Dipna Anand at Somerset House in City of London, Westminster

Came here for lunch and had the veg thalli.. lovely presentation and variety but food was bland and some of the dishes were very salty. Had Spiced cheesecake which was good.

Lovely food, although nothing out of the ordinary. Great service and beautiful setting, although sadly not much atmosphere as the restaurant was virtually empty. A very nice touch bringing us an extra dessert with 'Happy Anniversary' written on it as I had told them when booking that it was our wedding anniversary. What really let the venue down though, was the toilets, which are shared with Somerset House and the terrace bar. On my first visit I encountered a broken toilet seat on the floor and on my second visit, a toilet cubicle covered in vomit, including the walls. Not what I would expect when eating in a restaurant of this calibre! What a shame.

Amazing as always. A real Jewel in the Crown. Everything perfect ,food,staff,surroundings. Highly recommended.

Enjoyed a nice lunch and great thali in particular. Lovely setting and staff attentive. Would definitely return, and go extra hungry to get the benefit of the bottomless thali! Only criticisms were that it was a bit stuffy inside so had to ask to move next to a window. I also was not a fan of their saag paneer - normally my favourite but theirs seemed to be made with creamed spinach - totally smooth and slightly bitter taste with a lot of oil on top (burnt butter?). Fresh spinach would have been nicer especially for texture.

Excellent service and delicious food. The staff was very friendly and received our food in record time. Strongly recommend

Our first visit after an Andy Hayler review . Very pleasant lady at reception greeted us , a glass of champagne in the bar then to the restaurant just Past it . Again a very pleasant greeting , chicken tikka starter then lamb kofta , and prawn karahi , only quibble was that Perhaps the food was not quite hot enough , a little tepid , enjoyable none the less We will return , we simply cannot understand the reviewer who criticised the service

The venue and surroundings are very nice, everywhere is very smart, comfortable and well laid out. The service was average, you did not really feel welcomed, special or looked after. The food was okay, no different to a good local takeaway. I would not go again, nor will I make the effort to go to Brilliant in Southall which I had put on my list.

My two children and I were in London to watch Back To The Future at the Adelphi Theatre and stumbled across this restaurant whilst having a nose around Somerset House. My son being a fussy eater, I managed to persuade him to eat at the restaurant as we were a bit short of time. I have to say, it’s good value for money considering the location. Nice staff, and setting/decor. As my 9 year old son said, it’s 5 star

10 of us friends went there for Sat 21st Jan afternoon. Great service & atmosphere since we had an area to ourselves. Unfortunately, I wouldn't rate the food more than 6.5/10 at best. We ordered a variety o veg & non veg selections . The meat & veg thali, chicken tikka burger, chollay bhatura, masala fries, Masala bhurji, crushed paratha, Smashed avocado & Paneer salad, naan, Mango & Feta Salad & others. For dessert we had spiced mandarin cheesecake, Gulab jaman So, here's my take on the dishes I tried: Tikka burger, nice bun & tender chicken. Unfortunately quite disappointed with the taste since it tasted like they had used a store based paste to flavour the burger Chollay bhatura was very salty & tasted bitter like they had burnt the garlic/masalas Non veg thali was reasonable with chicken & lamb meat. Chicken had same very average flavour & same taste like the chicken tikka burger Veg thali was also very average Other dishes were reasonably good from feedback from group The desserts were rhe best part of meal. Love the cheese cake & gulab jdmun were nice & soft & not doughy. Compared well to some of the best I have tried Overall a great time since friends hadnt met for a while , but unfortunately was left disappointed by the food, especially with the prices they charge

Lovely restaurant in a fantastic setting. Got there a little early so had a drink in the restaurant bar, which was very laid back. Restaurant itself is a lovely setting and my wife and I both went for the thal, which was fantastic. Food was great, service was also amazing with really friendly staff. Would go back to try more of the menu.

Lovely food and great service . We had various dietary requirements and the venue matched all our requirements. We opted for the Thali’s and the food was well portioned and well seasoned. The staff were very warm and welcoming from the time we arrived to the time we left. Really had a lovely evening and many thanks for a great service

The restaurant can take a bit of finding in Somerset House, but has a sumptuous interior decor and a great riverside setting. However, the food is fairly average, without any outstanding dishes. We went for a weekday lunch and the menu was somewhat limited. The weekend menu looks much more interesting and perhaps we will pay another visit to try it out.

I found this in a search of Indian restaurants in central London. Visited on a Saturday for the weekend brunch menu, was very quiet when we went I assume as it’s tucked away within Somerset House so not a place you’d find by chance. The restaurant itself is so pretty, such a lovely setting. Service was great and food was quickly served. My cousin had the Desi Breakfast and I had the Samosa Chaat - both were great!

A lovely spot by the river with galleries and ice-rink close at hand. Lovely restaurant with several rooms all nicely panelled and comfortable. Very attentive staff. Delicious food. The five of us had most things on the menu and it was all good! Will come here again. Recommended

Delicious food for all of us. Great seating & friendly service from Joe the manager & his staff. Can highly recomend the thalis...beautifully presented, fresh & light. Bonus is the setting - autumn trees on the Thames.
