Visited here at Lunchtime and had the Full English with Coffee, The Food was nice and well cooked as was the other meal we ordered. Good value for money with two Breakfasts with Coffee coming to £20. The Venue also has a great selection of Cakes, a lovely French Cafe with table service and a nice setting

Four of us had full English which was OK, but when we came to pay the cashier said my payment hadn't gone through and could I swipe again , it transpires I paid twice , I have written asking for a refund ,it could have been an honest mistake but have no reply, check your receipts everyone, maybe a bit of a scam going on.

This is the second time I’ve ordered from this place and both times have been horrendous experiences. The first time, 18 months ago the way the takeaway food had been served was so bad that the beans had burned through the cheap polystyrene box and melted it all over the food making it inedible. I thought I’d give them the benefit of the doubt today as I really fancied a breakfast but I truly wish I hadn’t as todays treat was some dirty red plastic in my grub which looked like jewellery or some kind of ornament, neither of which should be around food prep areas. This cafe is an absolute disgrace and health and hygiene need to get in there as this is unacceptable. I nearly swallowed said dirty piece of plastic jewellery/ornament and feel sick after having it in my mouth.

We had been on a stag do the evening before and were in desperate need of a full english breakfast in our hangover state when we stumbled upon this cafe. It looked promising from the outside, and whilst slightly dated inside, had a pleasant feel and atmosphere to it. That's where the positives end. We firstly had to request service from the front of the cafe as they seemingly forgot about a group of 8 people? We ordered 6 all day breakfasts (a very simple order) with a variety of different coffees. The coffees arrived, 2 of them sent back for being the wrong ones. When the breakfast arrived, the quality of food was awful - One of the breakfasts was missing eggs, 2 of them missing tomatoes and neither of them had butter on any of the toast. The chips were straight from the oven and the quality of what food that turned up was generally poor. By the time we'd finished 5 of the breakfasts, our final 6th order arrived - 10 minutes later than the others! This one literally had slices of bread instead of toast, again with no butter. Coffee tasted burnt. This cafe does not seem well enough equipped to cater for an all day breakfast and should therefore remove it from it's menu!

Looking for somewhere to stop for lunch and were attracted by the Baked Camembert advertised outside so went in. Unfortunately it was a massive disappointment with the cheese having been over cooked to make it nearly rubbery. We also ordered the afternoon tea which when it arrived I was quite impressed with as it combined French and English items into a great fusion, unfortunately again the food quality let it down. The tarte aux fruits and Custard Slices were very rubbery and seemed a little old. The scone came without Cream (we did get Jam after asking) the chocolate milkshake was also poor. We had tea and coffee which was average, so it was shocking that this turned out to be the highlight of Lunch. But the place is highly rated so I guess it could just be a bad day, but with all items being bad it must have been a very bad day.

Staff were friendly, but to say the places wasn't even a quarter full, we had to wait over half an hour for our food. I ordered a mozzarella and tomato salad which I was really looking forward to but when, finally, it arrived, it consisted of 60% iceberg lettuce, half a salad tomato, sliced and a small portion of the cheap sliced mozzarella (rather than the fresh white variety). Very expensive - can't remember actual price, but was around the £9 mark. My iced peppermint tea arrived Luke warm, as it was hot peppermint tea, with ice in to cool it down. So not really iced tea.

The Delices des champs is located near the Lower Gardens, in the centre of the town and a short distance from both the promenade and shops. This café is unpretentious. It has a good menu which includes: cooked breakfasts, baguettes, croissants, paninis, ciabattas, crepes, and salads etc. The French breakfast comprises two scrambled eggs, smoked salmon, cream cheese on a toasted brioche - £7.50. My husband and I always find an excuse to pop into this café on a weekly basis, as the coffee is just about perfect and the freshly-baked pastries are a real treat. In contrast to so many chains, you don't have to stand for ages at a counter waiting to be served with a large mug of tasteless, expensive coffee. Just ask for a regular-sized cup, which is more in the style of a real French café.

Ordered a takeaway baguette of chicken breast, mayonnaise, which I thought came with some salad and it included a soft drink for £4.44. When giving £5 tom pay for it the young assistant asked if we had the right change as they had virtually run out. Although we could do this to being a penny short, she insisted we give her additional monies which she will give us change for. Having collected the sandwich and opening the it some time later, it transpired that it was no more than a white baguette spread with butter with four little pieces of chicken inside. Not good value for money and as a local will certainly be avoiding the place in future.

Have been visiting this establishment for some years now, but it has gone downhill and needs a refurb.Check out the toilets before you eat here.Food is looking overpriced and badly presented. Asked for a toasted teacake, but was served barely warm and nowhere near toasted. Waitress was foreign and looked at us with a blank face when we complained. They also break the golden rule and produce the bill before we have finished and we didnt ask for it. Complete No No.!! Cakes in the window look and taste good, but that's about it. Find somewhere else or go home and save the money.

I have visited this café on many occasions, and still I like it but somehow it is looking now a bit tired, and would benefit from a bit of TLC. It really needs some refurbishment now in order to compete with the other French café in town.

We had a coffee here a couple of weeks ago and enjoyed the atmosphere so returned again yesterday for brunch. We were welcomed and seated on arrival and were soon ordering large coffees and croque monsieur. The style of the café is certainly in the French style we remember from our trips to Caen and St Malo. Our coffee and food were both really good and tasted just right. Prices here are very reasonable and we couldn't fault the service and friendliness of the staff especially as it was so busy.

Have been going to this restaurant for years. Always first class. But over the Christmas period it was extremely busy and our wait for food was rather too long! I had to ask where it was. I think more chefs should be employed over the busy periods to keep their customers happy. When our soup did arrive it was delicious and well presented. Staff efficient and very polite.

Always visit when in town. Salami with mozzarella and sun dried tomatoes panini is lovely. Good value for money. Bought some pastries to take away and the pastry base was delicious Highly recommend

Went here on a busy lunchtime for coffee and cake, very nice little place. Fast pace, great friendly service with a smile, decent cake at a reasonable price - can't ask for much more than that.
