Very short staffed, however the guy behind the bar is great! Always serves with a smile and is very helpful. The food is pretty decent however there can be abit of a wait. Other than that if you’re after a cheap meal for the family then this is the place for you.

Visited for breakfast on a weekday and we were literally the only people in there. Supposed to be unlimited but you only get to order 1 plate of food however cereal for the kids is as much as they can eat. Fair price, good enough overall.

Staff was so lovely ..... you could hear them all caring for the people who sadly lost there homes in the easter fire in Dover...... hats of to you all and my thoughts are with all the families who sadly lost everything x x

Food was lovely and fairly priced. What made this an amazing experience were the staff. I didn’t catch any names but the guy with the pokeball tattoo at the bar was amazing. He was very fast and efficient with service and has great conversations! Definitely would recommend for the staff alone but the food is another great bonus!

I'm a little disappointed. I think we came at the wrong time. Carvery looked on its last legs. The potatoes and veg were looking a little old. Once we got our dinner to eat, we heard numerous people saying the same, and staff discussed this (Table is next to the entry) and I think manager said let's get some fresh stuff out. With 3 kids with us, I couldn't wait for fresh stuff. We visited on a Sunday so you would think that they would keep things fresh without having complaints. People arrived who had booked and were told fresh stuff was being done. Wasn't much of a service as you go up and do it yourself. A lovely guy behind carvery got me a side dish for baby.

Arrived was greeting by a scruffy employee in tracksuit bottoms whi was very rude. Told me I had to keep getting up and down if I wanted food and drink. I ended up walking out and went else where.

Today we decided to have lunch at the duke of york brewers fayre, we ordered but the lady working at the bar didn't tell us about how the children meals work and how we had to order, then I entered the bathrooms and there was pee all over the floor and the dryer did not work the bathroom also smelled, the tables were also discussingly sticky and it took FOURTY 4,0 minutes and it came cold! Would not recommend!

No sign of staff so had to wait ages to be seated, we both had pies, my friend had 3 pieces of meat in her steak pie, I had chicken which was a better option, couldn't work out if the peas were frozen or tinned, either way they were pretty inedible. The decor was very tired, shabby chairs etc, it just had a grubby feel to the place

Nice experience, everyone was very friendly and kind. The starters are not the best deal, rather small for the price. The fish and chips was actually lovely and the kids brownie was great, for only £1.25 more on the kids meal.

Been here last night for dinner and for breakfast this morning, the food was cooked to perfection both times, the staff are nice and friendly, who will talk to you and have a short discussions, which I struggle to find in any pub. The service was brilliant and quick. Everywhere was always clean and tidy, Cannot fault this place in the slightest.

One of the best restaurants in the Dover area when I get to the ferry too early, food is great and cheaper than on the ferry within 5 minutes of checking in at the ferry and there is a Shell gas station next to the restaurant. It's worth signing up with the Brewers Bonus Club, the chain is spread across England and offers great savings offers

Excellent place to visit, all the staff are welcoming, friendly and helpful, although they were busy, we were seated straightaway, the food was great and very prompt and nice, I highly recommend this place

Eat there in the 23/12. They had a reduced menu due to 'world wide supply issues', realistically their parent company have an issue. Food wise, the scampi portion would be small for a child let a lone the adult that ordered it. My Smothered Chicken was terrible, it was so rubbery from being over cooked.

Ok so it was boxing day and appreciate they were busy. The food we did eventually receive was pleasant enough. We waited hours for our meals. Three and half hours in total from start to finish. Not only that on a pre-ordered and paid for special day meal to be told the desserts were unavailable for three of our party really was extremely poor planning. The staff were run off their feet, too many tables to cover sufficiently, the main problem seemed to be the kitchen couldn't do the covers. The change from carvery to chosen menu meals seemed a big mistake. Brewers Fayre get your act together. It will certainly be a while before I return.

Would give a zero if I could, the 1 star is for the young man with the beard and the young manager on duty, they were really nice in difficult circumstances but that’s the only plus. Travelled many hours to stay in hotel, was given a very limited menu when we arrived and as it was quite late we had a look and decided we could eat something from there. After ordering something from a choice of 6 options we were told that was now not available. While I appreciate things were beyond their control with food deliveries, the 2 staff mentioned above being so nice, the main reason I decided to leave a review is due to the older lady being so rude. Not only did she make us feel like an inconvenience when we arrived, she decided to also be rude when we were talking to the 2 nice staff and when we were leaving we could also hear us insulting us to the chef in the kitchen! Safe to say we did not stay and eat and found somewhere that we felt welcome

Booked for family breakfast, disappointed in service, asked for fried eggs told not yet they are being cooked, no sausages. When asked where to pay told not here over at the till. Listened to staff moaning about other staff all in all miserable experience.

Lots of menu items not available and no discounts or alternatives offered which is sad as its usually very good. But still good for the kids who are obsessed with the refillable machine

Great low cost place for the family

Not very christmas at all bit boring I thought, service was good shame they don't smile when giving food so miserable, only one that smiled was the lovely chap behind bar was cheerful, food was great and hot.....

Called in on the off chance (Friday 24th Nov ) I didn't book ( advisable ) with family after a busy day shopping . The place was busy not full with a lovely atmosphere of family friends enjoying there time together.We were shown to a cleaned table quickly.Waitress was happy polite & efficient ,bringing me the allergy menu which was a great help.I put our order through and was welcomed by a very cheerful young man.He was knowledgeable of the menu promoting offers, up selling where needed to the customers benefit ( adding a puddings etc ) Food came out quickly and presentation was good ,I had fish & chips and it was very nice ,the haddock was cooked to perfection 👌young granddaughter had fish nuggets but preferred my dinner 😋 daughter in law's pie and mash she said was yummy too.We left feeling full happy and content with the whole experience .Thank you Duke of Yorks Dover .

Staff so helpful and full.of joy... been searching for a proper cooked steak and this place delivered to perfection and for a cheaper placed restaurant the food was better than some expensive places 10/10... we shall be back soon

I have eaten here for a couple of years now and never had any problems food is always lovely and staff are very friendly and helpful their very good with my children who have behaviour difficulties we always celebrate family and friends birthdays here too fantastic place highly recommend x still a fabulous place

There were loads of empty tables but the hostess had no idea where to seat us. The tables were sticky and we sat on unwashed blankets with food stains on them. There is no service, you have to order for yourself at the bar. They didn't have the mix for their brand new drink - if you're serving your drinks from a premade mix, you have no business calling yourself a bar or pub of any kind. The drink I ended up with was not as advertised, watered down, I don't think it had any actual alcohol in it. They served me children's frozen fish sticks and called it scampi. I'm just glad it was cheap, so I don't have to actually eat it.

Typical nice pub food, want to say that the girl that served us was so helpful and efficient thank you Demi for your help our 2nd outing with my mum that had a stroke 6 weeks earlier. The manager was lovely too let me off load (it all came out hahaha). We have been here many times and always made to feel welcome

I think food is very nice for the money but they need to sort the toilet out it smells very bad and I have been going to this pub for last few months and I'm very disappointed when I go to wash your hands has the sope box always is broken and sope just don't come out they need to fix this and they have a big problem with flyers in the breakfast department I have to say it is a disappointed has the food is not bad 😔

This is the worst meal I've had anywhere the meal was small, I think it was a prepacked and microwaved on site, the meat was like old shoe leather will not eat there again and advise nobody else does

Food standard for category of restaurant, other reviews highlighted the feeling of ‘irritation and inconvenience’ that management and some staff have towards service. I felt spoken down to regarding an issue despite it being an easy fix; being told that they were very busy despite half the tables being empty and it being a Monday. Nothing special and not a place to visit again. Strangely kitchen staff were running food to tables, the whole place runs odd.

A lovely meal. I wasn't that well, have a small appetite and not all that interested in food but I really enjoyed this and the child's portion was great for me .

What a DISASTER!! You have to order everything yourself at the bar AND PAY before you get anything. Orders are not taken at the table, so I go to the bar and ask for a Pen and paper... DON'T HAVE THEM!!! So, how am I supposed to order??? There were only 4 tables occupied for a mid afternoon meal, yet several items on the menu were unavailable, including the fish & chips... in DOVER!!! REALLY GEORGE??? The food came out in different stages, so some of us were eating and others waiting... Luckily, at least the staff were pleasant and saw the ironic side to the entire situation. Oh, and it's not a single experience... last year was the same!!

Great staff, so helpful and friendly. Had a great meal here with family. We had to wait a while for food, and they were extremely busy even on a Wednesday evening, but the food was great and enjoyed by all. This place is great value for money.

Low quality in gernal, eggs often undercooked, sausages burnt, bacon rubbery, and everything is unseasoned. This along with food being left out for hours, and a large amount of flys everywhere. Some of the worst coffee from a machine ever.

Good food , nice people, but everything is pay as you go, pre dinner drink , you pay , order your meal , you pay , just give me a bill at the end of the meal .

We're staying at the Premier Inn next door and arrived pretty late in the evening after arriving back on the ferry, so we didn't have much option for tea. Our experience was that good if we visit Dover again we would choose to book and eat here. All of the staff were fantastic and great with our kids, and the food was excellent. The steak was cooked better than the one I had at the Disneyland steakhouse the day before. The staff were brilliant, especially after what I assume was a busy bank holiday, all very friendly. If this is typical of the place then what a great first impression of the UK for anyone visiting for the first time. Absolutely recommend.

Food is always never very hot. Children's food is brought out on very very hot plates that the child cannot touch without getting burnt!

First time back here for a while,food very good and service very good .

We stayed at the premier inn next to it. Because of the location this is the only place to eat. We came in the evening without reservations and were told that the wait is 30min without reservation (at 6pm). This was ok for us. The food we had later was good but nothing special. All in all you didn’t feel to welcomed on that evening. On the next day we come for breakfast and it was the same. They asked for reservations (which we would never make for breakfast). However we could order. The continental breakfast is bad to be honest. The cooked breakfast was order only and required to wait 20min+ even the pub was literally empty. The staff was nice but you did not feel welcomed.

Was informed this place was a lovely pub to visit and with the premium inn next to it. Don’t bother visiting the pub because food was disgusting/ serve was without a smile just a grunt /sit over there. Lady with red shirt!!! The most amazing place to have your UNLIMITED breakfast. It was awesome! This really made our day, even though it just started. And chapeau for the waitresses, they did a wonderful job, you know, doing their job.

We came here for an evening drink last weekend and was utterly disappointed. One flustered member of staff serving at the bar and a queue of people, who were infront of us, a couple who were being served proceeded to order food for what looked like a large table of people and as you can imagine this took a while. Another member of staff came to the other side of the bar made a drink and left, we went to the other side of the bar assuming this was for drink orders to be told 'one queue for everything' despite us only wanting a couple of drinks, I told this to the member of staff who shrugged. A customer in front of us who was also waiting rolled her eyes and said she was also waiting just for one drink and had been waiting ages. This dragged on and we eventually walked out, prior to this we asked a member of staff if there were any tables free and were told we would have to wait an hour, despite there being several empty tables around. Place has definitely gone downhill, wouldn't recommend and can understand why they are closing so many. Very poor indeed, we will definitely be giving this place a miss from now on.

We have eaten here a few times , and have always been pleased with the food and service . Coming back today and just wanted to give a shout out to two staff members. Ricky who was behind the bar and Christine who looked after us , from the moment we arrived . Both of them have a great , friendly service. Christine went above and beyond to cater for us and with a smile :) . We will be back . Thankyou

Outside was a shambles overgrown weeds carpet filthy napkins stuck to the table our party group had pre ordered our mains nothing came out together 2meals were forgotten as they hadn't turned the page over! , my meal of smothered chicken was ok but my dessert,,,, caramel button Sundae,,,, well it didn't even reach above the top of the glass and half the glass was squirty cream!!! Poor will not eat here again

Warm welcome all staff are friendly and helpful, food was excellent steaks cooked to perfection. Good value for the kids meals. Decided to return the next morning for breakfast great welcome again only minor complaint was the eggs bit overcooked no runny yolk, but everything else was perfect. just under £33 for three adults and 3 children great prices

Didn't eat as only popped in for a quick drink but place is filthy. Outside there's rubbish everywhere and place looks dirty and tired. Inside, the tables are extremely sticky and place looks unloved and grubby.

The food was delicious I loved the chocolate brownie and I will visit more often and buy the lasagna

Reasonable pub/restaurant. Food average. Buffets look a bit dried up and not appetising so would give them and miss and just order off the menu. Premises OK but could do with a good deep clean as can sometimes look a bit dirty and tables and floors were all "sticky". Staff have always been pleasant and polite. Service good.

Decided to go here with my partner before a show. Unfortunately the chefs Are unable to.differntiate between rare and medium well done leaving us with a plate of blood. When I politely told member of staff she agreed to replace the meals after suggesting we eat the rest and wait for new steak. Completely missing the point that our food was covered in blood. She told us fresh meals cooked properly would take a further 15mins. Not a problem. Half hour goes by and no food. Politely asked how long was gonna be given that she said 15 mins and we booked early to ensure we didn't miss our show. To be told it wouldn't take so long if you didn't require your meals to be re done. My reply. If your chef knew how to cook it wouldn't have needed re doing. This by the way was the manager. No manners or customer service nor people skills whatsoever. She then hid behind two jumped up waitresses saying they all couldn't see a problem with the meals and that apparently medium well done steak is meant to have blood. These idiots shouldn't be running a restaurant! The attitude and rudeness was unacceptable. The price these places charge they could at least learn to read an order and understand the difference in cooking meats! Avoid. We walked out in the end. Wasn't worth our time money or energy! Amateurs

Functional. Not wildly exciting but serviceable.

Nice pub, friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Didn't have to worry about parking there either. Nice selection of beers too.

The restaurant had almost no redeeming features, decor in extreme need of attention, an overall gloomy feel. It almost felt dirty though I'm quite sure it's been cleaned. The food was average to under whelming, there is much better food available elsewhere. If your staying at the premier inn and want a drink it's worth it beyond that probably not. One thing that made it all worth while was the staff. Each and every one of them an absolute asset to the company for that reason and that reason alone I gave 4 rather than 2 stars.

Do not book for Father’s Day breakfast it was awful. Service was Rubbish, Plates kept running out causing huge queues right to the back door. The manager just laughed it off saying they can only go as quick as the dish washer! Well buy bloody more plates …. Milk wasn’t refilled , No spoons . It was a shambles They can’t cope .

Given 1 star because we have tried to get into this place 3 times now and over the last year, haven't been able to get a seat, must be short staff because car park wasn't even half full and lots of empty tables but still unable to get a table for my family this last time, don't think I'll be coming to try ever again

I met up with family for my sisters birthdays. We were seated in an area alone due to the volume of people, but that was okay. (My only suggestion would be that maybe instead of an L shape, consider a rectangular formation so that all the family could see each other.) The food was okay, all came out at the same time and was hot. Puddings were good. The only concern was with the gluten-free option, which looked like the ordinary dessert and had no distinguishable features. Service was good. All requests met with a smile. A very big negative was the toilets. Both sets looked like they needed refurbishing. Dirty carpets, broken latches, not pleasant to use.

We were a larger party staying at the premier inn next door. Long wait at the bar even to buy a drink . Meals arrived in about 30 minutes and were as expected for the money. However, they called ' Time' at 9:30 , stopped serving any drinks and closed by 10pm. It's a pub, closing on a Friday night at 10pm 🥺🥺🥺. We were asked to finish our meals quickly as they needed to close the doors and go home. The manager said ' I do not make the rules and we stay open until 11 in the summer'. This is June 14th. We couldn't blame him as I'm sure he was following orders but the evening was really spoilt as some of us had only just arrived and then had to leave. No other way to get a drink or relax and chat with family. I'm sure premier inn must have a business arrangement in place and as many guests are not going to return, due to the location by the port, I guess customer service is not important. Poor show and none of us would return.

Food and the service were great , the place is a little worn , tables were sticky but clean

We like the breakfast as it's all you can eat for a price plus 2 kids free per adult. Never go away hungry and I personally like the coffee machine drinks. Always find staff approachable and friendly. Price have slowly gone up but still good value if you have children compared to other ready to eat food places.
