't b our last. Thankyou girls

Last minute decision to phone for an order to collect, which was ready in 20 minutes. Friendly staff, hot and freshly cooked food which we enjoyed.

Best chippy in the town! Nothing is ever a problem. The girls on the counter are so lovely and always polite. You won’t be disappointed trying here!!

Chips very poor tonight not cooked fresh reheated or sitting heated skin hard not fluffy inside more like poor quality frozen

I had battered sausages which were raw inside the batter, my children had fish which was over cooked chips had alot of black bits in them, staff are rude and lazy we asked for salt and vinegar as we were eating in the car we didn't get any nor did we get napkins we will not be calling here again the worst I have experienced in a long long time.

Large portions and great food! Their Texan burger is massive and they're always generous on their chip portions

Waited 40 minutes about 14 people and delivers sent out while I stood waiting on a burger meal and sausage.I .After no sign if my grub I left Need to go back to get my money returned.Worst service I have ever seen and I lived in many places in Belfast for 44 yrs.New to larne first visit I'd never recommend them.

Possibly the worst Hawaiian burger I have ever had. Burger half cooked, raw onions, a mountain of cheese and a big cold floury bap not even heated or toasted. Sorry not good enough

Good service and friendly staff

We were hungry and decided to get two cod suppers instead of cooking ourselves . we were so disappointed As the batter was too thick,soggy and greasy. The fish was greasy and it didn’t look fresh . The chips were undercooked and greasy . We could only eat a few mouthfuls as there was an unpleasant greasy residue and aftertaste .

Tonite wens 23rd of dec , i was treating my family to take away , got in Duo’s as always. I made the mistake in the phone order. Not placing a LARGE family chip , i phoned as i thought it was their fault . But no MINE ! The owner sent down , a FAMILY chip , as a gesture of goodwill . I can deffo say not many business would be so understanding . Will never go anywhere else again xxxxx❤️❤️

Food was undercooked and the oil needed changed. Would have been my go to chippy until this visit. Definitely time for a change.

Bought fish and chips on a Sunday evening was very disappointed always used to buy our takeaways here not anymore fish was so well done the batter was hard couldn’t eat it the chips must have been fried at least twice hard and horrible will not be back

Stopped here on a motorcycle tour of NI. No haddock left so I had the whiting, it was amazing. Will definitely go back there if I'm ever in the area.

Food was very disappointing fish overcooked batter really heavy. Chips had been reheated all in all awful won’t be back this place used to be a great chippy what has happened?

I went to Belfast to buy a car from east London, I’m a Muslim guy and when i saw the shop I went in and the first thing I asked was “is it halal” a lady named Jill said yes I ordered so much food and it was absolutely yummy and worth it. Jill made me feel like I was at home and welcomed I would highly recommend this place for a quick bite or even a massive meal. The portions are very generous I had to finish my one in two occasions I was really glad will definitely be returning thank you so much

Chips somehow soggy and chewy at the same time with barely a trace of salt or vinegar, staff too busy talking amongst themselves to serve customers, would not recommend

As far as chippys go, this one is pretty decent... I really do love their normal chicken burger, I always seem to order it... Chips are fresh too! Although I made the mistake of ordering the southern fried/hot and spicy chicken burger one time... it's basically like a birds eye frozen chicken piece... absolutely gross which is a shame since their ordinary chicken burger is great! Curry sauce isn't the best either but I don't really order that often from any chippy.

Not all that impressed with the food, slow to make up my order and poorly cooked. Overall left me disappointed.

Great food but ive been in a few times now and there is continually something missing from my order. Bags should be checked to ensure that everything ordered is there before being given to customer. I live a little bit outside the town and therefore due to the order being wrong my food is cold by the time i get round to eating it. U need to sharpen up duos!!

Food is fab. Cooked fresh while you wait. Friendly helpful staff. Friday evening usually very busy but you can phone in your order a while in advance or get it delivered. Car park at the side very convenient. What can I add to that?

My wife and myself use this wee chippy on a regular basis and have always been pleased with the food and service received. The food is always well prepared and not overly priced(the chicken maryland is great value and easily does two people) the only fault we find is that if you place a telephone order they don't appear to make it until you turn up to collect it which means it is kinda pointless.
