De La Vies in Sandwell

We decided to try this restaurant after spotting it on the Hagley Rd. It can be a little difficult to find the car park and you might find yourself pulling into the car-wash next door, as we did, but once you find it, there's enough parking. The building is large, with 2 floors and looks absolutely beautiful with a lot of work having gone into the decor. We were greeted by the staff who took us to our table and took our drinks orders. We decided to try a bit of everything from the menu and we weren't disappointed! We were presented with a platter of steaks, lamb chops, shish-kebabs and a host of other assorted steaks (including a beautiful Chateaubriand) which were cooked to perfection. Vegetables and potatoes accompanied the meat dish and they were also beautifully cooked. In the meantime, the owner and his lovely wife came round introducing themselves to the customers and we had a chance to chat with them, which was a lovely touch. Finally, we decided on an assortment of desserts which were also fantastic but by this time, we were all unsurprisingly full! We will definitely be going back here as this is a new favourite of ours!

The title says it all. This is what somebody said that visited with us on the 11th of September, and like me was running to the toilet the next morning. I revisited on the 26th of October, in an attempt to put the bad memory away, however I was not impressed, as much as my Romanian friend tried to make it a better experience. I don't mind the fact that what was 3 courses for £25 is now £30. I can even accept the fact that they no longer serve chips with the steak and you have to pay an extra four pounds odd. So, what was £25 is now nearer £35. The biggest let down yesterday though, was the quality of the steak. One of the reasons I used to frequent the place was for the taste and tenderness of the ribeye. Yesterday, it was tough and I demonstrated to my friend how difficult it was to cut the steak. I was asked if I wanted to order something else, however at the point it's just pointless. I wasn't offered a refund for the steak. The Calamari was nice, as usual, slightly salty if anything and the Cheesecake was amazing. My wife thought the Salmon was slightly overcooked. I have rated three, although I am inclined to go even lower on the strength of these last two visits, because it has been a much better place, when I had nothing but praise for the place and recommended it to a number of people. I am sorry to say that I don't intend to go back.

Absolutely incredible experience at De La Vies last night! It was for a large group of friends who separately have tried lots of the steakhouses in Birmingham and we all agreed this one stands head and shoulders above the rest. Our waiter along with the entire wait staff were so kinda and attentive and couldn’t do enough for us all. The food was incredible and so was the atmosphere. The caprese salad was so fresh and delicious and the calamari was perfect. A group of us went for the steak experience which was stunningly presented and delicious to boot, and my lamb shank was to die for. If you like good restaurants and amazing steak I highly highly recommend a visit!

Absolutely loved this place, as a very romantic feel about the place. Food is to die for, both steak and pasta you to need to try. Staff are super friendly and can't do enough for you. Don;t delay and get there asap you will not be disappointed

We attended de la vies tonight for a birthday meal We did book thru Groupon so im not sure if this made a difference. We had done this before and got a great meal This time around it was awfull A tiny steak and a few potatoes on a plate Steak was chewey waiters didn't want to give us our drink with our meal and was charged 7 pound for a can of guinness

This is our second visit and it’s just stunning, so we visited Sunday lunch time and I must admit I felt really sorry for the team as we were the only customers to start with, a couple of other couples came in shortly after but it deserves to be full all day and night (that’s how good it is). We took advantage of the groupon voucher deal (12oz ribeye and a glass of house wine), for starters we had garlic bread and cheese and I had the gravlax which was tremendous, for mains 2 had theirs with chips and I had the potatoes, again served with a nice side salad and chimichurri sauce. The steaks were cooked to perfection and the house wine is just quality. Unfortunately no space for dessert but the Latte was delicious. The whole place is so clean and tidy and the staff are fantastic, nothing is too much trouble for these guys. Keep up the great work you are amazing!

We have been twice now using groupon, very attentive and friendly staff, nice decor and very clean. Food is amazing, steak cooked medium to perfection, veg also cooked just right, sorry about the glass I broke, will be here again that's for sure.

Had a lovely 20 oz rare ribeye steak here . It was served with baby potatoes and salad. Best steak I’ve ever had. The cocktails are also lovely . Some of the cocktails are 2 for 1. Had a cappuccino at the end which was also lovely and reasonable price at £3.95. Would definitely recommend .

I booked the function room for my 70th birthday party. Not a large group about 20 people. I must say the service and the food was absolutely spot-on. The staff could not have been more attentive as though we did the set menu and food was delicious and vegetarian options were good and the steak was perfect. Thank you to all the team that looked after us, especially Sinead who handles the booking and Duggan, who welcomed everyone and insured the meal was served correctly!

First of all this is the best steak I've had outside of France. Considering this is in Birmingham it is the best steak restaurant around. We went very early this evening. The decor is beautiful. Tables are well spaced out. Service was exemplary and the steak was of amazing quality and cooked absolutely perfectly. A real Birmingham gem. They set a standard that others need to match. Far above Miller and Carter and noticeably better than Fiesta. We will be back.

De La Vies Restaurant Bearwood: Very Strong recommendation! Superb service from Dogan the manager and Elena who looked after us. The steaks were cooked on charcoal by the owner and were out of this world. The crispy Calamari were as good as I have ever had and the Tiramisu was delicious.
