Desi Kitchen in Newark and Sherwood

Ordered for the first time tonight as a friend recommended it. We had a zinger burger, bbq sweet chilli strips, chicken samosas, spicy fry. Omg the food was red hot when arrived. All packaged nice no leaky cardboard. Its so filling. Abit more pricey but so worth the money. Delivered in less time than it said it would be here. 100% be ordering from here again and recommend to all our friends.

First time ordering from here. I will definitely be my new takeaway. Authentic Indian cuisine. No food colouring in any dishes. The lamb chops are amazing and the tikka masala was superb. I can’t wait try more dishes.

Ordered picked up food(live 3 mins away ) burgers are good which is why we gave 3 stars .ordered paid for salad x2 not put in bag so didn't get this so just plain kebab .fries were just warm not the best .dissapointed would not order again .

4 stars so far until I try the curries. The pizza was excellent...a little pricey at just under 17 quid but you dont mind paying it for quality and it was, plus the free delivery made up for it, once I try more then will likely upgrade to 5 stars.

curries, rice, naan and poppadoms where absolutely perfect. Just feel the samosas and onion bajjis where a little over cooked. all in all impressive as always.

Tried the thali night menu...Great menu and plenty that fed the family. Food tasty and loved by us all.. Will be ordering this again.also added 2 plain naan bread after we had ordered and called back. This was not an issue and kindly added to our order.

Very pleasant delivery driver great food great service

We had our take out dinner from here. We ordered cheese garlic naan which was nice and heavy. One Naan is enough for an above average eater. Egg fried rice was also nice. Chutneys and pappodam were nice. I also ordered a regular fries which is threee time more than McD‘s large fires ;P One item which we were slightly disappointed was the South Indian Chilli chicken, which didnt come out in the authentic way, but was manageable. Overall a nice Indian Takeaway in a place like Newark.

I ordered 2 different curries. 1 was a rogan josh which was excellent. The other was a chicken balti which was very salty.

The best food always top quality

Me and my partner ordered 2 donner frys which we have had before and usually enjoy. Unfortunately the last one we had was extremely oily and greasy. It was so bad my partner couldn't carry on eating his and I had a little bit then threw the rest away. To add to our disappointment I was then up at 1.25am throwing up from what I had ate. What a complete waste of money.

Called at 9.30..they close at 10 and refused custom.rude was an understatement.

Love coming here. The staff are kind and welcoming. The kitchen is always clean. Food is always fresh and cooked in a reasonable time. Had a few different dishes on the menu, and all have been top standard.

Ordered a doner tikka naan (donner meat and chicken), asked by phone if we could have it with just the chicken and was told it’s not possible - meaning it is a pre made mix of meats, fine. What came looked like cat sick, tasted similar, and the meat was gammy and gristly. First time ordering from here but wouldn’t recommend off the back of it.

We stopped by the Welcome Break nearby but almost everything was closed apart from BK, which we didn't want. So we googled for what what was nearby and found this place. We definitely liked the staff and open plan and clean kitchen. Food was also cooked very quickly and well packaged and piping hot, and a decent price. We took it away (back to the Welcome Break!) to eat. Unfortunately, for two out of three of us, the main meals weren't quite to our taste and so we didn't finish them. We saw they contained almond, but didn't expect almond to have been used to THAT extent - making the korma and the tikka masala very dense (and very similar) and VERY sweet. The garlic and cheese naan was good and very big, but not very garlicy. The garlic and coriander naan was not very garlicky either, meaning it didn't have much taste in the end. The chicken was tougher than I would have liked, perhaps more noticeable because of how dense the korma was, but that's maybe a matter of preference. The free poppadoms, however, were the best I've had - crisp and tasty. If I lived locally I'd give them another try, but wouldn't order the same things unless the recipe for those items was different.

Great service and great food. Cheesy Naan were huge, Onion bhaji were some of the best I've had. Really friendly guys on the counter and open kitchen so you can see how clean and shiny they keep the place. Highly recommended

Popped in for a late night meal and wasn't disappointed. Food is good, service was good, only reason I gave it 4 stars was the price. Felt it was slightly expensive.

Great food worth the price amazing authentic Indian dishes with some groovy picky bits (chicken nuggets/strips, cheese sticks/chilli cheese bites) I got a "naanza" which is exactly what it sounds like, naan pizza highly recommend, gentleman on the phone was lovely and polite, the delivery driver was polite and apologised for being late (he wasn't late, great friendly service and he had change ready just incase, make sure you tip they deserve it.)

Absolutely love this place every single Meal has been gorgeous delivered in a good time and always hot the only complaint I have is the change off recipe for the O my chicken it used to be actual chicken thigh and now it’s chicken strips but still tastes as good so I wouldn’t let That put you off great service

Couldn't decide between a pizza or an Indian.. So.. NAANZA! Pizza with a clearly Indian bread and toppings. Good hybrid. The lamb chops were also pretty good and packed full of flavour. Kitchen is well presented and clean, staff were friendly. Will be ordering again.

Easily one of the best burgers I have had in living memory. Incredible flavour. Patty quality was 1st rate. Nothing too flashy, just extremely well executed where it matters most. Very impressed!

Absolutely awful ….. waited one and a half hours for and highly over priced anemic food and and soggy nan and soggy chips and didn’t put the poppadoms in when they charge you for each one seriously the worst curry I’ve ever had LOL … food was dreadful sorry ….

Spent £53 on Food for it to firstly arrive with no popadoms, the lamb was floppy and had more fat then meat, the rice had too much onion in and the garlic chilli chicken was vile with fatty chicken and very very salty. Overall the food was vile and I’d not spend £20 on it never mine £50. They did bring us some popadoms after we called them and they apologised, which I appreciate A lot, but doesn’t excuse the awful food, I’m sorry

One of the Best takeaways in Newark food is always on point. The biryani’s are the best always generous with the portions. Highly recommended!!

Order was over £50. The chips were covered in salt and as a family we like our salt but this was way to much it couldn’t be eaten. Even mixed with the curry sauce all you could taste was salt. Contacted the restaurant who asked for the food back so we sent it back to them, receive a phone call from the manager being completely rude and disrespectful stating there wasn’t much meat sent back meaning we had eaten 70% of the food and tried to argue it was all mixed. Of course it was all mixed to try and take the taste of salt off. Half of the naan bread was sent back it was dry but soggy, the tikka masala was more like korma. Despite us sending the food back the restaurant are refusing to refund. Absolutely disgusting food and customer service. We have basically given the restaurant £50 for nothing as food was sent back. DO NOT USE THIS RESTAURANT AS YOU WILL BE DISSATISFIED.

First time ordering from Desi kitchen tonight. Fantastic service and food. Ordered a cheeseburger meal and hands down tastiest burger I’ve had. The kind of burger that you always want to receive but never do from takeaway’s but thought I’d be naughty and lazy and I’m so glad I did!! Delivery arrived soooooooo quick! Food was hot, tasty, and great portion. Fresh, tasty, yumminess. Definitely recommend.

Ordered food at 7 and was told 25 minutes, food was ready for when I got there which was fab, and it was hot when I got it home. Really lovely food, would definitely recommend and will definitely go back

After having our first meal from Desi Kitchen tonight I can only say that it passed all expectations. The Vegetable Balti was great, the selection of vegetables was the best I've had. Delivery was under half an hour and would definitely recommend the Desi Kitchen

This owner didnt want the public seeing my review and asked me to take it down..... Disappointing. Chicken wasnt tender at all. Could barely distinguish between korma and tikka masala. Way too sweet. (Why would waste time finding ur number n calling you, when i can write a review on google in less than a minute? I know some people struggle receiving constructive criticism, but rather focusing on the means in which it was given, focus on the actual feedback and see it as a way to improve ur business). P.S. bet u think you are really cool using such a buzz word in Karen. What a salty fool. 🤣🤣🤣

We ordered delivery from here using Just Eat, the order came quicker than the estimated time and the food was very tasty, top quality. Would definitely order from them again

Second time ordering for delivery from here, first time was just after Covid so actually couldn't taste any of it, this time round could certainly taste it and it was great! Jalfrezi was amazing, one of the best I've had, hit of garlic as soon as I opened the container, great level of spice and chicken was good size and good quantity. Desi fries were a meal unto themselves. Delicious and somehow were not greasy even with all that meat and sauce.

Possibly the best takeaway Indian I've ever had. We ordered the korma, dhansak and ghoost achari(mine) and shezani, with sides of peshwari naans, bhagis, samosas and poppadoms to share between four of us. The portion sizes, amazing and generous with the amount of meat within each curry and everything was absolutely lovely, honestly don't think i could fault a thing. Thank you very much for a lovely meal, we'll definitely be coming to you again :)

Yesterday evening we decided to check out the new takeaway on Fernwood. I had to nip to the shop so went into order, the staff were nice and friendly, and I like the open kitchen setting they have. We love Indian food and many of our friends have already had a takeaway from here – it came highly recommended. We ordered a Chicken Makhani, Chicken Dhansak with Pilau Rice, Saag Paneer a cheese Naan and a Garlic Naan. The food was delicious and although I like mine spicier I know that if I ask they can add a little more kick. We got some free Popadoms with mango chutney and onions (Free things always make me happy!). The food was great and I highly recommend, the only disappointment was the Naans, I don’t know if they don’t have a tandoori oven but they were very stodgy and didn’t taste as I would expect a Naan to taste. This being said I would recommend the food as with the exception of the Naans the food was delicious !!

Best Indian I've had in a long time! We had the chicken balti and the tiikka with chips along with poppadoms etc. The best thing about it was the ease of understanding the menu as my partner gluten tolerant so there was plenty of choice to choose from. The delivery was quick and the driver was polite and comical too!
