Fabulous Sunday roast and great service, went here as a stopover on way to center parcs. Very reasonably priced, lovely atmosphere and very welcoming with the open fire

Greeted by the manager , very attentive, even offered my little girl, pens and paper, once seated, attended by a young waitress, was very nice, but did not know the menue, which was less than basic, I wanted scampi, but not on the menu, I opted for the battered haddock, when this food arrived, my fish was very soggy and had a funny taste, I called the waitress over, and explained , that the fish was not right, a male manager possibly the owner, came over and offered a new fish, I declined his offer, I ate my chips and requested the bill, the waitress presented the bill in full, I informed her I would not be paying for the fish, the manger then came to discuss, and informed me she would need o talk to the kitchen, this is really bad form, the price of the fish should have been removed at the first instance, she did come back with a revised bill, but made me feel bad, although it was all down to them, no appologies at all, would avoid at all costs! Not good.

Our last stop over on the way home after a month touring Aire & Northern Ireland. Dockray Hall is fabulous. The best food we’ve eaten all month, a good selection of wines & beers & a cosy, welcoming space with real fires. It’s dog friendly too. A great night to round off our trip. Thank you. Hang on to that chef!

Recently reopened, now privately owned. Welcoming staff, no food being served yet, but worth coming in for drinks as the interior is amazing!

My husband and I stopped in here tonight without a booking and the staff found us a table despite it being a busy Saturday evening. The service was really good and the food was the best pub meal we had both had for a long time. Lovely homemade food, highly recommend. We had the steak pie and the lasagne

Warm and welcoming atmosphere. We came here today (20/07/2022) for our wedding anniversary... with two huskies tagging along. The team was amazing and so friendly. The food was spectacular and you can tell its all cooked fresh... properly home cooked. For mains: My husband have the steak and Ale pie, while I had the Thai green curry with chicken. I've never had Thai green curry before and found it was lovely. Had a creamy taste with a nice kick to it. Would highly recommended it to all. For dessert: my husband had the Warm chocolate brownie with Raspberry ripple ice cream and I had the Sticky toffee sponge with vanilla ice cream. They where lush and id happily have seconds.. but was full which is good. Would highly recommended this pub to all visitors from far and wide

Booked for 4 people with no prior knowledge of the place and had an excellent Sunday lunch for 4 of us. Reasonably priced, excellent service, lovely ambient setting. As good a Sunday lunch as anywhere we have been. Went with my wife, daughter and her partner. He is French and they live in Belgium. Both are 'foodies' and love nice restaurants. They also were impressed with the meal and setting.

We were a group of 14 for lunch and the staff could not do enough for us. They were so friendly and met all our various requests with a smile. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food which was delicious and very reasonably priced. Add to that the incredible history of Dockray Hall and it was just about perfect. 14 very happy customers.

We visited Penrith today (day out from center parcs) and we asked in a local shop for somewhere nice to have a meal and the lady recommend this lovely little place. We hadn't booked but it was early (5pm) so we easily got a table. Staff were so friendly and food was gorgeous. My hubby went as far to give it an exceptional rating! There was something for everyone on the menu and a nice selection on the children's menu too (so that's a bonus!) We had steak and ale pie, gammon and our daughter had Cumberland sausage. They were all very tasty and we all had clean plates. It was not expensive either which was great! We were talking to the landlord after and he said he had only taken over the pub a few weeks ago, which surprised us as it was running like a very well oiled machine. Gotta be a must visit if you want some good old fashioned country pub food in a lovely old pub If we are ever up here again, we will definitely be returning.

We have just returned from a day out to Penrith and after a trip round the lovely shops we found this hidden gem. We were greeted by a friendly young lady and were made to feel welcome. The reason I chose to go in was because they did gluten free fish and chips! I was not disappointed it was lovely and my husband had the homemade pie mash and vegetables with gravy. It was good wholesome homemade food and service was quick. The two meals and three drinks came to under £50 really good value for an excellent lunch.

This place was amazing. The food was outstanding a party of 8 not one comlaint the chef even cooked for us before opening time. The lady that served us, well what can I say her customer service was 10 out of 10.Nothing was too much trouble. The whole party enjoyed the little talk about the history of the place. We were staying at Centre parcs and are back in November so will definitely be visiting again. Give it a try you won't be disappointed.

While looking for food we stumbled on this lucky find. The Bothy is a very welcoming themed cafe, due to most other venues in Kirby Stephen only serving drinks that day the bothy was busy but we still received a warm welcome and advised we would have a wait, we didn’t mind so placed our order. The food was different, not the cheapest but absolutely delicious, the staff even though very busy were so polite and kept us informed of progress with our order. A bit more of an offer for children would be a bonus.

We go to The Bridge about 4 times per year. We are not very extravagant but when we do eat out we want it to be better than I can make at home. Any guest we bring with us all love it too. Every meal we’ve had here has been excellent! My favourites are Twice Baked Cheese Soufflé, The Seafood Linguini, my hubby loves the Fish & Chips (he has this every time he goes, lol) . My son loves the Squid starter and I also love the Pate when it’s on. I had a gorgeous fish course in spring but I forget the name of the fish which was the whitest fish I’ve ever seen. I highly recommend Bridge Bistro.

Absolutely beautiful, and cosy. Feels like a real authentic old fashioned style pub, with a live fireplace and plenty of Christmas decorations. For us Aussie’s, it was a real treat to experience it! All of the staff were very welcoming and friendly. Service was like a well oiled machine! We ordered the Sunday roast and it didn’t disappoint one bit. Highly recommend coming here if you come to the quaint town of Penrith. Also pet friendly which was an added bonus!!

Visited on a Friday evening, the place was very quiet with only 3 other diners, however there was a steady stream of takeaway customers. The decor and atmosphere is welcoming and the staff are very nice and efficient. The food was great and very tasty with plenty of choice, I would definitely return.

Extraordinarily bland food. Not even spicy, just unseasoned and uninspired, both in the overall experience and the dishes. The chips as a starter were basically Doritos with canned tomatoes; not even real salsa, and plain tasteless guacamole and sour cream. Very poor start. Our mains of beef tacos and chicken burrito were incredibly disappointing. Dry tasteless corn tortillas (clearly old and over heated) were served with under seasoned ground beef and not much else of note. Burrito was more than 50% flour tortilla and the rest was completely tasteless chicken and white rice. No sauce, no cheese, no spice. Both were served with ‘Mexican rice’ which was plain white rice and a tiny bit of chopped onion and jalapeño. Again, bland. Our margaritas were quite unbalanced; weak, far too much lime juice and salt. Staff were ok; food was delivered quickly, but weren’t interested in providing good service and didn’t check on us once. And at £17 for a main, not even good value, especially considering the portion size. There ARE good Mexican restaurants in the UK, but this is not one of them. It’s as if the kitchen staff haven’t ever heard of spices or sauce! If your idea of spicy and adventurous is an English Tikka Masala, you might enjoy it. If you’ve ever had real Mexican food or even tex-mex, steer clear. I can’t imagine why I’d return here any time soon. Definitely not recommended I’m afraid.
