Dunya Restaurant in Plymouth

This was near my hotel and they were happy to take a solo diner. I ordered Cigeri. diced lambs liver, sauted, with onion. diced became sliced. it was overcooked, but the flavour was ok. needed sumak. Had the Iskander Lamb Shish. The meat was very tender and tasty. The grilled veg hit the spot, but the sauce was a little bland and the pieces of bread were stale and hard. I had a Pepsi Max to drink. It came in around the £30. They need to take much more care, especially as the prices seemed high.

Had an amazing meal at dunya this evening , staff couldn’t do enough for you , exceptionally clean and tidy restaurant and the food was to noch

My husband and I visited the restaurant at 2:00pm and the restaurant was not crowded but the service was very bad and slow. The waiter was very mean and the atmosphere in general was boring. I ordered seafood casserole and my husband ordered a chicken casserole , both of it was terrible, the seafood casserole was salty and cold the taste of it was horrible and the chicken casserole was not even ready the chicken was red from inside, it takes half an hour or maybe more to bring the order and it wasn’t even cooked. Strongly not recommend 🙌🏻

We had dinner as 3 people, my son and my husband. While we were drinking our soup, we needed bread. Normally, in Turkish restaurants, extra bread is free or a very small amount is charged. But Dunya Restaurant charged us £4.35 for a handful of bread. It is not ethical for them to charge this price for such a tiny piece of bread. As a Turk, I felt deceived, but I paid the price because I was ashamed for them. But if you are not very hungry and want to eat less, I would not recommend Dunya restaurant. Because in their eyes, you become an unwanted customer who does not spend much money. I do not recommend

The food was wonderful and there was lots of it. Prices are absolutely fair. But the best thing was how great the staff were with my young niece, who has allergies. She knows her allergies and they spoke to her directly to find out what she could have and what she likes. They put a dish together for her that wasn't a set menu meal and even took her to the food prep area to choose what she wanted. A very friendly and accommodating place that does very enjoyable food.

The food here is out of this world , really well presented and perfect portions. We had the 4 course meal and every course was excellent . We couldn’t quite finish it all but not through a lack of trying . The atmosphere is really nice and relaxed. The staff are friendly and professional. One of the best places in Plymouth.

Very skeptical as don't like to try new foods but this place was amazing explained the best dishes to try food was cooked to perfection so much flavor and the waitress was very friendly and nothing was to much for her. 13 of us (One Achord Choir) came for lunch. not so many of us this time but we like to get together when we can. The food and the service are always excellent, and this time was no exception, which is why we always return. Shelley and Saima were our servers and they are so attentive it is wonderful, nothing is too much trouble. Zezo (call me handsome) Ryan, Salmon and Omar are wonderful chefs and cook the food to perfection. Everybody I know who has visited here always comment on how clean it is, so you can see how they got a top (5 star) rating. (not sure about the spelling on some of the names) Anyway thank you Dunya for once again making our visit so enjoyable.

We’ve driven past Dunya so many times and said we should try it, but had never got around to it until today. We had been to the cinema and wanted to eat at 4pm, so a bit of an odd time, but they didn’t bat an eyelid. I don’t even know where to start with the food. We love a mezze and have eaten in many Greek and Turkish restaurants both in the UK and abroad. This food was off the charts!! As a family of 4 (but 3 of us eat adult quantities), we ordered the hot mezze for 2, hoummus, tzatziki, baba ganoush, stuffed vine leaves and the mixed grill. We did also need an extra portion of bread for the dips. I simply cannot fault anything, nothing!! Between the 4 of us, we all had different favourites and have found it really hard to pick, but have decided on the Muska Boregi, Sucuk, Mucver and the lamb Shish. The lamb shish was divine, smoky and barbecued on the outside, but so soft, tender and very slightly pink in the middle. Proper “melt in your mouth” experience. The sausage (Sucuk) wasn’t like anything we had tasted before, so flavourful, slightly spicy and totally delicious. The bread was insane - soft, fluffy, chewy, tasty, warm The decor inside the restaurant is really beautiful and the staff are fabulous with impeccable customer service. I honestly think that many restaurants could learn a lot from Dunya. And even my 14yr old son commented on how clean the toilets were and how lovely they smelled! 😱 We’ve lived in Plymouth for 12years and have lots of favourite restaurants that we return to. Dunya is now firmly on that list and we have already planned our next visit for my birthday! Thank you so much Dunya and all staff! Compliments to you all, please keep up the good work because we certainly appreciate it!

It's an amazing restaurant for anything you look for -- The meals are the perfect size and it's the only place to find Turkish lager in Plymouth!

Me and my wife went for our wedding anniversary and it was literally epic, the staff was really friendly and they made the atmosphere really cozy and romantic for us and it was really special, the food was so tasty and convenient portions, the cocktails and mock-tails were really tasty and pretty, thank u dunya restaurant for making it special for us, would definitely recommend it for any kind of occasions

We took our lovely friends to Dunya to celebrate a special birthday. The staff did not know in advance but they made the evening so special for us. The food was amazing, seafood casserole was fab! After all the reviews scoring this restaurant, I felt I had to check it out. We came down to see some friends in Plymouth. They had never been to Dunya's. So I was booking the table in good faith. There were 6 of us, including a 1 year old. So we booked a table informing that there would be a baby present. I had 2-3 texts reminding me and a further phone call, wanting to confirm the reservation. On arrival, we were nicely greeted at the door. As we were coming through the door, they were just grabbing the high chair. We were a few minutes early, so this didn't bother me at all. They asked if we could fold the push chair down and store it by the coat hangers. My friends were really happy with this. Some of us used the coat hanger as our coats were pretty wet. They showed us to the table. The design inside the restaurant made it have a very polished look. We sat in a booth and it felt like our own little area. We had a nice big table. The cushions were very comfortable to sit on. The staff were always very friendly and they were very good with the 1 year old. The food arrived pretty quickly. We all had massive plates. Myself and a friend shared the platter. Another friend had the mixed grill. One had the chicken shish meal and another friend had the veggie mussaka. My friend who went for the veggie options but she was worried before she ordered it that she wouldn't be able to eat it all. So when she had a separate plate with rice and salad and mussaka hadn't arrived- she started to worry a bit more. The mussaka arrived, which probably would have been enough to share between two... you could have made it work. She said it was good as it actually had a lot of vegetables in it. The platter was really nice and big- no complaints from me on size. Lots of tender meat. I certainly wasn't going to leave there hungry. The lamb rib each was super tender- not loads of meat on the bone. More bone than meat. Loads of rice and bulgur. I'd never had bulgur before but I don't know the way they had cooked it but it was tasty. The only thing that I would say is I found the koftes quite salty but more so the lamb. I think it was a kofte. That's obviously a personal preference. We pretty much had clear plates or mostly clear plater all round. So hopefully that's a good indicator that we enjoyed the food. I definitely didn't need pudding but one of my friends wanted to see the pudding menu. So I gave in and ordered the pudding. I went for the salted caramel pot 🤤 so good. I couldn't possibly fault it. Another friend had the same as me. The rest ordered a Turkish tea. I had assumed it would be the apple tea- which I believe they serve quite often in Turkey. It wasn't. It was apparently chia tea. They said that it wasn't anything special. One friend said it tasted like English breakfast tea. But the others felt it was perfect after the big meal. I really enjoyed the experience and I would recommend to others. The only thing I would say is the salt levels- especially in the koftes. So I personally would drop the rate down a bit. It's a shame they don't do half scores. So I apologise, but this for me, would make it better. So I don't feel I can give you the whole 5. #highstandards
