Our favourite restaurant in east London! We had brunch (and many drinks!) on Saturday with friends and then a roast to celebrate Mother’s Day the following day. Food and service is always exceptional. Despite it being busy the staff are always super attentive and you never feel rushed. There’s a reason we come back time and time again.

Lovely dinner on a Friday evening. The food was all good, but three course was a bit much. We got the set menu for £29 (3 courses), but sides were extra. Would happily come back again.

Excellent EVERYTHING. Attentive staff. Expertly prepared cocktails. The best quality meat and fish. Fresh vibrant salads. I do think the wine menu could use a few more options for a glass but the one I chose was the perfect food companion so no complaints 😉

We went there to celebrate my brother-in-law's birthday. The place itself is great, service was good, quirky decor. We ordered from the Sunday menu. I had a pasta dish (which was very tasty) but the portion was very small (only 6 mouthfuls to clear the plate). I was a bit gutted when I saw my companions dishes (Sunday roast was a very generous size). Had to get MC Donald on the way back home that's why only 3 stars for food.

Ate from the “sundowner” early weekday menu. We went at 6pm but you can order it up to 7pm even on Friday. We had three courses and all were good, especially the duck and the cheese board. A 50cl carafe of decent house wine is available and was ideal for us as a bottle is just that bit too much. Staff were attentive and pleasant and the atmosphere is modern, being quiet at 6pm but busy and vibrant not much later. Situated in a pleasant development which is open and well lit so feels safe at night. We went a few years ago and are pleased to see it’s still good.

We had the 2 or 3 course menu and were not disappointed! Price/performance ratio very good. Exceptional preparation at a high level in a rather rustic atmosphere. The wine selection is very good, the staff are very friendly and attentive. A very nice evening, we will be happy to come back.

Lovely Sunday roasts the Yorkshire puddings were amazing 👏 super friendly service and great sound system making the atmosphere this place is not to me missed

The bread was freshly baked. The cherry Manhattan was sublime and I had some of the best cooked fish I have ever had. I would highly recommend this place, every time.

All around a poor experience to be fair in the Stratford branch the manager or whatever he is by the name of jonney is unprofessional, was weirdly rolling his eyes and kept on talking about his personal life when taking my order. The food was dry and the drinks were luke warm. Wouldn’t recommend

Great Sunday Roast the lamb was so soft and pink. Everything seasoned wonderfully. It wasn't very busy and we were able to be sat 40 minutes early for our table, but the service was slow. Food came out quickly and hot, but the service was slow. Great friendly staff and cocktails were delicious.

I had a great experience here, amazing food and friendly / attentive staff. I had a surprise extra guest join my group and the waitress helped us move to a bigger table with no issues and the order and bill were handled smoothly. One of our group had an intolerance and the staff were knowledgeable and attentive when working out what options to choose. We were all impressed with the quality of food and drink - specific compliments for the truffle soup. Very chill atmosphere, some classy extras like branded ice cubes too!

Celebrated a family Birthday here in DH. Wonderful as always Particularly keen on some new additions to the menu. The slow roast beef was incredible as well as pumpkin Tiramisu- wow Georgie a totally reformed desert for this time of year. Always a pleasure to eating here. Team were fantastic as always. Love restaurant in a nice area. Staff are excellent, very attentive. Service was fast. Sunday lunch was ok. Pork was a little tough, dry and the crackling was chewy with basic veg and not much variety.

The Sunday Roast was superb, Lamb on the bone, lovely Yorkshire pudding, carrots, beans and potatoes in duck fat, yummy. Staff were helpful and friendly. When we booked, only had two spaces free, arrived and they had loads of tables empty but within 5 mins of us sitting down, the place was packed. Really nice area too.

I recently dined at Dark Horse Restaurant in E20, and I must say the experience was outstanding. The food was exceptional—I was so hungry I completely forgot to take pictures! I started with a delicious fig dish, followed by a perfectly cooked duck for the main course. Each bite was memorable. The service was attentive throughout, making sure we were well taken care of. The wine selection was impressive, offering something for every taste. The ambiance is modern and “New Wave,” striking a balance between being a great spot for friends or a more intimate, candle-lit evening. Highly recommend!

Pros: Ordered the Sunday roast with a glass of wine for £28. The porchetta was tender and seasoned to perfection with a smoky flavour. The carrots were amazing, I almost mistook them for sweet potatoes! For starters, I had the arancini, and the sauce it came with was unexpectedly delicious, definitely recommend. Cons: The only thing I didn’t love were the potatoes which were more on the crispy side than fluffy so perhaps a bit too much oil. Overall: Food was excellent, the staff were lovely and very attentive, only making the evening even more special.

The Sunday roast was exceptional, the quality of the ingredients were very good. The mushrooms croquettes were delicious. We couldn’t seat inside as we didn’t book in advance, but definitely we will come back. Highly recommended.

Bar was wet, when advised the staff, not interested, my shirt was wet , no apology, no tissues etc offered. Very rude and no customer service. Walked straight out.

We were here for dinner. The location is lovely-a quiet residential area opposite a park. We could not fault the food or service. I'm not that into lamb, but the lamb steak we had was great, very lean. Options for wine by the glass were rather limited.

The only issue i have is with the service charge, when did it become the norm to charge for the service automatically at such an outragous percentage and not at the customers discretion, just wrong

We had a lovely evening here on a trip down to see ABBA Voyage. The service was excellent and staff were all so friendly and efficient. The food was delicious and came in very generous portions, but we still managed dessert! Great experience all round and we would definitely go back if we are in the area again.

Great food, pleasant friendly atmosphere

DarkHorse arranged my Mother's birthday party on a Sunday afternoon, for 19 people. Choosing menus / wines / champagnes was very easy and I visited the restaurant to take some decorations and meet the staff beforehand. The welcome to our visitors was warm, the food was fantastic - and the service exceptional. I am delighted to have booked this restaurant for an extremely professional, enjoyable and memorable day. Friendly dishes and modern cuisine. Good atmosphere and average service.

My daughter booked 15 of my friends for my surprise 80th birthday. What a sensational three course meal to everyone’s choice! The wine was well chosen and the staff couldn’t be more attentive and friendly. We were going on from the restaurant to the ABBA Voyage concert. Mum, me, was dressed in full ABBA regalia along with other friends. The staff played ABBA music and three of us were dancing apart from the other diners , who were there to enjoy a quiet Sunday beautiful meal. To be honest we were out of order, but no unruly behaviour at all. We were told the other diners enjoyed it as well. We’re definitely going back before for my 90th! The owner’s mother enjoyed her 80th, but more quietly. Just can’t thank DARKHORSE enough for an exceptional meal with fantastic hospitality. Definitely ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ from everyone of us! CANT THANK YOU ENOUGH! ❤️ not filling in all the questions for 15 but everyone was totally amazed with everything they ate and the service and atmosphere was top class! We had a work team dinner at Darkhorse, the service was wonderful, thank you Nicole for looking after us so well. We had the sharing menu as we were a large group. Absolute winner not only was the food delicious and some of the dishes were totally new to some of us but the experience of having the sharing menu absolutely works in a large group. Highly recommended! Will definitely be back. Well done Darkhorse team and thank you to the Chefs in the kitchen !

Brilliant local restaurant- the menu excellent for meat lovers, fish lovers & veggies alike. Superb cocktails, great wine selection, both inside seating with great music vibes, or outside alfresco in the square. Highly recommend. Staff were great too.

Four of us visited on a busy Saturday night (England v Switzerland quarter final of the Euros showing seemingly everywhere). A small screen TV in the entrance with sound not high satisfied both those interested in the match and those who were not football fans. Really relaxed vibe in the restaurant and nice views onto small parkland area. Service was impeccably friendly and professional, food and wine was excellent. I'd return in a heartbeat!

What a lovely brunch, the service was impeccable. I work in Hospitality and this place inspired me. We came with my partner and had great food for brunch, superb bloody mary and the terrace is a lovely spot. Very well priced brunch! We will be back and that shakshuka was wondeful. 😍

I’ve been going to the Darkhorse from the beginning and I couldn’t recommend this place more! The food is always on point, the drinks are exceptional and the service is first class. The owners and staff are just the nicest people you could meet. I keep going back for all of these reasons. I highly recommend this place. It won’t disappoint.

We had not booked a table but after a short wait we were accommodated. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Menu choice was large, so too was the drinks menu. Late arrivals to our table were accommodated without any fuss. Very enjoyable night, will book next time and will be back for sure.

Poor service. Waited for about an hour for somebody to come to our table outside, but at 10pm when they did come we asked to order some drinks and they said they’re “closed”, despite google saying they close at 10:30. So you pretty much have to get last orders for even drinks in before 10. Pretty poor. The menu looked quite dated and disappointing too, if I’m honest. No vegan options apart from sides.

We sat outside but the interior looked nice. Food was lovely to be fair, but there were four of us and we all agreed that the portions were on the small side and for the price of the desserts, you’d think you’d get a portion that would bring a smile but instead they were really skimped on. Probably won’t go back as we don’t mind paying for good food but do mind not getting value for money.

Yesterday, my family and I visited Dark House, and it was one of the worst dining experiences we've ever had. Despite not having a reservation, we were seated quickly, which was the only positive aspect of our visit. The waiter took about 20-30 minutes just to take our drinks order. We then waited another 20-30 minutes for the drinks to arrive. We ordered three main dishes and two starters, along with bread and olives. We had now been at Dark House for one hour and had only received our drinks, still waiting for our food. To our surprise, only the starters came out (we wanted it all at the same time). We reminded them about the bread and olives, and that came out shortly after receiving our starters. Another drink order was taken at this point, which took about 20 minutes to arrive. Incredibly, we waited another 45 minutes to an hour for our main courses to come out, and the food was not even that delicious. We received a few apologies from the waitstaff, who explained that the kitchen was busy and they were short-staffed. However, this is not our problem as customers. To make matters worse, people who arrived just before us had received their food, eaten, and paid their bills before we even got our main courses. Several other tables that came in after us also received their food before we did. It was honestly ridiculous. Overall, this was definitely one of the worst restaurant experiences I've had, and I will not be returning. I expect someone from the restaurant to reach out to address this appalling service.

The best place in the Olympic village in Stratford. The scrambled eggs were creamy and delicious and their quinoa red pepper salad really compliments the eggs. Top spot!!

What an excellent place to grab a bite to eat prior to a trip to the cycling track, the ABBA show or anything in that area. We had the pasta - beautifully presented and very very fresh. Service was attentive and just right with lots of smiles and good beer to go with it. Will be going again when back in the area.

Excellent Sunday roast! I could happily have eaten a plateful of each of the component parts - my pork was delicious, with proper crackling, the roast potatoes, beans and carrots were equally really well cooked and full of flavour. The Yorkshire pudding tasted like a home made one and the gravy just continued the quality trend of the meal.

I’m celiac and I ordered my meal gluten free, but they forgot and gave me gluten. After I pointed this out to them they picked the gluten off my plate and didn’t apologise. Ordered Sunday roast. Food and atmosphere were mid (aside from being served gluten). Pork was nice but the roast potatoes were dry, not crispy and the portions were fairly small.

We had Sunday dinner, 2 adults and 3 teenagers. Everything was perfect, nice atmosphere, friendly staff and fantastic food! We had Roast lamb with yorkshire pudding and more, it was just perfect. All of us strongly recommend to eat here.

Solid place for a decent meal. I had the pork, my friend had the sea trout. We enjoyed our meals in the restaurant's pleasant atmosphere. The music was nice and not too loud, so we were able to chat. The staff were attentive and only gently moved us along as they were trying to close. They only have one draft beer and limited wine by the glass, but everything is high quality, so no real downside to dining here.

Top quality food and service combined with lovely ambience! Roast Cornish Sea trout, buttered greens, roast Italian new potatoes and the Bakewell tart were excellent!!!

A good Sunday roast ruined by insanely salty gravy. Service was slow and not responsive to the complaint when raised (twice). Would not recommend unless you fancy overpaying for a block of salt on your plate.

Heerlijk gegeten, we hadden in Nederland al gereserveerd. Vriendelijke bediening, heerlijk eten, goede ambiance. Doordat we gezellig aan het praten waren, vergeten een gerecht uit zoeken. De serveerster gaf ons ruim de tijd om iets uit te zoeken. Er werden voortdurend flessen met kraanwater bij gezet en vervangen. Toen we het dessert besteld hadden. Bleek dat de serveerder deze niet had doorgegeven en moesten we wat langer wachten (wat voor ons geen probleem was) Toen we het dessert kregen, kregen we het op kosten van het huis en hoefden we hier niet voor te betalen. Ook werden er 4 lepels meegegeven( we hadden maar 2 desserts besteld) Leuk dat ze daar aan dachten. Een fijn, mooi aangekleed restaurant, écht een aanrader.

Overall good atmosphere, however the food was under cooked and I ended up with food poisoning and missing work.

We went for Sunday lunch before ABBA. Very slow service even though place not full. We had Sunday beef for three. Took nearly 45 mins and was very poor / meat was not good, veg poor … all in all an expensive and disappointing experience. Most local pubs back at home would excel at quality, service and price versus this. Expect more in London

Lovely dinner spot, perfect for date night! They have a very impressive wine menu, the service is fantastic and very friendly. I ordered the grilled pollock for the main - really tasty. The squid arancini balls are amazing and a must try. Overall lovely meal, I will definitely be back :)

Took my nieces and nephews to the DarkHorse to meet their Grandmother, some for the first time. From booking to the last handshake at the end of the evening these guys were amazing and so accommodating. We didn't ask for too much I hope, but everything was a yes. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was amazing especially the steak. And loved the music vibe...

Average food and poor service. Just returned from Sunday lunch. Waiter just dumped our food down and didn’t ask if we wanted anything else. Also no check back to see if the food was okay. For £28, you can get much much better in London.

Overall it was tasty . I live in the Netherlands and was visiting London got the first time in a few years and really wanted to have a traditional Sunday roast lunch. I choose the Roast chicken , the meat was fine but there was a lack of “ all the trimmings” - no stuffings, no pigs in blankets , no sprouts, no bread sauce . A bit of a disappointment

Really loved this place… the decor, service, and of course the food. We were all so impressed with our meals, and I’ve heard the cocktails are excellent. So nice to go somewhere where everything is just done really well. Will be returning soon!

Our first trip to Darkhorse. We'd seen it before as we've walked past a few times but never been in. On those other occasions the weather has been grey and the surrounding area was quiet, with little life so it didn't look that welcoming. We should have gone in though as Darkhorse is a lovely place for a drink, with some lovely cocktails, but our visit was for Sunday lunch and it didn't let us down. The roast chicken was so tasty - perfectly cooked - as was the pork, the highlight of which was the 'crackling' all around the outside. Dessert for us was the rhubarb crumble, which was a large serving that came with ice cream. Like the roast, it was delicious. Competition is tough but Darkhorse serves tasty food and drink at reasonable prices. it's well worth the visit.

Wanted to take my wife somewhere nearby but with interesting food. The reviews were glowing and the pictures showed good portion sizes so figured this would be a great choice. Indeed the food was delicious. The starters, mains and deserts were all great. I do wish the portion sizes were bigger for the price. Other peoples' pictures seem to show bigger portions than ours, I ended up ordering additional starters after we finished the starters because they were so small. I got 2 sticks of chicken and for main, 3 cubes of beef and for the price would've liked at least 33% more than that. Looking at other peoples pictures they got at least 2 times more than that so I don't get it. Fortunately the chips as a side dish were a good quantity (and good quality), so I'd definitely recommend getting one portion of chips per person. Every piece of food was perfect, the flavours, textures great, and cooked to perfection. We enjoyed every morsel. The draft beer was really nice, the atmosphere was decent, the lighting was pretty much perfect (although I'd have added a candle on each table and some photos from others show there used to be candles). Will definitely plan to go back, but will probably save up for a while first.

Went with some colleagues from work and was impressed. Nice setting and very good food. The set menu was good value, less than £25 for 2 quality courses.

After so many recommendations we finally dined at the beautiful Darkhorse restaurant. After reading the menu over and over again I couldn’t wait to try the food. The restaurant is based in Stratford but in the calmness of East Village. A serene location which makes you feel like you’re not in the hustle and bustle of London and especially anywhere near Westfield shopping centre. The restaurant itself is stylish and industrial yet still cosy. Now onto the main event, the food. As there was four of us we decided to share some starters. We opted for the Padron Peppers, Jamon Serrano Croquetas, Squid Ink Arancini and the Charcoal Chicken skewers. Every dish was fresh and flavoursome. Perfect. For my main I ordered the Porchetta roast dinner which actually melted in my mouth. It was cooked perfectly and all the accompaniments were a perfect addiction to the pork particularly the roasted carrots. Delicious. Accompanying the food was a lovely glass of house white wine. I also tried the red wine which was lovely and some of the roast chicken which again was cooked perfectly. We got given the dessert menu but opted for cocktails instead as these came high recommended. Maybe we’ll do both next time. I had the Walnut cocktail which was a perfect after dinner drink. The staff were great. Attentive but not too much. Just letting us enjoy the food and our company. The atmosphere was perfect and I shall definitely be returning.

Came for an early dinner & chose from the Sundowner menu. All three courses were great especially the pig fillet. We chose a tasty Sicilian red & were not disappointed. Nice atmosphere & good service.

What a wonderful restaurant this is. The food is second to none and the level of service is fabulous. The sundowner menu is excellent value for money including all the favourite dishes from the menu. The pork chop is to die for !! The meals on the menu are regularly updated so if you are a regular like me there is always something new to try. Portion sizes are really good as is the presentation. The soft lighting makes for a very relaxing atmosphere. I cannot recommend the Darkhorse enough. And an added bonus the cocktails are great !!
