Lovely bakery and cafe! As soon as you step in you're welcomed by the amazing smell of freshly baked bread and the helpful staff. I had a rye sourdough loaf that was still warm out of the oven and which was possibly the best bread I ate in the UK. You can also have coffee (try the Greek coffee!) and all the cakes looked so yummy. It feels really homely and nice in there, my only reproach is that I wish they would have longer opening times!

Smashing little cafe with freshly made cakes, and what a great choice! Really nice atmosphere with what looked like plenty of regulars. Very frendly staff. It was our first visit, and won't be our last. Its either sit in or take away. Plenty of street parking.

It's great. Really lovely food and a relaxed and charming atmosphere. Nice assortment of cheesecakes, pastries and sourdough bread. A real treat.

Friendly, relaxed cafe with an excellent range of coffee, teas, fresh artisan breads and cakes baked on the premises. Great gluten free cake options including orange and cardamom polenta cake, black first gateaux and strawberries and cream sponge.

After a warm and friendly welcome, coffee and cake were very fresh and delicious. Sourdough breads were also very popular at home. This taste and quality deserve support.

I've just come in for a coffee and cinnamon roll. They were both perfect. The shop is cute and beautifully decorated, with a warm and friendly atmosphere.

Busy place but very worth the wait. The food was fantastic and the drinks we had were delicious. The staff member was working so hard, what a star.

A quiet gem tucked away in the suburbs. Run by Greek.people so nice Greek coffee and some nice savoury Greek pastries but also excellent cheese cakes of many varieties and tarts. The selection is fairly small and changes a lot. I was lucky to be there when they did Belgian raspberry tarts as good as anywhere in Belgium. Some great cheesecakes too. And a cappuccino way above the average.

Very good pizza rolls and eclairs. We have macarons and sourdough bread to try later. Prices are very reasonable!

A unique cafe that bakes a wonderful range of cakes, savouries and bread on the premises. The friendly environment with an eclectic range of objects creates a wonderful ambience.

My husband and I found to.many things around acumelating dust which is difficult to clean the door step is very high The coffee wasent to.bad but they don't Use spoons but sticks so when you Won't to measure how much you wont you can't do.it with a stick. Not a place we wont to go back No where to park to long to wait to be Served.

If you have a mobility problem do not go here. The floor inside is about 12 inches above the pavement and there are no aids to assist getting int the shop. Parts of the decor is hessian sacking, making it impossible to clean. On one of the seats this covering was so old it had worn through. Hate to think how long ago it was last cleaned. The decor includes old office equipment which is a dirt trap. The shop furniture is old and very difficult to clean. The storeroom is the corridor leading away from the back of the shop and young children (2yrs) were handling what was stored on the open shelving. This place needs a complete revamp before the food inspectors visit!

Went here today Thursday 16th June afterbreadingba post on google about this place as my Mum lived local to here and l grew up in this area so know it well and drive through it on the odd occasion, so stopped off the lady owner was very polite when asked what l want said 2 brownies and same again with tiramusu got home brownies didn't last long then after a pub visit the latter was eaten not to sweet as can be and spot on in taste will be back again when passing bye and worth a visit leaving beeston and after something that has a homemade taste 😀

Opens at 10.30 am. Went at midday, waited 15 minutes while the only member of staff served everyone waiting outside then found she had run out of bread! Like a pub with no beer

Most delicious bakery goods. Very clean, reasonably priced, highest possible quality, very friendly. Just excellent. There are Mediterranean pies, like bougatsa that are made on the homemade traditional way.It worth trying an original and authentic taste!

Lovely cafe in a quiet location. The aroma of freshly baked bread hits you as you turn the corner to walk up to the door. Friendly staff and a pleasant atmosphere. We will be back! Sara and Tony

Finally visited the DoughMother and I'll be back weekly from now on. Two choices of lovely sourdough bread (and not overpriced), huge selection of sweet and savoury pastries and goodies. I came away with a cheese pastry, and a slice of vegan cake. The cheese pastry didn't make it home.. wow! So impressed with this little place and finally some real bread to be found in Beeston. Will sit in next time to enjoy the cosy, vintage atmosphere.

Visited here in lockdown for some take away cake. Had the salted caramel slice. Really big and delicious. Staff friendly. Good protective measures in place.

A hidden little gem that we stumbled upon. Great coffee with excellent selection of cakes / bakes and freshly baked breads. It beats many other local places in terms of quality and atmosphere, and is priced suprisingly well.

Delicious coffee, delicious pastries!

We discovered this bakery/cafe during lockdown and are gradually sampling all the goodies on offer. Today we tried the fabulous strawberries and cream cake, a perfect summer dessert, light and delicately flavoured. After reading other reviews, we're looking forward to visiting the cafe instead of just buying to take away.

It is a dry sunny day and we are just thinking about what to get for lunch. And we remembered this little cafe in beeston with some greek pastries. So we thought it is a perfect lunch for a warm sunny day; just like in Greece. Trust me the feta spinach pastry is a must!

What an absolute gem of a bakery. All your bread and baked goods needs (including vegan! ), freshly baked and plastic free :) Worth the wait ( 10:30 opening) and walk there- and if you time it right you often get the second batch of bread fresh and warm. This place is honestly so good!

My housemate and I are surviving lockdown 3.0 by our weekly Tuesday visits for takeaway treats from the Doughmother. I'm always reaching for the freshly baked cinnamon buns while she is always going for the salty satisfaction for Xulia's leek pastries. There is such a tempting array of different baked goods we've now made a note to always bring a bag with us when we visit so we can easily carry home our treasures. The sourdough is a must! We didn't visit enough prior to the pandemic but it seems like the kind of cafe where you could meet locals and create a bit of community. We cannot wait for this pandemic to be over so we can spend lazy Saturday mornings at the Doughmother reading and meeting people from the community.

Have been meaning to visit this place for ages - was not disappointed! Gorgeous sourdough bread, daughter loved the chocolate cake and I had one of the best frangipane tarts I'd ever eaten. Highly recommended!

Phenomenal place... I have been enjoying exploring the independent cafes recently and today's was here at the Dough Mother... Wonderful feel to this place... I had the spinach parcel which was wonderful good balance of spinach and fetta within... Then I had to try the cinnamon roll with my cappuccino... Divine 😁💜 I forgot to ask the owners name, but she was really friendly and had a lovely chat... Thoroughly recommend here to sit in or take away... Wonderful looking loaves of bread for purchase too... Looking forward to my next visit.

Great food and great coffee! Despite being off the beaten track of Beeston, I have gone out of my way to go to the Doughmother to support an independent retailer but also because the pastries and cakes she sells are fantastic. The coffee is great too. Well worth the detour if you're nearby.

Wonderful atmosphere inside, very friendly owner, and fantastic bread. We order and walk locally to buy bread twice a week at the moment and it's wonderful to have fresh bread, handmade, and wrapped in tissue paper rather than plastic. I really recommend getting your bread from this place, and dropping by for some lovely cakes too! The spanakopita (Greek pastry) is also great! Currently covid-proofed: you can pay by card, the tables are distanced, and there is hand sanitiser by the door!

Had some lovely sourdough bread from here. They will also make sandwiches and coffee for takeaway which we've enjoyed.

Delicious and freshly baked pastries,bitg sweet and savoury. Staff is beyond amazing and the place is cute and cozy. It's thousand times better than your average coffee chain anywhere else.

Finally I managed to have the time to have a look and try the little delicacies (the chocolate mouse filled cake is amazing) which I thought were very reasonably priced, and it was so worth it. Delicious food in a very nicely decorated welcoming cafe and bakery. Choulia was lovely, friendly, open minded. I shall most certainly be back.

Slightly off the beaten track, but well worth the effort to visit, this spacious, friendly and inexpensive Beeston cafe with a Mediterranean atmosphere bakes in-house fantastic bread, light cheese pies, delicious spinach pies and of course a large variety of not-too-sweet but extremely tasty and fresh home-made cakes and pastries, including favourites such as cinnamon-sprinkled bougatsa. Vegan friendly options such as halva and much more are also available. You can order virtually any type of coffee or tea you prefer. The young and enthusiastic owners know how to make great bread and delicate, light pastries, so a visit is definitely worthwhile. I also bought pastries and bread for home.
