Nice Italian restaurant in Leith. We didn't have a reservation but that wasn't a problem, staff friendly and polite. The food was really good, well made and nicely presented. Would recommend and definitely go back.

Incredible restaurant. We went twice in 3 days. Everything is exceptional. The lovely lady owner was absolutely perfect and obviously takes great pride in her business. The restaurant is spotlessly clean, has a wonderful ambience and friendly staff. The food is out of this world! Steak in particular for us was the best we've had anywhere. Can't wait to come back on our next visit to Scotland. Highly recommended 👌

Had lunch here with my wife and son. Food was fantastic. We shared an arancini starter and walnut/gorganzola salad - yum, yum, yum 😋 my lasagne was perfect and my fellow diners thoroughly enjoyed their haggis pasta. Great prices, great food - I'll be back !!

This place has got to be one of the best restaurants in Edinburgh. Fairly priced,value for money most definitely. Staff really friendly and informative. The food was absolutely delicious. It was a little dark for photos, but here are some of the best of a bad bunch.

Lovely staff and very chill atmosphere to sit in and have a relaxing lunch. The haggis spaghetti and pesto gnocchi were so tasty!!! You get so much food, especially with such a reasonable price tag - we had to get a wee box to take some away but you really don’t want to waste anything as it tastes so good ☺️

I had high expectations based on reviews. Howeved I was left with a big disappointment. The front of the house person tried to be funny, but the jokes simply did not land and some of my friends started to become quite irritated by the comments. Unfortunately food did not meet my expectations. My haggis pasta was very bland. Just tasted like pasta with cream and nothing else. The reason I am giving 3 stars and not 2 or 1 is that my husband said his dish from the Christmas menu was tasty. Unfortunately, I don't think I will be back

I went to a restaurant near where I applied for my visa. The spicy sausage pasta I ordered was very delicious. I also ordered apple juice. You can add cheese. The atmosphere is also very good.

Karen and her team proided catering for our party of over 120 people in the summer and we couldn't have been happier with how things went - the food was delicious, the service and organisation was impeccable, and Karen and her team were so friendly, fun, and warm. They also received rave reviews from lots of our guests! From when we first visited the restaurant to sample the food to the day of the party Karen and her team were just excellent. Would 100% recommend.

There were four in our party and we each ordered a different dish. We ALL enjoyed our meals. My only “complaint” was the portions were so generous that I couldn’t finish my meal. I would have loved to taken my leftovers home but was traveling. The restaurant is small with limited seating but with nicely spaced seating. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. Be sure to get a reservation.

Authentic Italian spot, great service

A small, fine restaurant and a big recommendation. We discovered the restaurant by chance while on vacation and were lucky enough to get a table (reserving is recommended) and then went there a second time. The food is very tasty, you can taste the love and the spice, the menu is also good and there is a daily menu. So if you're looking for a delicious Italian - here's a very tasty one :).

What a hidden gem. The beef lasagna and sea bass were amazing. The goats cheese parcel was an unexpected pleasure. Both waiters who served us were friendly and attentive. Has a neighborhood feel. So happy we found this place. Prices aren't bad either.

Re: Domenico’s First, thanks for replying me a month later, while those 5-stars reviews got prompt reply. Secondly, may I ask what makes u being so sure that none of your staffs are mean? I’d read some of your old replies to other 1-star or 2-stars reviews, your attitude was always denying. It’s the same this time. Thirdly, not necessarily to contact u directly, I would rather to share my experience here if u would like to know. Me and my friend went to your restaurant in July. Ordered 2 beers, 2 starters and 2 main courses. Service was good from we entered the door, until we were half way having our main courses. My friend went to loo, and a server came to collect our plates without asking. I said politely, ‘Sorry, we’re still going, my friend’s just in the washroom.’ After my friend came back, 2 minutes later, the same server came again to collect our plates, which obviously not yet finished. I told him, ‘Sorry, we’re still going’. Then, the server said, ‘Just reminding, u remember what u booked is a table for two?’ We said, ‘Yes, I know.’ And then the server just walked away. Me and my friend were so confused, didn’t understand what did the server mean. We found that’s a queue outside, so we guessed he was just rushing us. We took a look at the time, I was less than an hour for our dining! But we didn’t understand, our neighbour tables came earlier than us, why the server didn’t rush their table, until we saw their bottles of red wine. Me and my friend had no moods to eat already, so we asked for the bill even we hadn’t finished. The server said,’ In Italy, we don’t call it a meal without a coffee or dessert’. I replied, ‘ Sorry, we didn’t know that. Could u please give us your dessert menu? We could like to order some desserts if possible’. Then, he replied smiley, ‘But the Scottish said whoever hasn’t finished main courses, should not order dessert.’ And then he just walked away and came back with the bill. So, this was my experience, I don’t know what could u called it, but I could like to call it ‘mean’. But to be fair, the food was good. And before he rushed our table, his service was good as well. Btw, I’m working in customer servicing, I have a sincere hint for ur restaurant, if ur replies not showing genuine sorry or humbleness, u should not reply, otherwise, u’re making the customers angrier.

We recently celebrated a hen party at this wonderful local restaurant, and it really was an absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish. Karen was incredibly helpful, friendly and accommodating. She made the entire planning process so smooth and stress free by being extremely communicative and flexible, even providing a personalised menu to ensure that all dietary requirements and various allergies were considered and shared this via Google Docs which made preordering for our group of 20 so much easier. The warmth, attentiveness, and fun nature of Karen and her staff continued throughout the afternoon. The food was absolutely delicious and all served super hot (and at the same time despite our large group). Everyone felt genuinely cared for and had a wonderful time - the staff made sure we all had what we needed, which included plenty of the really tasty house wines (both the red and white were fantastic!). I can’t recommend Cafe Domenico highly enough for any special occasion, meal out or just a delicious takeaway wrap at lunch time. Cannot fault them - thanks so much again, we all had the best time and I’ve already heard so many of the girls already discussing when they’ll be back! Definitely see you again soon!

Very good restaurant, we ate haggis pasta which was delicious, the service was perfect. The restaurant waitress was adorable and went out of her way to accommodate my 8 month old daughter in very good conditions. We even prepared some pasta for her so she could share this friendly moment with us!

Absolutely..hands down best Italian dining experience we've ever had.. Four in our party ..each ordered something different and agreed.. AMAZING.. I can't think of a time we asked to meet the chef to shake his hand. I only wish we didn't live across the Atlantic. Probably never be able to dine here again 😢 absolutely make a reservation. It's a tiny quaint place . You will not be disappointed

Karen went above and beyond to cater for my Dad's funeral. She really pulled out all the stops and put on a great spread for up to 100 guests! She even delivered us a complimentary lasagne, we all really appreciate it Karen. You helped us create a wonderful send off for my Dad! I would highly recommend Domenico's for catering or just treating yourself to a nice dinner in the restaurant. Great food! Thank you all

We tried several restaurants in Edinburgh for the past few days and nothing came close to here. Amazing kitchen, so delicious. Don’t hesitate to try.

Great food, cosy atmosphere and lovely staff

We are not sure if it was mister Dom himself, but our server was incredibly kind and accommodating. We made the mistake of ordering an acidic soup when my partner was not feeling great, so they could barely touch it, although it tasted very comforting. The Burrata salad and the fish stew absolutely hit the spot for me, I felt like a night out in Sorrento. To top it all off, the gentleman didn't put the soup on our bill, although it was completely our fault and we insisted he should. To show such kindness towards some naive kids was so touching. You made our evening! We will make sure to come again and finish our meals this time.

The food is incredible! Just like you’ve been in a restaurant in Puglia or South Italy. The portions are big and most importantly the food is good quality and tasty.

A very cozy setting with very delicious food. The food speaks for it itself. And i am mighty impressed by the amount of food the dinner mains have on them. I've had the lunch wraps as well, and liked them too. Clearly, from their food and service, they know what they are doing and they are very good at it. Had their Amaretto Sour, perfectly balanced. Had their Chocolate Orange cake - might be the best cake I've had this year. Highly recommended, please go in, sit down and enjoy a meal. I'll definitely be back.

Unreal hot wraps. Bit of a wait

We haven't had such amazing Italian food for a while! Everything is definitely worth it, we've ordered a starter of the day (nduja, avocado & prawns bruscetta), main of the day - halibut with potatoes in creamy leek and artichoke sauce and venison ragu. Everything exceeded our expectations. Flavorsome, big portions. Super nice staff and overall atmosphere make this place an absolute gem!

As locals we’ve been here a couple of times; it’s a lovely cosy Italian restaurant of a type you rarely find in the UK anymore. Just great quality food, unpretentiously presented, and excellent value for money. But been moved to write the review after they went the extra mile to fit us in near closing time when another venue let us down. Despite the late hour, the kitchen produced two delicious steaks and the service remained friendly and efficient. We will definitely be back.

Domenico's is a small family run Italian restaurant serving a great selection of truly tasty food. Having dined there on a number of occasions, I've never been disappointed. If you're peckish at lunchtime, then there's always their amazing sandwiches with such a variety of fillings - don't forget there's often a queue for them, so perhaps factor in a little waiting time. They also do takeaway pasta 😋 Plenty of local parking in the evening & w/e but local parking charges Mon - Fri now. A number of buses run nearby with bus stop v near.

The arancini was average - quite claggy and very sweet. It came with a really bitter side salad - really not very nice. Took 10mins for the kitchen to prepare even though there was no one else in the restaurant being served by the kitchen. Have heard great things about the salads and sandwiches but this was disappointing. The bathroom is right beside the kitchen and the hand dryer was broken.

Came here for my wife's birthday. Fantastic food and wonderful atmosphere. We were looked after really well and made to feel very welcome. This place will be a must do next time we are in Edinburgh.

Wir waren ganz spontan im Domenico's (besser ist es einen Tisch zu reservieren) und haben netterweise draußen einen kleinen Tisch bekommen. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Der Service war perfekt und das Essen wirklich grandios. Die besten Linguine alla puttanesca, die ich bisher gegessen habe. Alleine dieses Restaurant ist einen Abstecher nach Leith beim nächsten Edinburghbesuch wert.

Food was nice at good price. However, I was surprised at the service. We ordered 3 starters and 1 pasta. All our dishes came together. When we got to eat the pasta, it was a bit cold already. I wish I could have my food served at the right order, especially when a service fee is charged.

Popped in for a quick lunch before heading to the airport. Food and service were excellent. The number of people coming in for the deli sandwiches speaks for itself too.

After attempting to eat here on Saturday, and failing, we booked for Sunday. So glad we did! Great service, super atmosphere and the food was simply outstanding. We had the Haggis Fettucine and the Frutti di Mare Linguine. Both were amazingly delicious but also full of ingredients. Would highly recommend.

I went once and had to go back. The first time we sat down to eat pasta and the second time we ordered take away ciabattas. And both options are just delicious. The attention is great, and the price is fair. Definitely recommend it.

Domenico's is a very small Italian restaurant which has plucked from Rome and dropped in Leith. The food was as excellent as any which I've had in Italy. There are only about 12 tables and they were all occupied, so booking is essential. The atmosphere is of people talking and laughing, just like any traditional trattoria. Bellissimo!

Loved it. Service was great. They had us cracking up. Lovely food, the produce was so nice. Tomatoes 🍅 that were ripe and flavouful, gorgeous wild mushrooms 🍄 . Good size portions. Really nice lighting and general feel. Everything is made fresh, and that's obvious. There's a separate vegan menu too 😋

This place is a hidden gem. Food is fantastic, they have lots of great vegetarian options, the atmosphere is great and the staff are WONDERFUL! Really friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend the sticky toffee pudding.

First time visit to Domenico's, had walked past it several times but assumed it was just a take away. How wrong! Although quite small you don't feel squashed in. The staff are very friendly and the food is amazing. I had pasta with haggis, to die for!! Will definitely be going back.

If I told you what a delightful cosy place this is, how they squeezed us in when it was busy though we turned up put of the blue, how they made a fuss of Daisy my friend's dog, how great the food was, or if I talked about the delightful cocktail, the friendly fellow diners and the great ambiance, the delightful waitresses and friendly barman - well it might seem as though I was exaggerating. And I hope so too because if you all turn up then I might never get in again, and that would make me very very sad!

Living in Leith, I've eaten at Dominico's numerous times, and it's always a pleasure. Seafood pastas are delicious, especially the frutti di mare and the nduja and prawn. I also love their sandwiches for a quick takeaway lunch, huge and delicious. Everything is fresh, generously portioned and great value. I recently had a friend's birthday party there and it could not have been more perfect. They were so flexible and accomodating to our party, it was clear they genuinely cared and wanted to make my friends birthday as special as possible. As delicious as the food is, the staff are what truly make this place. You will feel like a regular after your first visit and will want to return again and again.
