Great Food, lovely people, Lovely Place.

The kebab was overcooked and tough. I couldn't even finish it. The rice was undercooked and tasted bland. Cleanliness: The table was sticky, and the toilet was dirty. Not a pleasant dining experience. I noticed a fly buzzing around our food, which was really off-putting, long wait times and the very rude staff who were not even to clean the table and give us some napkins. In my opinion, it was the worst restaurant I've ever been to, both in terms of the quality of the food, which was really awful, and in terms of the service and the very rude staff, and the food dishes were full of stains, the tables were dirty and sticky, and the bathroom was also very dirty and dirty. She was also a woman, I will never go again

The quality of the food was very low, the staff was inattentive and rude, the service was poor, the tables and dishes were dirty, and I didn't like eating food in such a dirty place at all. The poor quality food, including the rice, was not fully cooked, and the kebab was like rubber, and the buffet food was very bad, there was a long queue to get food, and when it was Amon's turn, only kashm and eggplant were left, and the rest of the food was finished, and the staff did not pay attention. He said that the food is over, as if we were waiting in line for the offering, when the food is over, it was a really bad experience. I will never go to this restaurant again.

Service was very slow and at point couldn’t find any members of staff on the floor. Food was lovely hot and well cooked and presented but our sides were forgotten, by the time we were able to flag staff down the sides came when we were finished. The live music was a nice touch but couldn’t hear him from where we were sitting. I really feel if this place dimmed the lights a little added some mood lighting it would really change the atmosphere of the room as it sounded like a pub. I would go again.

I’ve been waiting to come to this restaurant for so long. My best friend and my sister have recommended it to me on so many occasions. However. After arriving at 830 and having one beer it is 2 hours later and no sign of food. I’ve never experienced a delay like this and I’ve left hungry and bewildered. This is completely unacceptable and has completely ruined my birthday weekend. I don’t write reviews often. But as I walk away from this restaurant I have been compelled to write a negative review so that others can avoid a similar experience. If this is an isolated occurrence I would be happy to return and see if it lives uo to the billing it’s received. For now I am compelled to suggest this is the worst restaurant I’ve visited in 10 years.

Biggest regret !! Never ever go back there even if they pay me to try they food again !! The most disgusting food i have ever taste in my life !! Dont know how they call them self resturant!! Only the nice place nothing good about the food here nothing!! Spent like £350 and all family was still hungry !! And went straight to take away shop after there !!!!! Firstly, be aware there isn't that much parking. We got there and the carparl was full, so we had to find somewhere else and then walk. The food was good but expensive, the chicken wings were red in the middle though, so that did concern us, but we didn't get ill, so they must have been alright. The service was good but just a bit slow, it took us over almost an hour to start getting our starters, but once we had those, the rest was fine.

Came all the way from Leicester as heard so much abt this place…. but shame they don’t really cater much for vegetarians Apart from that the staff are so friendly and helpful and the service was good Definitely recommend more vegetarian options please

Just went in to look around as have not been since before pandemic. Mainly Persian food which looks nice. A lot more expensive than when we used to go. Lovely room upstairs with stage and sound system for entertainment. Friendly knowledgeable staff.

So, i've been to De La Vies twice, and i'm just sharing my own experience. 1st time: Despite having a reservation, we were left upstairs, with no one working front of house. I had to ask a bartender if our table was ready. He said it would be ready soon. 30 mins elapsed. When we got to the table, the food came out promptly, and the staff were friendly. No more issues. 2nd time: again left upstairs, no one working front of house again, so I asked said bartender if our table was ready. He said yes, so we walked downstairs and stood there, just watching the staff walk by, ignoring us. The restaurant was quiet, and we stood there like fools, just watching people eat. I had to approach one of the staff, who then (with a face like thunder) showed us to our table. We then sat at the table for 15 mins with no menu, no one asking if we wanted drinks, until again i had to get up and ask for a menu. A much nicer and helpful member of staff took our order, and again the food came out promptly and was delicious. It's a real shame that the service is way below the standard it should be, and I was told by another customer who eats there often, that when the owner/managers are in, the standard is way higher, but on both occassions i have been to this restaurant, I have been left so disappointed with the poor level of service, especially when the chef is sending out amazing food. I think it's clear where De La Vies needs to improve, because i'm torn on whether I will ever return. I don't want to chase staff down for the bare basics, such as a drink, finding my table or a menu, and i certainly don't want to seee the staff walking round looking angry and uninterested.

A wonderful evening with delicious food

I really appreciate their hospitality. the service and food were perfect. we enjoyed. they had dedicated parking which was awesome. you don't need to worry about your car park. it was my children's birthday, at the end the waitress brought them birthday cake which was very kind. I strongly recommend this restaurant.

Second visit already, best steak in town.

Without a doubt this is currently my favourite steak house in Birmingham. The restaurant is beautiful and comfortable. The staff are very professional, friendly and attentive. The food is all delicious but when it comes to the steaks, all different cuts are out of this world!!! always cooked to perfection and with a delicious grill flavour. All food and drinks are also reasonably priced which makes De las Vies a “must go” restaurant for all meat lovers.

Massively over rated and over priced for a place with only a 3 star food hygiene rating (which i found out after going unfortunately ) steak was probably the worst I've ever had in my life and the attitude of the staff was diabolical when I told them this, not a nice experience at at all.

Having traveled over 4 hours to get to Birmingham to eat at De La Vies I was met with huge disappointment. I had heard so much hype regarding the steak but as you can see from my pictures, there needs to be less tambourine playing and more tomahawk cooking, well I ordered a medium rare but was given overcooked steak. We waited over 2 hours to get my food, I entered the restaurant at 7:30 and am currently still sitting here waiting for my dessert and it is now 10:30

Me and my partner rarely get date nights together but love cooking and good food ourselves. We have been recommended repeatedly by friends to try and was told to use a groupon voucher over and over again. Absolutely blown away by everything tonight and cannot wait to come back. The food, service, drinks and building is amazing but particularly Gabriel made us feel so relaxed and the food is as good as we’ve had in a long time. Booked a birthday meal for our 14 y/o son. The food and wine were exceptional. The 16 oz rib eye steak was cooked to perfection and the lamb (Barg) again, perfect. The sides and starters were all top quality. All helped by our attentive waitress, Sinead who looked after us perfectly and took time to help with recommending food and items from the sweet menu. The candle in the tiramisu for his birthday was really thoughtful. Thank you De La Vies for a perfect evening, particularly Sinead. We will definitely be back soon.

The price is 1000% different from their advertisement. According to their advertisement, I went to buy it and it was good, he told me It was an advertisement that we also have Maflan food, so if it was for advertisement, why are you paying the price?

I went to this hotel with my step-son. I got a voucher from a groupon and it was a very nice food. I would think this is the second best steak that I've had in years. The only thing about service is that I had to prompt them for a drink that I had ordered, and when and when I did my dessert you had to prompt. But the tiramisu was big... It was yeah I liked the tiramisu It was really really nice and it was moist so I really did like that.

Amazing Persian restaurant in Smethwick, Birmingham with great atmosphere and approachable staff. The staff were happy to only give us a menu, but to let us create our own items add/remove things we didn't want in our meal. It was so nice to order our own customised meal.

Our 2nd visit here, service, food and drinks all fabulous, initial greeting vey polite and friendly. Seated straightaway, menus brought over and given time to choose from menu. Drinks brought over in good time, food order taken in good time. Food brought out, cooked perfectly and as we ordered. Checked twice to see if everything was ok, which it most definitely was. Ordered steaks, 3 sides, 2 sauces and an extra drink. All perfect. Left feeling happy and not so full we felt ill. No room for dessert, but I don’t order anyway, as I don’t have a sweet tooth. Fabulous from start to finish, Great value

Had a very nice meal last night, the steak was cooked perfectly. Sinead who served us was lovely and looked after us really well.

Firstly...the food here is excellent, no complaints there, however when paying our bill using contactless we were told by our waiter that the transaction had failed and to put the card in the machine and enter the pin which worked fine. We then discovered the payment had actually gone through twice, we went back to the restaurant and was told the manager was out but a staff member took all our details and a picture of the statement and advised the manager would call us later to confirm the payment had been returned....Needless to say no call. We rang the restaurant several times but phone was never answered and could only get voicemail so we left a message. The upshot is that eventually the bank refunded the payment to us and still not a word from De la Vies. Please check your bank statements as I am sure we are not the only people this has been done to. Will not return as an apology is the least we would expect.

My trip to this restaurant was awful. When I received my food, the waitress never asked how I wanted the shishlik/ shishlig to be made, when i received it, it was cooked nicely on the outside but on the inside there was visibly blood in the middle and the shishlik was pink inside too. I have tried many dishes of shishlik and this is by far no where close to the approximation of what it is supposed to taste like and look like. Usually, the waitress comes half way through to ask how the food is and they didn’t do this at all, I don’t understand how you can train your staff to present food but not to ask how the food is. The salad which was underneath the shishlik was stale and mouldy, I can come to this conclusion because you could see a fungus growing around the salad. The rice felt very stale and it seemed like the rice was placed into the microwave, it honestly didn’t taste right. Due to this, I have ended up in A&E with severe food poisoning. I have seen a previous review of someone saying the same complaints as I have and your response to them is very arrogant. If you are a professional business owner, you should take criticism about the food and service and improve your restaurant as an whole instead of arguing with them. In conclusion, I do not recommend this restaurant at all and by the way I have been to many successful restaurants such as novikov. Also, next time if you want to give a service charge don’t just add it on the receipt as the customer first as some aren’t aware.

- the presentation of the food was rubbish - all of the food was ready made - starting from the starters all the way to the dessert - the shishlik literally had no meat on it, all I was eating on was the bone, it is quite literally a scam - the veg and salad they put under the shishlik was all stale - the rice they made and served into a different bowl was again ready made and stale - ALSO they included a service charge that they didn’t even tell you on the menu or anywhere on their website about - again another scam - they didn’t even cook the shishlik properly, when I cut through it there was BLOOD inside of it and it was very pink - it was undercooked I don’t recommend coming here at all unless you want to waster your money or get food poisoning. Another thing, all the images they are putting on their social media’s and websites are just for show and they edited it from other websites so that they can promote themselves - another scam. Therefore, the entire restaurant is an absolute scam and waste of money! When looking on the image, I thought oh this is a high class restaurant- turns out it is the complete opposite - it is RUBBISH

Absolutely stunning 12oz ribeye steaks infact the best we have had. Even the salad dressing is to die for. Service is impeccable with very little waiting from drinks to mains. The venue is amazing too with lovely touches like the fire we were sat next to and the stained glass windows. If you’re thinking of going we highly recommend

Amazing experience!! We had the Steak sharer, with x4 starters and sides. The steaks were cooked to perfection, absolutely stunning peices of meat. The steak sharer was 3 different cuts, T-Bone, Ribeye and Cheatau Briand, whilst they were ALL really tasty, it was the Cheatau Briand that was the star of the show. I'm coming back but next time I think I'm going to try Cote de Beof... Finally the value is something that you wouldn't get in a city centre steak house. I was really imprressed. Keep up the good work guys! And thank you for such a memorable meal

We ordered Pesian different kebab including joojeh, koobideh, chenjeh. Unfortunately, the quality was not what we expected. Meats were not tender and marinated well. Actually, kebab were tasteless. We will not try it again!

Best steak in Birmingham and the service is always fantastic

14 February , we came to this place by chance and we really liked the atmosphere and the live music , the manager and the girl on the bar were very friendly , there was one table for us , the whole room is full of people and very cool atmosphere . But the food , I've been waiting for my steak for an hour and can't taste it , the waiters are not interested . I don't think I will come here again, it took me an hour to get my steak and after they brought it to me I have absolutely no desire to eat it.

I visited De La Vies on a Saturday evening. We ordered mixed grill for two. Koobideh was salty; the rest were juicy and fine for me (my wife did not like them). The place is nicely decorated, but it was too crowded and noisy not suiting a proper conversation. Some acoustic works may be needed Parking is large but not large enough. The prices r fairly high.

The worst restaurant we have ever been, the kebab had a really bad smell to it, the waiter seemed like hating his job, and they added 10 percent service charge to our bill, even though their service was awful, we wouldn’t be going back there again.

Me and my wife came to the restaurant after making reservations for our 2 year anniversary we were disappointed with the restaurant being fully closed at 8:30 with the closing time being 10:30 without any notice given we were extremely disappointed as this ruined our night let alone the fact they took our money and they haven’t picked up any calls at all or replied to emails, we went to McDonald’s instead :( in all seriousness I would like compensation

I came to this restaurant with bunch of friends last week, everything was great and staff were so helpful. Especially the Iranian girl called Nasim she was so nice and helpful. We ordered 3 kinds of cakes all of them were so delicious and special. Also, the environment was so cozy and beautiful. If I wanna gather together again with my friends definitely will come back to this restaurant.

We went on new year and the staff were good but the atmosphere was hurendous. They let people smoke shisha and vape when there was little young children. Also the food and drinks were to expensive and not worth it.

Beautiful place and excellent food. The lady with the short shoulder length hair was really accomodating. Mains and desserts were particularly great.The only thing I would say the starters are a bit expensive for what it is (3 king prawns for almost £10! And the caprese salad which is vegetarian for £9!) Couldn't fault the service! What a great place in Bearwood!

- The welcome and greet was very pleasant. - There was a misunderstanding in the intial order. This was unfortunate because it resulted in a couple of errors where we ordered lamb chops but received something else instead. After a few back and forths, the mistake was rectified. - The king prawns were not fresh. - The koobide had gone off. We complained. They replaced it and were kind/apologetic. - There was no grilled tomatos or any salad next to any of the persian grilled dishes. This is quite expected in any decent Iranian restaurant. They did eventually bring us grilled tomatos however by then most of us had either finished or were half way through ou mains. - All in all, we were not very happy. Although the senior waitress tried her best to put it right. They also gave us free tea and drinks as a goodwill gesture which we very much appreciated.

Wow, what a place. Top quality cut of steak, perfectly cooked. I can honestly say this was THE best steak I’ve had in more years than I care to remember.

Very mid if we're honest. Upon arrival had to wait to get seated even though we were clearly standing, when we were greeted the server just walked off and we had to basically guess where our table was. Steak was excellent and plentiful with good cocktails but nothing special about the service or sides. Strangley not even given steak knives (...surely that's a standard?). Also even though I was asked if it was a celebration and I said it was my partner's birthday, nothing was done and the moment our forks hit the plate we were met with people clearing our table. No one came to check on us during the meal either. Lovely singer at the time but the establishment definitely seems more about feet through the door rather than customer service. Thanks to the chef for the food though. Personally I'd suggest other places.

Food is ok and staff are pleasant but they don’t serve one table completely and then go to another table, half our table had their food and the other half had theirs half an hour later. I asked for steak knife and said they don’t have a steak knife to cut steak. And it was very cold upstairs. Our table was for 16 people. It seems most of these Iranian restaurants are the same.

This is a beautifully decorated restaurant. On a summer's day it would feel like you are in Tuscany. The service was excellent. Everyone was so friendly. We had a fantastic Rib eye steak. Cooked perfectly. The pistachio cheesecake was simply the best I have ever had, simply delicious. Will definitely be coming back again.

We decided to try this restaurant after spotting it on the Hagley Rd. It can be a little difficult to find the car park and you might find yourself pulling into the car-wash next door, as we did, but once you find it, there's enough parking. The building is large, with 2 floors and looks absolutely beautiful with a lot of work having gone into the decor. We were greeted by the staff who took us to our table and took our drinks orders. We decided to try a bit of everything from the menu and we weren't disappointed! We were presented with a platter of steaks, lamb chops, shish-kebabs and a host of other assorted steaks (including a beautiful Chateaubriand) which were cooked to perfection. Vegetables and potatoes accompanied the meat dish and they were also beautifully cooked. In the meantime, the owner and his lovely wife came round introducing themselves to the customers and we had a chance to chat with them, which was a lovely touch. Finally, we decided on an assortment of desserts which were also fantastic but by this time, we were all unsurprisingly full! We will definitely be going back here as this is a new favourite of ours!
