Great selection of food at different times. Just read the chalk board to see. Lovely food here, sit down tables sectioned off a bit from the take away counter, but very close together (ie less than 2 metres). No WiFi - a great shame they are not able to sort out their user name & password. [Why not write the network name on the chalkboard?] Grumpy bloke (manager?) assured me it was the correct password (and refused to check it) and he didn't have the time to check what network is theirs (lots of similar available with passwords). Despite trying 4 times the password was wrong. So, no WiFi.

If you want to wait 25 minutes to be told that they are just about to start making your takeaway sandwich then this is the place to go. Rude and unbalanced SOB is the son who presumably is a partner in this place. Staff run round like headless chickens even when the place is 2/3 empty. Go across the road to the Bakehouse.

I am absolutely appalled by the customer service that I received from the owner. I ordered a sandwich to eat in, when he took the order he was standoffish with me. Absolutely appalled from the “service” my mum received! The man refused to serve her just because she works in the area. We wanted to support local businesses as we are all in this hardship together. However the man proceeded to verbally bully her and even squared up to her! Even threatened to call the police just because she wanted a portion of chips!! What has the world come to?! She came back rather upset as felt like it could have been something to do with her colour. Can’t believe we still have to put up with racism and outright discrimination nowadays! Absolutely disgusted, will never visit again while that awful man still works there

Had the best Welsh rarebit I’ve ever had here! It’s such a friendly, family run, service with a smile place. Can’t fault it. Sandwiches and rolls are top notch and they can’t do enough for you. They are great with my children, providing them with fun crockery and cutlery sized appropriately! They don’t bat an eyelid if the children make a little more noise than supposed to or if the children have questions. Great cakes too! Cannot recommend this place highly enough. My go to lunch place.

My husband and I popped in with our son for lunch and were greeted like long lost friends as we crossed the threshold! We ordered our drinks and sausage, egg and chips for all three of us. The drinks appeared within one minute of leaving the counter and the meals arrived about five minutes after that. Hot, tasty and exactly what the doctor ordered on a chilly day! My husband remarked quietly (or so he thought!) that more than one sausage would have been nice and I pointed out that the menu (on the wall) clearly stated "Sausage, egg and chips", i.e. sausage in the singular! Unbelievably, a couple of minutes later, an extra sausage was brought to the table for each of us, and we were told they were 'on the house'!! A remarkably generous gesture which made my not so quiet husband feel a little embarrassed for all of two minutes! Please don't all rush in expecting free sausages - we have been in quite a few times and we now feel as if we are almost members of the family! Clearly this gem of a café/restaurant has a very loyal following and it's not hard to see why. I cannot recommend it highly enough!

We are in Worthing staying with friends who live there. The need for a cooked breakfast was overwhelming, so the four of us decided to go to Dukes Coffee shop, a place that Lynne and Peter had visited before. We were shown to our clean window table by the friendly couple behind the counter. Our tea and coffee were quickly delivered, and having taken our food order, the lady made enquiries regarding how we had all met (on the First of January 1969 !) When the breakfasts arrived the presentation on the plate was almost a work of art, and it all tasted delicious. When we had finished, we sent our compliments to the Chef, and Gordon came out to thank us. The premises were clean and nicely decorated, and the cost was reasonable. As my old boss used to say ' quality is remembered long after price is forgotten'. Well done Dukes.

This really is a treasure tucked away in Tarring village, on the outskirts of Worthing. This is the second time I've been here with my husband, who really fancied (of all things) a bacon sandwich...how exotic! But I have to say, it was well worth going as I somehow managed to force down an egg and bacon sandwich myself! We shared a bowl of chips and it was all freshly cooked and delicious. Despite being called a coffee shop, it is so much more...the menu is extensive and, basically, whatever you want they'll do their best to provide it. They also cater for 'take away' customers (which, judging from the queue, is also a popular service). There is even a 'customers only' loo at ground floor level which is quite a feat, considering the size of the place! (I think I counted seating for 20). The whole place is spotlessly clean...you can even see into the kitchen area, which looks equally spotless. Service is fast and friendly and prices are very reasonable...I cannot fault Dukes Coffee Shop!

Do not recommend. Surprisingly expensive for Worthing. Large cappuccino was £2.95, as was a slice of the only cake on offer. (Other baked goods and savouries were available). Pleasant enough, but nothing special as a cafe. 12/04/16 Went to go back today but they wouldn't allow me to bring my folding bicycle in (folded) and just generally gave an attitude of everything being too much trouble. Discovered a new teashop across the road, The Old Bakehouse which was very friendly. Review to follow!

If you are visiting Tarring, you may come across Dukes Coffee shop which is situated in the historic part of town. A good choice of snacks and meals are served, and takeaways are available too. We have driven past this little restaurant several times saying we would give it a try 'some time' and today was the day! It is situated in Tarring village on the bend of the road so is easy to spot. It's surprisingly busy for a 'village' but it's really on the outskirts of Worthing so don't expect it to be a traditional, quiet village out in the countryside - it's not! Considering the volume of traffic passing by, though, it's surprisingly quiet inside...perhaps not quite so peaceful at the two tables positioned close to the road itself! I think this place probably started out as a simple coffee shop but it has certainly developed into a delightful restaurant offering a wide choice of cooked meals and hot snacks and a good selection of hot and cold drinks. There is also a children's menu available. We received a lovely welcome on entering and service at the counter was fast and friendly. Our paninis were absolutely delicious (freshly made to order, not pre-packed) and the chips (served separately in a bowl) were really hot and tasty...I suspect they may have been frozen, not fresh, but they were lovely! The pot of tea was HOT (hallelujah!!) and the coffee was good too. The whole area was clean as was the single loo for customers' use. All in all an excellent visit which we'll repeat soon, I'm sure! Only one minor criticism - there did not appear to be much choice if you're popping in for coffee and cake - if that's what you're particularly looking for rather than a meal or savoury snack, there's a great little café over the road where you can try out a cream tea or reasonable selection of home made cakes! Well done, Tarring - all options are covered!
