Dawat in Ealing

We chanced by Dawat. As many places were shut... What a great choice for breakfast. The Halwa anr channay with pooris was outstanding. The different parathas were very tasty too.. The staff were very attentive.. Not sure what the other reviewers saw but for us folk from up north this is a place we will be coming back. Next time we will be back...

I need to start by saying that save for recommending restaurants to family and friends I have rarely, if ever, written a restaurant review. I feel so let down by this restaurant that I need to share what my partner and I experienced last night. I should also say that I had am excellent takeaway meal from Dawat in Tooting a few weeks ago. Atmosphere: with the exception of a noisy family sitting on a table at the back and a couple a few tables down, the place was empty. The waiting staff looked as though they wanted to be anywhere else but there. One of the chefs/kitchen staff had a number of noisy verbal arguments with what appeared to be the owner or manager in front of paying diners. Food & Drink: We ordered chicken balti, chicken Karahi, paneer saag, mango lassi and a mohito mocktail.,Things did not start well as the food arrived before the beverages. The chicken balti was good. The paneer saag was disappointing in being far too salty with poor quality cheese. The chicken karahi dish was the worst dish I have ever seen or tasted (and I have enjoyed curries from Spakbrook/Sparkhill, Leicester, Tooting and around the world for well over 35 years). First, it was cold to lukewarm so had to be sent back to be heated up. It is best described as a bowl of bones that contained joints which yielded tiny scraps of dark meat. It lacked decent flavour. It was awful. To add insult to injury we were charged £15.99 for this bone broth. The drinks were disappointing. Dawat Southall - if this is best food and customer service you can manage - STOP! close the doors and stop insulting your customers. 0 out of 5.

Loved the restaurant the went out of their way to cater and deliver their food to me on Eid day. They were very helpful and very accommodating and food was authentic Pakistani/Indian cuisine. My British friends also loved it and had a great time.

1.We asked for two dishes to be less spicy! But nothing was changed.2. They said delivery will be in 45 minutes because they cook fresh food, it took over hour and the food were cold ! 3. We asked for the delivery price, and the lady on the phone said she will let us know when she get the post code. She told us price , but when delivery came they ask £10 delivery service on top of what she said!!! So... very disappointed!

Awful! Paid over £200 for Biryani to be delivered for a function and the rice which came was so over cooked that it was mush. The curry in the biryani lacked taste and was literally swimming in oil which probably contributed to the mushiness of the rice. I have never turned down Biryani in my life but this was completely inedible and we had to order pizza instead. There was weird rancid smell coming from it as well. The accompanying butter chicken was just as bland if not more, boiled cauliflower drenched in oil would have tasted better than this. Rang the manager to lodge our concerns whose response was “yeah we overcooked the rice but there’s nothing we can do” . Avoid at all costs!! Unless you wish to have your food bland oily and liquified. Go next door to spice village, food is way better there. Found this out the hard way.

This restaurant used to be my favourite in Southall but it has gone downhill. The most disgusting service with the rudest most unprofessional staff. I live a five min walk to the restaurant but ordered a delivery due to covid and avoiding having to go outside. The restaurant doesn’t allow you to order from uber eats so I made the order over the phone. DO NOT EVER ORDER FROM THEM. They charge so much for delivery yet they can’t even do a simple job they charge you so much for. An order that was said to take 25 mins to be delivered took well over an hr. I live a one min drive to the restaurant and a five min walk. They then tried to blame me. I gave my address countless times. Spoke to the driver countless times and they still couldn’t find my address. Staff hung up to me multiple times when I tried calling. That’s how rude they were. Staff including Maria, salahuddin and anwar to name a few. I was blamed for not answering the driver yet I spoke to the driver every time he actually did call and kept on giving him my address and directions. How many times is a customer supposed to repeat themselves before they loose patience. Eventually when the driver came I sent the food back. I didn’t even get a basic apology from a single member of staff. Completely ruined my evening this experience did. If Dawat wants to compete with other restaurants in Southall it needs to do much better than this. The standard is appalling. I never take the time to write negative reviews, I always prefer to write positive reviews but I was compelled to.

Couple of time I visited that restaurant with my wife but this time I get a bad experience. Basically they don’t maintain any kind of social distances in the pendamic time. More than 30 minutes to take my order, my wife want prawn curry but they don’t have prawn curry. The waitress ensure she will come back what they have but didn’t return back. The food was not good like before. May be they change their chef also they make partition the whole restaurant. And finally my wife she order a mango ice shake but waiting for half hour , then we pay the bill in counter and they give us the shake takeaway.I never come back , everything are waste of money.

I came in before most of the people on this floor and they were served with their food even before me when we ordered the same thing but I did first. Very terrible service

Superb halwa poori, If you wanna have a taste of original pakistani food then Dawat is the best place. Food and service is amazing, staff is very friendly and professional. Highly recommend. 👍🏻

Worst Restaurant In Southall!I went into this Dawat Restaurant thinking that their foods is going to be good, left feeling disgusted. "Okay, from the starting" I went in ordered a Chicken Biryani and it took time arriving (but I'm not complaining about that). So, the Biryani arrives look's like a volcano on a plate and I taste it, it tastes like microwaved and the chicken pieces inside it, are dry and soggy. They also never gave me any mint sauce with the Biryani and I also ordered a Falooda it took 20 minutes to arrive and when it did arrive, after tasting it, it was warm not cold. The only thing that was cold was a tablespoon of ice cream that was floating on top of the Falooda, Worst Restaurant ever and they Ruined My Eid! To the owner if you read this "What Kind of Idiots Have You Hired To Run Your Restaurant If You Don't Know How To Run A Restaurant Just Sell It" But Please Don't Ruin People's Eid.

Can't say I am surprised it's closed, the food was awful here like really bad and one of the worst in Southall if not the worst restaurant to dine in. They always had a guy standing outside who would try and force you in which shows they are desperate for customers which tells you a lot. Glad it's closed and surprised it even lasted as long as it did, good riddance

My favourite restaurant. Best food ever. Value for money . Great chefs . Not heavy at all with oil . Great taste .

THE MOST WORST MEAL FOOD IN LONDON .STAY AWAY DONT EAT HERE IF YOU WANT TO LIVE . We came from across London to celebrate my Birthday this weekend and the food was disgusting.The lamb meat curry was smelling OFF , and the Salad was disgusting, the lettuce was actually so old it was actually partly brown at the edges .The bowls with the condiments of chilli sauce and mint yogurt were disgusting. and needed a good cleaning , The tables needed a good cleaning .Actually the manager/ owner needed a good cleaning wash in his white suite . later on my son got diarrhoea from the meal ,which was no surprise.

Was here at south hall for one day and one of the friends recommended this place. Food was good but paid £60 for 1 starter, 3 curry with rice and NAn.

I was in London for business and flying back early evening. I dropped off a colleague at the airport and visited one last customer in London, nearby Southall. I told him that I was planning on getting a good indian meal before flying home and he pointed me in the direction of Southall, without recommendations. There#s plenty to choose from, so... I endet up in Dawat and I have seen a lot cosier places. If you want athmosphere, don't go there. I have also had far better curries so I can't rate the restaurant more than average

Had our breakfast at Dawat and we all liked ot alot.

Have lived in Hanwell for 37 years, and have dined in almost all Southall’s restaurants over the years. This is without doubt the worst. Poor food, terrible service and a deeply unpleasant manager. We ordered a mixed grill with rice, samosas, daal, roti, naan and pakora. I specifically asked for all to arrive together. Eventually the mixed grill arrived. I had to ask a waiter on six occasions to get the extra six items. By the time most arrived, the mixed grill was almost finished. The rice arrived last, plonked on a dinner plate. The daal was very watery. When I brought all this up, very politely, with the man who said he was the manager, he dismissed all my points, told me that daal is watery (I’ve eaten daal hundreds of times and made it myself), seemed to blame me for all the dishes arriving at different times (!) and insisted on charging us the full fee for the meal. I can easily forgive a waiter making errors, we all do, and they may be new or a having a bad day etc. But it’s harder to forgive a manager who gives you short shrift when you make a point of complaining. Not many people do, so when someone complains, something has gone wrong. The manager at Dawat evidently couldn’t care less for his customers’ experience of the restaurant.

I took a group of European students yesterday who had very limited experience of authentic food from the subcontinent and they were very impressed with the quality of the bread and the sizzling plates of fish chicken and lamb. I also was very satisfied with everything including the friendly staff-recommended

I went to this place accidentally, there was a person standing outside the place asking people to have experience and I experimented although I was thinking another place and it went bad , the person who took order was rude , I asked specifically for a dish and he said it's written on menu and when It came it was typical chicken roasted curry dish no taste and very ordinary standard , the starters deliverance is just like a street food , if you want a peaceful and better behaved staff to serve you , DONOT go to this place , total waste of time and finally it said they accept card payments , when we finished I asked the waiter for bill and told my preference rather than bringing bill to me he told me to go to the till and pay at counter , when I went to counter they said cash only and denied accepting card payments .. That was very rude .. please dont go there

£2.50 for a bottle of water, 20 minutes for a menu to arrive and staff that seem like they rather be elsewhere. Food was okay hence the save from the one star.

I like their service and taste. Some dishes are not up to the standard but mostly desi dishes have good taste.

We met for a birthday celebration sadly my companions were delayed on the underground and the buses. The staff were courteous and did not pressure me to order food.

We went with our kids and they enjoyed the food. The best was lamb karai, we ordered 1 Kg portion and could share. Naan was soft and mouth melting, properly cooked. Haleem was yummy as well. Kebab tastes nice.

Food was fresh, well seasoned and tasty. The first sign of a good restaurant is it’s very busy, with a queue for a table. My only complaint is it’s cash only.

we had a aftaar buffet on 22nd May 2019.As people started all starters finished and then we had to go on main meals. After that lamb curry,biryani,lamb kabab and chicken kabab and chicken nuggets for children finished as well. Coke which was taste like plain sugar water has finished as well which they put on every table and Rooh afza which was in container finished. Everyone asked but staff said starters has finished .So everyone has to come on sweet dishes. As everyone finished eating ,they added little bit lamb curry ,biryani and ( nuggets which again finished because of less quantity ).I think they want to show everyone has finished but main meal is still there. Good tactic but failed. I would never ever recommend there. Its wastage of money. Better to go Nawab at least as much you are paying should receive services accordingly.

So first off there's always someone outside the restaurant who literally drags people inside to eat here, not a good start. And secondly the food is simply not great at all comparing to the surrounding restaurants so no I won't be coming again anytime soon

This is a visit to Tooting Broadway Dawat on 29th of April 2019 in this lunch time. It’s not that busy . I was waiting for a waiter to order food for long time. But at the end I get the good service once the recognised there is a guest waiting to order,

Nothing wrong with the food or prices. Seven fed and happy for 70 quid in London is good news. Everything had nice flavours and we were impressed.

I visited the restaurant with my wife on Tuesday afternoon and despite being busy the staff looked after us very well.

After strolling through Southall on a busy evening we thought we should somewhere and started browsing restaurants. Dawat amongst the other looked very busy, bright and welcoming.

Went here for a random evening out, the food was good, service was good and the portions were enough for two people. The drink could have been cooler however overall for the price and style of india/ Pakistani food, was overall a good experience

Average food, better options available in same price. Once a try is worth only! Price is also high and taste is just an ordinary food compare to what avaiable in same area.

Went in for some lunch for a friends birthday. Had lovely food. The staff were amazing. They bought out the birthday cake on time with added birthday music (which was very thoughtful)

went on 21/03 and tried nawabi tikka, gola kebab, masala fish and biryaani, everything was good but did not like the student Biryaani. the service is good over all and serve amazing food

Went for a quick bite with frens,first thing I found was a hair in plate gave it to the supervisor I believe,didn’t even thought of saying sorry,the rest food was ok,no complains on food.

I came to have breakfast in Dawat and a fight erupted. There was knives and blood and people slashing others. Avoid if you don’t want to be knifed. This place is more like a ghetto. All the food was covered in Blood.

Me and the family thought we’d try this for lunch. Felt the food was good value - starters decent.

Faizan was very accommodating and always looked out for my needs. He took care of me. The food was ready on time when I went to collect it. Perfect portions, food was really tasty and the kheer being a big hit. Thank you Faizan and Dawat for taking care of daughter’s birthday catering. You did a fantastic job.

Firstly, the decor of the place is really basic, so don't expect anything fancy. There were two of us, and we were sat in a dimly lit table right at the back near the toilets. To be fair, they did say the light wasn't working and asked us if it would be OK. We weren't too bothered with it, had to ask them for menus though.

Late late late delivery of order. It took 28 mins for starters to arrive. The main course arrived less than 5mind. The naans were cold and main course was Luke warm.

Faizan has hosted my event really well. The food was so yummy! Everyone was so happy and I loved how everything was decorated. Thank you so much.

We spontaneously decided to come to Southall and whilst looking for food, spontaneously stumbled upon Dawat. We were greeted by Faizan who provided us with a bespoke service and an evening of fine desi style dining. The achar chicken is to die for !!! Would definitely recommend this restaurant.

We went here after having their food served at catering, Usman served us tonight and the food was amazing. Succulent and tender chicken and lamb Karachi. The flavours greatly complimented by the herbs and spices that make Dawat brilliant.

Come here from Birmingham once a every 2 months and have to say the food is absolutely bang on 10/10, Service is exceptional, the whole team really look after us and are extremely polite and friendly. Faizan the floor manager and Usman are absolutely fantastic! Keep up the amazing work both of you and the whole team.

The attitude of the staff was disgusting. The food is excellent however the staff was was rude and disrespectful. Ive been going to this restaurant for a few years and the previous owner was amazing. There is no concept of family values at one point I felt embarraced.

We came here as a party of ten with five children and five adults. Our host Usman was friendly and very professional. We ordered the charsi lamb karai and chicken karai which were both very tasty with just the right amount of heat from the chillies. The children loved the butter chicken dish and the hot naans. The Kashmiri chai was delicious. Would definitely recommend as a family friendly place. The service was quick and the environment friendly.

After a recent visit I have to say this is one of the best restaurant in Southall, their Haleem and Faluda is simply awesome and the floor incharge Fizan Bhai really looked after us, what a gem of a guy!

Amazing food and staff, friendly waitors in particular the one at the door and Usman. Would recommend to anyone looking for a good time.

We went after a long time to southall everything have been change not the same well passing throw Mac Donald we searching for a restraunt to munch and have an dinner with family get together

Had a family dinner here and was found a table very quickly despite being very busy. We had to wait a long time for the starters and many other diners were being bought their dishes very late. After making a small complaint we did then get all.our dishes very promptly. The food was very spicy and the fish dishes were over very poor quality. The staff were nice but there seemed to be a lot of chaos in the restaurant with moving tables around making a noise and ruining dining the atmosphere. Everytime the door opened a blast of cold air would come in making us feel uncomfortable. Overall it was over priced over spicy and not an enjoyable evening and would not recommend this restaurant

The food was great and the service was outstanding. Floor manager Usman really made our day with his courteous behaviour and his stupendous service. Would definitely like to visit Dawat again. Strongly recommended.

We had arranged our Christmas dinner in Dawat Restaurant Southall. Staff were really helpfull and friendly specially Mr Usman and Mr.Faizan both are so generous and helpful with all aspects. Food was really delicious my colleague want to revisit soon with their families.

We decided to visit this place for family lunch on Christmas Day. I was not impressed with the service, we had to keep asking for drinking glasses and other basic items. Asked the door man who set us down to clean the table because it was dirty, he decided to wondered off and ignored the request.. we had to request for someone to come and take our orders. The waiter took our orders did his best to serve us. I think they are under staffed and should try to improve the service side.

We had best night out with family in Dawat especially fazan and his team made my parents anniversary so sweet and food was amazing service was outstanding will come again for sure.

Food was brilliant up to par. Love the presentation and the quality of the meat was fresh and cooked perfectly. Each mouthful was amazing. Meat just melted I would recommend the lamb saag and the paneer curry and jalfrazi. Enjoyed the starters which was sea bass grilled prawns and sea bass. Lovely staff especially one particular staff usman very very helpful and treated us like we were royalty. Ask for usman he gave us the best service. Will definitely be coming back and I highly recommend dawat to everyone.

Didn’t feel good after eating here. Looked up hygiene rating on Ealing website and saw 1/5. I will not go back.

My friend and I visited this restaurant , for me it was a first time . Staff is very friendly and welcoming. The place is nice and warm atmosphere. Food was served after 10 mins as mentioned during order . Parpodoms were served complimentary and the cashier said it the Indian tradition ‘a way of welcoming ‘ and a good option for vegan and vegetarian. I would recommend this to spice lovers and also there is mild food too . Definitely will visit this place again.

I will never go to this restaurant again. I will not recommend to my friends. I ordered biryani and it was hard and tasteless. I explained that to the man and he said that I had to eat it and that he didn’t care. I payed for the rice and didn’t accept the rice as a takeaway. The staff were rude and disrespectful

Halwa puri, Nihari and Haleem are fantastic. Probably the best breakfast in Southall. Great friendly staff, especially floor in charge Mr. Usman! Keep up the great work guys!

Beautiful restaurant, sofas were a bit tatty but the restaurant food and service was outstanding. Looking for a nice restaurant for the family do try them out. Anwar and Usman and co were all very helpful in their services. Very good restaurant for the family.

Use to come here for breakfast every Sunday. Standards dropped, recepie changed. Stopped coming.

We went to this place for our dinner after shopping and were really disappointed with the food and service. The paneer chilly was the worst and it tasted very sour and had excessive spices. We couldn’t finish our food, so asked the staff to pack our food and after reaching home we found out that they had mixed my vegetarian Chana masala with my friends lamb curry in one container to save their cost. That’s really unacceptable.

Potential customers are advised to look at the number of top reviews for this café from people with only 1 or 2 reviews. I say café because it’s certainly not a restaurant by any stretch of the imagination. I had booked a table for 8 in advance but were made to wait outside for 8 minutes in the cold and wet until out table was ready. The atmosphere inside was very lively but on walking through the restaurant to our table, the stares, looks-up-and-down and mutters from other diners were palpable. As white Europeans we felt distinctly uncomfortable from the get go. Menus were brought promptly and then we waited and waited....and waited...and yes...waited. There was a distinct feeling from all our party that every attempt to catch the waiter’s or any waiter’s eye was deliberately ignored. We finally got to order drinks. Reasonable lassi. Starter snacks were ordered and were served samosas that were still frozen in the middle. Inedible and hugely embarrassing since I had organised this meal as a family celebration. Then we tried again to get the waiters’ attention for the main course. “Coming sir...soon sir..yes sir...one minute sir.” 25 minutes later we got up and left. No apology for the poor service, just that look that “as you’re non Asians we couldn’t care less”. We were in the place for about an hour all in all, left decidedly ripped off, discriminated against and ended up driving home and getting a takeaway from our local Indian Restaurant where we were treated with respect, charm and valued as a customer. Look at my reviews, I’m not one to shriek “avoid this at all costs” but, AVOID THIS AT ALL COSTS. Thanks to the “Management” for ruining our evening and leaving two young children hungry and 6 adults disgusted. There are much better options in Southall off the main drag, try the vegetarian place that’s recommended as I’ve eaten in their other branches.

Biryani, Samosa chaf and Kabab was amazing with a jug of lassi. The staff super friendly and of great help.

My family and i regularly go Southall to eat, we thought we would try Dawaat for a change after attending a private function upstairs where the food was very good. However not the same story downstairs at the restaurant unfortunately!

We frequently visit this resteraunt as a family. The food is always excellent.

I've frequently visited this place from time to time. However, this was one of the time when I received excellent service by far the best in all of Southall. I previously visited spice village but their food was terrible and so was their service diabolical. On the other hand, when I visited Dawat again I realised that I was taking the service they offer as granted. Many of the restaurants in Southall are either really bad at their service or have terrible food. But at Dawat I received excellent service and the food exquisite, it will make you lick your fingers.

We had a very nice meal this afternoon. We were seen to very promptly by Usman, who was very friendly. The service was very prompt and the food we had was excellent. We would definitely recommend Dawat, with its authentic and excellent dishes.
