Delhi Spice Indian Takeaway in South Hams

This takeaway has not been open for several months now. New owners took over the business, renaming it and then after a few months, they seem to have disappeared. No signs on the door, there's been no indication of re-opening and the owners haven't been seen. One former member of staff has said that they have permanently closed but this is unconfirmed.

Delicious! Quick delivery. Piping hot! Saag Panner specifically yummy! Will be back.

We collected 2 mains, 2 Sides and a portion of onion bhaji - i thought it was pricey for what we had (£38) and menus were misleading i.e. it states 20% discount if ordering on app, we downloaded app but then it wouldn't let us register, kept saying e mail address wasn't recognised, tried mine and the missus's and wouldn't accept either. Menu also states 10% discount for collection, didn't get this so when I asked I was told no thats just for Internet orders????

True Indian takeaway food of the finest order! Speedy delivery and friendly service. The best curry house in Kingsbridge.

Visiting on holiday and was actually intending on visiting another Indian restaurant in town but with a young baby we decided it'd be easier to pick something up to bring home - luckily Safa was around the corner and we were so glad we found it as the food was excellent! We returned soon after on the same trip. It's a fairly inconspicuous, takeaway-only joint but it's perfect if you're looking for a quick collection (or I think they deliver if you're a bit further away) and there was absolutely no compromise on quality. Every dish was very tasty. Run by a friendly family too. Definitely worth stopping by.

The food is really hot, fresh and tasty; when I got it home it felt like it had come straight out of the pan. Run by lovely people who are very accommodating, will definitely be returning.

Ordered for first time tonight. Excellent food and service, delivered within about 25 minutes. Highly recommend.

I've had food from Safa twice now. The menu has several options that are not standard to other BIR restaurants and are more authentic in flavour. The meal I had last night was exceptionally good and I would have no hesitation in recommending them. The 'king prawn delight' with large juicy prawns, a thicker sauce, and aubergine was delicious. The Rajestani chicken curry is a hybrid BIR/authetnic dish with tomato, mustard, and a slight tang of ginger to finish. The tarka dall is well seasoned. Even a simple dish like channa massala was more flavoursome with a softer texture compared to many other places I've been to. I love the other local restaurants too, but these guys should be on your radar if you haven't tried them yet.

I see the other reviews, the manager is a joke. This place is the worst indian that I have ever eaten in the Netherlands, Australia, Germany, Britain and the USA, it is the worst. STAY AWAY it is revolting.

2 stars is rather generous for this experience. I ordered a few curry’s and some sides from the website. It arrived an hour late and was stone cold. I just put it the fridge and threw it out a couple of days later. The delivery driver said nothing and certainly didn’t apologise for the fact it arrived at bed time. Disappointed by the service and the food was very average. This has happened a few times before with this curry house. I was wrong to give it another chance under the new management. Brahman would be disappointed in you.

Terrible customer service we ordered the food online at 7pm. 2.5 hours later and 3 phone calls still didn’t arrive. We were told it was only 10 minutes away. Shocking customer service and very disappointing. Left a sour taste before it even entered our mouth. Avoid unless you want to be messed around food was mediocre at best.

We use this restaurant most weekends and are always very happy with the delicious food. Staff are always very helpful and friendly when we phone, even when they’re obviously busy. We always have our curry’s delivered and the service is always prompt. 😊

Whle waiting for my takeaway, I was appalled at the aggressive, abusive, bullying nature of the proprietor towards one of the members of his staff - a young lady. Additionally I was told that they had incorrectly totted up my bill and I now owed an extra £25 - when I got the takeaway home, one of the curry dishes had been put in the bag on its side and half the ingredients wer slopping around the bag. The meal itself was at best average. Never will I go back here again - Kingsbridge has much better options to choose from - AVOID

Ordered on the phone the elderly male on the phone had no knowledge of the menu or the chefs dishes. My order came wrong I phoned up to be told tuff luck never again

We ordered a delivery from JustEat and had the chicken & prawn special curry and a Korma with rice, chips and a nan. My special curry had a lot of water around the edge of the plate which leads me to think frozen ingredients were used. Also the chips were french fries which was very strange.

Again, absolutely superb. Tried the new ordering system and it was so simple and straightforward. Our family meal was excellent and I highly recommend the Delhi Spice.

With so many good reviews we thought it would be great. Sadly the food did not meet expectations. I realise that with Indian food taste is very personal but to me the flavours were a little bland.

Our usual go to place when we are on holiday in Devon.Just gets better every time, tried a few different things this time and I can highly recommend the Chasni and the Fatema Special. Absolutely fantastic.Quick delivery, piping hot and friendly staff.Thanks again!!

We’ve had a few takeaways from here in the last couple of months and we haven’t been disappointed once. The korma is absolutely amazing and my partner’s set meal for one is always delicious too.

We regularly use Delhi Spice, great value, good food, good service and always very polite. We had a takeaway last night from here food was lovely, delivered free, free poppadoms and too much for the three of us for £26.00. Always good but last night's was excellent!!

We found this indian takeaway and asked if we could eat it in the shop which had two couch as we had nowhere to eat it. Mohammed the Chef accommodated us and even put our balti prawn curry on a plate! Now that is excellent service. I would truly recommend this place for its customer service and the food was great.

Food from here is delicious and hot . Well worth a try . We order on line as well as by phone on occasion. Always delivered on time by polite member of staff

The best Takeaway around! Amazing food, great service not a bad word to say! We used to live in Kingsbridge and this was our go to (after trying all of the takeaways!) and now when down on holiday we can’t wait to order one and it never disappoints! Would highly recommend!!

We needed some food before a visit to the cinema in Kingsbridge following the Christmas market and so pleased we went with our gut instinct. Four of us chose very different mains and we were really pleased - delicious. Will definitely order again on our next visit. Sag paneer simply delish

Once again, we visited this lovely part of Devon and returned to our regular Indian Take away. We had a large order and everything was perfect, delivered on time, cheerful friendly staff and as always we will always come back to Delhi Spice!

This is my former curry house of choice in Kingsbridge. Not any more.

I have regularly (once a month or every other month) used Delhi Spice & until tonight have never had a problem, however this has changed. I placed an order through Just Eat at approx 16:30, they start delivering from 17:45 so on the app said delivery by 18:05,a 18:35 it was delivered after phoning the restaurant which was just a crackly line. when it was delivered it was COLD & probably the worst Indian takeaway I have had, especially from them. I complained on the Just Eat Chat & they were as much use as a chocolate fireguard. Looks like Chinese or Pizza from now on as feel never want to use them (Delhi Spice) again.

On holiday in the area having looked at reviews decided to chance Dehli Spice for a delivery. Good choice!Madras chicken was perfect heat,Chicken Shashlik good quality,all in all a good meal. Only downsides were the popadoms weren’t as crispy as they could’ve been and bit skinny on the salad and dips with our starters. But would definitely order next time we visit.

Excellent tasty food, delivered quickly and all piping hot. Chicken pakoras to die for, will definitely be ordering from these guys again.

Authentic, home cooked traditional Indian cuisine. Very nice to have a variety of new Indian dishes to try rather than the standard British version.

We have been regular customers of Delhi Spice for ten years, I feel I must respond to some of the negative reviews on this site.

We had a lamb pathia and the chicken tandoori chilli garlic masala, lamb dish was okay, but the chicken dish was very disappointing (try to find the chicken) so it that's one of the house specials not good!!!!

Very thin gravy, unusual tastes for madras and pasanda, wouldn't go back, should've read the other reviews more!

I have been visiting Devon for many years and tried many different curry houses. Delhi Spice in Kingsbridge is the one that I always return to. Superb food, fast delivery and the staff always treat me like family. Nothing is too much trouble. They always remember me and even remember my preferences. The personalised touch is very rare these days. I wish Mo and the team every success and will see you at Xmas when I return.

Came down for a family.holiday in July.there was 9 of us. We decided to order from the Delhi spice after seeing a leaflet in our holiday home we decided to give it a go. Just over 2 hours.for a delivery when we was told an hour?! The curry well I don't even know where to start with this one. Chicken overcooked and tasted burnt. The sauce was a funny colour. We refused to eat it as it didn't smell appetizing either. Onion bhaji crispy and heavily.overcooked too. I don't see how this is possibly if they are cooked to order ? They are obviously.cooked twice there's no denying that and you can see from the photos. Nothing but disappointment. When we visit again we will not be returning. Save your money and.go elsewhere.

Everyone was lovely and the food was tasty, a good atmosphere. A nice warming meal to end the day :)

We are on holiday in Bigbury and decided to request a delivery order.

I called to change a dish from garlic prawn to tandori prawn ten minutes after we ordered it over the phone to be told it wasn’t possible as it had already been made. I added the tandori prawn on instead and rather than taking our bill for food to around £50 and just charging us £60 all in for delivery and food as £60 is minimum order they insisted on charging us £70.

Ordered online at 17:30 for 19:00. Order was automatically pushed back to 19:20, called the restaurant at 19:30 and they were just packing it. Finally arrived at 20:38. Order was short by over £10 of food. By the time we noticed the driver (who also had a nice 100% delivery tip) was gone. Called the restaurant with little redress. So, at now past 21:00 (we waited as they said they would ask him to return) the family had a small meal for the price of a large. Received an apologetic call at 21:25 - ‘sorry it’s been one of those nights’.

After travelling up on holiday from Surrey, and originally from Portsmouth , I know a thing or two about Currys, this place is certainly worth a visit,

Always tasty dishes with fresh vegetables and cooked to order rather than something pre-prepared and swimming in ghee. Delivery is always prompt. Favourite Indian food in the area.

Recently on holiday. Had a meal for 5 delivered. The whole process from my telephone order to a very helpful man to our on time delivery 10 miles away was superb.

This meal could not have been worse in my opinion. If I had not been on holiday in the area I would have taken the lousy food back and demanded a refund !

Excellent curry. We ordered for 8 adults and paid an extra 5 pounds to have delivered as we were about 40 mins round trip down country lanes. We are a group of holidaymakers who have attempted to order curries on holiday elsewhere in the past and there's always been something wrong. However the order was spot on from this restaurant and every one of us was very happy with our meal. Thanks very much!!!

The curry I ordered came with little to no chicken in. The bag of chips had a strand of black hair in them and were also cold and hard as if they had given me an old batch or something. The Nan bread was very tasty and so was the rice. Food and quality needs to be improved in order for this to be a 5/5. Quick delivery.

We are regulars at the Delhi Spice, because of the quality of the food and the very personal and high-quality service. Tonight, we popped in to treat ourselves to one of our regular dishes (Fatema's Special & a host of extras)... While we waiting, the owner Mo treated us to his latest addition to the menu, the Chicken Tikka Chasni which was delicious and we will definitely be ordering that in the near future. I cannot praise the place enough!

We were told 1 hr for delivery however food took 2 hours to arrive! Food very expensive for what it was and a £10 delivery charge! Food was lukewarm when it arrived and of poor quality. We ordered poppadoms for 8 and 6 starters and were given 1 very small bag of salad and 2 tiny pots of raita and sauce to share between them. One item was a Special Balti which should have had a variety of mixed meats - it had 3 pieces of chicken and 1 prawn in it. When we phoned to complain staff were extremely rude and unhelpful. They have a bit of a captive market being one of only a few Indian takeaways in the area but we would recommend you go elsewhere. Would give no stars if I could.

I've been ordering from this takeaway for years, their food is of excellent quality. Their staff are pleasant and friendly, if you have any questions the chef is the first to answer.I've never had any cause to complain about their delivery drivers, for they are friendly, helpful and curtious. My delivery orders have always been delivered promptly,if for some reason my order is late the delivery drivers are very apologetic, and explain why they are late, for example they are very busy.I will continue to order from this takeaway.Keep up the good work guys.

Firstly, I cannot understand how on earth this delightful take away has received negative reviews?I have enjoyed their food food for many many years and never had a problem.The food is excellent and my family and I have had numerous different dishes.Delivery is always on time and the drivers pleasant and cheerful.When I collect, the staff are always friendly, informative, knowledgeable and cheerful.And not forgetting the cost, similar establishments are a lot more expensive and the food is certainly no better than Delhi Spice!Keep up the good work, you are very valued in the community.

This was the worst Indian take away I have ever had. We waited over and hour for our food and when it came there were hardly any sauces and the special curry (supposed to include several meats) was watery and had barely anything in it with no variety in meats. When we called to complain the worker was extremely rude and unaccommodating. Do not buy from this take away. Nasty curries and rude and nasty workers.

We popped in for a takeaway and asked for a "Chicken Tikka Chasni", a dish common in Scottish takeaways - it wasn't on the menu, but fortunately the chef knew the dish and made us the best we have ever tasted! It was so fresh. If you like milder, sweeter sauces - ask for this- you won't be disappointed!Will definitely return! Thank you.

Bowls of sauce with hardly any chicken, tasteless and dishes not as described on the menu.The other Indian takeaways in Kingsbridge are far superior.

We use their delivery service almost every week, and have done so for nearly 3 years. They are helpful, friendly and even when busy, they try to be patient.The food is always very tasty, and on the few occasions I've been in to pick up its been a pleasant surprise...the kitchens are on full view (always a good sign) and the chef is like a wizard on those searingly hot ovens.Note - this is not a restaurant, but a takeaway only - no seats or tables.Dishes are as you would expect - in other words hot is hot, mild is mild - the breads are beautiful.

Always a good standard of food, however the last two times that I have ordered the restaurant has completely disregarded my time request. The food arrived 45mins early resulting in nobody being at the house and the food going cold.

Always used this take away and its always been lovely. But we had a meal on the weekend and its was awful.It was a take away and delivered, when it arrived it was cold the bread tasted like it was from the previous night or frozen plus it was wrong! The curry was bland and the chicken in mine and my partners tasted like it was the present frozen chunks of chicken.Very dissapointed and we had bad stomachs the next day!

Whilst visiting Kingsbridge we picked up a great little Indian meal from Delhi Spice. Very tasty food with a complimentary pickle tray. Food was cooked very quickly and tasted great. Would highly recommend Delhi Spice.

I love a good Indian takeaway and this has to be my favourite. Such wonderful flavours and food which seems more wholesome than many curries. My whole family loves it.Service is brilliant and the delivery service is reliable and friendly. Generous portions and the food stays really hot which isn't always achieved with other delivery services. Fab!

Ordered via telephone. Food was delivered withing the promised hour - we are 6 miles away. Food was hot when delivered and was perfectly prepared. Portions were generous - meal for two was plenty.

Lovely Curry and being from Birmingham would like to think I've tried my fair share. Don't take card though which must be the only establishment in the western world that doesn't these days. Also got back to our holiday cottage 7 miles away only to find part of the order missing which was disappointing. That said, Curry was lovely and recommended

We tried this takeaway because it was only a few minutes walk from our holiday home and we are lazy. We got lucky though. Staff were helpful and very friendly but most importantly the food was terrific and very reasonably priced. We come from Edinburgh where we are spoiled with excellent Indian & Bangladeshi restaurants and takeaways. The Delhi Spice could easily hold its own back home. It's a pity we are only here for a week!

REally enjoy delhi spice and their menu. Bombay Aloo is fab and so is their chilli masala, amongst others - we regularly change our dishes and have not been disappointed. Only point to add is that if you order on a friday or saturday night you are waiting a LONG time for food (over an hour), I also think the quality is not as good as they may be rushing to get all the orders out. It's great that you can order online with hungry house too, but please take off the delivery charge if we are within reach?! It seems to work out more expensive ordering online..... Friendly service and yummy Indian!

Must order from the Delhi spice as the food is top draw, portion sizes reasonable with prices to match.Food was delivered hot and in good time and i have no hesitation in recommending this superb takeaway if you are in the Kingsbridge area.

If I'm getting a takeaway curry, there is no other option in my mind than the Delhi Spice in the Kingsbridge area. The flavours in its dishes are so much bolder than its competitors. The Kurma is by far and away the creamiest I have ever had and the specialty dishes such as Phaal and aroma chicken and phenomenal. The only downside is that you can't eat in!

Travelled over 300 miles for holiday near Knigsbridge and the first thing we did was stop here after seeing other ratings. Perfect in everyway, cooked freshly to order, the right amount of heat for a Dansak and friendly staff. The only disappointment is that they arent based where I live. Will definitely call in here again when holidaying in this area.

On a break down in Salcombe last week and it was emptying it down with rain outside so we thought we would stay in an order a meal. Found a menu for the Delhi in our cottage so we proceeded to order a Karahi Chicken for me and a Chicken Dhansak for the missus etc. Food arrived within the hour, nice hot and tasty and of a good portion size. A couple of free popadoms thrown in would of been nice like most good take aways seem to do but apart from that a good take away and we will probably use it again when in the area...

The service was friendly and the chef gave us info as he cooked the meal in front of us. My husband is from Birmingham and he said it was the best curry he'd had since he left Birmingham 13 years ago - high praise indeed!I cannot praise this meal and the staff enough. It also cost about half of what I usually pay at home and we had extras thrown in, such as populations and chimneys etc.We were on holiday for only a week but made sure we had a revisit before we came home.I really cannot recommend highly enough- EXCELLENT.

The whole family enjoyed the Delhi Spice Take Away Indian meal, certainly one of the best Indian take aways I have had.

Just finished a take-away from the Delhi Spice after becoming disenchanted with our regular take-away. It was delivered very quickly, was piping hot, very good quality and good value. No complaints at all.

The best take away ever! We asked for a 6:30 collection and it was being packed up as we arrived. It was sooooo delicious. Would it be wrong to open a restaurant .........
