A red velvet experience a short walk from the city centre. Modern Scottish style with friendly and attentive service. Just changed hands but allegedly the staff have all transferred over - they are certainly accomplished and experienced. One of the better places in Perth

Had an incredible meal here with my Mum and brother. Delicious Scallops and Prawns for starter then Juicy Ribeye for main all washed down with a smooth Primativo Red. The staff were attentive, happy and efficient. I came year a while back before it changed and it was good then....I have to say it is Outstanding now! Well done all of you! 5 stars easily.

A few months ago it looked a lot like Deans would close permanently. Thankfully, a new owner was found and the restaurant reopened recently. We've visited a number of times in the past, and were there for the first time after the reopening, at lunchtime on Saturday. I'm happy to say the new Deans is just as good as before. The decor has been updated, but the excellent staff have stayed on and the food is, if anything, even better than it was. We've already booked our next visit.

New wine list excellent. All delivered in much improved surroundings…very smart! So glad we have Deans still in Perth…what an asset.

Enjoyed a very pleasant lunch here Great company, which always helps. 😀 All food was exceptionally well-presented. I felt like I was sitting down to dishes prepared for Masterchef - the serious one. My companion had scallops to start, and the presentation was amazing. A rock concert experience extraordinaire. Even though I don't greatly care for scallops I think I could learn to live them when they arrive like this! Service was friendly and efficient. No cause for complaint at all.

Amazing food and service experience!

I had a wonderful experience at Deans in Perth. The food was brilliantly flavoured and well portioned. My wife and I shared the chateaubriand (cooked perfectly medium rare) and paired a Chardonnay with entree (cheese soufflé which was amazing) and Malbec with the mains. The Malbec matched particularly well. The wait staff were very attentive and were very friendly. They were even happy for us to try to finish all of the the fantastic truffle chips (so sad to have left 5 behind), even though we were the last diners in the restaurant, we never felt rushed. The onion rings surprised me. I’ve ever eaten one that I liked, but these had a brilliant crunch! I don’t actually know how they achieved it. The sauces that accompanied the meal were brilliant. My only comment would be the peppercorn could be a little more peppery. The red wine jus was top notch. Unfortunately we didn't have any space for a dessert. If we make it back to Perth we’ll definitely be heading back to Deans!

First time visit, using an itison voucher, and it was more than worth the trip to Perth. The venue is lovely, warm and stylish. Service was first class and the food was spectacular. The normal tasting menus look great value for money and they offer a kids version, so we’ll definitely travel back to visit again.

Deans is one of our favourite restaurants, it isn't close so it tends to be special occasions we travel through for and the food is always exceptional. They always have options to cater for dietary requirements and the children's menu is brilliant. We hope they find new premises with the end of their lease fast approaching as it would be a great loss to Perth without it.

The food was amazing, like always. We made a reservation for a specific table, but when we arrived, they had given that table to somebody else. We were not offered bread during the meal. The place was packed and very noisy this time.

Outstanding. I've never eaten a better meal- everything I ate was delicious even the things I wasn't so sure about. Service was fantastic.

Went in for lunch midweek, not many other customers. Service was good and food was lovely. Only gripe is there was not enough chutney with the cheese and biscuits. It has a nice atmosphere. Will go back to sit in the bar area and have a cocktail and some bar food. Nice atmosphere, very relaxing. Food was fab.

I can’t say enough great things! One of the best meals and dining experiences we’ve had out in a very long while 😍 Visiting family in Perth and they recommended Dean’s for a nicer meal out. Lovely setting and seating areas and the bartender was unmatched! He made a special mocktail for our son (under 10yo) which was just wow! Layered juices and cotton candy with dry ice for that incredible effect! Kiddo was so thrilled and made to feel very special. Staff were warm and welcoming and all worked seamlessly together. Was very impressive to watch them coordinate their work. The food was outstanding! Portions were perfectly sized and presented so well we were hard pressed to ruin the aesthetics by digging in! I understand why this is our family’s favourite local place for a date night or special occasion. Prices were very reasonable especially for what you were getting. There wasn’t a bite that wasn’t enjoyed. We can’t wait to return for another visit 💜

We traveled all day to get to Deans Restaurant and I would love to say it was worth it. We called to confirm our reservation for seven people earlier in the day and were told they were looking forward to hosting us. When we arrived we were received with hostility and told we needed to wait. We know it’s difficult to accommodate our party, so we understood. Once seated, the young man who took our drink order was very professional and kind. Unfortunately, the woman who appeared to be the manager, Margo, was not! She was rude and abrasive. When we couldn’t decide our order within a few moments she became visibly frustrated. We not only felt like we were imposing, we were unwelcome. We decided to leave and the woman began lecturing our 25-year-old son who delivered the news. My sister respectfully asked her not to lecture our group of adults. She continued to belittle and aggressively address our group. We got up and left, leaving money to cover not only our drinks, but the service of our kind young man. I doubt he saw any of that. We have traveled extensively and never experienced such rude service. STAY AWAY!

Can't put over well enough in words how good this restaurant is, the food is amazing to say the least, the presentation has the WOW factor and the staff were brilliant and engaging, 100% recommend this place

Absolutely fabulous meal here last night. The scallops starter was amazing (see photo) and the venison was so tender it literally melted in your mouth. Loved the black pudding balls. Everything was just perfect. Best meal I've had in years. Will definitely be going back.

Our first visit for bonfire night and wow, really impressed with the quality and flavour of the dishes we selected. Kids enjoyed their menu too and the staff were friendly and accommodating. Really gorgeous food and nice to have a location like this so close to home. We will be back!

Just had a work night out here and absolutely loved it. Staff were friendly efficient and lively but the start of the show was the food. Simply amazing we were a huge booking for a small venue but the night went flawlessly and I heard nothing but the highest praise from my colleagues. Highly recommended.

The in finest Restaurant that it has ever been my pleasure to have frequented, my second visit. The food is a work of art all the Staff are worth their weight in gold.

Have to say the day didn’t go as planned and wasn’t expecting to end up at Deans. Saying that very happy we did. It seems very hard to find a location in Perth that does a Sunday roast. Deans does a great one if I have to say. What to expect a very warm welcome and friendly staff. We were shown to our table not the best as we were seated by the entrance to the toilet. This was a surprise as there was only one other table being used so maybe not the best location was a negative but in the end didn’t spoil the day. Servcs was good was offered a drink when seated then a few minutes later was asked for the food order. This seemed simple but not as easy as you would expect as they take the order as you sit at the table this didn’t work when the starters arrived as I didn’t get what I ordered and didn’t end up eating my one as the order I asked for was given to one of the others and they loved the theatre that went with the food and didn’t want to take it from them. So I missed out as what was ordered for them wasn’t for me. It didn’t go to waste as it scoffed very quickly by the other half as the food was so good. When the mains were served I got my roast beef that was cooked perfectly and tasted great. Only negative was the size of the Yorkshire pudding they were tinny. It was hard to find on the plate. Then again the chicken dish didn’t come with a Yorkshire pudding that he was looking forward to as that is one on the best parts of a Sunday lunch. Might be better if they’d gone to get aunt betty’s. We all enjoyed what we ordered and so happy we ended up at Deans. I will be going back again to try the rest of the food on offer and if as good as what was served today will keep visiting when I visit Perth. This is a must visit if you are in Perth, if today is a sample of what to expect. It can only get better.

The restaurant was recommended to us for having a nice lunch on our sixth wedding anniversary. We before had read some of the previous critical feedbacks on Tripadvisor, reporting for example excessive salt and lacking service, but I can only say: Our lunch was amazing in every respect! The service was excellent and friendly, attentive without being overpowering, and swift, but without making you feel rushed. The food was just wonderful – from the starters to dessert – great quality, varieties and subtleties in flavours, taste and presentation, and this coming also in the right proportions and at a good price. We certainly will be back for another delight!

The restaurant was absolutely boiling and they need to do something about smell extraction from the kitchen as the place was smelling heavily of burnt bacon. They had a problem changing a lager barrel so we waited 15 mins on a drink, then they served the pints in warm glasses so immediately went flat. The service was generally poor, very hard to get their attention. When we finished our meal, we still had cocktails and drinks left, yet they then made us move back to the waiting area as they wanted to get more diners in. The prices were exorbitant, quite ridiculous really. Silver lining was the food was excellent. All started and mains were thoroughly enjoyed. Overall quite disappointed though

I have visited Dean's on many occasions regardless of travelling round trip of 120 miles to dine there! I visited last Friday evening for to celebrate my Wedding Anniversary. The food is always very good quality and presentation and menu always innovative. The service was mixed and one younger member of the FOH team was not up to standard in terms of customer skills and knowledge The last issue was the prices charged for wine and cocktails are very expensive

This place is exceptional! A gem hidden in Perth’s rusty crown!

Excellent meal for our anniversary.

Service was lacklustre, I do not appreciate being greeted by the waiter with a "Hello, young ladies", at the best of times - much less when he's addressing my adult daughter and me. Next server was a very sour-faced woman who clearly had better things to do than take our order or clear away food was OK, but way over-seasoned. Atmosphere was try-hard, with ridiculous prints of classic portraits, with the eyes "wiped out". Trying to be edgy? Just weird and cheap.

Amazing food, I never clear my plate but this meal was incredible! Beautifully presented too! Would give 10 stars if I could! Both waiters were really great and attentive, just a really really great dining experience. Would recommend to anyone! See you all soon!

Today we get full marks for Deans in Perth. By British standards, a great little restaurant with friendly service, clean and very good cuisine. Not everything was to our taste, but the chef put a lot of effort into it and, as we all know, you can't argue with taste. So full marks and our unreserved recommendation.

If you are in the Fair City of Perth and you are looking to impress I recommend Dean's. It is a bit more pricy but the hit in your pocket I am sure you will feel is money well spent. The menu is not huge, I see that as a positive with a professional chef it should result in good quality and well prepared food and it is. I booked on the Web site the response was quick which to me is a must. The service was good but not 5 star the drinks waiter was unable to recite the selection of rums available at the bar. This is an issue to be sorted by front of house. The food was delivered quickly; hot ;and we presented. My group had the sea Brean and the venison. Full marks in that area. One sweet was ordered lemon meringue pie. Again full marks. Put all this into a warm 25c evening was perfect.

Phoned to book for 1 pm and told only had a table at 12.30 pm. Arrived to an empty restaurant and after 3 courses it was only half full when we left. Minor point that there was a limited selection of beer available as they did not have not everything on the menu, fine for larger and pale ales. Cannot fault the food, the cheese soufflé is so light and delectable, the whisky sauce was delicious and I would have loved a smidgen more. The chicken main course was moist and tasty, again served with a beautifully made sauce. However I could not taste the chicken in the crispy confit chicken leg through the amount of wholegrain mustard which was the only thing that spolied the dish for me. (I did mention it). Finished with strawberry creme brule with basil sorbet and realise that basil sorbet is not my thing. Would still recommend as each dish was beautifully presented and expertly made.

My wife and I had a lovely meal yesterday afternoon. Highly recommended. Will return again.
