best fish and chips I've had in a long time ... The batter was amazing ... Would highly recommend :-) Very friendly staff cant wait to there again on our way home

Cod, chips and mushy peas. My partner had fish cake and chips. The order was for large fish cake and large peas,we got the smaller sizes,didn’t notice until we got home. Two hours after my cod meal started to kick off and I ended up vomiting it up into the early hours. Not a good experience and not to be repeated.

Got a chips curry and a sausage bap, was the smallest portion ever and paid £5.50, all of the chips were like bullets and thought i was going to snap my teeth.

This is a fabulous little gem of a chippy. If your sailing is delayed they do a beautiful and very reasonably priced traditional fish and chips. Plenty of other options and veggie options. Delighted to have found them.

Hands down some of the best fish and chips I've ever had. This is the 4th time I've been to Holyhead and I make a point to visit Dolphin Fish Bar each time I go as the food is that good. The staff are lovely and extremely friendly. Would recommend to anyone in the area.

The batter was so soggy the fish was inedible. The scampi was not much better. Perhaps the worst fish I have ever been served.

If your looking for the best fish and chips on the island this is the place 😉 the food is delicious and freshly prepared the batter is always crispy and fresh not soggy and the chippy itself is spotless ! Since moving to Holyhead summertime last year and discovering this little gem me and my family are regular customers and although it get’s really busy I have never waited more than 10mins for food . The lady that owns it is lovely and super organised and the girls are quick and friendly 🥰 the portion sizes are spot on and the prices ! In my opinion It’s a PROPER CHIPPY and the nicest around 😉

This place has always been my go to chippy. The last owners were lovely and it was a shame to see them go. I was open minded about the new owners and had mostly pleasant experiences - apart from the last two times I have been there. The main older woman serving likes the sound of her own voice and is quick to become impatient. Myself and a friend popped in lunchtime today (each with a baby in a pram). We ordered, and sat down to wait. ‘Do you want a bag?’ She asked. We heard her, but before we had a chance to reply she bellowed it again across the room! This time referring to us as ‘GIRLS’! We are in our 30’s!!! I do not expect to be treated like a naughty school kid! How this woman thinks she can speak to people like this is beyond me. They have lost my custom. If you read this lady … please speak to people nicer. It makes a huge difference to their day!

I live locally and out of all the chips shops in the town this one by far is the best the food is alway hot and fresh with friendly efficient staff the lady who owns the business is always there and has a great rapour with her customers the place is always busy which in turn speaks for it self waiting time is always kept to a minimum without any standards being compromised very much appreciated.

Had a fantastic meal of small cod and small chips here. The food was cooked perfectly and the lady running the place on the day was friendly. The price of my meal was excellent value for money. I'd definitely recommend this place for a takeaway meal. Well worth it.

Just had a variety of things from the Dolphin, everything was delicious, fish, chips, burgers, spam fritter. Can't fault them.

We have used this family run business for years now and new owners arrived last year. The food is lovely and fresh and there are more food choices now than there have been in the past. The staff have always been friendly, helpful and polite and never have to wait too long for the food. I don’t mind waiting when the food is cooked fresh anyway. The fish is lovely and always a family favourite. Keep up the good work and ignore the keyboard warriors who don’t have the guts to speak to the owners direct but are quick to write a bad review. Shame on them

Id like to take the time for a few words. First of all, some people dont like change, and this is reflected clearly in someone's review. People get stuck in their way and clearly don't like the place for the simple reason that the owners have changed. Because they was happily going in the place getting food before they knew H had left. But when they found out...... only then they felt the need for a negative review. To that person, if you read this, there is life outside ouf Anglesey, try it sometime. Lol Next, the recent negative review. I know everyone is different but i think its really fair practice to leave a bad review IF the owners or staff refuse to fix a mistake, as mistakes do happen. However, I do appreciate that now and again someone's hair can get in a portion of food, but for someone to say they had a hairball in one portion and 3 hairs in another (not to mention the sexism as they are described as being a female's), i find highly doubtful, especially if you're a bit more of a regular and you see how clean this place is kept. Also, that review in particular was wrote a month after actually visiting. Hmmmm. Strange. Anyway, i am writing this as a loyal customer in defence to a local business which doesn't need slating especially with the current economic crisis. Any issues then the owners (old and new) are more than happy to rectify with an apology and either replacement or money back. The food with the new owners is just as good if not better than before, more selection as stated by another, and the serving staff are extremely polite and courteous (Natalie in particular). Definitely don't be put off by these definitely malicious reviews. And if you do happen to come here and have a problem, just let the owners or staff know and they will be more than happy to rectify it. Keep it up Dolphin Fish Bar

Unknown to me through this pandemic this chip shop has changed ownership. It used to be the best chippy in Holyhead if not Anglesey. I tried it twice just in case they had a bad day. The first time I had chips and sausage. The chips were dry and the sausage reheated, terrible. The second time I had chips and beef cuttlet and I have to say that I've have eaten some vile food in my time but never before have I not been able to finish my food. The beef cuttlet had to have been reheated from the previous day if not longer. It was like chewing a piece of cardboard with salt and vinegar. The chips were also reheated and un-chewable and this was at 12.30 lunch prime time. I know that I should have taken them back but I was already out of town. To top it all none of the staff wore masks which should have been a sign of things to come. Do not try this place or do to prove me right. Discussing, never again

Absolutely shocking!!!! Hand full of undercooked chips with no salt and vinegar after we asked for plenty,sausage missing,gravy we didn’t order and probably the worst menu I’ve seen in a chippy in years,food in the bin let’s try somewhere else

Moved to Holyhead found this amazing chip shop food was excellent friendly service price much lower than I’m use to will go back again I eat a lot of chips from chip shops and this is one of best I have visited 5 stars to owner

My wife and I decided that fish an chips were for our evening meal. I went to the Dolphin Fish Bar to pick up our meal.The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful and the premises were very clean. I ordered fish, chips and a carton of peas for my wife and myself. Waiting time was governed by the cooking of the fresh fish as I had asked for the fish to be well done. I collected my order and paid (very reasonable) The fish was cooked exactly to our requirement and the chips and peas were very good. I have to hearty recommend this fish bar.

Definitely best chip shop in Hollyhead. Staff were friendly and the fish was fresh. Price wise I felt it was fair. Would definitely go back.

El Dolphin es un muy fiable "fish and chips". No estoy seguro si ha ganado ningún premio, pero ciertamente debería tener. 'H' es un muchacho el propietario que le completamente agradables siempre te saludan con una sonrisa. También vale la pena mencionar que el Dolphin está impecablemente limpio.

The nicest chip shop I've ever been to if I'm honest. The staff are lovely, the chips are delicious and the steak pies are the best pies you will ever try in your life!

This has been a chip shop for years. The current owner is doing a brilliant job, chips are lovely and the fish is exceptional.

Very good freshly cooked food delicious to eat. Very clean shop there was no smell of stale fat clean tables.

This chippy was very clean and the staff were delightful. I was confused about the menu as it offers a half cod or a whole one ! I asked for advice from the person serving and she seemed to think that a half portion was plenty. Now, I am only a size 8 but the half portion wouldn't have fed a toddler so I was really sad at that, but the fish was lovely and there was a huge amount of very nice chips. Would definately go back but would definately order a whole fish.
