Visit this place first thing in the morning for a coffee and a pain au chocolat. The pastry is lovely, very traditional. I also enjoy the fact that they open so early, as I only found them because they were the only cafe open on my way to work. I particularly like their oat milk latte, although depending on who's operating the coffee machine, the coffee ranges from poor tasting to exquisite! Luck of the draw on the day unfortunately. As I usually visit so early the staff are attentive and nice if not a little slow off the mark, but I cut them some slack as it is first thing in the morning. Would recommend.

Siempre buscando un toque lugar francés en el barrio de Hackney ,. Tiene la fusión Dorée panadería francesa de simplicidad marroquí. Frescura y un ambiente familiar es el atractivo de este lugar. . .

This is my local place that I've been going to for 3 years. That ended today and I will not eat in this place ever again...We ordered some food and coffee and the guy said that it will take some time for the food, around 20 mins. We said that's fine and took to our table. After 20 mins we still hadn't even received coffee, a gentle reminder had our coffees with us after 25 mins. 45 minutes in we still had not received our food so my friend (who is quite frankly the nicest person in the world and wouldn't say a rude word to anyone) approached the kitchen and said to the girl "excuse me, could you advise us when we can expect our food because I have an appointment soon" The next thing we know, the guy slams our money on the table, I ask "what's this?" and he says its our refund that we asked for because we have to go. Obviously I said we did not ask for a refund, and he just walked away from me like a spoilt child while I was explaining what we had politely asked.I then got up from the table and went over to find out what the hell was going on and neither of them showed any interest in listening to me, and looked away most of the time just hoping I would go away. We had wasted an hour of our time. We left hungry, and totally pissed off at the way the staff had treated us. Rude and incompetent staff like this do not seem to realise how experiences like this can ruin your day. The people here used to be so friendly when I first started eating here. It's such a shame they now employ rude, inept staff not fit for the job. Owners take note - FIND SOME NEW EMPLOYEESI will NEVER set foot in here again and I advise you not to either. Go to Jim's Cafe, Venetia's, Pivaz or Bernstein's for much better food and service.

Bought a falafel wrap for £5, got home (3 mins walk away) and it was clear that the falafels had been standing for hours as they were totally cold and chewy. Is it just me or should they be at least warm? This compounded misery I felt weeks before when buying 4 croissants and a couple of babychinos and being charged £15 for the pleasure. Had to actually return to check they'd charged me correctly as I was gobsmacked when I checked my change halfway down Chatsworth Road. This could be a great little cafe but with prices and quality of food like this it's only alienated me as a local resident.

The felafel salad here is awesome and only£5. Staff contrary to what people have said on here are very friendly - don't take French authenticity the wrong way!!! We go back time and time again ... Our favourite Chatsworth road haunt.

We visited the market on sunday and wondered into Doree for coffee. We noticed the wonderful pastries and fresh juices. The kind and very friendly oener treated is to extra cake because she baked too many. The homemade cakes were so delicious and so were the juice and coffee. On Sunday there is fresh falafel served too.

Nice place for brunch and pastries but the staff were quite dismissive and really unwelcoming. I don't know why, but it would definitely put me off sitting in there to eat. I felt quite uncomfortable. A shame because they offer a nice balance of sandwiches, salads, crepes etc. Some of the service was incredibly slow for the people around us too.

Coffees and bakery products are ok, but staff is simply rude and service is very slow. I would avoid this place - there are much better places along Chatsworth Road offering better quality coffee with nice attitude to their customers.

Friendly service, very nice fresh pastries. If you are more hungry and eating in, go for the falafel - great portions, tasty and cheap.

Popped in for a coffee and pastry to take away , pastries 10/10, fresh and just gorgeous , then the coffee, ok if you are going to offer a take out service there are two rules of thumb here, one - serve the product in a decent sized or an equivalent sized cup that most high street coffee vendors use , esp if your charging equivalent prices , secondly serve it hot ! Due the cups being so small the guy poured out a good portion of the coffee to add the milk leaving us with a very milky lukewarm coffee , such a pity as this place has such potential in up and coming trendy Lower Clapton

This cafe is pretty small but quite a few people came in to purchase pastries to take away when we were eating in. As well as serving sandwiches, breakfast and cakes, they also have bread to buy by the loaf. Everything is baked freshly in the morning. I had truffled mushrooms and poached eggs on sourdough bread. The eggs were cooked perfectly. I had a pain of chocolat to take away which was good too. I would definitely recommend this cafe!

Food comes at different times, takes a long time and there's no communication. But it's a decent price.

With out doubt the tasty and best value spot for lunch on Chatsworth Road. You can also buy freshly made bread and treats. Their traditional French Baguette is a must.

Staff is nice, but not enough food in the plates unfortunately, had to order 6 or 7 plates of 'tapas' and still wasn't enough

If you're looking for a cozy spot to relax, catch up with friends, and enjoy a nice breakfast, this is definitely NOT the place for you. The entire space is crowded with people on their laptops (and not drink or food on the tables), making it impossible to find a seat. It feels more like a workspace than a coffee place . What a letdown—I was so excited to show my friends what I thought was my favorite French-style spot, but it turned out to be a huge disappointment. Thankfully, there are plenty of other great coffee places nearby.

Like so many we hadn't dined out in a long time and my clever husband suggested to sulky me a mid-week local pick-us-up treat. I can only say wow. We loved Ceres when we last visited in 2019 but the tasting menu tonight with matched wines was out of this world and a steal at the price. Deservedly Michelin-recognised cuisine with such a friendly and professional face (just two young women currently run the whole outfit including single handedly chef-ing and wonderful front of house). Ceres is walking distance for us and we are grateful because it is a destination-grade restaurant. Fine dining for £48pp.
