Deer Park in Leeds

Really bad. No Christmas atmosphere. No crackers etc on the table, soup starter was cold. No spoons, mains burnt peelings of veg. Dry meat. No gravy. Just really bad.

Food was amazing and Fletch was more than accommodating. Great staff and service all around. Would deffo recommend to anyone.

We went on sat 7th Dec 2024 for our extended family christmas get-together together. The food was really lovely,the staff looked after us impeccable particularly Beckie( thank you so much Beckie). We had young children with us the staff were very thoughtful not making them wait for there meals. The staff were attentive and really friendly. Thank you Deer Park. All the McQuillens

Waited over an hour for our food, never came, sat us in a room that was clearly entertaining a private party (not awkward at all!) poor from start to finish

Oh Dear Park! We are regular visitors to the Deer Park - by regular I would say at least twice a month with friends. It used to be a warm, friendly, welcoming place but in recent months this has sadly changed. We booked a table last week but were called on the evening to say that the heating was not working; this seems to happen regularly, so we rebooked for a week later ( last night). We called to check the heating was working and were told it was. On arrival the restaurant area was cold, we asked if more logs could be put on the nearby fire, which had died down but was told it would take a while for it to heat up, it did heat up but not for long. There was no evidence of any other heating on. We waited for nearly half an hour to be asked what we would like to drink, observing staff standing in a corner chatting and when the order arrived it was wrong, my medium glass of wine arrived as a small glass, the waiter offered to take it back but having waited so long I took the small glass. We waited again to be approached for our food order. The waiter was new and friendly but clearly inexperienced. Two of us just ordered main courses and another decided to go for the three course Festive menu. The food was mostly fine, my Seabass was not particularly hot, the Fish and Chips and the soup and Turkey dinner all good, although took a while to arrive. By the time we had finished eating, ( with my coat on again, as the fire had gone out and no one offered to put more logs on. N.B there is a note asking that diners do not put logs on themselves), it was about 10pm - we had arrived at 7.40pm! We hadn't been asked if we would like dessert or any more drinks. The festive menu included a dessert so, we called over the waiter to ask if we could order. The waiter went to the kitchen and returned to say the Chef had finished and wasn't preparing any more food. I said that the menu offered three courses and he just shrugged. We asked for the bill, nothing had been deducted for the missing dessert. We were cold, disappointed and no one really seemed bothered. We paid up, couldn't be bothered to argue and also, for the first time in many years declined to leave a tip!

Went here for my 60th birthday and we loved it, the staff were very friendly and professional. The food was good quality and very tasty we also liked how lovely the restaurant looked. The overall experience was a great way to celebrate my birthday and I look forward to visiting a lot more now.

First time to visit The Deer Park and it won't be our last. A lovely comfy place to eat with family. Top notch food too. I had the steak and malbec pie, beautiful! Warm welcome, pleasant staff, nothing too much for them. The toilets must be the cleanest pub toilets I've ever seen. Compliments to the chef, staff and management. One little tip for people like my sister. Add a little note stating that the registration keypad is in the bar, not on the wall outside :)

Nice, busy, warm vibe when we arrived, let down by disappointing roast beef Sunday dinner, which was tepid at best, and I found the sirloin quite stringy. Ordered the £12 medley of sides which were terrible, ordered mainly for the cauli cheese, most of it got left. Finally to round it off the yorkshires were like cardboard. Shouldve complained, but apathy rules okay.

Disappointed with our visit for Saturday lunch. Not very busy but understaffed and service was slow, having to find someone to seat us and then pay. Food arrived missing elements from main meals and sides which had to be brought later. Food didn’t match descriptions on menu and was average at best. Not worth the price.

We had a lovely evening out here. We were served by a lovely lady called Amy who was very friendly. The service was great for being out with friends. The pub itself is clean and well kept. Not too bright but neither dull. For a Wednesday evening it was neither dead nor busy so worth recommending going on a weekday evening. The food was delicious. I recommend going. Just make sure you log your car registration at the bar otherwise it's £100 fine for parking. Luckily we knew to do that.

Great food and very speedy service, waitress tabby was accommodating and made for a heightened experienced . All round a great time and will be returning .

Sorry to have to edit this review to bring it up to date... We booked a table for 3 for Saturday 19th Oct for my birthday celebration. No-one was there to greet us and show us to our table. In the end we just sat down at a table and waited .... I ordered the king prawns for starters but the accompanying focaccia never turned up - just 3 over-fried prawns and a slice of lemon, no garnish, no focaccia - not nice!!!!!! We then waited over 40 minutes for the main course to arrive following the starter!!!!! My chicken burger was cold, as if it had been hanging around for a while. It was inedible so I sent it back and had to wait while it was remade. It wasn't great when it did arrive... My son's veggie stew was smaller than a (very small) starter - minuscule - no way could it be classed as a main course (£17.75, too!!)!!! I had a code which had been emailed to me as a birthday treat. I showed the email & code to the server when we asked for the bill. No acknowledgement of it being my birthday!!! Not even a Happy Birthday!!!!! The food was extremely overpriced and the wine was extortionate. Our (extremely expensive) Rioja was no better than cheap supermarket plonk - acidic and unpleasant. A very, very disappointing birthday all in all, so much so I was awake during the night feeling really upset about it.

Friendly and very helpful staff.

Stopped in for lunch and a catch up with friends. The service was very good and the food was excellent,a great overall experience.

Had one pint. Then left. Nice pub, I thought. Tasty beer, I thought. Friendly staff, I thought. Then today, the £100 fine for USING THE PUB CAR PARK even though I WAS DRINKING IN THE PUB came through. And you can't complain to the pub. You have to email the car park firm. Utter disgrace. In a time of financial crisis, when we chose to spend our hard-earned in an establishment, we expect to be thanked, not fined.

The waiter was so accommodating friendly, chatty and offered suggestions and advice.

We had a lovely family meal here with our young kids - the service from Matthew and Tabby was excellent, really friendly and attentive. We'll be visiting again

Delicious food, service not up to usual standard as short staffed on the day. But overall a wonderful experience.

It took 20 minutes before we were taken to our table - it was a party of 11 which included a 94 year old lady (no offer of seat beforehand). Clear that there was not enough staff on. The waitress we had did the best job she could but she needed support when service food. Resulting food was luke warm at best (particularly the roast dinners) Few items forgotten and had to be reminded to the serving staff. Drinks took a while to arrive but clearly not enough staff on the bar. Disappointed to say the least, particularly when I have been in the past and treated to a great experience. Just to reiterate, the waitress we had was lovely and doing the best she could within the constraints given - down to poor management in my opinion. Will be a while before I visit again for food I am afraid.

Food was good but waited over 90 minutes for meal to be served . We arrived to sit down at 7.30 and the meal didn’t come until 9.10pm which spoilt the evening as we didn’t have time or wanted a dessert at such a late time . When the meal came it was without the sides we had requested. I was half way through my steak before the sides appeared. Such a shame as the food was good, but spoilt the evening for me .

Not the cheapest, but British food at its best with great service to boot.

Have enjoyed eating at Deer Park previously but was disappointed today. The restaurant was so cold. The food was somewhat disappointing - my chicken looked delicious bit it was rock hard. The chips and veg were very nice though.

I played here with 'The Flashing Blades,' every Sunday 1998-2005. The pub has changed the decor since. Top standard bar in all provisions. They pay musicians well, thanks for having us ; Robert Brown, John Wood & the late Brian & Andrew Spencer. Wonderful memories !

Great food for the 2 of us and fantastic value as had one free meal for my birthday. Have been here many times and we are booked in again for 13th September. Always good value deals on throughout the year too.

Amazing meal out at excellent value for money!! We went for the wine and dine for two. This was £100 and included two three course meals with a bottle of wine and the option to switch the desert for a premium cocktail!! Incredible quality food and the service was second to none! Very attentive waitress who loves dogs and babies. Offered treats for our doggo, served our drinks and snacks very quickly and the food was of a high standard (you can tell a good business by the napkin quality!) and friendly service. Frequently visited but first time with our dog in the patio area and wider family. Highly recommended place to visit if you are looking for a higher service than any standard pubs and in a very up market location. Happy Sunday 😎🥳

Visited for Sunday roast and a pint. Food was good and decent portion size. No TT Landlord on unfortunately so had a pint of lager instead. Service was excellent. Millie was friendly, helpful and really enhanced our visit.

Had a lovely time treating the grand parents for a meal out Saturday night. Sticky chicken starter and scallops nice. Mains the sea bass and rotisserie chicken and fish and chunky chips tasty choices. Must leave space for the chocolate brownie. Thanks guys for a nice evening

Myself and my daughter visited here recently, the chicken burger was delicious, my daughter had the child’s fish and chips and ice cream and cookie for dinner , Caitlin served us nothing was to much for her! Thankyou so much look forward to visiting again soon :)

When we arrived, we were escorted to our table. When we ordered, I asked for the pizza. We were told that the dough was not ready and had ran out. I ordered steak instead. Service was very slow considering the fact we were the only ones sat inside with only a few people sat outside. Then got our food. Food was really lovely. But then 2 minutes later we saw someone outside being served pizza, after being told there was none left. Then we ordered dessert. It was very overpriced for what we got. Toilets were okay and tap was extremely hot. Won’t be going back again.

Staff were helpful, friendly and welcoming. The menu was interesting and varied giving meat eaters and vegetarians plenty of options, with an upgrade from the usual pub menus. The meals we chose were super fresh and beautifully presented. Really tasty. Would definitely visit again.

Nice Decent Place for Food + a Great Variety of Drinks. Been going here for sometime now for drinks or dining and always enjoy our visit. Last two visits I've noticed that the service was not up to the level which it was before for example staff taking time your order or not getting around you regularly to check up if anything needed also even after paying the bill I noticed that table was not cleared for sometime. Don't know if it was because of the less staff or just in general. The venue wasn't busy either. One thing for sure was that food was once again top notch. I'd definitely keep going here and recommend others to try this gem of a place on street lane.

Waiting staff made several mistakes without any apology or trying to rectify the issue for us and we had to leave without eating. Firstly we had to swap an espresso martini as there was more foam than there was liquid and it came back exactly the same. My partner ordered Coca Cola and the waiter brought out a corona beer. My Sunday dinner main came out stone cold and I had to ask to return it. Again the waiting staff did not apologise for this. When the food came back without the vegetables on the plate, the sides we ordered were then cold and the beef was no longer pink, so the meal had clearly been stuck under an oven to heat it. Then the meal came out with no roast potatoes but were replaced with parsnips. It looked like it had just been thrown onto another plate after reheating but without half the components of the meal. After all this we decided that we didn’t want the meal anymore due to how badly the staff had handled this. One or two small errors is understandable but to have so many across the team (bar, waiting staff, and kitchen) is inexcusable and especially the lack of any kind of apology or enthusiasm to try and sort the situation. They offered no compensation for this other than to take the mains off the bill, and again there still was no apology and they didn’t even say goodbye when we left. It’s such a shame as me and my partner came the week before and had a lovely experience so we only put it down to the staff that were on that day. We also heard two other tables nearby complaining about other things to the staff, so it must not have been just us experiencing problems that day. Never had auch a poor experience in a restaurant, and this was all despite it being a quiet Sunday with not many guests.

This place is going severely downhill, I'm sorry to say. Completely understaffed, filthy and now letting all sorts in. Went last night (Weds Jun 12) and 3 extremely loud and smelly very out of it crack enthusiasts were sat there shouting at everyone & making everyone feel uncomfortable as well as a creepy male regular sat at the bar staring at women. Beer garden covered in broken glass, cigarette butts and drug residue. No glasses collected anywhere for over an hour. Ordered what was described on the menu as "dauphinoise chips" and got chips with chopped tomato and onion?! For a place that models itself as a fine gastropub it's run worse than a Wetherspoons. Get more staff, stop letting the local vermin in and make your other patrons feel safe and comfortable.

Atmosphere was nice for a Saturday evening but we arrived at 6.35 and weren't served mains (only 2 of us, with one person not having a starter) until 8.15pm, and one main was a steak, which was good but the veg it was served with was wrinkly - over cooked and old, not what is expected for a dish costing over £30. We couldn't get the staffs attention for drinks either so ended up ordering a second drink directly from the bar as it was simply faster. Would go again for drinks but will skip the food.

Lovely pub in a nice suburb of the city. Food is nice but pricey. Good range of lagers on tap, choice of draught ale is more limited but good. Drinks are pricey. It can get very busy, but is a nice place to relax with a drink and read the newspaper during the day.

Came here for food on Saturday evening. We were only a table of 2. The wait time was at least 35-40 minutes but we weren’t told there was going to be a wait. The worst thing about our evening was they completely forgot my meal, we ordered 1 started and 2 mains and they forgot about 1 main, having worked in this industry for a very long time I understand mistakes can be made on larger checks but not on a check that had 3 things on it. I left hunger and very disappointed.

A pretty nice pub. It's been done out well and the staff are friendly etc. It is slightly more pricey than some other pubs in the local area, but it also has a very different clientel. Food is good quality. I would recommend, if you're looking for a quick lunch or dinner.

A lovely pub which is the perfect spot to fill up after a walk round Roundhay Park. Myself and 2 friends, along with 2 children headed to the Deer Park for some lunch on a busy Saturday. The service from Reece & Will was excellent and the food was delicious.

Haven’t been here for a while. Came for brunch, asked what gluten free options they had which were none ultimately. They did adapt something but it wasn’t brilliant. It was edible but nothing more. Worst gluten free options in north leeds - needs to improve as it’s 2024. They’re loosing out on the growing no. of people that are gluten free.

Deer Park Leeds is an absolute gem! The atmosphere was spotless, creating a pleasant dining experience. The food was beyond amazing, with the sea bass being a standout dish. It was cooked to perfection, bursting with flavor. The staff was friendly and attentive, making the whole visit even more enjoyable. Had the wine and dine this lunchtime, food was great and with the wine good value. Staff, Abby/Abi and the young man behind the bar whose name I didn't get ( sorry) were very knowledgeable and attentive, sadly lacking in hospitality these days. Will definitely recommend and return.

We had a family retirement party at the Deer Park recently. Gemma the assistant manager was so helpful and went out of her way to ensure the evening was a success nothing was too much trouble! We were able to pre order our food choices which made the evening run very smoothly with no delays The food and service was excellent, everyone in the party commented on what a great venue it was with a lovely friendly atmosphere. Flavio Lucy and Meadow were so attentive all evening thank you!! We will be back.

Always love dining at the Deer Park. Lovely decor, fantastic service. I've never had a bad meal. Roasts are great, steak is superb, puddings are lovely.

The last time we went to the Deer Park was over ten years ago because we had a bad experience. A few weeks ago on a Friday afternoon we decided to pop in as we were walking home from the park. Since then we have gone every Monday and Friday for a couple of drinks with our dog. Our new local again after ten years of not going. We will be trying the food very soon. The staff are great as well. Thanks
