If you follow the church spires as landmarks, exit the churchyard of St Alphage in Greenwich, facing west and walk along Straightsmouth, then find your way to the rail bridge on Norman Road to find the footpath across Deptford Creek called the Halfpenny Hatch, and then, using the spire of St Pauls church in Deptford, navigate through the Nature Reserve park and cross the churchyard to Deptford High Street. There you have food, haberdashery, flowers, coffee shops and many restaurants to enjoy. St Alphage by Hawksmoor and St Pauls by Thomas Archer are both London suburb churches built to meet the city expansion in the early 18th century.

We got off train in deptford and went downstairs where there were bars and eateries. We went (on Recommendation) to the Chunky Buddah. OMG the owner (who was one of the nicest people I had ever met dished up the most amazing food. Never tasted anything as delicious. Its just a pity we live in Manchester and not London or I would be there every week.

Stumbled across this place while looking for another restaurant. Was able to get a cone of jamon pieces that were totally delectable at only 4 pounds. They sell several types of iberico and pata Negra in sealed pouches. Yummy
