I recently attended a wedding reception hosted by De Jour. The food was some of the best I have ever tasted, it really blew me away! I wod have happily gone straight back for breakfast the next day if I could have.

What a fantastic meal we all had on Friday evening. Small platters were bigger than tapas but perfect to combine several dishes. Three per person is about right and the menu was helpfully split across meat, fish and veggie, so we balanced it out. We had to share a dessert as we were rather full! Nice creme brulee! We couldn't fault anything we tried, with eight of us trying just about everything. The service was friendly and attentive and we look forward to our next visit!

They had just changed their menu- although the website didn’t reflect this change. Only served ‘small plates’ at an extortionate price £9 for 4 garlic prawns! £8 for a few slices of tomato a bit of mozzarella and the tiniest basil leaf-shocking! The fried cod balls were good but very poor value at £10 for 3. We were the only people in on a Thursday night. No real atmosphere. £27 for a bog standard bottle of Sauvignon was steep as well. Don’t mind paying for good food, but this was poor value, nothing special in terms of taste and dead! Won’t be going again

Booked an early table (6-30) Saturday. Food was really good - beetroot/goats cheese starter and chicken supreme, glass of Merlot very pleasant, service friendly. Sadly we were the only diners in for the whole meal..hard to understand why not more people in there - although it was early. It was quite cold in the restaurant - with soaring energy prices I can understand why many shops, restaurants turn down/off their heating. Certainly worth making a visit for dinner and I'm sure a few more diners would warm the place up too.

Ate here with my partner last night. The food was excellent. Really, really enjoyed my food as did he. However, something quite ridiculous happened. We ordered a bottle of wine. As the young waiter brought it to our table my partner noticed it didn’t look quite full, he watched the waiter pour our two glasses then picked up the bottle and showed the waiter it had less than a third left. The waiter denied it, went bright red and then agreed to bring another bottle. We asked him to open it at the table while we watched (incidentally, this should always happen). He poured two glasses again and surprise, surprise there was way more than a third of a bottle left. This sort of practice makes me so angry, please don’t take your customers for fools.

Pre-theatre meal with friends. Lovely 2 course well priced menu. I tried to replicate one of the delicious dishes and failed hopelessly so need to go back. Great service. Would be good to see more people in there - they’re missing a treat

The service food and table was fabulous all round !!! Highly recommend it for any one to go too for dinner with family or friends

Meal out with friends, the food to be fair was tasty, well cooked and presented however front of house and general professionalism left a lot to be desired, in a difficult time for hospitality this was not quite good enough especially with so much local competition, good food alone is not enough.

I used to love this restaurant when you could get a proper starter and main course - but disappointed with the tapas style dishes now. Small portions of all the same thing. I also missed the Ciabatta you used to get with the garlic prawns - now just mediocre french bread. The Creme Brulee was amazing though.

Had a great meal last night at De Jour. I have been meaning to visit but the old menu was not exciting but the small plates were amazing, lots of tasty food and a jig of sangria to wash it down. Highly recommend a visit, it was very quiet on our visit which was a shame. The staff were so lovely too

We all had such a wonderful time! Rob and team were brilliant throughout. From preparing our menu from our preferences, to planning the seating, background music and ensuring everybody’s plates were full and glasses replenished! 🥂. The happy couple and guests thoroughly enjoyed themselves... especially when the sun came out for our ‘mingling hour’ on the back terrace! Thanks again Rob and team! 👍

It was great to come back here after the relaxing of the Covid restrictions and a joy that the two young guys who run it have continued to keep going when several decent restaurants in the town have folded. The food was delicious, a very generous portion of whitebait followed by beer battered hake - the batter was superb, almost transparent and not at all greasy. My son had delicious Thai style chicken thighs (again very generous) with first class chips. A most enjoyable visit and we'll be back soon

Came to try the new menu on Saturday 22nd, as I expected perfection was achieved again by this classy establishment. I particularly enjoyed the steak (a very popular cut among french butchers who know what they’re on about) and at 15 pound I felt like I was robbing the restaurant. The mojo verde paired well, a little nod to South American cooking. Like everything at de Jour simple yet clever and perfectly executed. I also had the prawns which I have every time because they’re fantastic and locally sourced from the fish monger around the corner. You can’t beat 5 large king prawns for just 9 quid most other restaurants would charge at least 11.50 minimum. The smoked ribs and chicken thighs are cracking too all cured and smoked in house it’s very hard to find this quality and attention to detail around here so I’m grateful to have such a high end reasonably priced restaurant in my home town.

Went for a Saturday afternoon treat and was really pleased with the quality of the food. The Hake was sublime, salad, chicken thighs and fries were all really well seasoned. This was our first visit to eat and would definitely recommend. They also keep a really nice Peroni for the lager drinkers.

Sadly disappointing. We checked the website before visiting so were expecting a la carte menu plus small plates to choose from. I asked about this when only the small plates menu was given and the waitress didn’t understand what an a la carte menu was....
