Dog & Duck Beefeater in Wellingborough

Tried to book a table for 2 and it says fully booked until 1945. So I tried to book for 2000 and it says fully booked until 2200. Re-entered for 1830 today and it again says fully booked until 1945 BUT YOU CANNOT BOOK A TABLE AT ANY TIME.Perhaps as well it’s closing down soon!

Good location, plenty of free parking. I was not able to book on line for a table of 5 as no space, but was able to book over the phone when I called without a problem. I think the online system is not set up properly as the restaurant was not busy at all for the hour and half we were eating. Had to wait on arrival as noone around, but once seen taken to table as we were early. No issue with service. Told when ordering drinks that they could only served bottled drinks as no gas for the beer pump and post mix. We had a table check when main courses had been served. Nice food, all fresh, well presented and hot. The restaurant looks tired, wooden table tops are not looking great, chipped, scared and sticky. Not dirty just ware and tear. I might be old fashioned, but I like staff in a uniform, noone was in a uniform. Sadly when we left noone was around to say goodbye as we left, and about three tables in the whole restaurant. The booking system needs to be sorted so loosing business. Would have been nice when we were sat that the menus explained, the main menu and the special offers. Overall three stars, could be better if the restaurant looked cared for and service level to a basic.

Got there early,doors open so went inside ,nobody about so sat down ,a member of staff passed us by and totally ignored us so we left

Disappointed with the breakfast. Service was poor, incorrect menu items and lukewarm food served .Waited 30 minutes for mushrooms to arrive but never did. Staff seemed stressed.

Been in here before and its been ok, went later today and although we had prebooked online,got told they were closing in 15 minutes and would be kicking everyone out whether they had eaten or not. Ridiculous

We had booked a table for 6 for 10.15. only to be told that the restaurant was closing at 10.30 so they could get ready for the lunch menu..!!It was actually my granddaughters birthday. This is just ridiculous!! Why put a booking in when you only have 15 minutes?? Please do not book there. .as you will be very dissapointed...like we all were..

Been a while since my last visit here, the food was good but I did think the portion size was not small but on the smaller side of what I expected. I think that's just a sign of the times. The soft drink I had was reasonably priced. Dylan served me and he was attentive as well as pleasant. I would visit here again

Staying in the premier inn on business and purchased the meal deal with dog&duck beefeater for two nights and two mornings , great service from the staff and great food at good standards , they were very attentive and helpful with menu knowledge , would recommend to everyone

Very good food. GREAT & Fantastic value for money especially for Breakfast @AllYouCanEat. The server was called Brooke, spot on for a perfect start to the day.

I ordered a hard boiled egg, turnt up completely wrong, seemed as if you were trying to give us salmonella!

Hadn’t been here for years for a meal but we was very pleased when there for my husbands birthday food fresh and delicious and hot it was so good, brilliant staff, very helpful and friendly, our server was Dionne C and she couldn’t have done enough if you haven't been you must give it a go well worth it THANKYOU

There has been multiple times I have attended this restaurant to eat, Grace has served me for the first time recently. She is amazing at her job and deserves gratitude on her wonderful service and diligence!!

Sever was Grace, she was welcoming and very friendly. Menu has changed since last visit and prices are very expensive for what you get, burger and chips £15.99 Roast was cold I assume waiting on the burgers

Food is alright. Unfortunately one star due to being charged an extra £5 that miraculously turned up out of nowhere on my bill… I believe the waiter added a tip to the machine herself without asking. When questioned and adding my bill up from the record machine they were still unable to tell me where the extra £5 came from despite ordering the exact same meal the day before…

All good. Grace served us well.

Three o'clock Friday afternoon two course meal deal for my family. Starters and mains all good and served in good time. Young lady waitress fantastic. Perfectly friendly and professional. Well done and thank you.

Mothers Day, a wonderful day to appreciate everything your dearest mother do for you so naturally you'd do something nice for her. We went here for breakfast, we booked for 10 of us to go. Requested to be sat together they said that's OK on the phone. Got there and they split us up completely other side of the restaurant, we requested to be sat together or near each other as there were plenty of tables empty but the manager refused the request, doing so he kicked us all out and refused to serve us, he was very rude and unprofessional. Three mothers disappointed and day ruined.

I've never seen this place so empty. Had the beef Sunday roast with an extra slice of meat. Didn't look particularly appetising, but the beef tasted just like it should. I'll definitely be back to try the Lamb roast. When we booked we noted that we wanted to use our Tastecard, but the offer period had expired even though they acknowledged using the Tastecard.

When Beefeater send their excellent value vouchers online, we often visit the Dog & Duck for a delicious meal. Food is always cooked to the highest standard. Service can sometimes be a bit on the slow side even when the restaurant isn't full, which can be frustrating, however the when the food comes, it never disappoints.

Popped in for some lunch on a weekday. The menu was good and not too over the top. Great prices and a good lunchtime 2 course deal. Absolutely no atmosphere in this pub anymore which is a shame but the staff were very nice and so was the food.

Late Sunday lunch 4pm 30 mins to get drinks poor service in general nobody checked if food OK or if we wanted more drinks , very poor

Our group of 6 had dinner here on a quiet weeknight, and found both food and service lacking. It took 15 minutes for our drinks to arrive (the drinks were at the bar, we could see them sat there) and 55 min for the food to be served. Both drinks and food only arrived after we complained of each being late. The food was not hot, so we imagine it had also been sitting for awhile to be delivered. My ribs and chicken breast were dry. None of our food was hot, and all of us felt it was poorly cooked and less than tasty. We had not been for ages, due to a previous similar disappointing experience. While the interior has had investment in a smart update, clearly the standard of food and service remains poor. It is a shame, as a higher standard of food prep and service would bring in the customersnext to a Premier Inn and with a lack of local pubs. Beefeater should pay attention.

Always come here for breakfast and it's nice, but I thinks the quality is started to slip abit.

Despite being quite quiet, the service was VERY slow. The staff were friendly. One main meal was not brought out with the rest, this had been missed off the order, so had to wait another 10 minutes for it to be cooked. The rump steak was more fat and grizzle than meat.

Staff showed no care tonight after multiple complaints about food quality, asked for meals without things and still turned up within them so had to return plates to have them redone, kids meals were poor, with very little food on the plate and pigs in blankets starter that came out without any bacon wrapped around the sausages!! Again mentioned this to staff who showed no care, just walked off. Would not recommend after tonight's experience, over priced and bad service, not going back.

Was joined today by “er indoors” for the Unlimited breakfast. Funny smell as you arrive, but was seated quickly and it was warm and clean. Our order was taken at the table and I asked if the toast came with the food, but you have to toast the bread yourself, which is laid out by the continental selection. The unlimited breakfast allows you to this selection also. Fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereal and pastries available which looked nice. Lots of choice for jams, marmalade , marmite and chocolate spreads. Muffins, pancakes and croissants part of the continental. Help yourself to tea and coffee. The coffee not good quality but pg tips available for tea drinkers. So I ordered sausage, bacon, hash brown, beans & 2 fried eggs. The mrs had the same but asked for well cooked fresh tomatoes. Having to do your own toast is a guessing game for the timing if your food coming out, so a heads up would be good as we ended up with cold toast. Noticed straight away a lot of kids in the restaurant and they wandering around in the service area grabbing muffins and pancakes. We saw 3 families, and all the kids hardly ate any of their cooked breakfast, but were allowed to go and get more muffins and juice, which again none of them hardly ate. If the kids eat for free option wasn’t available they wouldn’t be wasting food like we witnessed. Don’t get me wrong, it’s great for families but don’t let your kids waste food. Our breakfast arrive, and my mrs wasn’t happy as the tomatoes were practically raw. The fried eggs were like rubber discs, the bacon not much flavour and the sausages not very good quality. The hash browns and beans good though. They say unlimited breakfast but they don’t come and promote this or come and ask if you want more. I had to go and ask as I wanted to order more bacon and sausage. When that came I then had to ask for cutlery. The cost is £9.99 kids eat free. Food not great, service is poor and too many kids. If you want a quiet breakfast not the place to come. For families it is worth the money, but keep control of your children. Poor outing for “er indoors” and the view from the mouth from the south is…….”not worth getting out of bed for”.

Booked a table but had to wait an hour because the maitrede didn't want to upset the earlier diner's who just stayed I personally spoke to the diner's after waiting an hour & and they were happy to leave the table once they realised we had been waiting so long. They were not informed that we were waiting . Very poor management & I was reprimanded for speaking to the table, when they perfectly understood our situation & were more than happy to vacate the table & were very apologetic as they were not advised we were waiting for our table A member of our group is a diabetic & started having issues not eating at a specific time & starting having a hypo. The staff charged her 50p for bread & butter. Not impressed to the say the least!! We have been going to the Dog & Duck for a number of years for work celebrations, but not any more!! I think the new lady manager should be advised to attend some customer service training. We are NHS staff & would never treat our service users in the way we were treated

Eat out here with the family maybe once every six weeks, staff are friendly and welcoming. Steaks are very good better than some of the higher end steakhouse I have tried.

It was ok but only ok. My steak was a bit fatty and chewy and the roast potatoes were obviously not fresh ones and frozen which let the meal down

Highly recommended the Christmas dinner menu was good valve for money 2 or 3 courses the girls that served us were very pleasant and friendly keep up the good work girls ...only bad thing I could say is the ladies behind the bar was quite rude when asking about what brandy they had ...but then got served rum ...other than that great place

I had a voucher for two, fir a Sunday Roast. When we got there we were told no Sunday Roasts, only on the set menu which we didn't want. Not a good advert for the Dog and Duck. In the end we had smothered chicken with chips and coleslaw, quite a small meal, but tasted OK.

Food reasonably good, nothing particularly spectacular but fine. Often have to chase for the bill and more drinks, not particularly attentive or knowledgeable about the menu but polite enough. Have been on a Sunday before for a roast but no one advised they were off until we'd ordered drinks (around 4pm). Overall ok but nothing special

We were shown to our table quite promptly but waited more than 10 mins for waiter to take our order for drinks. I ordered roast beef my friend roast lamb, and it was hot & delicious. After we had got half way through our meal and thought of taking a photo! Too late. LOL We will visit again.

Today Saturday the 11th I took my friend in for a late birthday lunch and a table for two. The waitress came over and ask if we want to drink we both said 2 cola’s and the drink never came and we will still waiting for them to take our orders so me and my friend was getting really fed up that it does not take that long to make 2 cola drinks and take our order, so we walked out! So that the service is bad.

I think I've had too many Beefeater meals whilst working away. The menu is limited, but covers most of the bases. The food is good and the service at Dog & Duck was great.

Woeful attitude from the server, decent breakfast but won’t be returning.

Good venue and food, very poor management which could ruin the whole experience. The manager was very focused on his own agenda with little regard for the customer experience. On completing our meal (party of 6) we were told to leave the restaurant as ‘he had to set up breakfast’, communication was abrupt and rude. While drinking at the bar, last orders were called twice. We witnessed people come to the pub shortly after (before closing time on a Saturday night) to get turned away, agin rudely. To complete the poor service we were then told we “‘had’ to drink up and leave” as the pub was closing. We felt if we did not finish our drinks they would be removed and poured away. Travelling on business with no intention of heavy drinking, this manager had absolutely no regard for service. His presentation was poor, communication skills were significantly lacking and unfortunately I believe his behaviour loss Beefeater significant revenue that weekend and will continue to loose revenues while he is in appointment.

Sits in a corner away from the premier inn sharing plenty of free parking . Had a lovely meal all served well presented,hot and in a timely manner, a special mention to Olivier whom was very nice,polite and attentive at all times. On other subjects , didn’t come across as very large and noted the bar area wasn’t that big also found the decor wasn’t either modern nor traditional just somewhere in between. In general , a pleasing visit with menus to suit all tastes with a decent priced daytime one which offers good value.

Had a great Sunday Roast on 15/10/23. Greeted by Florina who escorted us to our usual table and remembered our usual drinks and food order which is always nice. Food arrived after a few minutes and was perfect as always. Florina returned a few minutes after we started eating to make sure everything was ok which is always a nice touch. Outstanding Service and Wholesome food. Nowhere else compares

I went to dog and duck for lunch today with my husband and the waitress Florian, was very good she was very pleasant , and friendly taking our order, meals came very quick , nice and hot Florina came to check everything was ok and when we had finished, came quickly with the bill to pay, always with a smile , service like this is lovely will defiately be returning

We had twice breakfast and the food was very good. However what impressed us was the fantastic service that was delivered. The lady in charge had an eye for everything. From a warm welcoming arrival to the buffet that was never empty, not even close to it. This means a lot when it is a busy weekend morning. She spotted when guests did not do the right thing e.g. smuggling in extra people and was always polite and professional when it got corrected. This reflects on the team as they were all polite, friendly and efficient. I found the idea great that the continental buffet is self service and the cooked warm items come out of the kitchen plus that I can choose the amount I want to eat of the warm food. That saves a lot of food wastage. We will come again. The price of a full breakfast and what you get is very good value.

Our waitress Abigail was a delight! Compared to other Beefeaters, this place tends to leave something to be desired if I'm honest. The food is good...just not the usual standard for Beefeater. There were also a couple of mistakes from the kitchen that we overheard while we were there and they sent us two plates of chicken wings...which is very nice, but not what we ordered! On the plus side, the front of house staff were fab and very helpful. Our waitress was very polite, well spoken and happy to make suggestions to ensure we had a good experience. We'll definitely be back at some point, as it's a convenient location for us and somewhat nostalgic, having visited multiple times since I was a child.

We regularly visit Premier Inn’s. The service provided by Floriina at breakfast this morning was exceptional. and she managed to , very confidently, do it all on her own.

Staying away from home for work, and staying in Premier Inn next door. Come down for breakfast and am warmly greeted by Florina. Amazingly polite and warm and friendly, just what you need first thing in the morning. Great service, food is good and was a lovely experience. Great pub, good food and amazing staff who are so helpful and friendly. Highly recommended

Great experience everytime I visit the Dog & Duck. I am away on company business and stay in the Premier Inn next door, so have a meal deal with the Beefeater. Every time I visit I am treated amazingly, especially by Brooke who is always friendly, and helpful and says hello every time I visit. Highly recommended !

You need to be absolutely desperate to eat here.. everything that is wrong and horrible with the UK is encapsulated in this hole

Went for a pint after work and got served by a lovely lady called Kemi.

Lovely continental selection as usual. Hot food was disappointing, well done bacon came out burnt, and the scrambled egg was inedible, poached eggs were hard not runny. Must have been a different cook today because we have eaten breakfast here before and its been lovely, will be a while b4 we go here again

Usually at Beefeaters you get ok pub grub. Been to this one a few times as it's near my mum's. Six of us went last weekend and it was not good. We were shown to our table and when we pulled our chairs out the seat pads were really dirty and had lots of stains on them. We tried to change them with chairs from nearby tables but they were just as bad. Calimari starter was oily, goujon starters were rock hard as overcooked. Main courses arrived. Gammon had hard fried egg on it which we asked to have replaced. Most of the other food, tripled cooked chips, steaks, gammon, garlic bread were all well overcooked. No one came to clear plates so after 30 mins had to go find a member of staff and ask them to clear our table. Asked for dessert menu, 15 mins later had to go look for waiter to ask again. Overall, not a very nice meal at all which is a shame as beefeaters are good at having tables at short notice and serving ok meals. Not this time though.

Unbelievably rude - arrived for breakfast 3 adults with 2 kids was told to wait to be seated then after several minutes he returned and we asked for a table for 5 and he rudely said don’t have a table for 5 then just walked away. Ignoring us despite only having 1 table seated in the entire restaurant

Roast potatoes burnt black, rump of lamb really tough a d chewy, thin watery gravy and limp veg.... not great
