DD's Bakery & Sandwich Bar in Gwynedd

The food is made by the staff/owner and it shows in quality. Everything I have tried has been very tasty. Now I go there 2 times a week to buy their delicious bread and usually end up having a cake as well. The owners work very hard and they deserve to be thanked. Hope they are going to be very successful in the years ahead. I would particularly recommend the seeded loaf.

Ordered sandwiches to take on our hike. Great!!!! There are so many choices of baked goods. It is a small shop, and the food is all handmade. There are a couple tables outside, but mainly take away. Scrumptious .

Came into this bakery and there was only one lady before us who was waiting to be served. There was a man and woman behind the counter who were deep in conversation, walking in and out from the back and couldn't seem to care less that there were customers waiting to be served. After a period of time me, my partner and the lady left empty-handed after being thoroughly ignored by the staff. To be honest it felt like our custom was unwanted and the staff wanted us to leave. So we did. Avoid and go to a friendlier bakery.

Fabulous breads, bakes, and sandwiches. Great choice of fillings and great value. Friendly staff, we went in every day of our holiday!

Walked into this attractive looking bakery, ordered a Cornish Pasty, a can of Coke & a Latte. Served swiftly by a lovely lady, with a sadly missed European accent. Sat in one of the chairs outside, and scoffed the tastiest Pasty I have ever had, the Coke was a Coke, the Latte was so good, I could have ordered another one, but the lady Dorota was closing up for the day. I shall return ASAP, as the Polish cakes, pastries & bread, looked rather enticing.

Couldnt help but feel that the merchandise was overpriced and the lady was rather rude in all fairness customer service goes a long way in business wasps all over the cakes is not a good look.

We both had a take out tuna salad sandwich, the bread was lovely and very full of tuna and salad. Nicely wrapped up for us to take away. We had previously bought cakes there which were equally good.

Called in to purchase traditional pasties, cake and 2 coffees. Pasties warmed, coffee good, only complaint from my OH was that he wanted a larger coffee, cake was delicious. In fact everything was very good, will be back

We purchased 2x steak pasties, 2x cherry and rhubarb slices and a pack of Welsh cakes - was difficult to pick as everything on display looked so delicious! The pasties were fantastic - great handle on them and a delicious filling. The cherry and rhubarb slices were some of the most delicious cakes we had ever eaten. Can’t wait to go back!

We discovered the exquisite DD's when we stayed near Dolgellau last year. Once you have discovered DD's there is no going back. The place's range and quality of products is second to none. In my opinion DD's is Dolgellau's best bakery by a distance (with all due respect to Popty'r Dref) and it is definitely a major asset to Dolgellau. I was totally bewildered when I saw the scathing review some other individual had written about DD's. I think that review says more about the reviewer than DD's. Just look at all the other feedback. Dot et al, we'll see you again in late April 2022. We are just as excited to know that DD's awaits us, as we are at re-acquainting ourselves with Gwynedd's spellbinding environs. Stopping off in Dolgellau and needing bread for the wife & kids (sadly no gluten free on the day), nipped into DD's for some Paninis and day old bread (reduced to 50p a loaf) for toast. Good friendly and helpful service with a smile, as always.

Really loved this place. Fabulous home made bread, sausage rolls, sandwiches and salad bar. Not to mention the cakes. Very friendly staff. We are returning to Dolgellau for a walking holiday next year and there will be a daily visit to DDs.

Amazing Quality bakery. This tiny little bakery is absolutely amazing. Its clear to see that the owners love their grade, and put in the long hours and hard work to make the products top quality. From sandwich fillings, pastry items, sweets.. to bread, it is all so impressive. Totally out the ordinary for similar bakeries who buy products in from frozen food suppliers. These people would walk into any kitchen in the world as pastry chef/baker and do a great job. You can't replace skill and passion with bought in goods...this place is the dogs bollocks!!!!

I contacted DD's by messenger on Sunday night to see if they were open on the Bank Holiday - they said they were but later than we were planning to hike. Once they knew this, they said they would be busy baking so if I told them what I wanted, they would make it for us. So 90 minutes before they opened, on a Bank Holiday, I walked out with three delicious filled rolls and three gorgeous cakes. Which were enjoyed at the summit of Cader Idris a few hours later! Amazing service and so kind of them to help us out. I also thought the price was very reasonable (I am Northern but live in the South East) but still the price seemed cheap to me, especially as the portions were generous. We are aiming to return during our stay - within opening times!!

This is carry-out food at its very best with a wide range of fresh baking "goodies" and drinks. You choose the fillings (a wide range is available) for your roll or sandwich and you are offered salt and pepper - delicious. You can opt for a pie or sausage roll, ice cream or perhaps a tasty custard tart! Lots of choice. Good and attentive service. Be patient if you need to wait in the queue outside. Cheers and enjoy.

Always call in here for bread when visiting Dolgellau. Hard to resist the sausage rolls and cakes. The staff are always helpful too.

Great Bakery with a good selection for a salad box or whatever you want in a fresh ciabatta. Dot & hubby are so friendly and have consistently worked so hard throughout this difficult year. Always smiling, friendly service and an asset to the town. Diolch...

I bought a pack of rolls and 2 vanilla slices and was charged £7.80! I didn't want to make a fuss as the lady was pleasant so just left with my goods, feeling like I'd been robbed. I wouldn't mind paying for quality artisan products...

We visited this bakery three days in a row to get our picnic lunch for our walks. The staff were friendly and there were several vegetarian and vegan options (including a sausage roll) which were all delicious! Would recommend.
