It has been at least 20 years since I had bakery products as comforting as a Denela's, that's why I will drive 8 miles when we need bread (of course, when I get there I may leave with donuts, pastries, and pasties also in the bag). The bread just seems to hit the sweet spot, firm, but not dry, and not doughy, and the wholemeal feels so soft and squidgy, but when cut is still densely packed and flavoursome. The pasties here are my marmite, well anti-marmite, as I love them. The ingredients are spot on for me, beef mince, not chunks, obvious potato and carrot, the seasoning is perfect, peppery but not too peppery, unlike cornish pasties. Anyway, must return to work, but maybe I'll get some toast first!

Denelas supplied an amazing buffet for 20 people. The food was excellent, the service and communication was great. Can’t recommend enough.

Best bakery by far! Always pop here for my fresh bread and tasty treats, staff are always welcoming and friendly. A great asset to Castle Cary.

I highly recommend this bakery and lounge bar. I had lunch there yesterday with daughter and baby grandson. Our baguettes were tasty and well filled, a high chair was available,and service was friendly and efficient. The outside area is pleasant - and the WCs clean.

First time visiting today and certainly won’t be the last. Delicious cakes, great prices and very friendly service. Highly recommend

Standard of food always great, these guys work hard. Questionable hygiene though. Not sure how they get away with all the ‘long hair’ swishing about, looks awful. A girl carried out 6 bacon pastries from the kitchen in her bare hands grouped up under her chin against her long blonde hair and dumped them in a tray, if that happens in front of customers what’s happening behind the scenes?! Hair nets, Tongs and a bit of respect for our food please.

We had lemon donut today it was out of this world. We have not tasted one like that before.

Great food, but I always feel very uncomfortable when visiting. It’s small inside, there’s a strange atmosphere & I’ve never found any of the staff very welcoming. I’ve visited twice and have felt incredibly awkward on both occasions, despite being a very sociable person. Perhaps it’s because I’m not a regular? If staff were friendly and had greater customer service experience, it’d be much improved.

Called here late Tuesday morning. The hot traditional pasties were very tasty as were the flapjack and ice swirl with a cherry on top. The cappuccino was fantastic. The service was friendly.

Great little independent bakery that provides a wonderful service to the local community. The bread is always freshly baked and full of flavour. Sandwiches are made to order with the filling of your choice. While the cakes and pastries are a dieters nightmare, once tasted almost impossible to resist. It's comforting to see they continue to observe all the necessary measures required for social distancing due to Covid-19.

Small traditional bakers. Good range of breads baked by an experienced baker on offer. Hot and cold pastries and pizza's too. Some lovely muffins, flapjacks and other sweet treats available. They also do a roaring trade in sandwiches and rolls. These are made to order and fillings adapted on request. Absolutely fabulous and very reasonably priced. There is a small restaurant where sandwiches, cakes and drinks are available. The staff are really friendly and welcoming.

Due to covid it has been a long time since I visited castle Cary - I was so pleased that this bakery was still there Put in orders at the door/hatch and they bring things to you They do takeaway drinks in biodegradable cups - so great this will be going in the compost bin and coming up as runner beans in a few years when added to the soil Cheap/reasonable prices

Great experience. First time in Shepton Mallet, and wow the bakery was amazing. Wanted to go back today (Sunday) closed!!! So sad.

Been going there almost every Thursday about 11.am friendly staff and good food .

It's ok I guess. The baked goods aren't great or exceptional..quite bland and tasteless to be honest but maybe that is just my palette ( I must add the chocolate cream eclairs were terrible, horrid choux pastry and awful tasting chocolate topping) The interior is very dated though and a few of the girls serving are a bit of a misery (a smile goes a long way) There are much better bakeries locally (Burns The Bread is one that springs to mind). Denela's is handy if you want something locally but I would recommend going else where if you are after something better or flavoursome.

Fabulous. I even discovered today that each cake has a specific specialist baker to guarantee the highest quality. Also 4 of us just had an eat in cake and drink each and the bill was just over £10.

We often chill out for an hour in Denela's for coffee and cake or a nice filled roll. Staff are very friendly. It's in the middle of the main high street just 100yds from the car park.

Every thing in this bakery is really good. Great staff who will deliver exactly what you want. Food is excellent.

My fourth review on a local business and yes, this gets a well deserved five stars. We buy all of our bread here and it tastes like real bread. We do not but supermarket bread any more. Chealsea buns and doughnuts are to die for. Proper bakery, I hope it never closes!!

We were in the area and it was surprisingly cold, we were recommend this place for a cuppa. There is a great selection of sandwiches and cakes on offer. Hot and cold pies and pasties with iced buns and loads of different cakes and slices all well priced. No toilet which is a shame or I would have given it a five star.

We went there for coffee this morning - they served instant coffee which came with the milk added. When I turned it down saying I don't drink instant and I like my coffee black they returned with another coffee complete with milk which I also refused. They then appeared with a black coffee. It was awful and I left without drinking it, but did pay. My husbands Millionaires shortbread met the OK standard. Would not return.

Rolls freshly made to order by really friendly staff. 3 tables up the step to sit in and have a cooked breakfast if you prefer.

Popped in for a coffee after a long journey. The staff were all very pleasant and the Chelsea bun to go with the coffee was really nice and very fresh. They were very busy, which is not surprising as the selection af snacks and cakes were outstanding.

This a complete gem. The iced donuts were given A* and the custard slice was equally good. Excellent value as well.

I have visited this place on a couple of occasions with friends, and now I know how to add things on to trip advisor and publicise them in the best way possible. I stopped with 2 friends and had lunch, and the prices were very modest and there are 3 tables seating up to 9 people, as well as sandwiches, they served jacket potatoes, as well as the delicious cakes that were on display on the shop window. tea and coffee are also served and also they do take away stuff as well You can either order at the counter or they will take your orders and pay on the way out. Would well recommend and hope to be back in due course
