What a fabulous location, just a stroll from the castle. Tea with soya milk, a draft (yes draft) Estrella Dam washing down an awesome Welsh rabbit 🙂

Popped in for a breakfast before a climb up snowdon, seated quickly and served quickly, just had a cooked breakfast which was all nicely done and seemed like good quality, I would have liked to see a choice of eggs but it seemed fried was the only option, but I liked you could swap a item (I swapped mushrooms for a extra hash brown) Good prices too. Quite warm inside as no air con but Would certainly go back.

We recently had the pleasure of dinning at Wal with a large group, and it was an experience we won't soon forget. From start to finish, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and ensure a smooth and enjoyable evening. Absolutely loved our brunch experience at Wal Restaurant! Even though the place was packed when we arrived — no surprise given its prime location right by Caernarfon Castle — we were lucky enough to find a table. The restaurant has a stunning interior; the way they’ve preserved the Roman-era castle wall inside adds so much character and charm to the space. We ordered the Wal Welsh Burger and the Firecracker Chicken, paired with a tea and a hot chocolate. Every bite was delicious, and the portions were perfect — generous and satisfying, especially if you’re really hungry. The food was full of flavor and definitely worth every penny. Whether you’re a local or a tourist exploring the castle, this spot is a must-visit. We’ll definitely be coming back to dine again!

We had very good memories of eating here previously and we weren't disappointed this time. Visiting Caernarfon on a sunny April day, we were once again able to sit outside with our dogs and share a fantastic lunch in a really lovely setting. I had the all-day Welsh breakfast and everything was top quality, including proper fresh bread and real butter, and really tasty pork and leek sausages. The pizza was as good as my daughter remembered from our last visit, and the boys both had burgers. Lovely cup of tea too :) Service was excellent.

On a weekend break we stopped in for breakfast, my partner said his welsh breakfast was one of the tastiest, great quality produce, my bacon bap/chips was huge very nice pot of tea and coffee to go with...we will visit again

Took my partner for a surprise trip. The staff were very friendly and there was plenty of seats available. However this was on a Monday, so capacity might change. Partner is Gluten and Dairy intolerant, yet they catered for her. She said that it was one of the best meals she's had. The Eggs Benedict was lovely. Very highly recommended. We'll be coming back again for sure.

We had a very tasty lunch yesterday, large jacket potatoes, one with coronation chicken and the other with tuna mayo, with a side salad, coleslaw & pickled red cabbage. The staff made us & our dog welcome, he was given 2 dog biscuits, which was a nice gesture. Y Wal is relaxing restaurant with good food & friendly staff, we are lucky we live just 3 miles away.

Rang last week and spoke to a young lady who said that the restaurant was closed on Friday night. Had to book elsewhere as I had no other option, only to find it was open :(

We had the pleasure of enjoying a breakfast at the Wal Restaurant in Caernarfon, and what a lovely experience it was! Richard, our waiter, was the epitome of elegance and politeness, making us feel truly welcome. He’s the perfect example of what great service should be. We started our day with the Welsh breakfast, and it brought pure joy ! The flavors were just right, the sausage is out of this world, the freshly grilled musrooms are amazing, and pairing it with a cup of their exquisite filtwr coffee was a delight. The restaurant offers a great range of vegan dishes too, so there's something for everyone. Wal Restaurant has outdoor seating, which is perfect for enjoying a sunny day with the spacious layout inside offers different table sizes for families or groups, western type diner seats and the front of the diner has that charming old-school vibe. Plus, the 15th-century original arch brickwork adds a special spot of history, making the whole experience feel even more special ( as was told by Richard himself). Overall, Wal Restaurant is a beautiful blend of history and delicious food—highly recommended!

after visiting the castle, my husband and I called in at Wal for lunch. the service was friendly and quick. the food was delicious. we had soup, leek and potato, and a full sandwich, one ham, one cheese, both were on fresh bread and very tasty.

food and drink was of good quality and very nice ,however we were baffled at the fact it was only 2pm and they put a board outside saying now closed by 2.15 at least 30 customers had been turned away..abruptly told no we closed!!! silly time to close on a busy Sunday afternoon if you ask me. clearly cost of living isn't affecting the owners of this place.

The waitress saw as sitting now is 15 min since we sitted and still no one to serve us menu.

We dined as a family of five (including three children) and had an amazing experience. We ordered the smashed burgers, grilled seabass, and steaks. Everything was incredibly delicious. The children said the burgers were the best they had ever tasted. The steaks were melt-in-the-mouth, and the seabass was magical. The atmosphere was very pleasant, the staff were friendly, and the prices were excellent. For five people, we spent only £130 and left feeling absolutely stuffed. Highly recommended!

What a lovely find, very warm welcome. Had the black pudding/goat cheese starter and 10oz rump main, both were excellent, the chips were amazing. Highly recommend this restaurant, sorry I didn't come across it earlier in my visit to Caernarfon

Attractive place, close to the castle. Service not particularly friendly or attentive. But the biggest shock was the prices. £15 for a chicken wrap or £9 for a bacon bap. Obviously a place for unaware tourists

Unwelcoming and unpleasant service. Arriving when there were few people, the waitresses took turns in front of us for several minutes, completely ignoring us. Not the slightest hello or “we’ll take care of you soon”.

It was the first time I visited this cafe in Caernarfon. I know from a travel website that its fish and chips are recommended. My family had lunch here. We ordered large fish and chips and Margherita pizza. Both dishes are amazing and delicious. I feel so surprised that they can provide good Welsh, British and Italian food. At the same time, the customer service is satisfactory. The staff are friendly, helpful and nice. Feel satisfied with this meal.

Looked at a few places to eat and decided to try Wal, so glad we did food was excellent so tasty and freshly cooked, my Daughter had a Pizza which she said was one of the best she has had, we had the chicken strips and they were delicious, Service was excellent staff very friendly, Thank you for a lovely meal.

The location was very central The staff were lovely The decor was really nice The toilets were ok , but weird they shared it with next door but… The food was really good. I’m not one to leave a bad review however I had a terrible experience here. I ordered a vegan meal and was served a non-vegan meal (with cow cheese) I could tell straight away in the first bite and the waitress was very apologetic and brought me the vegan meal I had ordered. I felt too sick to eat much so I just had a few chips in the bowl and noticed underneath they had dropped coleslaw on them luckily I noticed before eating something non-vegan again. After making a mistake, apologising and being made very aware of my dietary requirements they were then careless and made the same mistake twice! Really awful experience and could be a severe issue for someone with allergies, clearly careless.

We wandered around Caernarfon looking for somewhere that looked half decent to eat and after what seemed an eternity found the Wal and entered a sanctuary, an oasis. Full of happy people and dogs taking refuge from Caernarfon. The breakfast was tasty, the sausage well cooked, the mushrooms actually tasted lovely not just wet or rubbery or greasy. The flat white coffee was as it should be. The dogs were a tonic. We watched bemused tourists wandering past the restaurant wondering why they had come to Caernarfon. Oh, the Castle. Now what? Try and find somewhere decent to eat. And they all ended up in Wal happy in the knowledge that for a brief moment they were safe from Caernarfon.

A modern cafe in the centre of historic Caernarfon offering quality food at a reasonable price. They have a large varied menu with vegetarian and gluten free options. I had Eggs Royale which great. Will definitely back.

Very tasty pizza, with out to much salt which gives me a bad head. Great toppings which are more ulthentic then the big brands.

Came because of the reviews praising the seafood options (fish curry, linguini) but after ordering drinks were told that those kinds of items were only part of the dinner menu (and they weren't open in the evening that day). Mixed vegetable soup with half a sandwich were both quite disappointing (generic white bread with too much butter, soup tasted odd). Scampi and chips was much better.

Amazing place. Food was incredible and very quick.

We had our lunch recently from this restaurant. We did not have a reservation but as there was enough space for our group of 7 people, we were offered a seating. We ordered 2 burgers, one fish and chips, 2 fire cracker chicken and some drinks. The food took ages to come (to be fair, it was written in the menu to allow time for the food to cook, but still it took close to an hour to get our food). The food was just average, nothing extra ordinary. The staff behavior was good and the ambience is nice. Won't be disappointed but still can look at other options if available.

Very fortunate to call this my local. As the staff are incredibly kind and attentive. The breakfast is hearty and of good quality. As for the atmosphere inside, it's incredibly warm and impeccably clean throughout. Highly recommended a visit

Great food, nice place, good service from a friendly young team, good prices. Eggs Royale were incredible, perfect poached eggs, smoked salmon and hollandaise on a lovely crisply toasted chewy bagel. Someone who cares about the food they put out is clearly in charge of the kitchen. Cappuccino was the hottest one I've ever had! Only 1.95 for a pot of tea with 2 decent cups in it too. Dog friendly, inside and on the seating outside at the front. Highly recommended.

Dog friendly! All day breakfast served here. Not long after we sat down, lots of people started to come in with their dogs. Staff were so friendly and service was great! They gave our dog some dog biscuits! I ordered a large veggie breakfast and it was amazing! Definitely would come here again and recommend it.

Nice cooked breakfast with friendly staff. Liked the decor, natural stone and lighting. Much larger than seems from the front with two group tables at the back. Missed courtesy check and sausage a little overcooked, but would visit again. Catered well for gluten intolerance.

Lovely haddock and chips, decent burger, and fantastic pizza. Most of the pizza came away with us as our little-un wasn't very hungry, and it was still tasty cold hours later.

Great customer service and food overall with risotto and pizzas, however poor experience with the steak. Ordered three fillet steaks which were overcooked medium rare was medium and medium was well done. Great customer service though and the steak was reordered but the pepper corn sauce came back watery compared to the other sauces.

Delicious food with excellent customer service. I came here with my family +dog for lunch. From my table I could see how the kitchen staff worked, with every plate checked by the head chef for quality. The waiting staff were friendly and attentive. Highly recommended, we will return.

From start to finish, the whole experience was superb. The food, including the gluten free options, was sublime. Firstly, thank you to the staff who accommodated us as walk-ins. I would highly recommend booking a table as for a Wednesday, they had no other available seats. Sorry, no pics as hunger took over. We opted for the chorizo starter between us, which we devoured. Very tasty! Then a pizza each for main. Arrived very swiftly and went down swiftly! The goats cheese pizza was absolutely delicious. Thank you the the staff for the friendly service, will definitely be booking a table when we return to the area.

Super sympathiek restaurant. Er was niks mis mee. We hadden zin in kip dus we hadden chicken strips, gevulde kip, en spicy chicken besteld. De spicy chicken was heeel spicy maar toch erg lekker. We moesten lang wachten maar dat was niet zo erg. Voor we weg gingen had ik nog een klein gesprekje met de eigenaar van het restaurant. Een aanrader dus!

We went to Wal for dinner. It was great! Really friendly and helpful staff. There were plenty of options for vegans/vegetarians. They were really knowledgeable on allergens and made everything gluten free for us. ☺️ Amazing food!
